QUOTE (morebillions @ Nov 26 2007, 09:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
MY FIANCEE IS COMING HERE SOON AFTER GETTING HER K1 VISA. I WANT TO BUY A ONE WAY TICKET FOR HER TO TRAVEL FROM LAGOS NIGERIA TO CHICAGO IL. IS IT TOO RISKY FOR HER TO COME DOWN THAT WAY? WILL SHE ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS LEAVING LAGOS OR ENTERING CHICAGO. THANKS GUYS. THIS WEB FORUM IS REALLY GREAT! smile.gif

Not a problem at all. In most cases the round trip ticket is cheaper than the one way so people buy the round trip and just don't return.
Congratulations and best of luck to you smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about my situation, please help

Hi and welcome smile.gif

To answer your question, it doesn't matter about what your fiance makes, you are petitioning for him so your income and support of him is what is key.

All you can do is file, provide as much proof as you can of having met in the past 2 years and be honest about any previous denials. Remember, that once he enters the states you must get married within 90 days, there are no extensions.
It's okay that you don't have a wedding date set, all that matters is that you get married within the 90 days.

Best of luck to you and your fiance! smile.gif

costly mistake and time consuming now. before it cost you $170 and your NOA2 in 56 days, total to interview was 140 days.

Now it will be $455 and your NOA2 will come in 140 days. your interview over 200 days. hope you can get it re-issued. if not you are back to square one. wow, what a blunder. thats like the couples that get their interview scheduled for K1 and then go and get married.

Thanks D+G! rose.gif
Since I have two previous used names, I don't think that will fit so I'll have to do an extra page.

Also, my two middle names won't fit in the "Middle name" part of the I-129F form so I'll have to do a separate page for that too! lol

My initial thought is that you'll want to use both middle names. Where it asks if you've gone by any other names, put your name with only the first middle name. And because you'll be using an attachment, you should explain the discrepancy. But see what others say, I could be totally off base.

And can I just say...IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU FILED!! smile.gif

Thanks Mox, You are awesome!!! We are excited. good.gif

So I'll put both middle names.

Since I was divorced and I went by my ex's name so I'll make an attached sheet with both names.

The one with just my first middle name and my married name.

I'll explain why, sign and date it. On the actual petition we just put "See attached" ?

Sound good?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling out the forms...
Hi people smile.gif

So Nick and I are filing on Monday!

I have a question about my middle name. I have two. My mom kept her maiden name and wanted me to have her name too so she gave me a regular middle name and then her last name as a second middle name.

Laura / Middle name / Second middle name / Last name

On my birth certificate it has my full name. On my passport and on most other things I simply go by:

Laura / Middle name / Last name.

Should we put both my middle names on the petition or just the one. Also, it doesn't fit if I put both so I just add an additional page if I am going to put the whole thing?

Thanks guys
~Laura

I speak only two languages, but I can swear in 9. Granted, I count it if I can only say one curse, but still. I can probably only really cuss proficiently in 3 languages.

I used to be able to cuss in 10 languages, but I forgot how to say the Serbian phrase for "go back into your mother's c***."

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: EAC**********

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On October 22, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at

We received our electronic notice of NOA1 on September 27th, the same day our cheque was cashed, and received the hard copy of it on October 1st.

According to everything I've seen of a NOA2, this is it. I'm not really sure why USCIS would send us two electronic notifications 28 days apart for the same thing, so I sincerely doubt it's a repeat of our NOA1, especially since an NOA1 is the receipt, and the NOA2 is your approval - you can clearly see that the e-mail was for an approval of the I-129F petition.

To all the people who are hurt and/or angry by this, I'm sorry, and I hope the process moves much faster for you.

All I can personally say is that I never expected it to happen so fast.

edit: In response to previous posts, we did not get or ask for any expediate process, nor are there any extenuating circumstances to our case.

Hon..you have NOTHING to be sorry about. Sure, I'm sure people are like "#######" only because they want to be with their loved ones so badly...but there is no need for you to apologize. This is an exciting time, enjoy!!!

Hi Laura and Nick,

not sure who i'm responding to, i think its Laura, anyway so happy to see you're a Canadian too!! sometimes this process makes you feel so isolated, so nice to be part of a forum. im from and living in Toronto and jason is in Chicago. we haven't applied for the K yet, jason was going to do it today but then was told it could take 6 months to authorise. My major dilema is ive been offered a job in Chicago for the same company i work for here. They will hold my job open till Feb/March of next year but cant keep it open much longer after that. The company is looking into the L1-B visa for me now but i am expecting worse case scenerio, like they cant/wont do it! So, we thought about the K as we figured its the quickest visa to get (i was told this by an immigration officer at Pearson!). Meanwhile, its not that quick. And, i found out i cant apply for a working visa until i get the K! im so upset, i mean i have a job offer with a US company, im Canadian (aren't we supposed to be the world's largest trading partners/neighbours?), well educated blah blah blah, what else do they want from me?!

anyway, im hoping on some good news from the US company tommorow. Jase and i just want to be together in the same place, just like yourselves, its so unfortunate that immigration has a decision in when that may be...

well best of luck and thanks so much for your reply :-)

Yep you guessed right, I'm Laura...Nick isn't too much in to the message board scene!!! LOL

Have you checked out the Canada Board in the Regional section? It's awesome and the people are so great!!!

Believe me..this website is amazing, I felt so welcome here right off the bat. K-1 Visa (fiance) is a great way to go....We haven't filed yet because I'm waiting on my divorce papers but we chose it over the K-3 because we want to be together for our first year of marriage instead of having to wait in separate countries for the visa while married.

Make sure you check out the Guides up top, they are super helpful in getting your package together and gives you a time line of when to do everything!!!

I hope everything gets straightened out with the U.S. company!!!
Keep us updated.

Best of luck to you too!!!

At that time the fees were much much less. You did meet your fiancee in December of 2005 but didn't have enough proof?

Hmm...

I suggest you meet a few more times in person, take lots of pictures, keep the boarding passes, stamps in your passport and then proceed.

have you already filed? If you haven't..there is still time to meet.
Lawyers are quite expensive and I see them now as just paid proof readers, unless you really do have a complicated case.
I don't know how a lawyer could get around the fact that you two haven't met. It's pretty clear, one of the major guidelines is that you have met in the last 2 years....

I agree with everyone here...meet first!
You might as well take that 455 bucks and burn it.
You may also want to meet in person just to make sure this is really it. Meeting someone online is wonderful, that's how I met my sweetheart but we have had 9 visits and it was only by meeting that we could come to where we are now...the decision that this is it.

There is nothing compared to being in the same room with the one you love. I would meet first just to make sure.
