i know its hard now because u life is going to change but once he gets her it will be so exciting. everything will be new to him and ull want to do and show him everything just to see his reaction. kinda like those first steps, first everythings we experience with children. u should have seen how my husband was when i took him to his first amusment park....just like a child, he wanted to ride everything. there was his first experience at the bank...put my check in the tube and the teller on the other end gives me my money back without even leaving the car. there was the first time he ever pumped his own gas too...he just could not figure that out to save his live. things we take for granted was a big adjustment for him. oh just wait...the real fun begins when he gets here.

laughing.gif I have to laugh because mine still can't get over that! laughing.gif He wanted to video tape it to show people back home. He told his brother that people here in America don't want to get out of their cars for nothing! laughing.gif

Middle East and North AfricaMoroccan Wives and Fiancees and Ladies Please Help!
Hi Everyone,

sorry i am usually so quiet around here. i kind of lurk in the K1 Visa Forum, but every once in a while i check in with MENA.

today something terrible happened. today i'm at my wit's end. those of you engaged or married to Moroccan men, can you please tell me if it was difficult for your SO to get his passport from the Moroccan authorities?

my habibi and i have filed all of our papers, we're anxiously awaiting our NOA2, and in the meantime, my fiance is trying to get all his documents together. we knew the passport might take a while, but it's been 5 months! that's a lot of time, no? he knows someone who works in the mukata, (the passport section, i guess?), who is "helping him" and every time, he goes to ask about the passport, they give him a different answer. they've been telling him "come back next week," "come back tomorrow at 3," "come back next Thursday," and it's never ready. supposedly, he's been issued a receipt number, but how do we know if it is even valid?

have any of you experienced this? is it normal for a Moroccan citizen to have to wait 5 months for a passport?

please help. i just want to cry...

My husband never flew in his entire life before he came through JFK to Los Angeles and he had no problems changing terminals and all that. Its really not that big of a deal! smile.gif Personally I'd fly direct to Europe from LA next time then down to Morocco instead of stopping in NYC. But its not because JFK is a bad airport, but because Royal Air Maroc sucks! smile.gif But if lived in NYC I would take RAM anyway because of the direct flight convenience! But this post is about Egypt anyway so who cares! lol

Oh no! Does RAM suck? i'm leaving for Maghreb next month, inchallah... and it is my first time with Royal Air Maroc.

But i'm so psyched though, because it will be my first time flying to Morocco direct... instead of making 1, 2, 3 stops along the way. Wooo-hoo!

Thanks WOM

The interview has been postponed to next Saturday or the following Tuesday because my husband could not find anyone who could translate his documents in Oran until yesterday and he picked them up today. We now have to wait to be rescheduled because if he would have had them ready Saturday, he would have gone today and then interviewed tomorrow. Now I am shooting for Tuesday as an interview date but it could be Saturday. I will not know until tomorrow

Oooo... sorry to hear that Wahrania...

i'm from New York originally and i'm used to just saying what i need to say whenever i need to say it without regard to where i am or who's around.

that happened once in Rabat. Habibi and i were trying to get some papers done in order to get married and of course it was difficult because of the bureacracy and misinformation. we got in a big fight over nothing and i was arguing with him in the street! Poor Habibi...

i'm trying to tone it down. i'm trying so hard to be good.

Luckily, we usually find a way to laugh it off. He says i am a hot pepper.

i can live with being a hot pepper, i guess. heart.gif

OK, spent the last two hours writing and editing a letter regarding my personal issues with the visa process as well as general issues with the visa process. Now, since it is almost midnight, I will sleep on it before I decide to mail them.

But here are my suggestions.
1. Require family visas to be issued within 180 days of the interview unless solid evidence of terrorist or criminal activity. (need i say why)
2. Revise the petition validity from four months to one year to prevent the embassy from having to request an extension every four months. (this is time they could spend working on our cases instead of requesting extensions).
3. Require family based visas be given priority at every stage of the process. (Right now students and temporary workers are expedited through the security checks while family visas sit and wait)
4. Require that once a clearance is completed that it remain valid for six months. (no more well he was cleared yesterday but today he is not, or no more well clearance X expired while we were waiting for clearance Z so now we must repeat X and now Y has expired).

Any suggestions as to whom to mail them? Other than the DOS and Homeland security. oh and the subcommittee on immigration?

Looks good to me. I would suggest sending it as an editorial to the NY Times or another newspaper.

Wow! This looks great Belinda...
And i really like the idea of sending it to a newspaper. Check out how to submit an Op-Ed on the nytimes website.
