K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp? - Additional last name on fiancee's BC

I cant make a real statement since Im not a US Embassy final authority. But I do have an experience with my younger sister. There was a "typo" with her name since Day 1. So eventually my parents decided to go back and fixed the "typo" . Soon after we realized her Visa did not matched her new passport. We asked the Embassy and we had to go to the Embassy and get a New Visa (although the previous one was still active), We had to show them all the proof of the name change, new passport and birth certificate. I know you all must be highly annoyed but just wait and see. Wish you all the Best and keep your hopes up, eventually It will come to you! smile.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F What embassy do we list?

Thanks! We'll be sure to list the Nairobi embassy.  It feels strange to do so (even though we're supposed to) but I suppose using an embassy in a third country is more common than I thought!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F What embassy do we list?

Hi folks,

We're *almost* ready to get our I-129F all polished off and ready to send (after researching and preparing for the past YEAR!).  A few questions first:

1. My fiance is a Rwandan citizen, but the American Embassy in Rwanda does not process any immigrant visas (including K-1). Instead, people seeking these visas have to go through the embassy in Kenya.  On the I-129F (Part 2, question 36) do we list the Nairobi, Kenya embassy because, ultimately, that's where he'll go for the interview? Has anyone else had to go through an Embassy in a third country like this?

2. I'm in the process of a big move (Florida to Arizona).  Is it unwise to file the I-129F now? I'll be settled in Arizona in a few months (with a job and everything!), but waiting until that's all said and done will push filing this petition back for another 4 to 5 months (which we would like to avoid).  Anyone have experience with this? I'm comfortable with filing address change forms, but I don't want to make this process harder/ more complicated by moving while everything is being processed.

I've read previous threads on here and all of the guides, so I feel quite prepared... these are just two lingering questions that are specific to our scenario. Hopefully someone out there has wisdom to share! Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresReturned Peace Corps Volunteer K-1 Visa petition

Hey there!

Fellow RPCV here.  I hope you've kept your Peace Corps passport in order to use the stamps as proof... but yes, I think it's fairly common for people to have more than one passport.  I would put down valid passport numbers in all forms, then simply include copies of your Peace Corps passport as proof of relationship (I only included the first handful of pages that had the personal info and all entry/exit stamps).  I think I also copied the front and back of my passport, so I included the little sticker that indicates that it's a special Peace Corps passport.

Definitely write out all abbreviations. It's better to attach extra sheets of explanations than to have confusing info.

I would put address info on a separate page while trying to be concise yet complete.  I know it's tricky but I tried to make my addresses in Rwanda mimic the US format as closely as possible while still remaining accurate (I had my fiance look up plot numbers at the local government office so we at least had a number for each residence).

Not sure about the last two.  Your fiance's father's date of birth isn't on any of his documents? (birth certificate, passport, etc?)  I would try to find it out but I'm sure there are people who don't have access to that information so there must be something to do in that case.

I ended up seeking the help of an immigration attorney, which is what I've recommended to another Rwanda RPCV who is going through this process.  I know it's sometimes not financially feasible but it helped me! If you do decide to go it alone- best of luck!

(note: I filed the 1-29F in April, with the help of our attorney... still waiting on approval)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter receiving NOA2 (K1 visa)

Hey Everyone,

I have a question -- After receiving the NOA2 notification (for K1 visa) does the petitioner (US citizen) get anything else mailed to them?
Or is mailing transactions now between the beneficiary (foreign fiancee) ?

Thanks :)

We're at the same point in our "journey." I've read through the guides and timelines and there's no real information about what happens between the NOA2 and the interview.  I have heard (and the VJ timelines confirm this) that it will be approximately 2 months between the NOA2 and interview... since we got the NOA2 on Sept. 18th, we're trying to be patient.... but we're so ready to be done with all the waiting!

Does anyone know how to follow-up with the consulate in a fiance's country? Or how to get any more info about this part of the process?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Petition and VJ
Hi all,
I just wanted to say that I am bringing my fiancee here on a K1 visa. I pounded the internet for a long time trying to find answers to the many questions that arise during a process like this. I found a great deal of information and thought I had a good grasp of what I neded to do and provide. Then I found this site and was blown away. This site is put together very well and all the information is invaluable. Thank you to all who have worked on this site to guide us through this process to bring our beloved home to be with us. It is very easy to find all the answers, if you just look. The forum can fill in the small gaps and more specific answers. I am sending my petition in a day or two and feel very confident that I am providing everything necessary to get this accomplished without hassle. The time element is the only thing that seems to be out of our hands. Thanks again to all and I will post my experience and timeline for the future petitioners and beneficiaries.

