My Wife and Kid had their interview in Chennai, India on June 2nd, 2009 at 9am and I was present there with them. Please find the review below: Here is our experience for our IR1/IR2 Visa Interview: Our interview was on June 2nd at 9:00 AM. We arrived at the Consulate in Chennai on Anna Salai at 8:30 AM and went through the basic security check. We were told to go to another building for Immigrant Visa Interviews. As soon as we got in a Lady called us up to counter number 8 and collected the Medical Reports and Visa Photos for my Wife and Kid and also had us make a few corrections on the DS-230 Forms. After about an hour and fifteen minutes at 9:45 AM a lady called us up to Counter 10 and asked for our Address and Phone Numbers so that when the Passports are couriered they would be sent there. She said since I had my 2 year old son with me she would call us up next for the interview with the Consulate Office. At 10:10 we were called up to Counter 9 for our Interview. The Officer asked my wife if she understood english and could speak it. My Wife replied with a yes!!! What happened next was wierd as she started asking me questions even though I am a Born US Citizen and I am the petitioner. She asked me the following: What have you been doing here in India since 2006? What have you planned to do once you take your wife and kid to the US? What does your father do and do you have any brothers or sisters? Next she said the Magic Words CONGRATS your VISA'S are ISSUED. They will be couriered to the address you have provided in 3-4 days. I asked if I could pick it up and she said yes but tomorrow between 4pm-5pm and handed me a paper of the details where I needed to go. The interview process was painless and really quick lasted less than 5 min. Before we got up there though I noticed she was carefully going through the forms we had submitted to NVC and also the Original documents which she returned to us herself at the end of the Interview. I left the US on July 2 2008 and returned on the 9th. The visit was short for the reason that I had to return due to work related responsibilities. I recently consulted an immigration lawyer who thought that he could get an approval, but thought the short ammount of time we spent together could be a problem. He thought I might need to take another visit to satisfy the possible skepticism of the embassy or the UCIS. Has anyone got any insight in to this or suggestions. He did say though, that it might not be a problem. I would appreciate any insight in to this possible. My fiance visited me last March of this year and planned to had a K1 Visa. I got denied for a tourist visa December 2007 and applied for K1 visa March 2008 and got APPROVED. But still it is 100% the consular officer's decision to allow petitioner in the interview room. In all cases petitioner's participation is not required or desired unless the officer asks you something in particular. The following four conditions would make you inadmissible on medical grounds: * individuals who are found to have a communicable disease of public health significance, including, chancroid; gonorrhea; granuloma inguinale; acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS); Hansen’s disease (infectious leprosy); lymphogranuloma venereum; infectious state syphilis; and infectious tuberculosis (Class A TB) * immigrant visa and adjustment of applicants who have not received all of the required vaccinations * individuals who have current physical or mental disorders, with harmful behavior associated with that disorder, or past physical or mental disorders, with associated harmful behavior that is likely to recur or lead to other harmful behavior * individuals who are found to be drug abusers or drug addicts Other medical conditions may be categorized as Class B and include physical or mental abnormalities, diseases, or serious/permanent disabilities. Waivers may be granted for Class B medical conditions. You will be required to provide proof of immunizations. If you have any records of immunizations (vaccinations), bring them to your appointment. The doctor will tell you if additional immunizations are needed and where you can get them (usually at your local public health department). Examination and Testing The doctor will examine you for certain physical and mental health conditions. You will have to remove your clothes for the medical procedures. If the doctor determines that you need more tests because of a condition found during your medical exam, you may be sent to your own doctor or to the local public health department for tests or treatment. Be completely honest during your exam and truthfully answer any questions posed by medical staff. It is not necessary, however, to volunteer more information than is requested of you. You will be tested for tuberculosis (TB). Applicants two years old or older will be required to have a tuberculin skin test or chest x-ray. The doctor may require an applicant younger than two to have a skin test if the child has a history of contact with a known TB case, or if there is another reason to suspect TB disease. My fiance(now husband) send I-129F last November and then didn't check USCIS website. Then it turn out that just 3 days before he passed from $ $455 the fee decreased. So what we done is just send back everything with the correct payment but we waited until January todo that bec. it Christmas season.
