You and your fiance may also want to read the K1 Guide: http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

Scroll down and read the steps on What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

After you receive the NOA2 (Approval Notice), your case will be forwarded to the NVC, where it will be assigned a case number (it starts with MNL). From there, the file will be sent to the US Embassy in Manila for review and visa processing.

Once they have your file, you will need to contact their call center and set an appointment for your visa interview.

There are shortcuts to this, and you can review posts by a VJ member named thepizzadude; we used these shortcuts to save us 3 weeks of waiting time...so it is worth investigating.

When you have done that, you have to make sure you have all of your forms, supporting documents, visa fees and medical completed before the interview date. Here are the instructions in English: http://photos.state.... Packet_001.pdf
and here are the instructions in Tagalog: http://photos.state....ag_rtf3_001.pdf

During the interview you will know the same day whether you passed or not. The Guides also have information on how you can prepare for your interview...you can also talk with the VJ members and ask about their experiences...how they prepared their documents and how they answered questions asked by the immigration officer.

You will also need to undergo counselling through Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), PRISM or SMEF-COW (PRISM and SMEF-COW would be better), and get the CFO sticker before your departure.

Hope this helps.

What do you mean it is out of date?

You may want to create a timeline and update your profile, so that other VJ members may be able to help you better...it is hard to answer questions that are not clearly presented, and if your profile and timeline information is missing or incomplete...there may be VJ members who have had the same experience as you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdo i still need to obtain a police clearance?
Saudi doesn't grant police clearances to third country residents after they have exited Saudi Arabia.

That question was recently asked and answered through this thread: http://www.visajourn...he-philippines/

Hi! I need some advice because my fiance is back in the Philippines now after working in Saudi Arabia for 11 months. The problem is she is having a hard time getting a police clearance from Saudi Arabia which she might need on her interview. She asked some of the employees in the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) that does the processing of such documents in other countries and they said all they do is pass the documents but they dont have any assurance that she will get any response from Saudi. What should I do? It might take months just waiting for the police clearance or she even might not get one. I asked some people and they said that u have to apply in Saudi personally to get one which she cant because her working visa in saudi is expired. Help me out here pls. thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS case status update (UNUSUAL THING HAPPEN)
Go to the USCIS website.

Look to the left side of the webpage, Click on Sign up for case updates.

Then click on Register as an applicant customer

Follow the instructions, then register your USCIS case number, the one that starts with 3 letters followed by 10 digits.

You can also put down if you want to receive updates via e-mail or SMS...but please note that you will ONLY receive e-mail or SMS alerts for major milestones in your application, such as an RFE or to notify you if the petition has been approved or refused...not when your file has been touched.

From there you can sign into your account check your progress, just look at the Last Updated column...every time the date changes, it means your file has been touched.

So how exactly do I sign up for recieving INFO like TOUCH ?!

If you included a G-1145 form on your petition, after the USCIS picks up your package, they should inform you through e-mail and/or SMS if they received your package and will also provide you a case number...the hard copy of the NOA1 should follow by mail with the same case number on the letter.

Ok, sweet. Thanks! Hopefully it will be deliverd in the next few hours. :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question
Was your fiancee born in the U.S.? Is that what the birth certificate was for? (to prove US citizenship?) Your fiancee needs to provide you a complete photocopy of whatever was sent to USCIS so you can study it during the interview...and if ever the interviewing officer says they lost or misplaced something you have the copy with you.

Daughter's NSO birth certificate will be needed during the interview, not when the I-129F is filed, however she does have to be listed on the form.

We are about ready to file our I-129F packet but i just want to ask two questions :
1. if we need to include the birth certificate of my daughter (previous marriage) ?
2. do i need the original birth certificate of my US citizen fiancee in my interview ?
Thank you so much for the time .Really appreciate all the inputs you all will share .Good luck on our journey :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshelp on our journey
Glad we can help. :)

As far as I know, the Philippines is not high fraud...but they do tend to give fiance(e) applicants a harder time than most (I could be wrong...but it is just my personal observation...had to highlight that in case I get bashed for anything lol...please don't take my words to heart too much lol...you need to do some research, like a lot of us have...and ask the right questions :) ).

