Australia and New ZealandAmerican in Australia looking to file K1
Hi, my process was straightforward and easy, USC was employed and living in America though. The only difficulty I could see for you is the lack of employment for you, the USC. Have you a co-sponsor? Or do you have work? Have you consider a spousal visa instead? You may find the benefits of that will suit you better than K1. Read the guides and follow the helps and pre-filled forms, putting the package together is easy enough.
Good luck

USCIS Service CentersVSC speeding up?
Hi All,

I have seen a thread recently where a number of K1'ers were going through VSC and being done REALLY fast, like less than 90 days...are these isolated? has anyone else noticed? Got an opinion you want to add on this?

USCIS Service CentersCSC as of today for k1 visa is currently processing the current day of......
Actually, when I was going through the K1 stage, I found that the posted data on the website was never accurate. There is no rhyme or reason to how USCIS operates. You get approved when you do. So looking at the timelines, checking the USCIS website and just trying to see where you are up to the in the queue won't tell you anything to go by. Some people waited way longer than I did, others waited less, yet most of us are through. It will happen and probably the best way to make the time go faster, while you are waiting to get married, is to play games with each other, get to know each other even better, and spend as little time as possible checking the website for where they want you to think they are up to...
A watched pot NEVER boils when you think it should, and a watched K1 never gets approved in a hurry!

United KingdomPacket 3

Hi everyone, I hope the weather isn't too miserable where you are. Jess and I are waiting our NOA2 after we received our NOA1 on July 11th. In the meanwhile I've gotten all my vaccinations sorted per the CDC website, tomorrow I'm getting paperwork signed to send off to ACPO for the Police certificates, I've received transcripts of my university degree to present to potential employers and (really importantly) booked flights to see her next month :D If I'm missing anything important please feel free to say :)

I just have a few questions about Packet 3. I was under the impression that this stage comes after NOA2 and its when Jess (as the USC petitioner) demonstrates that she earns over the poverty line. What I'm unsure about is;

  • At what stage does she compile Packet 3?
  • Does she send this direct to me or to the Embassy/USICS?
  • If she sends it to the Embassy I assume I also need a copy to present at the interview (God willing)

Thanks for any and all help,

Liam

Hi Liam,
it would be helpful if you had your timeline linked so we could see where you are up to. I'm a little hazy on packet 3 details so I'm going to leave that to someone else, but are you sure it's wise to fly over to see her next month? You may want to be here to get your medical booked, reply to packet 3, get your interview date set-up etc. CSC is generally faster than VSC and so your next step could be imminent.

United KingdomRenewed intent to marry??
Hi,
from what I understand the renewed letter of intent is not a copy of the original letter sent with with the I-129f.
It is a new letter, new date, new signature. So in other words, you type a letter of intent with similar wording and sign it so that it becomes a renewed letter of intent, not a copy of the old. If you have not done this, you need to do it FAST. I think...
double check the guidelines from the packet 3 info and on VJ guides.
Hope that helps.

It seems to really vary. Mine was amazingly fast, others have been waiting 9 months or more. You may be in the timeline that allows you have your Congressman check on progress. I'm sure there will be others who have CSC experience to comment on for you. I've put my timeline into my signature.
