Laura,

Mine took 13 weeks. I'm sure I did mention that NJ is probably one of the most backlogged states because of the sheer number of immigrants. Most other states its like 2 weeks. Sorry it is taking so long but you are going to have to get used to a lot of shitty things in this state that involve waiting. Like the DMV...it took me 2 hours of waiting there just to be able to write my test. After all was said and done, I had been there for almost 4 hours.

I know...I just think it's so ridiculous.

On a good note, I got my biometrics appointment today for Halloween.
Also, our fixed marriage certificate came in under 5 days after sending it to be fixed...so that's a plus.

It's been 9 weeks.

Nick called (because I can't get through to talk to an actual human being unless I have a SSN...DUH! mad.gif ) and the man told him that they don't have access to that information and we'd have to actually go to the SSN office....sigh.

He also said it could take up to 3 months...when they letter they gave me said 2.

Whatever.

We'll go sometime this week I guess.

Just getting so tired of all of this.

Thanks Krikit...Our landlord STILL hasn't called Nick or I back...I'm going to call again today.

On a funny side rant, my beautiful and darling kitty Mojo got a whole roll of papertowel and ripped it to SHREDS in his room (the guest bedroom is his play room)

laughing.gif Welcome to the world of steam radiators! That sound it makes...can't do anything about it. I lived with it in apartments for years. To be honest though, it is the cheapest and most hot kind of heat in my opinion that you can get. I know it can be loud but it gives off a lot of heat when it gets going.

I'm not sure what causes the noise, I would assume is it the pressure. Some days are worse than others though.

Yeah. We don't pay for it, they just crank it up and bam...you got heat.
This is more than noise though hon...it's horrible.

It literally shakes the walls and the bed!!!

Is this going to be like this ALL DAY when the heat is on all the time???

*rips hair out*

I WOULD NOT HAVE TO QUIT IF YOU WOULD HAVE JUST GIVEN ME SOME SIMPLE ACCOMMODATIONS IN THE FIRST PLACE TO PREVENT ME FROM BURNING OUT!!!

I actually showed some balls for once and told her right over the phone that I'm filing a complaint with the EEOC because this whole situation is ridiculous and never should have happened. She then asked for another doctor's letter stating my restrictions so that they could grant me accommodations. HOW?! I don't have insurance anymore! Plus that is not required to make accommodations! You only need to turn in documentation that you have a disability, which I did in SEPTEMBER.

I HATE THIS SH*T, and I HATE MY LIFE. Why couldn't I have impairments that would actually KILL ME instead of ones that aren't going to kill me but will instead ensure that I have a very long, miserable life? I've dealt with struggle after struggle after struggle after struggle IN-F*CKING-FINITY since I was 11 years old. I am going to turn 27 in 13 days. IT HAS BEEN 15 YEARS OF CONSTANT STRUGGLE. CanadaRidiculous!!!!!!
So hi... mad.gif
I moved here in July.
I applied for my SSN on August 14th.

Today is now December 2nd and I still had not received my card.
Now you are probably wondering why I waited to long to go in and say..."Hey, what's up?" I only waited because others had said it took them blah blah blah amount of weeks...so I waited like a stupid idiot.
So I went on in today to see what the heck was going on....
Well, they issued me a number and they even mailed out the card on the 18th of AUGUST!
So, why didn't I get it???? Because our address is under Nick's name and not mine.........
We should have had a c/o under my name and address on the application.......
WHAT?!?
THANKS FOR TELLING ME! blink.gif

You'd think that these people who work at the SSN office would see...."Oh hey, this girl is applying for a SSN under a K1 visa...That means she has to be married!!! OH! maybe I should ask if her address is under her husbands name, or if there is a c/o that should be on here"....??? YA THINK?!?

BUT NO!

So I've been sitting here for the past 3 months with a SSN that I didn't even know I had.

Now since my I-94 is expired, I have to wait till I get my EAD to go in and apply for a new card. That's fine since I would have had to anyway in my married name...but still. I could have been under Nick's health care...I could have....sigh....done so much more right now.

The lady gave me my number so at least I have it now......Just a warning to those in the future...
Make sure that you give a c/o if your name isn't on the address or they won't deliver it.

Is it Colby-Jack?

I always brought back as much as I could hide when returning from my trips to Canada. The food there just tasted so much better. At the time I didn't know why that was, but it was obvious that there was something different. Of course, I usually brought back a few cartons of Player's Lights (or ExportA lights), too....

Nope, not Colby Jack....Bought some with wishful thinking but I was very disappointed.
It's different in Canada...white and yellow cheese curds, it's milder and just tastes...better.

Good for you on the bread maker.
I make bread too but when I can't, Nick and I buy Arnolds Brand bread. It even advertises "No High Fructose Corn Syrup" right on the package.

We've had several threads here in the Canada forums about HFCS, lists upon lists of foods containing HFCS and how to avoid them.
My parents have been bringing down/sending many different products from home because I simply cannot stand the taste of half the ####### down here.
Cereal, bread, pop, juice, jam, granola bars, soup, pickles..it's in EVERYTHING!!!! Blah. Even most of the chocolate tastes so gross.
I had my friend bring me so much stuff when she visited...tons of good old CANADIAN campbell's tomato soup, bread and butter pickles, granola bars, cereal...etc. etc.
Even the toothpaste down here has it and tastes like poop.
I'll be stocking up when I visit, that's for sure!

This is just a side note...I miss marble cheese so much...they don't have it here in Jersey for some odd reason...
They have this weird Monterey Jack/Cheddar mix but it tastes NOTHING like good old kraft marble cheese from back home. I'll be bringing some with me when I visit after Christmas.
