Hi Guys,
I have a question. I came to the US last year on CR-1 visa and received my 2 year conditional green card after a couple of months. I'm leaving for Pakistan on Thursday for a week. Is there anything else I have to show at the airport to reenter United States or just my Green Card?

I contacted The Islamabad Embassy and they said they have a little different process then other embassys, what they do is they send out the packet with forms like DS-230, ds156, DS156k and a checklist which does require a police certificate (Or As our police calls it Chaal Challan certificate) and medical as well,
Islamabad Embasy said in their own words, "On April 10, 2007, electronic data on this case was transferred to this office. We will now have to wait for the National Visa Center to send us the physical file/petition also. As soon as it is received, we will have a packet of information send out to the applicant in this case.Do not prepare anything in advance. Once her file is with us, we will send her an interview letter immediately. She will have around five weeks to prepare.
Before this office gets to hear about this case file, the petition will receive a letter from the National Visa Center."

I suggest looking at the I-134 (affidavit of support) as you will need to send it to her, plus start practicing filling out forms which she will receive in the packet sent my the embassy: 2 copies of DS156, 1 copy of DS157 and 1 copy of DS230 Part 1. (http://www.visajourn...om&page=k3forms)
Make sure she is agathering all the documents needed like:
evidence of our relationship: cards, letters, photos.
certified copy of our marriage certificate as well as financial documents showing you have assets in common, another proof of relationship.

hey Shon! Where Da Visa At?

Any luck? Last u said they were mailing it to you?! You know what is going on??

They cancelled the cr1 from under our nose.. we are now waiting for the IR1. they put us back on
Fking Ap/AR. we lost all our hopes on this dayum visa. I am considering going out to sea for a few months. I gotta get on with my life. :(

I-134:
You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. (Note: Signing Form I-135 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law). For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarize after you sign it.
Where you submit the form depends on whether the alien you are sponsoring is in or outside the United States and what type of application is being submitted. See the instructions provided with the corresponding application for detailed information on where to submit this affidavit of support.

I-864A( the one you should be filing for joint sponsorship):
Should be filed with Form I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act.
The signatures on the I-864A must be notarized by a notary public or signed before an immigration or consular office

The immigration offiicer might overlook the notary public stamp but it all depends on the officer as it is a requirement

Copies of 2007 should work fine as it did in my case 11 days ago.
Immigration Visas are printed in Islamabad and thus will be given to you either the same day or next day if everything else is OK

if u travel back to egypt with an american passport u will probably have to pay for a visa. if u travel with ur egyptian one...well no visa. that would be a benifit of keeping ur egyptian citizenship.

the only benefit is when traveling to Egypt

It also depends on when you have your ceremony. I believe here in Denver they have 2 ceremonies per year, so if you missed the first one and you already interviewed and passed, you have to wait for the second one, which is what happened to me. I had to wait from July till October for my ceremony to be held and have the certificate in my hand.



I applied for my Citizenship on October 15 2005 and was sworn in on December 2006 in Syracuse, NY

Hi,

I have two N-445 invitations to the same oath ceremony (one I got handed at the interview and another one I recieved by mail). The second one is asking me to bring, among other things, "Reentry Permit or Refugee Travel Document". I have no such documents. I have never filed for advance parole and never been a refugee.

I am pretty sure that they just check everything (except "other") as standard procedure, and that it just means to bring it in case you have it, but would like some reassurance. Has anyone received the same form with that checked?

Also, is it okay to wear nice jeans and a white shirt with a tie, or would I be woefully underdressed?

I received the same forms when I had my oath and as long as you don't have a re-entry permit you are fine. I wore a suit to my oath but saw many people with jeans as well as Tshirts. I say since it's probably gonna be the most important day of your life might as well dress up for it.

How long after a case has left NVC for Montreal are we supposed to receive Packet 3 from Montreal? And how much longer until I should bother asking them if they sent me Packet 3 yet? :S I know it's only been 2 weeks for me but is that typical?

it's been a very long few years, and it finally happened.

thank you to everyone who has listened to be b*tch and helped us along the way :)

my husband is leaving work in a few to go over-night my passport :) they even said they'll send it back the next day. but it's a long weekend. but i don't care, lol. it's finally happened :blush:

we're still keeping our camping trip this weekend since they're closed (and i've been packed since our interview 6 weeks ago really, lol) , but we're celebrating instead of getting away from it all :dance:

time to start sending my portfolio again to jobs :whistle:

VJ Friends!

I got the wonderful email today saying my I-864 was approved and card production ordered! For those of you who missed my previous posts, our application got held up after the interview because hubby wasn't accepted at a sponsor and we had to go on the co-sponsor hunt. It took the Spokane district office about a week from receiving our co-sponsor's I-864 to approving it. I have to say my big, BIG THANKS to everyone on VJ - I was so heartbroken after the interview because we were stuck for who to ask to co-sponsor. You guys all have great advice and are so sweet :) I wish all of life was like VJ - a community of people who can help each other with their experience - you guys all rock for taking the time to contribute. :thumbs:
