K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRing and Wedding Date????
Anyone can buy a ring. It doesn't prove that there is a bona fide relationship. It's not mandatory or expected. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

As to your wedding date question, it's tricky!
Most people don't really plan anything huge, they usually want to adjust status ASAP after entering the states so they have something small and intimate (That's what Nick and I are doing)
Some just go to the court house (Sometimes the same day as entry!!)
You could have a date in mind but I wouldn't book anything till you have your interview date.
Even then, you have 6 months to enter the states after getting the visa so you could plan something a little bigger at that point if wanted.

Congrats on receiving your NOA1 and best of luck!! smile.gif

This is a long process full of ups and downs, it's an emotional ride.
I would direct your fiance to VJ so she can surround herself with people who are going through this journey too.
It has been a huge help to me.
Best of luck to you both.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F packet copies?
You should send a copy of the entire package to your fiance for his interview. They do not send him a copy of your initial petition with package 3. You sent the actual boarding passes and not copies of them? Could be a problem but you did get approved, so I'm sure it will be okay.
Check out the guides here at VJ and scroll to the bottom:

"What to send to your Spouse once the I-129F is approved (NOA2)"

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI'm not sure about this
Please take some more time to get to know the person you are planning to spend the rest of your life with. It doesn't sound like you are at all ready. If you aren't sure it's going to work out now, take some more time. Marriage is a serious decision. The visa process is a long and hard road, your relationship will have to be a strong one to endure all the ups and downs of the journey.

Best of luck to you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslong names
Hi smile.gif
I have two middle names and so both of them would not fit in the space provided.
So in the middle name part I put "See Attached" and I attached a sheet of paper behind both petitions.
At the top I wrote "Attached sheet for G325A form" or "Attached sheet for I-129F" form
I put what question I was answering.
I wrote the answer, explained that I have two middle names, signed and dated it.

Best of luck! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp Meeee
I only sent 3 emails total and 2 cards we sent one another in the mail.
Emails and chat logs are secondary evidence at this stage of the process.

They are looking for proof of having physically met in the last two years, boarding passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, car rental receipts, etc. etc.

smile.gif Best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes USCIS have heart about the process? quicker process technique.
Hi smile.gif
Welcome to VJ.
To answer your question, I really don't think the USCIS works that way. I doubt they are sorting through applications looking for the cutest or "The most in love" couples.
They have hundreds upon thousands of applications and they are working them as fast as they can.
I really don't know what to say about the few applications that get processed quicker than normal. Perhaps by accident they were put into the wrong box to begin with or just by some lucky fluke, their file was picked up and worked.

Perhaps some people do have a more straight forward case than others. Some do have more evidence and submit that evidence and it's an easier file to approve. Some people probably get caught up in name checks and other things that prolong their approvals and so people who filed after them get approved first.

I just think that if you submit all the information and evidence that is required, are honest and truthful, you'll get your approval. Some get theirs quicker, some later....that's life.

Enjoy the ride.

Save the phone bills for the interview, concentrate on including evidence that you and your fiance have met within the last two years.

Agreed. Phone bills don't prove you have met in the last two years.
Make sure you have enough of the primary evidence they are looking for, then add a small sample of secondary evidence, pictures, a few emails and some phone records.

They don't really care about your police record unless it's a very very serious crime.
They mainly look at the foreign fiance's police record.

Hey smile.gif
You got an RFE for this paperwork and you sent it in what they requested? I don't see it having an effect on the petition as long as everything checks out. I would wait a while longer and give them a chance to have a look at the paper that was sent in.

I'm sure it will all work out.

QUOTE (bigsky @ Jan 14 2008, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Sorry for being dense, but what exactly does "touched" mean? did you receive an email??

"Touched" is when your "Last Updated" date changes. So when you log into your USCIS.com account and look at your account, you will see a date when your case was Last Updated. If that date changes, that means you were "touched" You could have been looked at, moved to another desk, moved to another box, whatever.

