Hi...I don't have any information for you but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry about your attorney. I hope you both can move on from that and not let it put a damper on your NOA2 (congrats)

RFE = Request for Evidence

It's when the USCIS needs more evidence of a bona fide relationship, more info that you may have missed, etc. etc. smile.gif

You can also check the Immigration Timeline and check out your fiance's country and other couples from that area and what their time line is like....

Really, if you fill out your profile, where your fiancee is from, what you have filed for, it will help us help you!

I'm just trying to get an idea for when we'll be able to be together again you know, I do find it comforting to be around, even if it is virtually, people in the same boat as us.

By what I've read I think it's been going pretty fast right? Hopefully I'll receive the NOA2 soon, when I do what do I do next? How long after the NOA2 until we get to be together?

Hi smile.gif

The process is taking in excess of 6 months...you have a ways to wait yet. Fast is not in the immigration vocabulary!

Where is your fiancee from??? You can always go visit.... I'm assuming you are a guy right?

Did you look at the links I sent you????

Oh ok, I'll have a look. I really look forward to talking to everyone here, and sharing our experiences.

I put my timeline so far in my signature if anyone is interested.

I'd love to hear other experiences in this hard proccess.

For other that have been through this process what was the average time that it took from the sending of the I-129F to the U.S. Entry?

I apologize if I'm asking too many questions it's just that, I don't know I'm desperate I guess, this whole thing is being really hard on me and my fiance.

See beside your name

Hello, I've been lurking around for a while this post has given me and my fiance a lot of hope that are case won't take too long.

We were lucky enough to have filed with the VSC

Our I-129F arrived on Oct. 9 and I'm checking the status online constantly. It's been 16 days and so far nothing, I'm not complaingin because I'm ready to wait more but I'm just hoping to hear some hopeful comments here. Anyone with a similar filing date who has already received their NOA1, if I'm not mistaken that's what you receive when it is approved right? What happens then, is the interview scheduled?

Well I look forward to being a part of this forum, I wish all of you the best of luck, all of us here know how hard it is to be far away from the one we love.

Check the Guides.
There is a K1 flowchart on that page that shows when things should happen and what to expect. The K-1 process is currently taking 6 months and up so..you have a ways to go yet wink.gif
No, the interview is not given until after your NOA2.
Usually people get an NOA1 in approx 30 days..some less, some more.

3. Color photocopy of all Bus passes during my time in Hungary.

Only 2 potential problems I can see;

yeah i'm starting to understand, oh how i wish i could get a tourist visa for my fiance so she could wait out the process here with me, last time she was here the agent at the airport gave her 6 months, that would be perfect if that happened again, but she was already denied another tourist visa sad.gif this is so frustrating

JDK...I know you really want her to be here...we all want to be with our loved ones. Look at me, we haven't even started yet because I'm waiting on my divorce papers. For your own sanity and to prevent heart ache, try to just accept that this is how it is. Save money, talk every day, send letters and emails and just focus on the relationship and before you know it, she'll be here!!!!
The one thing about being in a long distance relationship is the lesson of patience. Before Nick, 6 months to me seemed like a long time..now it's nothing. It will go by in no time.

Yep, huge problem. She wouldn't be your fiance anymore, she would be your wife and you would be denied at the interview. You'd have to start all over again with a K3 spousal visa.

I would wait until she comes to the U.S. to get married.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIntent To Marry document with the I-129 submittal
From the Guides here at VJ

"5. Original statements (from both the US Citizen and foreign fiance) certifying an intent to marry within 90 days of entering the US on a valid K-1."

There is an example:

Fiancé Letter of Intent

(petitioner’s / beneficiary’s address)

United States Department of Homeland Security
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

(USCIS service center address)

or when submitting for interview
United States Department of State
United States Consulate, [name of country where Embassy is located]
[Embassy Address]

(date mm-dd-yyyy)

Dear Sir or Madam:

I, (applicant’s or beneficiary’s name) , do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry (petitioner’s or beneficiary’s name), and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

***Insert description of relationship here***

Yours truly,

(signature)

( print name)

When we contacted a lawyer previously he gave us a starter package..in it was this about the letter of intent:

"Describe here how you learned about Laura, how you met, how
you TWO fell in love and decided to get married - don't be afraid to
be mushy. You should write AT LEAST THREE GOOD PARAGRAPHS
here, BUT NO MORE THAN TWO PAGES."

