Middle East and North AfricaUpated of 14th embassy date!
What?? !!
So they rescheduled the interview again?

Did he actually go to the embassy or did they call him to inform him of the change in plans?

i'm so sorry, Tammy... You are a very strong person, and i am amazed and humbled by your perseverance and calm. Good luck and many prayers to you. Please keep us informed.

Isn't there anything to be done on this end (that you haven't already done) to expedite this?

Wish there was a way to get EADs expedited.

It's really too bad they no longer issue the interim EAD's. They used to allow you to make an infopass 90 days after the NOA1 to get your EAD until the real one was approved. It enabled almost no gap in work authorization as long as you married and sent of your petition immediately after entry.

Yeah, it is a bummer when you are trying to do all the right things, but some policies change, and then you have to bear the brunt of it. As much as i am frustrated with USCIS and they make me want to scream, i bet they are underfunded and understaffed, and that's why things happen the way they do.

sigh........

Middle East and North AfricaDefining haram?
See, i think, it was the use of the word haram that i took such offense to, when having the heated discussion about music. (The discussion, remembering from my first post, that prompted this whole online discussion.) Makruh is one thing, i don't have an argument there... but Haram, quite another...

Yes, the Sunnah Companion texts are important in following the path; however, as we all know there are hundreds of hadiths out there, and not all are reliable. It is also frustrating when having a discussion with someone and they state something as fact and then can't remember the hadith they pulled it from. (i'm not saying that's happening here... just stating a general peeve of my own... and i am NO authority on Islam, that is for sure.)

Sometimes i wonder if i am too liberal in my interpretation of everything..... unsure.gif

Middle East and North AfricaDefining haram?
Interesting... but here is where i'm puzzled.
Eating swine= haram
Drinking alcohol= haram
Zina= haram

Does listening to music fall into the same "Haram" categories as those above? And is it specifically mentioned in the Qu'ran as such?

and p.s.
And everybody knows that clapping leads to all sorts of bad things! biggrin.gif

Asalaam ou 3alekum everybody,

Hope this post finds you well...
i'm posing this question to those of you who know the Qu'ran and Islam way better than myself.

is listening to music haram? have you ever heard this before?

i got in a heck of a dispute about it last night, which of course lead to poring over the Qu'ran. i could find nothing about it in my English translation. And the person i was arguing with couldn't back it up with text either ... other than a vague reference in a hadith.

so, any insight on this?

i understand if listening to music makes you forget your prayers, or if it makes you do sexy things...
but haram?

please advise....

Salaam 3alekum Everybody!

Thank you so much for your prayers and wishes. Thank you so much for your happy thoughts and all the good advice along the way. rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif

We finished our interview, Alhamdulilah. Sorry it took me a few days to report back...
i think we did as well as we could have!

Hayati went to the Consulate with a stiff upper lip and his arms full of evidence. Thankfully, alhamdulilah, he spoke with a very nice blonde woman. She was friendly and smiled a lot, but she would not speak Arabic with him. He asked her twice, but she just kept asking him questions in English. My hubbie knows English, but very, very basic. But by some miracle, he understood everything she said, and she understood his replies.

She asked him:
My name
My address
How, where, and when he met me
If I'd ever been married before

He showed her our photo album and she looked at all the pictures.

Then he showed her my passport, and told her i was waiting nearby. She had him come out and get me immediately!! So i went in with him, blink.gif and she asked me just one question. She wanted to know if we were already married because last year we tried to get married and i had to go to the consulate for some documents (that is another long story), but in the end, we never legally married in Morocco.

She said she did not doubt our relationship. She said they still had some administrative processing to do... and it should take a week or two. Then she took Hayati's passport, which i feel is a good sign. rose.gif She said they'd call him in a week or two and that she didn't "anticipate any problems" inchallah.

Soo....
i don't know. What do you guys think?
i feel like we did our best and that it went as well as possible. Alhamdulilah.

Any thoughts?
Okay, hope you all our well, and i'll check back in when i can.

Thanks again for listening and being here,
hz

I dont know your case or details but i wouldnt hurry this decision, sometimes there are things that can be done to change the outcome of a first denial

Oh, KimberlyAnne, i'm so sorry to hear this news! rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif But i am inspired by your strength and matter-of-factness, and of course, knowledge is power... at least you KNOW something now, and you can make decisions based on this...

i do, however, agree with the rest of the bunch. Are you sure you just want to up and move to Morocco? You can still overturn this decision, especially if it is just the case of a misplaced waiver.

Also, i do believe, (please someone correct me if i'm wrong), that if you are denied, you need to address the denial in some written form before you let the K-1 petition expire? i believe you need to address the denial, so if, some day in the furture, you decide to re-petition with a K3 or CR visa, you will not be denied again. Has anyone else heard of this, and if so, can you help elaborate because i'm not explaining right? wacko.gif

Whatever you decide, i wish you the best of luck. Stay strong. Inchallah, everything will work out for you and your habeeb.