I'd suggest that you go ahead and start preparing your petition and supporting documents...then if any of you get stumped with anything, look it up first (because a question you may have could have been answered previously and repeatedly lol)...and if you can't find what you are looking for, then you can post your questions here or on the Philippine Regional Discussion forum. :)

And yes, I-129Fs go to a Dallas Lockbox now.

TO: marriedtomrG, Amyyduck, RyanH, jrmejia

thankyou for the replies! that eased my worries a bit.. i'll edit my profile then..
but im from the Philippines and my fiancee is in LA.. we're both Filipinos..

are we highfraud?

we havent filed yet but everything goes to texas now, right? or wrong? heheh

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshelp on our journey
Hi there.

You may want to update your profile and include some additional information, like the foreign fiance(e)'s country of origin as well as where you are in the process so that other VJ members who are in the same boat can help you better. There are also Regional Discussion forums here so you can also get location specific information as your case requires.

You don't need so many pictures, up to 10 pictures with date stamp would be sufficient for your petition and a handful of Skype and YM conversations would be ok. While waiting, both of you should compile more proof for the foreign fiance(e)'s interview...at the very least you should prove that you have met in person at least once. Am sure some of the other members will offer some great advice as well.

There are VJ members here with more significant age gaps, so yours shouldn't be too much of a concern. And no, I don't think you are moving too fast with an application...some VJ members would have filed the next day if all of their paperwork was ready.

My husband and I met on eHarmony in May 2008 and he flew to the Philippines to see me in Aug 2008...and proposed 2 days after he arrived. :) You guys aren't the only members to meet online, and I'm pretty sure you won't be the last, either. :D

Good luck with your journey!

hello everyone..new here and so thankful for this site..really!

we're just starting to file and frankly my question is "How much is too much?"
I've got about 30 pixs already.. 30 skype/ym conversations. and i have more and i dont know where to end..

My fiance and I met on Facebook, about a year ago - would the USCIS think that weird? I thought he was a former officemate so i approved his friend request. and he said he thought I was working in a different department but same hospital. We liked each other a lot. The moment we started chatting, we've been talking everyday.. no misses.. then we met up in person last month, August for 10days only and we hope to file this October.. is that too fast? Im 35 and he's 40..will age matter?

our pixs before meeting up are just2-3. because we didnt really document the initial stages of our relationship coz we didnt plan on this happening..

my brain is like a sponge right now.. i read the guidelines almost complete but i dont know where to end?

any inputs please..thank you in advance :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Q#10: help please
No they are different.

Did you apply for naturalization on your own (meaning you filed your own N400)? or did your parents do it for you?

If you tick on Naturalization, then type in your Certificate number, that's fine.

But if you received your Naturalization as a result of your parents applying, then you tick that box, and provide the information as requested.

hello again u guys and gals. need your inputs. don't really want to make mistakes.
i searched the site but couldnt find answers..

im really confused with Question 10: Citizenship

Im naturalized .. so how does this go..

[ ] Birth [x] Naturalization

[certficate number:12345]--------> i got this one

[ ]Parents -----------------------> what does this mean?

Certificate in my name
[ ] YES [ ] NO ---------------> am i suppose to tick YES? are they asking the same as the 1st one?
[certificate number:12345] -------> again, are they asking the same as the 1st one?[/

hope to hear from you.. thanks so much.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLegal name vs social name
Well...that's what AKA is...also known as. So for me, I treated my nickname as an alias.

When I was still working in the Philippines, I used my nickname on my business cards. No one ever calls me by my legal name except the silly telemarketers who don't know you have a nickname. lol Besides, I figured that if the feds ever did a background check on me, more people know me by my nickname more than my legal name...so I put it on my G-325A as other names known by. Didn't have to include any other explanation with it.

But if you use your legal name in all official transactions (like signing contracts) or official identification, then you only have to put your legal name(s) on the NBI clearance.

