BTW, I did call DOS and the rep said he was in A/P. She asked what was marked on the paper given to her and I told her and she said that is basically A/P.

Thanks!

Okay, so AP... not the most favorite response, but it's not a denial, so thank goodness.
Hopefully it will go quickly! Inchallah...

i'm just so sorry he had to have a mean CO to make the experience that much more stressful...

Yes she gave him a white paper with several options on it, marked was review of further evidence. Do you think it means he will have another interview. Maybe this time they will ask when is the last time I ate at McDonald's. O wait that was today, lol I was very bad and had those French fries not too good with my issue of swelling up these days but I had a craving for salty fries this whole day. unsure.gif

Hi Samira,

i'm really glad that you are acting quickly and calling DOS and getting your congresspeople involved. good.gif

i think if the paper was marked for review of further evidence, then that is what they are doing. it could be that they just shuffle through the papers, and go directly in AR... Hard to say if they will want another interview, but you are doing all the right things at the moment! rose.gif rose.gif

Darn... i'm so sorry, Samira... i was having such high hopes. It is nerve-wracking going through Casa!

But like Nagi said, it's not the end-end of the world news. If she kept the evidence, then that means they will review your case further. It's not a denial... Did she give him any kind of documents after he finished?

QUOTE (wahrania @ May 14 2008, 07:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
In Morocco, there is a list of names (mostly Arab, some Berber) that parents are legally allowed to name their children. In addition, parents pay an extra fee for giving their child certain “special” names like Adam. But how does that apply to Dutch Moroccans?

Well, as Bo18 reported awhile back, once a Moroccan always a Moroccan. In other words, while a Moroccan can gain dual citizenship with another country, he can never give up his Moroccan nationality. In addition, any child born to a Moroccan father in any country is officially Moroccan. If that child wants, at some point in the future, to go back to Morocco (even to visit), he or she must have a Morocco-approved name or will encounter problems upon entry.

Yes, this is true for Morocco... i don't know what the "problems" are... but i would imagine it would pertain to getting a Moroccan passport.

i did not know that "Adam" was a special name....? It is on the list...that much i know... blink.gif

Middle East and North AfricaHelp on preparing docs for Casa interview - CR/1
Salaam Kodi,
La bas?

We did a K1, so i can only speak from my situation and from what i've read. Casa seems to have their own procedures. For example, they sent my habib documents to fill out that had expired years ago. And i've read that in some cases, the petitioner or beneficiary has downloaded the newer documents online (the documents that the rest of the world is using), only to be sent home from Casa because they wanted the old version of the documents.

My advice is to just bring everything. Leave no stone unturned. If you hubbie has the I-864, bring it. But if Casa is asking for the I-134, then bring that, too. For us, we went to the interview with every possible document they could have asked for (expired versions and new versions), because unfortunately, you never know exactly what they want or what they are going to ask for...

Just bring it all...

Anyone else have similar experiences?

Good luck, Kodi!! rose.gif rose.gif

Wow... I didn't know it was like that in Algeria! blink.gif

Interesting question... If the shoe were on the other foot, and i was petitioning to live in US or Canada or Morocco (if it worked that way), i know be scared and lonely... i know i'd cry a lot... cuz i'm a wimp and cry a lot anyway.

but i'd do it in a second, without a glance backward. This whole process has been impossibly difficult, and sometimes i feel like i've made some sacrifices that others (family & friends) have passed judgment on... but i'm doing my best... and i think i would do it under any other circumstance... (of course i don't have any children, so i'm sure that would change things entirely.)

but for me, in my current situation....
plucking feathers, cutting up raw intestines, never sitting on a toilet ever again... i'd do it, if i had to... in a heartbeat. heart.gif

Sandrila -- whoa hold up -- you say you have been married over a year. But I'm looking at your profile and it says you are filing for a K-1.

You can't file for a fiance visa if you are already married. Is this a mistake ??????

If you DID file for a K-1, AND you are already married, this could definitely be the problem -- and it could be a MAJOR one.

Oh no, Sandrila, i'm sorry to hear that your case has taken this turn. it is not fair.
i've been trying to respond to your posts all weekend, but my computer kept kicking me off...

Yes, could you please verify if you filed for a K1 or K3? And could you please tell a little more about what happened at the consulate? Are they sending your case back to USCIS?

Thanks and hope you are hanging in there! rose.gif rose.gif

Good question... was wondering the same thing?
Couldn't she just marry and stay in Morocco for a year and then re-file directly with the consulate?

Any insight?

The government of Morocco does not recognize "dual nationality". When the father is a citizen of Morocco, children automatically acquire Moroccan citizenship at birth, regardless of the country of birth, and must enter the country on Moroccan passports.

But you are right, it seems to focus mostly on children...
Although, "the government of Morocco does not recognize 'dual nationality'" seems strongly worded.

Probably worth it to call the Consulate General in New York just to be certain...

QUOTE (sarahaziz @ May 19 2008, 06:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I don't think it's appropriate to talk about Bush like that. Anyone who has said something to mock bush, do you think you could've done things better? Your father would've been a better president? or could you have made all people in your country and all the world agree with you and your actions? He's still a person in my eyes who had the best interest for USA. There's alot of unknown factors that play into that type of job he holds. Too many brainwashing, pleading, difference of opinions, threats. I'm just disgusted with people of this country who don't respect who's in charge. Everything is mocked instead of taking a part in the country and doing their part. That's why society is what it is today. 1 Person a human being can't make things better for any of us other human beings- that's in God's hand.

You are right on some levels, and you are much more compassionate than me.

Could i have done things better?
No... but i'm not the president of the US. but do i think there are others out there that could be doing a better job than GW...? yes, absolutely.
Just because someone is in a position of authority does not guarantee that he/she will not abuse that privilege and use it for his/her own agenda. We see this all over the world.

And remember, when Bush won the 2000 election... many of us, backed with strong suggestive evidence, felt that the vote was corrupted.

One of the great things about America, is that we do have the ability and right to question authority and laws that we feel are unjust. Alhamdulilah.

Middle East and North Africai Think We've Talked About This Before
Hi All,

i know we've talked about this a million times before, but i'm just not getting anywhere...

i want to by my "fiance's" plane ticket, and i really, really want to buy just a one-way, but i am getting mixed messages from everywhere:

1) DOS says a 1-way is fine.
2) the first time i called RAM in New York, the woman said a 1-way is fine.
3) 2nd time, RAM in New York, said to call the Moroccan Consulate in New York (as if they ever answer the phone there!)
4) called NVC, they said they didn't know.
5) called RAM in Casa, and they said i must buy a round-trip ticket.
6) Habibi has been to two different travel agents in Rabat and they say he must buy a round-trip.

Has anyone had these troubles? How did you fly on a K1 visa, RAM direct from Casa to JFK? Can i really just buy him a one-way?

i'm sorry, i'm just flustered over here... wacko.gif my biggest fear is that he will get to Casa, with all his stuff, and they will not let him on the plane because they are uninformed about K1 visas?

oh, by the way, a round-trip Casa to NY these days is costing $1500! crying.gif i just want this visa nightmare to end.....

Thanks for your help,
