Hej! We are getting ready for our interview in Copenhagen this summer and I am looking for any information and embassy experiences that you may have. Please share!!

Hi missmissy

Its a little late that I see your topic, but anyways.

My experience is not so good from the very beginning. But I guess we have been very unlucky.
It goes smoother for most people.

You may ask me any question anytime. If you look at my timeline you can see that I am very far into the process.

Rigtig meget held og lykke til jer. good.gif

I am from Denmark and have lived in USA 4 1/2 year.
In the beginning I missed all the food you are talking about but eventually I have found it all in a store called World Market.
I live in California.
They have alot of swedish food, candy and other things which I compare alot to what I am use to eat in Denmark.
I really hope you are able to find that store. :-)

Best luck from

Howdy.

Eli viimeinkin sitten marraskuun lopusta 09 taalla, just ja just alle 1000 paivan rajaa k3 paperien lahettamisesta.
(Suomessa asuin siis viimeksi joskus kun vuodet alkoivat 1:lla, ja naimisissakin on tahan mennessa oltu jo yli 4 vuotta).

Mitas muille? Taalla on nakojaan muutama uusikin... hey y'all, sorry for the update in the language above but it's justified in this case.

By the way, for all of you folks wanting to learn e.g. Swedish, Finnish or another language (about 40 listed in total), FSI has released their language courses for free personal use in http://fsi-language-...rg/Content.php. Yep, those are the ones the US government typically uses for training their own staff :)

They didn't allow me to see him and I had to take the next plane back over the atlantic. It was for me very scary.

Just make sure not to bring anything that can make them suspicios that you wanna stay. Make sure that you only show them that it is only vacation for this time.

I am sorry to scare you, but when I was reading your post I felt that I had to tell you my experience.

This happened May 5 2005, and because of many other problems with my papers to get a visa I first saw him when I moved to US March 7 2007. You may not be that unlucky

Hi everybody,
First time here and it really makes me happy to see that there is more Scandinavians out there that went through this VISA process. It is a big blur so far!
I have a short question, Are in the process of applying a K-1 visa, we sent the first package which got received and now we are in the looong waiting. I am travelling to see my fiancée on Friday and I am getting a bit nervous about getting through customs on my tourist visa. Have any one of you had any problems? Or did everything went smoothly? I head stories where ppl are denied to enter?!

hi and welcome to the journey.

I did the same thing to visit my fiance and 3. time the didn't allow me to enter.

When I told them that I should visit my fiance they didn't believe that I would travel back again , but thought I would stay.
My bad was that I brought a few things like photoalbums and pictures in frames. Plus I had recently quit my apartment and moved to my parents in order to save up money before I should move to my fiance.
We had just started our paperwork for a K1 visa, but I didn't bring them. They banned me for 1 year or untill I had my fiance visa approved.

Bring your K1 visa application so that they can see that you are started. Don't bring anything in your suitcase that can let them feel that you will stay.

Very good luck to you and hopefully everything will go smoothly.

HELP ! helpsmilie.gif

Somebody knows what would happen to all my documents which are in the famous sealed brown envelope when i am at the port of entrance in USA?

Will they just check it and give it all back to me or will they check it and keep it?

I ask because we plan to marry the first week I arrive, then we want right away to apply for AOS, but some of the original documents which are required for AOS apply
are in that envelope. Ah and i thought the stress part was done huh.gif

Hi

The stress part will first begin now my friend. yes.gif

I really hope you didn't open the envelope.
Yes they will keep your papers at the entrance.

When filing your application for AOS you shall send certified copies of the originals.
By the time you are going to the AOS interview, you will see that they have all the papers from the sealed envelope.
They will keep this forever.

Make sure read the AOS instructions very carefully before filing. Your case can be delayed an awful long time if you are not doing this correctly.
There is alot of help on this website here. So swollow whatever experience you can from other people.

I wish you very good luck with your further visajourney.

Oh myyyyyyy ! that is very silly of them to keep it all and ask again for the same things, for instance, I am sure there inside must be my divorce certificate from Sweden, all translated and apostilled. Also the medicals must be there too, since i have none of it and the affidavit, all originals and notarized.
Well, it means a new divorce certificate, translate it and notarized it and of course my personbevis... again! just this time i have to ask someone because I am leaving after tomorrow and since i am not Swedish, have no relative, nobody in this country, hence... i have to ask my ex for it... laughing.gif
Have to go through medicals... again, affidavit... again!
All that seems so illogical, really so ilogical, JAG FATTAR INTE!!!!!!!! mad.gif

Anette, thank you for the information.