QUOTE (mariapoe @ Jan 15 2008, 06:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey, how do you know that only JFK issues temporary work permits? I've read once somewhere that only major aiports do that but is there a list of those or something? I won't need to work right away after I get back to the U.S. but it'd be nice to have this option before my status is adjusted. I always fly to JFK and then we drive up to Albany, NY where we live, but this time we decided to only change planes in JFK and transfer to Albany; now I'm not sure if they'll be checking my visa and everything still in NYC - if yes, I could try to get that EAD - or at my final destination? In any case, I'm sure it's not a 100% that they'd grant you the EAD even if people at JFK are allowed to do so.

Anyway, I"m just curious:) Do you know more about it, or where I could read it?

Hi smile.gif
I know this simply from reading the boards and past messages here. It's been mentioned a few times.
Click here for a thread of someone asking.
I'm not sure if there is an official list but from what I have read on here, JFK is the only one that routinely gives out the stamp.

Someone can correct me if they have gotten one at another airport, but I've never heard of that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few K1 Visa questions
Hi and welcome smile.gif

The 90 days starts as soon as you enter the States using the K1. When you receive the K1 visa, you have up to 6 months to enter the States.

You can get a stamp in your passport for work but it only lasts for the 90 days. I think the only POE that issues that is JFK Airport. Then after you are married you file for your Adjustment of Status, you file for your AP (Advanced Parole which allows you to travel outside of the States before you have your Greencard) and EAD (Work Authorization) at the same time. It usually takes 3 months to get EAD and then you can work. Many don't even bother getting a stamp in their passport for work before they get married.

In order to support you, your fiance must be making 125% over the poverty level for the number living in the household.

Click Here for the guidelines that were posted on VJ. There is no 2008 guideline out as of yet but It should be pretty close to this.

Best of luck! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting during pending K-1 from a VWP country
Hi and welcome smile.gif
timeline.gif

This is a FAQ. Yes, he can visit you if he shows strong ties to France. Such as a letter from his employer stating he's returning back to work, bank statements, property he owns and is still paying for, etc. etc.
Ties that show he's planning on returning home.
If he has this evidence he should have no problem but there could be the chance that the officer denies him simply because now that you have filed for a K1, he has intent to stay in the U.S.
Just make sure he brings the evidence and he should have no problem.

Best of luck to you smile.gif

I would call.
We sent our petition to VSC on December 5th, they got it on the 10th and we got our NOA1 in the mail on the 14th. Our NOA1 date was December 11th.

Has the check been cashed? If it has, he can contact his bank about getting a copy of the scanned check to get your case number from the back of it.
Sometimes people never get an NOA1 but if your check hasn't been cashed either, I think there is probably a problem. CSC is usually way slower than VSC but 3 months is getting a little ridiculous.

Best of luck to you! smile.gif

On the immigrate2us.net website, there were several people concerned about "checkpoints" by immigration when crossing state lines and getting closer to border. They report that some people have been close to the border traveling to CDJ and gotten deported. This concerns me because we hopefully be traveling to Mexico this summer to visit his parents and then to CDJ for the appointment. I had had never heard of such a thing, but they say they are mostly in the northbound lanes and not the southbound. Anyone have any information? helpsmilie.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 in October. Still no NOA2!
Hi...
Yes, many many MANY people are still waiting. Some filers from May, June and July are still waiting for their petitions.
It's unusual to get an NOA2 two months after receiving NOA1.

There have been a few in the last few days but it's rare.

It usually takes 4 to 6 months to get your NOA2.

Have some patience, it's a long road even after NOA2. More mailing back and forth and then there is the wait for an interview.

If you have a straight forward case, you do not need a lawyer.
Not meeting the person in real life on the other hand = denial.

You have to have met in person at least once in the last 2 years and be able to prove that by sending copies of boarding passes, stamps in your passport, pictures (which are secondary evicence) with your initial petition.
The having met rule is a primary.

Best of luck!
