PhilippinesNo Medical Schedule but we do have a Interview Date

I'm guessing that the email from NVC will be sufficient to show at St. Lukes to be able to have their medical. I'm not 100% certain, but I think the NVC is the one who schedules interviews for your type of visa, and there will be no letter from the Embassy. To double check, you might want to call the NVC to verify this.

Thanks, I might do that once I'm back home. I'm out of state right now.

But if people here already experience having their medical just showing the email printout of their Interview Date from the NVC, please post it here. So we'll know. Thanks so much.

PhilippinesNo Medical Schedule but we do have a Interview Date
Thanks....My parents didn't received a physical mailed letter for their Interview Date. I only received an email from NVC for their Interview Date. Will that(email printout letter) be sufficient to show at St Lukes entrance, and be able to have their medical done?

I want it clarify because I don't wanna spend airplane tickets and pay hotel stay and then be told that they have to wait for that physical letter for their interview date.

BTW, Happy New Year to All!!! :D

Thanks sis...How do they schedule themselves for medical. Just walk in and show their Interview date letter or call St Luke's on the phone to schedule it?

PhilippinesNo Medical Schedule but we do have a Interview Date
Hi, I just received yesterday that my parents case is complete and they're sending their papers at Manila Embassy. NVC gave us an interview date for Feb 3, 2011 but they haven't given us any medical schedule yet. Can my parents have their medical test now even when we still waiting for a letter to schedule them for their medical? Or should we wait when Manila Embassy have their papers then have their medical.

Either way can they have their medical eventhough they haven't got their medical schedule and just present the NVC email letter that their case is complete and their interview date is schedule for Feb 3rd?

Hope someone can answer... TIA. :D Appreciate it...

PhilippinesProblems with CENOMAR in the Philippines
I don't know if this will help or not but here's the story about my Parents Marriage Certificate.

My parents got married twice, once in civil on 1977 and another on the church on 1980. For some reason, what the NSO has is their church wedding. My father got a SECPA copy on 2004 and what's in their record is still the church wedding. But when I petition them and I submitted that Marriage certificate (church date wedding), and later have them get another copies of their marriage certificate that's when everything turn upside down. They now have their Civil Marriage Wedding Date recorded and they won't give them the Church Wedding Marriage Certificate (which they have been using) since the Civil Wedding was the first wedding they have and that should be the one they will use but since they just updated their system recently they just now found out about the Civil Wedding Date. Which is hogwash since everytime my father get a copy of their marriage certificate as requirements for some applications, he jot down the Civil Wedding date but they always gave him the Church Wedding Date Marriage Certificate. He even kept on correcting them but they always say they don't have a copy of their Civil Wedding only their Church wedding but now it's just updated.

So maybe that "fake" marriage she got was registered late.

And yes, there was a bunch of spelling or mistype on their certificate that we need to correct. It's now okay. Thank God.

Philippinesxoom coupon anyone?
I called xoom and they said there's no coupon code this Jan.

Anyway, if you used your US Bank account (and not your debit/credit card) even if you sent $2500 the fee is only $7.99. That is still a big savings compared to others like WU or moneygrams.

PhilippinesTaking a philippine phone to the states

PI phones work in the US as long as it is multi band (supports roaming) since different countries use different frequencies.

Roaming charges cost a fortune though. If you want to be practical, there are other ways to connect to the people here in the PI for less.

If you have an iPhone, the Chikka app enables you to send free texts here and abroad. Replies from cellphones costs just 2.50 pesos. Just a little more than regular txt.

My fiance and I both have iPhones so we're constantly connected through YM or Kik Messenger when we are mobile. Lets us do voice calls too :)

PS. Yahoo Messenger (even the iPhone app) also works in the PI for sending/ receiving txt messages.

Not all people have iPhones though. And I can't get chikka app to work at all.

Anyway, if they do have a wifi enable phones (like N80 etc) they could download skype or IM + if their sim is not roaming as long as they are connected to a free wifi hotspot, they can communicate with you.

If not, then having a roaming sim wouldn't hurt. Once they are settled here, they will of course (I'm willing to bet) have new phones. And there are lots of ways to communicate to your loves ones in the PI.

PhilippinesTaking a philippine phone to the states

If she has an iphone or android, she can get a text free app and send free texts to the philippines

http://itunes.apple....8&ign-mpt=uo=6#

"CAN I TEXT TO OTHER COUNTRIES?Free texting to: Australia, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guam, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Venezuela. Give other countries a try!"

I tried this app (text free with voice), they don't received it there in PI been trying to. But it's a great app sending text, MMS and calls for free here in US.

Philippinesno vaccinations records for St.Lukes medical exam
Well, I will share the recent medical experience of my parents. It was done on Jan 18-19. My father got a tetanus shot almost 3 months ago, it needs 2 weeks and a few days to be 3 months. Anyway, he declared that when he went and have his medical. Since it was done recently St Lukes wants the certificate. There's even a problem bec the doctor who administered the shot transfered to a different hospital just recently too, just the weekend before their medical. And they couldn't find his records. My sister (who is an RN) went to the hospital to help, on looking for that records. They found it but since the one who will make the certificate is not there anymore, they have to wait another day. It's a BIG hassle.

So anyway, what I'm saying is this. If she has a vaccination recently and it's not over 3 months yet. St Lukes will asked for the certification for that. But if it is over 3 months no worries, you're okay.

PhilippinesTax Returns
Even if you do stuff electronically, if you print your returns before submitting it electronically you can send those to your fiancee. Or go to your account in Turbo Tax/H&R Block or the free efiling from IRS website or any tax software you use to submit your tax electronically and print out a copy of the tax you submitted on IRS. You can use those to send to your fiancee. And don't forget to include the electronic form signature.