VJ has information on the medical requirements for Czech Republic. Dr names and numbers. The Embassy website or VJ will have all the information you need. Use the keyword search in VJ. The country name and the subject matter. i.e. Czech republic medical interview.. I know you are not going through czech republic but this is how i learned about what I needed to do. Try this for your country.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNow what?
I have checked on here USCIS & Port of Entry Information and Reviews to get the information about packet 3. I read very often to go to the Embassy website and download it. The website for the US Embassy in Czech Republic (Prague) does not have information on a Packet 3. But VJ does! The other thing to consider is that the police report from Uzbekistan, where my fiancee is from originaly, expires after 3 months (from what I read most expire after a year). She already got her police certificate and it will expire in April. So we will have to get another one once we get our NOA2. As far as the rest of the information required for packet 3 it is all available here on VJ and it is very similar from one Embassy to the other. Sinergy gave a good list applicable to most anyone.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress for Fiancee on I-129
My fiancee lives in a temporary place in another country. We filed for the county of the temporary address. That is where she will be and where she will go to the Embassy. It's the simplest way to go. Why spend the money to go back to Tiawan? Just go to the Embassy in China. As long as you fill everything out properly I don't see a problem with going to the closest Embassy. I may be wrong.

Since the K1 guidelines are very vague or no information is available on the website, I just wrote an email to the Embassy. Asked them a few questions and will print the answers and carry it with me to the interview.

According to VJ the second option is acceptable. I have instucted my fiancee to just have that filled out. I'm confused, VJ provides this template and I trust VJ. Can anyone expand on this more?

I just used a paperclip for each section. I put a post-it note next to each paperclip with a label of what the section is. i.e I-129f, G-325a petitioner, G325a Benenficiary, etc...
They will put it together how they need.

Not that I am aware of... Just make sure they have your mailing address and also set up an account on the USCIS website so you can e-mails from them.

I have everything set up, was just wondering about the calls. Thanks though.

The green card, the idea of being in love, the idea of security... None of these reasons are good enought to bring your kids into a situation that you haven't fully examined. You should work out a trip for one of you to go meet the other. There really is no other way. The extreme hardship options are a slim chance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshi there everyone
I have bad feelings for you and what you call "the whole story" means nothing to anyone here. If you love someone enough to get married and live together you should not even want to talk to any other man. The fact that you are talking to another man is atrocious. You will get denied and if found fraudulent you may be banned from the US. For our sakes I hope you are!

Well... I was told by the US embassy that the translator has to be court certified. They have a certain stamp that is issued and that is the only stamp acceptable on translated documents. I would check with your Embassy.

Yes Sara... I am aware of your situation and it is tragic it has taken so long. USCIS must be the devil to you by now. I think one day the system will be better and actually work. Unfortunately it will be after we are all finished with them. Good luck to you Sara

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdoes calling uscis do any good?
I understand the 6 month mark. I also understand that USCIS has NO information. Call them and ask them "What is my address?" They will say " I can not see any personal information" They have access to the exact same web interface we see. If it says " Case received and pending" when you look at it. That is what is says when they look at it. Making a move before your allotted time is just impatience. I want my lady here too... But I am following the rules.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdoes calling uscis do any good?
The problem with the USCIS system is that everyone tries calling them before the 6 month mark. We all have to wait and are impatient. If I worked for USCIS and I got calls all day from people without real issues, just "I wanna know..." I would limit things too.
D_n_MMaleCzech Republic2009-06-12 07:54:00

Stop calling them. They have no information for you. They can not even tell you what your address is. Just wait like the rest of us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow accurate is the ucis status online?
I'm in the same boat, as well as many others. The site will not be reliable for you. Many people have already gone through the process and the website still says "received and pending". Hang in there, it will come one day. You will most likely only know when it arrives via postal service.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo NOA2 yet, but letter from NVC
I have no NOA2 either. I found out I was approved by calling NVC. I have called USCIS and ask for them to send it. I moved a month after filing and called to change my address. I changed it online and called them, I even received a letter saying they changed it to the new address. Low and behold they kept the old address and when it went to NVC the old address was in the system. Who knows if they sent it to the old address or just didnt send one....
