Middle East and North AfricaSpending the Night in Casa before Interview?
Hmmm... okay...
i remember having to check another time and i think there might be an Ibis around there somewhere.... they are usually inexpensive... (well, comparatively)

Middle East and North AfricaSpending the Night in Casa before Interview?
Salaam all,
Happy Thursday!
Just a quick question: For those of you who accompanied your habeebs to their interview in Casablanca, did any of you spend the night there before the interview? And if so, where did you stay? Was it reasonably close to the consulate?

We hope to spend the night there before our interview next month, inchallah, and even though i lived in Morocco, i've never actually spent the night in Casa. Any ideas?

Yeah... it's funny because this is the second person to bring up this possibility in 2 days. i was griping last night about the past year of immigration woes... (And we haven't even gotten to the SCARY part yet!! ) and a colleague of mine said, well, why doesn't he just come here and study...?

i have to agree with the others... unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. if you come on a student visa and then stay b/c you got married, they can suspect you of visa fraud... and that is a whole different can of stinky worms. it stinks the whole gambit mad.gif

Middle East and North AfricaK1 visa administrative process
i guess the thing that is most scary and producing the most anxiety for me as we approach our interview in Casablanca this month, is that there are no known variables. i read Tammy's post in another forum and she wrote: there is no reason why...

if beneficiaries are being targeted and put into AP for a specific reason, then it maybe it would be more tolerable.
like if he/she had a name hit... it wouldn't be fair, but at least it's something?
if he/she lived next door to a known terrorist... again, not fair, but okay...

i guess i don't even understand what security checks they are doing in the first place??
is it a Name Check? Finger print? Address?

and if it is a Name Check, didn't they already do that at NVC?

i'm sorry......
i guess i just don't understand.

my prayers go out for all of you! rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif

Middle East and North AfricaK1 visa administrative process
Can we talk about this some more?

I'm sorry... I know there was an article or thread in here somewhere about the name checks and exactly what they do...
It is about the "Condor" or something like that? Anyone else remember...?

It really scares me because when I look at people's time lines it seems that in 2005-2006, couples (in Morocco, at least) were interviewing and getting their visas within a month or so... (this i just a guesstimate based on what i've read, no scientific analysis though)... reading.gif

And now, i see couples waiting 6, 9, 12 months. And no rhyme or reason to it... girlwerewolf2xn.gif

How are you all surviving?

Yes, my understanding from what i've read is that you just ask the immigration officer, and you wait a bit, and they give it to you...

Is there anyone else who can attest to this?

the crazy thing is that i sent my sister that brief article about the FBI still having 29,800 pending name checks dating back to 2005...
she used to work for New York Justice Department, and she responded that 10 years ago, the NYPD alone, could process over 100,000 name checks in 1 year. that was 10 years ago.
it is just crazy.

QUOTE (Nutty @ Apr 3 2008, 08:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Everyone has to go through AP.

Administrative processing is security checking the fingerprints you gave and checking your name (that it does not match up with a criminal or terrorist name). And if you have technical profession, they check this also.

The Embassy sends back the fingerprints and your name to the Department of State (DOS) in USA. The DOS then sends your information to CIA and FBI and other departments. It is the waiting from these departments that takes so long.

When all the security checks are done, the case goes back to the Embassy. The Embassy calls you and then you get your visa.

Nutty, quick question:

Do they send all this stuff back and forth electronically or via snail mail? i was under the impression the fingerprints were electronic for some reason...?

Just wondering as i'm hoping for the best, preparing for the worst...

Thanks, rose.gif

Salaam Everybody,

Happy Saturday.
I am getting my stuff ready to take to Morocco next week inchallah.

Just to get some ideas:

How many e-mails did you guys include for your interview?

We didn't have too, too many for the preliminary petition because I had just arrived in the US when we decided to do the K1. (That was last June 07) ClockWatch2.gif .

Hey Everybody,
Thanks for your insight! i did read the CASABLANCA thread, but i should probably go back and read again. There are so many variables!

The only read flag i can think of is that i had a previous K1 submission a few years back for a different person, different country. In the end, we abandoned the petition before he even interviewed. i addressed it already in this K1 petition, and Habibi is prepared to answer any questions regarding it.

Sounds like it might be good to sign the release form now... maybe then, if there is a problem (God forbid!), they can act more quickly? All this is pretty nerve-wracking. blink.gif

Thanks for your help and well-wishes, rose.gif

Salaam all,
Happy Friday!

So our case has been forwarded to Casa, dancin5hr.gif and now we wait...

Having read all the posts regarding the Casa interviews and all the returned petitions, i think i remember that someone suggested contacting your Rep or Senator before the interview even takes place. Just to let them know who you are and your circumstance and that you may have to call on them if you need them.

Do you think i should contact my Senator beforehand, just to let them know what we're doing....? Or would they just not even make note of it, and tell me to contact them if/when (God forbid) there is a problem?

I'm in New Jersey, by the way... if that makes any difference.

Thanks for your help as always! rose.gif