I see now that it really isn't that necessary but I don't think it hurts to help..I certainly wouldn't go on for any more than 2 paragraphs!!!
Oh and I don't think you need to say you are officially engaged...Nick and I aren't and we will be filing before that happens!!! Just both of you saying you want to get married is enough.

Best of luck smile.gif

Hi everyone,
We've just made it as October filers, sent in the packet yesterday! Wish us luck!!!
We also have a question-my fiance is a photographer and is looking to do a photo story in Russia. He's considering waiting until he receives his K-1 visa from the London Embassy then planning the trip and traveling to Russia for several weeks, then coming to the U.S. Is this advisable? Will U.S. immigration question why he traveled to Russia after the granting of his visa, before he came here? I want him to be able to go, but neither of us want to risk the loss of his visa or denial of entry into the U.S. Has anyone else done this? I'm sure the 6 month clause, him having 6 months to enter the U.S., is in place for a reason? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you! Meg and Grae

Hi guys smile.gif
Yes he can travel as long as he has advanced parole. Your fiance would enter the country and you guys would get married...then he applies for Adjustment of Status and at the same time, apply for the advanced parole. This takes a few months to be issued. If your fiance leaves without AP, he would be denied re-entry and you'd have to start all over again with a spousal visa.

Best of luck smile.gif

He wants to visit Russia before he enters the U.S. and before we get married. He'll already have the visa in his passport but will go to Russia prior to entering the U.S.

QUOTE (chris4gretchen @ Oct 29 2007, 01:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
When they say that they want a photo not retouched, that means is they want a photo that shows you exactly how you are. not digitally enhanced to remove wrinkles, darken your hair, thin your face to shed weight, change your hair from straight to curly, etc etc.
you can pretty much do anything to a photo with common software and they dont want you to manipulate the photo in any way to make yourself look better or different.

they dont mean not to touch your photo and leave fingerprints. though any marks that obscure the photo will be a no no as well.

Now some passport photo places will photoshop in a suit on your body or collar shirt etc to make it look more professional. That tends to be ok with government agencys as long as you dont do anything to the face.

All you can do is try. Buy the plane ticket and see how it goes. If she is denied...you are out that money.
If she does get in, just remember she has to return home for the interview and she must have someone in her country who can forward her mail from the USCIS to her in the states.

QUOTE (JULIAFERNO @ Oct 30 2007, 11:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

This question has probably been addressed before, but I'll go ahead and ask...

How much evidence should one submit with the I-129F petition for proof of having met in the last 2 years and proof of an ongoing relationship?

I've been to Turkey twice and currently living with my fiance and his parents in Turkey, so we have plenty of evidence...just not sure how much to submit.

I'll submit copies of all of my boarding passes, flight itineraries, and Turkish visas in my passport for sure - but what about emails, calling card receipts, other various receipts, etc?

How many copies of email should I submit? What about the other stuff? I don't want to go overboard but want to make sure I include enough.

Thanks again for your help!

Yep, this has been addressed..actually the thread below this one asked the same thing wink.gif
No problem though, that's what we are here for!
Send in pictures of the two of you together, passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts from rental cars, hotels, etc. etc.

Emails and calling cards don't prove that you have met in the last two years...they show a relationship though, and daily contact so save them for the interview. Some people do throw them in their initial package, but they are really meant for the interview. I would just submit what they ask for in the K1 Guide. You could throw in a few emails but again, that doesn't prove you have met in the last two years.

Best of luck!!

Actually I have read on here that some people have gotten an RFE for not having the beneficiary's birth certificate in the initial package, even though it doesn't ask for it. I'm putting mine in anyway, just in case.

My sweetie is in New Jersey too!!!
Rypoli..you are looking at anywhere from 6 to 9 months from filing to interview...it varies.
Check out the GUIDES here at VJ, super helpful!!!
Also you may want to check out the Immigration Timeline for Canada/Vermont Center users on VJ to see how long it took them from start to finish to get an idea.

You can send in photo's of the two of you together, boarding passes, stamps in your passport, receipts from rental cars, etc etc.
Stuff like emails and text messages and phone bills, save for the interview. Some people do throw those in to the initial package but that doesn't prove that you have met in the last two years, that just shows an ongoing relationship...save it for the interview.

Best of luck!!!
~Laura

P.S. Make sure you fill in your profile to show your fiance is from Canada and fill in your time line when the time comes, it helps others help you! smile.gif
