QUOTE (ndave @ Jul 4 2008, 05:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
All went smoothly for Deb's interview - she is approved! she should be in the States in 3 weeks.
The only strange thing was they asked for a police report done in her married name (she's been divorced for some time now). It never crossed our minds to do this, especially since Deb never changed her name after she got married. The interviewer had to go and check with a superior as to whether it still had to be done and the final decision was it did not need to be done provided she had not changed her name when married AND that she would swear to such (which she did).
Don't know if this has come up before

Congrats!!! smile.gif

I got my police report for my married name as well even though I rarely to never used my ex's last name just to be on the safe side smile.gif

Wow, I wonder how many of these I left hanging back in Canada?? Speaking of such, does anyone have Air Miles? This is going way back, but I have an account in my name; my ex-husband (back in Canada) has been racking up points for years, and I have tried to get them to put the account in his name, but they say that they can't do that. I figure if he is the one bothering to get the points, then he should be able to use them, but Air Miles says that since I'm the account holder, I'm the only one that can cash them in. And I don't think I can even cash them in from the US. Meanwhile, the ex (yes, he is actually a nice guy!) continues to rack up points for me, but until I can figure out what to do about it, then are just going to sit!

Anyone have to deal with Air Miles across the border? Any suggestions?

L (<---- who loves free stuff, but is also honest to a fault innocent.gif )

I closed my airmiles account by using all my points to book the hotel room in Montreal for my interview.
I think you can buy stuff online with them....I'd call and find out smile.gif

Canadawhere did you first meet? online vs in person
We met on City of Heroes...an online MMORG.
Neither of us were looking for anything...his character caught my eye, I private messaged him...we teamed for a bit...talked occasionally for months, then started talking more, then moved to MSN, video chatting, voice chatting...I was sooo smitten and finally he came to Canada to visit me for the first time in September 2006 and it was love at first kiss...actually...I loved him before I ever touched him.

It was meant to be <3

Cheryl, don't even worry about it!

Nick and I filed for our I-129F the day after I had my divorce papers in hand...we had no problems and I'm moving in 12 (make that 11 ohmy.gif ) days.

Don't worry, you'll be fine! smile.gif

CanadaPOE crossing
I remember reading on here about crossing at the POE and NOT to go in the "Trucks Only" part.

We will be driving down a 14 foot Uhaul and I don't want to go to the wrong area.
We will either be crossing at the Rainbow Bridge or the Peace Bridge.

Nick gets nervous about these types of things so I just want to clarify that we go to the regular Port of Entry area that a regular car would, right?

Thanks guys!!!

I got some nice gifts, my one friend made me a gift basket full of bottles of ketchup! laughing.gif so funny!!!

They also all pitched in together and gave Nick and I $600.00!!! I couldn't believe it!!!

CanadaLaura: Good luck on your last day at work!!!
What a roller coaster of emotion.
Good thing I had kleenex on me the entire day.

I cried, laughed, and cried some more.

I got more thoughtful gifts and so much support and love from people I've only known for 8 months. Unreal.

I am excited to start this next chapter of my life but part of me will always miss them...they were such a great, amazing group of people to work with.

Thanks to you guys too...You have made this journey so memorable and wonderful. I love you guys muchly.

P.S. Yes Kathryn, my store Manager has contacted corporate and the store down in the States that I'm closest to and they are working something out for me. I have letters of recommendation from many of my managers...I think I'll be ok in finding work at a Lowe's.

Jen!!!!!!
How completely thoughtful of you!
Thank you honey! biggrin.gif

Yesterday my Lowe's family gave me a huge book filled with pictures of everyone in the store, it was signed full of well wishes and lovely comments. I was moved to tears.

It's bittersweet. I've never had a job like Lowe's...sure, it's retail but....they have treated me so well, I will miss them all very very much.

My very dear friend and coworker Shelby is throwing a party for me on Sunday and many people are coming out....I still can't believe the love and friendships I have made over just an 8 month period, it's incredible.

Today is going to be tough so I thank you so very much for thinking of me.

I wonder if they would just give you a full license here in Canada if you had one in NJ? You might be able to avoid the test completely.... I don't know for sure though.

Highly doubt it. Two different sets of driving laws. Here is my question though, if you are set on living in NJ there is really no reason for you to think about your G. You can always drive in Ontario with your NJ license, and in fact, have to if you are driving you car down that is registered in NJ. If you really feel like you need it, you are just going to have to make an appointment and a trip down to the dmv.

Thanks smile.gif

So yeah...hi smile.gif
I'm a little slow and recently just got my G2 this past January....I'm 27 blush.gif

I have to take the test for my G license within the next 5 years....can I just come back up and take the test up here even though I'm not living here anymore? How will they update it with my address if I'm not living here....granted..it will be my parents address that's already on my license now but still...

Also...will they recognize in NJ that I don't have my full G license or will they not know the difference and just hand me over a license for down there? smile.gif

YAY me for being slow star_smile.gif

I've never really had a problem with Pearson....just American Airlines! mad.gif

I've always had very nice officers at the airport. The only problem I had one time was because I have a very very common last name and I was put into secondary because of it...They thought I was on the no fly list... wacko.gif

Luckily, after 5 minutes they realized I wasn't a terrorist or a fugitive and sent me on my way. blush.gif