PhilippinesPicking Up Visa In Manila
@messybrownhair, love your wedding website it's like a fairy tale...you can make a movie out of your love life/journey. Congrats and Best Wishes...

Back to topic, from what I see from other timelines it looks like they usually get their visa after 6 days after the interview date. :) So we're crossing our fingers that we'll have ours next week on friday. ;)

PhilippinesVisa DELIVERY
Hi,

My parents would have got their visa on Tuesday AM if they haven't went out and look for tickets. We're comparing prices which one is the cheapest...

Anyway, my cousin was there in the house but the guy from 2go who delivered the visa didn't gave it to my cousin. He will give it to my parents when they are there in the house. He said he will be back on Wednesday 2/09/2011.

If they were at home that time the delivery of their visa took 3 days from the date of their interview 2/03/2011.

But no worries, they'll have it tomorrow, wednesday.

So happy...

PS: My parents are in Cebu...Posting it here so people know how long visa delivery will take.

PhilippinesVisa APPROVED

Congrats !

Can I ask dumb question here ?

What are basic rules for bringing parents/siblings over ?

As long as they are immediate family ? Are you US citizen ?

Thanks

Thanks....

There's no dumb questions, that's how we learn. To ask. Research. Read.

Basic rule? the important things are this:

-You need to be a US citizen to petition parents and siblings. If you are only LPR you can only petition your spouse and children, can't petition parents or siblings.

-Support (Income is 125% Poverty Guidelines)

-Evidence (Supporting documents)

That's it. And yeah, follow the steps by steps guide in filing I-130.

And Yes, I am a US Citizen.

After the interview the CO said to them Congratulations! You're APPROVED! Welcome to the US!

Interview Questions was:

-How many children do they have?
-How many are in the states?
-Where will they stay when they arrive in the US?

They asked my mom only one question, most were asked on my dad. :)

PhilippinesDelta flight issue
I was also thinking the same thing for my parents...I guess I will let them buy the tickets then online with their own credit card just to avoid this from happening to them.

PhilippinesVisa on Hand/Delivered today
@calibob, not sure yet. Seems like what they found and what I found are the same prices. Maybe varies a $100 bucks. But it already included the taxes and fees. So I think it's just even... What we are afraid of that promo price is that: The promo doesn't have any definite date/flight date. So if you buy tickets from the promos you're in limbo what date you will fly out. If they have an opening they will put you on any available slot. My father wants to have a fixed date so he can map out the date left for him to do stuff before coming here. Also if something were to happened to that flight and needs to be change they might charge you additional fees.

And when they were also canvassing for tickets most of the Travel Agency doesn't have any flight dates for April only March. Some has but it is too expensive like almost $2K each.

Thanks TravellingNomad and Mia Sav. It's my parents coming here in US not me. I'm already here.

PhilippinesVisa on Hand/Delivered today
@momsjourney, for my Mom only 1 question...actually it wasn't even a question the CO just said he likes her blouse, the color is the same as the University of Tennessee shirt and he is proud of it.

For my Dad, he was asked:

-How many children do they have?
-How many are in the states?
-Where will they stay when they arrive in the US?

And most are just YES and NO question. Like: Is this 123 street, city/state is the petitioner address?

That's it...

@happyndinlove, Thanks...yeah, the process is a long wait. You have to apply for US citizenship to petition them and have enough dough. :o And tourist visa is mostly hit and miss in PI.

maybe you could check this out: http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

Direct Consular Filing...

You petition him there in US Embassy Manila.

Here's a thread that did it successfully: http://www.visajourn...ines-we-did-it/

Good luck and God Bless...

Oooppss didn't quite read it right, you want your family to meet him... so it's either tourist visa or K1 first before you marry..

PhilippinesWill the Pharmacies here Honor the prescription that is given by a Philippine doctor?
@LifeJourney, yes I know that. What I'm asking is for the meantime if their medical insurance doesn't start yet, we have some way of getting the meds.

They have medical insurance covered there in the Philippines too and we asked if it will be honored. They said it will but we have to pay the whole amount first then we'll be reimburse the cost. (That will be a pain in the B***) But anyway, if we don't use their PI medical insurance since we'll be waiting to get them on their own medical insurance here, we need something just in case. I know a diabetic specialist already here in TN and a center where they teach/support group for diabetic patient.

Thanks for that, 3-6 months supply might be okay until she needs to be seen by the doctor, and I bet she'll have her insurance then set up. :) Thanks for the help and concern. I'm grateful for it. Shows people cared.

Love VJ! (L)

@Sergi9 and tmma, Yes we have urgent care here just across the street. Walking distance. And yes, we need prescription of the syringes here in TN. But her meds are not separate. It's one injectionable pen shots thingy, I don't know what's it's called. But I might also tell my parents about the syringes prescription.

Thanks for the reminder and tips.

PhilippinesWill the Pharmacies here Honor the prescription that is given by a Philippine doctor?
Thanks Life'sJourney, I'll tell them to bring her medical records when they come here. No problem in translations since they usually use English in documents there in the Philippines but I will mention this to them. Thank you. :)

Lexlee08, thanks. It's not my forte since I haven't bought any meds online. My sister knows more about this, she has experience, so I'll pass this on her court, lessen the burden on my part. But yes, I will look into that.

Their time to come here is fast approaching...and I want to be ready so their transition is quite as painless as possible.

Thank you for all the help, I so much appreciate it. (F)