You are so welcome.
Do not hesitate to ask more quistions. I have been through all this ####### just recently and know how hard it is.
Yes all your things you have given them are in that envelope.
Its just a big repeat.
So please close your eyes and just do it good.gif

Hello everyone!
I am not Scandinavian but my fiance is from Norway. I hope you will let me join the circle on his behalf. innocent.gif
I have enjoyed reading all of your insight, thoughts, and other experiences.
I just started on this journey and am a little nervous. I hope our time line shows up. (if not, i will try and repost it)
Anyways, I have a few questions about this whole thing.
We are wanting to get married in March- March 22nd to be exact.
I have spent some time today going over the time lines and experiences of others. It is making me a bit nervous that planning a wedding for this date in March might be a little premature. He is going back to Norway on 12/06 to await the NOA2 and then the other stuff that comes after it. But of course relatives from Norway and my other out of town guest will need to book tickets and such in the next month or so probably or would like too. Also, I have already done some planning and booking for that date.
So, I guess what I am looking for is some reassurance, advice, or any experience with the Oslo, American embassy and the processing times.
Thanks,
Cora

Hi Cora

Ofcause you are welcome here. Your fiance is living close to my homecountry Denmark good.gif

I can see your timeline and I think your case will be done by March if everything is going after the book so to say.
But I am always very concerned when people are telling about plans before they have their visa in hand.

I can tell you my situation:
We submitted our I-129F back in June 2005. We where approved March 2006. This long waitingtime was because we needed to obtain other papers that I had a hard time to get.
Afterwards I had my K-1 Interview in June 2006 in Copenhagen.
My Interview was not approved because of a conviction I had back in 1994.
Then I needed to submit another form to London to get my stupid conviction approved.
I recieved my K-1 visa January 17 2007.

We planned our wedding 4 times during all this, but had to cancel all 4.
And we where not prepared for all this when we started.

Please be free to ask if you have any concerns.

Hello everybody!

It is the first time i am posting here, so i wonder how it will come out.

I have a concern, indeed, my case is kind of complicated and i am getting confused.

Point is, I was born in Mexico and lived there for many years, I am Swiss citizen due my father, but I live in Sweden. Applied for the K1 as Swiss.

It is regarding the police document that may be asked. Since I have been living in Mexico much after I was 16 years old and couple of years here in Sweden, it means they will require one from the Swedish and another from Mexican police?
Yes

Then, I live in Malmö, will I be asked to go to Stockholm for the interview? I mean Copenhagen is just across the Öresund!
I am not sure if it's Stockholm or Copenhagen

How is it about the medical tests that may be required, does any one knows? Here in Sweden we have all medical records in the clinic where we live. Or are we send to a specific doctor?
The test needs to be taken at some of their doctors. But you will with your package from the embassy recieve papers about this.

Please if someone could help me with some of information, I am quite confused and it is already about 120 days since we got the NOA 1, so, soon the rest will come and i feel kind of lost with all that.

Thanks!

Luciana

Is the NOA from your F-129 application?

Some consulates want PCs from every country the benefactor has lived since they were 16 for

Ok I found this on a website.

Police certificates are required from every visa applicant aged 16 years or over for each locality of the country of the applicant?s nationality or current residence where the applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year.

MistyB, you can set your keyboard to Swedish if you want. I switch between English and Finnish all the time by pushing 2 keys (simple enough even for me wink.gif ). I love my ä's, ö's and å's smile.gif

Mr and Mrs Bird, I find Swedish and Norwegian easier to understand than Danish (not to mention Icelandic of course lol) but I've communicated with Danish people in Swedish before. I just need to concentrate very hard tongue.gif Reading's naturally much easier. I used to work at the Tourist Information office in Helsinki a few years back so I met a lot of people from all over the world. Scandinavians really are some of the nicest people out there wink.gif

Yes It's funny how we all understand different. I understand Norwegian very good, but Swedish is a kind of hard to me.
Here in USA it's very nice to be a scandinavia girl. They like my accent LOL

Sorry I am out. Don't understand your language. I am from Denmark

I used to live in Sweden. I read Danish much better than speaking it. So I totally understand what you mean by that. I would get amazed hearing it. There seems to be no enunciation at all. Everything runs together.

Ok how much of that is wrong? Because my grammar always sucked. lol

Ok I am danish and would love to let you know how it sounds. biggrin.gif
It dosn't sounds like swedish at all. But it is mostly because of the different accent.
I can read swedish since there are many similar words to danish. But I am defenatly not good to understand when swedish people are talking. hahaha

Nice to see you all here good.gif

here i come  happy as a camper to say hello to my fellow scandinavians...and then now they started to talk in finish...i dont understand finish

If there were any other Norwegians on this forum, I would definitely try to strike up a conversation in Norwegian with them, although Swedish/Danish work for me as well. Enjoy the treat of getting to "talk" to someone in your native language! LOL
I do think, however, that miamoa2002 was only joking. (Although you never know with a Swede, of course. They have, after all, colonized both Finland and Norway in the past!) ........

just kidding, of course :P

 ;) :D

You must be quite excited to be getting soon all the papers to be finally together.. any news since the earlier post on the page? I can't even imagine how long mine will take... probably until next year, or even more likely to just get a job transfer. Oh boy.
And hi - I think I've been away for a while, probably forgot to just pop in and say hi. So a big hi to you and your Dane - or would that be hej in Danish?

I am the danish person and Hej is correct LOL :D