For the purposes of illustration, let's say my names were:
Single: Jennifer Jane Ramos Mendoza (as listed on my birth certificate)
First Marriage: Jennifer Jane Mendoza Santos
Second Marriage: Jennifer Jane Mendoza Jones

I've been married twice so on my NBI clearance my name is listed as follows:
Name: MENDOZA de JONES, JENNIFER JANE y RAMOS
AKA: MENDOZA de SANTOS, JENNIFER JANE y RAMOS

Is a nickname considered an alias? Would the NVC/USCIS/US Embassy/Consulate expect that the nickname be included in the name search when getting a police clearance/certificate?

You may handwrite the A# on her form, that's acceptable.

As long as she writes the address consistently on all her paperwork, it should be fine.

Ok... So I received her documentation and we were under the impression that she did not have one. May I print this number on a sticker and place it over that area?

Or how can I fix this mistake without needing her to redo and resend these papers, it will take another 1-2 weeks off my time and I can not wait anymore, I mean I can, but I want my baby back so I want this to happen as quick as possible.

I am also having some confusion with her address, Her street name has different variations... It begins Iz, some people write it Is, omg I dont want to be denied for this.

You mean the I-129F package? (I-129 is a different petition)

Best if you follow the instructions on where to file...I believe it's the Dallas Lock Box (based on which state the US citizen fiance(e) lives)....then you don't have to worry too much about it getting lost in transit (for the most part, anyhow). Mail it by USPS with Delivery Confirmation.

What's the best thing to do when it comes to sending the I-129 package?

My husband's divorce decree was only one page; he and his ex didn't have any property to split nor any children, so it was short and sweet.

You may want to send all 6 pages, since your circumstances may be different.

I have a question. I know I must submit proof of my divorce when submitting the I-129F. I do have the final decree issued by the courts. Do I have to send in a copy of the entire decree which is 6 pages or can I just send in the 1st page and the last page which has the judges stamp on it ?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's In Package 3?
In the Philippines, they don't send Packet 3 or Packet 4 anymore; it's just referred to as interview instructions, which you can download from the US Embassy Website.

English: http://photos.state.... Packet_001.pdf
Tagalog: http://photos.state....ag_rtf3_001.pdf

Maxx121, when you get to the point that your fiancee calls the US Embassy to schedule the interview, and provide an e-mail address, these are the same links the agent at the US Embassy will provide.

Hmm, good questions i always assumed package 3 was the consulate contacting my fiance sending forms and such that she must fill out and bring to her interview and telling her she needs to take a medical, but a hard answer would be nice :) and for that matter whats in packet 4?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed a little help filing form I-485
Here's a link to the I-485 instructions: http://www.uscis.gov.../i-485instr.pdf (this is a separate download from the I-1845 itself)

You're applying for adjustment of status Based on admission as the fiance(e) of a U.S. citizen and subsequent marriage to that citizen. (page 1 of the instructions)

On Page 4, Evidence of Eligibility, letter B, you need to provide a copy of your I-129F NOA2, a copy of your marriage certificate and a copy of your I-194.

Sorry if I mess this up, I'm inexperienced with forums.I'm on a K-1 visa and have everything else collected that I need, I just need a little help with the instructions for filing the I-485. I've searched and can't figure out which one I'm supposed to send. In the section of the instructions "Where should you file form I-485?" The instructions say "You must include a copy of the form I-797C, Notice of an Action, of an approved form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, or form I-360, Petition for Amerasian Widower, or special immigrant, or other official document reflecting a current priority date and family preference, or file your application together with a form I-130 or form I-360 as appropriate." I can't figure out which of those apply to me, any help would be appreciated greatly.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 Question
She will have to cut her vacation short sometime after your NOA2 is released...because she can expect your I-129F to be transferred to the NVC then the US Embassy within 4 to 6 weeks of that (assuming there are no other delays)....and she will have to prepare for her interview. Am assuming you guys indicated US Embassy Manila as the consulate that will conduct her visa processing. If that's the case, she needs to return to the Philippines and get her interview requirements --- including the medical --- completed before the interview date (which you or she has to set an appointment for).

