IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAge Difference? 15-20 years??

not specific for the embassy at all. as far as i know, there aren't any guidelines/suggestions from my embassy regarding what constitutes "good evidence" or whatever. I just want to make sure that there is ample evidence for the CO so that there is as little reason for doubt as possible. I spose it's more of a reflection of who i am than where our interview will be ;) I'd rather have something be someone else's fault than mine  I'm sure that there won't be enough time to go through this all, but who knows which one will be the most useful or which is the magic silver bullet for the CO. So having my bases covered makes me feel a bit more safe about the process. If you were a CO and you saw all that, how much doubt would you have? ;) I also want to make sure that my wife feels confident when she goes for the interview - especially if i can't be with her. I'm sure that you can get away with less (and I'm sure that people will post that they have). As I said... it's just me. :) Luck favors the prepared, right? ttyl,

mich

Thanks for your advice.

Mich, did you assemble all that evidence in response to what you need for that particular embassy? (Just wondering 'cause I didn't realize I'd have to organize a bunch of stuff like that, though I guess I can... I thought wedding photos, joint accounts, a phone bill or two, and health insurance cards would be enough.)

Outrageous and insensitive? Awesome!

Just curious, what "bitter truth" are you talking about?

I expressed my opinion about why the OP might not be getting the kind of responses she wants. The fact is, some people prefer not to focus on the negative or surround themselves with people who do. VJers with lots of experience like AussieW have been trying to help the OP and provide support by suggesting potential causes for the delays and by reminding her that the process involves lots of patience. How are they thanked? By being told that she doesn't like their responses?

So I guess what I want to hear when I'm upset over this wait (separated from my husband, often bedridden with multiple sclerosis, in pain, tired beyond belief) and frustrated is - "Yeah, it's crummy, isn't it? The USCIS is indeed slow and inefficient." NOT - "Oh, you gotta give the USCIS credit ..." or "Oh, your application is delayed because you or your name..."

That's my kind of validation.

Sorry you felt like I was attacking you. That wasn't my intent at all. You were wondering why people weren't giving you the responses you wanted, and I explained how I feel when I see several negative-toned posts.

(Good for you for being politically proactive. I admire people who are. )

Just to clarify, I'm definitely not wearing "rose coloured glasses". I think the process is inefficient and unfair too. I have great sympathy for people like you who have to deal with serious illnesses on top of the immigration mess. It breaks my heart to read about couples from Morocco, Pakistan, Egypt, etc. who get put on endless AR. It makes me sad to read about people from places like Vietnam or countries in South America who get refused at their interview and have to start the process all over again. It also makes me depressed to know many kids are growing up with only one parent around. I realize I'm lucky because I'm from a low-risk country like Canada and will probably get through faster than many others. I doesn't mean I'm not aware of what others are going through, or can't have sympathy for them.

Anyway, good luck with your journey. I hope one of your petitions get approved soon!

If you don't like the responses you're getting on VJ, I'm sure there are other fora out there.

Personally, I don't like reading posts from constant complainers (or being around those types of people in "real life"). I'd rather surround myself with people who take positive action when they see a problem. In this case it might be organizing a letter-writing campaign or supporting others who are going through the process. Don't just sit around and complain if you don't like the process, do something.

My name is Andrea da Silva. Let me first start off by saying, that in the Summer of 2004, I worked for the Nevada Republican Party, on your campaign. I walked miles daily, in 100+ temperatures, wearing your shirt, carrying your flyers, and knocking door to door, all over Las Vegas & outskirts of Henderson, encouraging residents to register to vote; and to VOTE FOR POTER. I helped you that summer, and now, I'm asking you for help.

It's like you're saying, "Hey, I did you a favour, now can you help me?"

btw, It probably isn't a great idea to put your real address and phone number on here for everyone to see. Just asking for trouble, in my opinion.

That's fine! Wow, there are so many cynical people on this site. You can just sit on your little throne, and do nothing, and wait and wait.... But me, I'm going to try EVERYTHING possible, including selling my soul to the devil if I have to, to get my husband here sooner. And if none of it helps, then so be it. At least to hell, I know I tried-that I did everything I could...and I can live that.

Speaking of thrones...

No, not really. Wouldn't you write a letter, or do whatever you could, even to fail, to just know you tried everything? I know of others who have done what I'm doing, which is where I got the idea from, and it worked for them. Afterall, I do pay my congressman and senators with my taxes...it's their job to help me if they can.

No, I wouldn't. I'd wait in line like everyone else because I truly believe that's the only fair thing to do. I have tons of sympathy for people who are experiencing true hardships, for medical reasons or whatever, and think they should go right to the front of the line, but if cases like yours are successful, I'll lose even more faith in the system.

I understand your great desire to be with your husband (we all want this process to be concluded ASAP), but if something like that works, won't that indicate that the US government is more corrupt than ever? It seems like you're asking to be repaid for a favour? (Yes, I know we have political scandals in Canada too.)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEmailing NVC

I have seen in multiple people's timeline that they email the NVC about their choice of agent. This surely beats sending in the physical form. Whats the NVC email address for accomplishing this task? :help:

Can you please post your timeline?

One thing to remember is not to send the email until you know they've generated the DS-3032.

Good luck! :)

We received our RFE today and according to my husband, it was returned because we didn't put N/A somewhere in the form. No mention of it not being notarized, or only including one year's tax return. (We used the old form.) Sucks for us, but maybe it's good news for someone else. ;)

I'd wait to get the instructions, then follow them. We got the same advice and therefore didn't get the I-864 notarized, and only sent in this year's of tax return. Now we're waiting for an RFE... :hehe:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is gained by Emailing choice of agent to NVC?

If I understand this correctly:

The only advantage I see in emailing in the Choice of Agent (in lieu of form DS-3032), is that it save 1 or 2 mailings, but not anything on time.

Since the DS-3032 and the AOS Bill are generated at the same time from NVC, I figured that I would be mailing those back to NVC at the same time anyway.

Am I missing something, or does the emailing of choice of agent only save a small extra step (maybe a few bucks) for mailing the DS-3032 to the foreign spouse, and/or the foreign spouse mailing it back to the USC?

I don't see a time savings at all from the email method...?

There are two different "tracks" of the process through the NVC. One starts with the AOS bill, the other starts with the DS-3032. The AOS Bill gets sent to St. Louis, whereas the DS-3032 gets sent to New Hampshire, so you can't send them together. Also, there are fewer steps to the AOS Bill track, so it makes sense to get the DS-3032 info sent in ASAP. You can check recent timelines (look at some signatures of people who've been approved) to see how long it took from the time the NVC generated the DS-3032 until the beneficiary received it. It took about 3 weeks in my case, and I'm in Canada.

It's up to you. Good luck! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI need to find any Congressman from Florida who can help with a visas process!!!

I remember telling the woman in the congressman's office that K-1s in Vermont SC were being approved in a month, while K-1s in Texas were taking 6 months. Her response was "There are many people living in Texas. No one lives in Vermont. That is why they are approved faster."

An RFE was issued after a month!! That's strange! NVC usually issues RFE within the first 2 weeks! Atleast that's what i've seen in most of the cases.

Our RFE was issued after 3 weeks, but the case was approved soon after we sent the response.