She can ask relatives to help her compile some of her documentation, but documents like the NBI clearance, and procedures like the medical have to be done IN PERSON.

Would there be any problem if she plans to return on january?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 Question
Hi there.

There is no more packet 3 or packet 4. What the US Embassy issues (c/o the agents applicants contact to make their visa interview) are links to an interview preparation checklist.

English: http://photos.state.... Packet_001.pdf
Tagalog: http://photos.state....ag_rtf3_001.pdf

The passport is needed during the medical examination; St. Luke's will collect the passport at the end of the examination and they will forward the passport and results to the Embassy. Your fiancee will get her passport back after the interview (she will also know then if she passed or not).

Average processing time for I-129F petitions is 5 months. When is she leaving for Australia?

My fiance is living in Philippines and next month will be going to Australia for vacation (approximately 3 months). We started the process last Aug. 18 2010. Now my concern is do we need her original passport for the packet 3? Because we are planning to prepare everything for the packet 3 before she leaves the country next month.

Would there be any problem?

Average processing for I-129F petitions is 5 months. You are still within processing times; it's best to call them (and ask for an Immigration Service Officer, or ISO) when your process has gone over 160 days. Just hang in there.

I thank you for the info and reply, however, I have tried the same number and all it gave me was a run around by an automatic voice machine. Is there a way or loophole to go through the automated machine and talk to a live person?

Thanks

You can include the G-1145 either way.

Good luck with your journey!

Well, everything is ready. All 58 pages. Loaded it up good to fend off any RFE's (I hope). :innocent:

:help: Question... When I mail to Dallas, if I use USPS priority mail flat rate I can add the G-1145 E-Notification form and mail to PO Box. If I send Express or Courier and send to the street address then I don't use the G-1145 form. Is this correct, or can you use the G-1145 for either address?

 Also just want to thank all that helped me directly or indirectly in getting my Visa Journey started. I have my fingers crossed that the interview will come fast, but I won't hold my breath since I know that there are many in line already.

Thanks a bunch,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP! K1 REQUIREMENT QUESTION
I answered this in another post you made.

We started the I-129 on August 18 and now Im waiting for the NO2. My fiance in Philippines is leaving next month (October 22) will be going to Australia for vacation (approximately 3 months) will be back on January.

Now my concerns are - would there be any problem/ or should I ask, will the Immigration in the Philippines wait for you at your own phase to prepare all the requirements to be passed? or should we start to prepare all the requirements now and let her relative send the requirements to the immigration because she is out of the country? (Original passport would be a problem if needed to be passed. and medical examination)

Anyone could tell us any advise on this please. Would there be any problem?

All your kids have to be listed/declared, even if one of them is already an American citizen. Only two of them will be processed for immigration, and that will be reflected in your fiancee's and her kids subsequent visa applications.

Also, during the interview, your fiancee will need the I-134 affidavit of support, and your US citizen child is included in the household member count.

Some of the documents, like the NBI clearance and the CENOMAR, would be best applied for if closer to the interview date and not earlier...they both have to be current so you don't wind up requesting for them again.

Nope, nada.

After you receive the NOA2, USCIS will forward your I-129F petition to NVC to be assigned a case number. From there it will be forwarded to the U.S. Embassy Manila. She can either wait for the Embassy to contact her via snail mail, or you can help her do the proactive thing by tracking the movement of the package from NVC to U.S. Embassy Manila and start calling their agents within a week after the petition has been delivered.

How? Do a search here for a VJ member named thepizzadude and in his posts he describes how you can get the NVC case number in advance and how to get an Embassy interview date without waiting for snail mail.

K1 petitioners or applicants set the interview schedules themselves through calling the US Embassy toll-free line. Once you or your fiancee schedules the interview date, she has to get all the supporting documents compiled, the visa fee paid and the medical done well before her interview. Again, all the documents on the list are handcarried to the Embassy on her interview date.

no not yet... we have not recieved the NOA2 yet... so there will be no requirements to be send then? they will just schedule the interview and she should carry all the requirements there?
