Yea but she doesn't care at all. It's not the first time she's said something to completely offend me.

She's just a very self centered woman. At my wedding she decided to start trying to get some free counseling out of my mother (who she just met) and decided to go and tell my mother her life story for a good 45 minutes. I mean it was MY wedding and she's deciding to stop my mother who was there for me, to talk about her life with her husband - who she constantly complains about but there's a time, a place, and people you choose to do that around. My mother asked me the next day if she was 'touched'

I talked to my mom on the phone about the dog thing yesterday and she just said: "Look who it's coming from..." she had a point.

Speaking of dogs and family events....

So yesterday we went to my in-laws to have dinner for my husbands grandfathers birthday. We had left our dog there while we went to Rochester so she was there from Friday night until yesterday when we went over to pick her up and have dinner. We get there and I am very happy to see her, and I pick her up and his grandmother, who never seems to think before she speaks says: "She doesn't want to see you, she wants Mike!" then she says: "That's Michaels baby" (PS: Mike is my husband).

I know it doesn't seem like a huge deal, but I just found it extremely rude. Especially since OUR dog means the world to me and I got her before I met my husband. I got her because her owner, my friend, died of cancer, so she is very special to me.

Every time we're there though, she says something like that about our dog not being mine. It's just this sort of elitist attitude that I don't get at all. Why say anything at all?

Hmmm.... odd. Yeah, glad I never opened them up but I just found it really odd. Messages from friends in other languages. I guess I'd sort of hoped/ thought FB was safer than that...

I haven't got any messages like that yet, but someone on my face book posted something about it. I guess ppl where getting messages for something or another making it look like she was in need of help money wise or something, or maybe it was made to look like she was freaking out on ppl swearing and all kinds of stuff. I can't remember there is so many going around its hard to keep track. Tell your friends to not open any files similar and change their passwords if anything looks like its being sent by them. I can't remember any other recommendation that was mentioned.

I guess some of those can be pretty serious at getting your info.

My vent? Facebook seems to be sending me some VERY strange messages in Polish! From some of the people on my friends' list. I'll email them back and ask if they're sending me messages in a slavic language and they're all perplexed. I don't actually open the emails, i just see the opener line and it's in a slavic looking language. Weird and odd. So freaking odd. Anyone else get that?

Seriously Nev? that just sounds like b.s. to me. You owe this woman nothing and yeah, like you said, she didn't give a clear pathway to just letting out with it. One word of advice? never assume anyone you work with is your true friend. It can happen and I do have a few friends, real friends, that I have worked with but few and far between. Those two things don't often mix.

Chin up, sweetie -- you didn't do anything wrong at all. The position was given to you because you were the best person for the job. Maybe go for coffee with this girl and have out, you know? LIke take a moment to lay down the framework and let her vent and see what can come of it?

Well, I have to say, i am reassured that I'm not the only one who failed the first time -- maybe I'll get a guy next time? well, i'm taking the test again at the same MVA and you know what I'm gonna do? I'm going to go and practice driving all around the area just so I know it like the back of my hand -- see if they can trip me up then!!!!

And Ashen, that's a BAD kitteh! very cute but very bad! My cat is way too fat, old and lazy for that kind of shenanigans My husband's cat would but she gets to go outside to rid her of her lunacy!

Pffft! I just turned 40!!! And this is was my VERY first driving test and yes, I plan on going back ASAP to get it done -- I'll be the wiser next time, that's for sure -- I am a big baby when it comes to humiliation. i have another date scheduled but I'm going to try and find one that's sooner so I can just get this thing done. it's so awful, it's not like I didn't know what I was doing, it just didn't seem to make sense. Like I said, I'll be wary next time.

Thanks for the encouragement -- I'll just keep on plugging away. Good thing my husband was playing his patience cards today.

Well, I'm here to vent. I took my very first road test this morning and failed it. Yep. I've been driving my car around for the past two months and I was feeling super confident and secure. I can parallel park, reverse back in and everything. Even my husband who is NOT an easy sell and a very harsh critic commended me on who good my driving is -- how safe he feels driving with me.

So today, take the test, do the field course no problem, park, reverse, 3 point turn, all good. We get out onto the highway and the trainer tells me to prepare to take a right hand turn. I see a right hand turn about 50feet or less from us but I'm not in the right lane and we get a red light, cars are stopped. So I assume she can't have meant that turn, must be the one past the lights. Um, no. It was that one. So, because we deviated off the course, it was an automatic disqualification, we had to pull into a parking lot so she could drive me back to the MVA.

Sucked so hard. What a crappy morning.

My vent is kind of an odd one. I've been in the US now for about 3 months and change... it's going well and I find myself progressing at a nice solid, albeit slow, pace. Everything's great with my husband and family but, my vent is this... since I've lived here, or even before, I have found that I have 'lost' my two best friends. Neither one has said, 'this is a result of your leaving..." but it feels as such. One I lost before I actually moved -- she refused to give me an wriggle room to deal with the fear, anxiety and sheer work that had to be put into this venture. Her theory is/was 'you're getting what you want, you have no right to be stressed or freaking out and I don't have time to deal with you..." Don't get me wrong, I was mostly fine and really, did nothing that I would be ashamed of to her. I basically just needed some room to not give her the undivided attention to her woes that I'd had for so long with no complaint. I dealt with her for the 10 solid years after her dad died and she took to verbal abuse and drinking. I never once told her that I didn't have time to deal with her . I needed her to give me a bit of a boost during my time of stress. Her theory was, I don't want to talk to you about immigration and such as you're leaving me.

The second friendship has always been flakey, flakey person but loved her with all my heart. She wanted me to take a trip to NYC with her into the first month I moved here. I was NOT ready. I didn't have money coming in yet and I just got here -- I needed time to feel my way around and settle. This was not good enough as her theory was, you have your husband, you don't need to worry about money. Uh, no, I do as no one has ever taken care of me and no one will -- that's my job and I need to figure out how to do that here now.

So, now that I'm here and I'm driving and have a car and am actually feeling like I'm settled, I'm missing my two best friends to share this with and am sad that for some reason I just wasn't given the time or space to settle into this new life. I don't care what anyone says, despite the love and happiness of being with yoru partner, this is NOT the easiest thing to do.

Has anyone else had to deal with this? IT's kind of heartbreaking. I think about it a lot especially since now I'm moving forward and stuff and feel like I can take a trip to see people now, that I want to and that I'm ready to. I have good friends still and have made a couple of awesome new ones but it's just really weird that this move has caused me to lose the ones that I thought were going to be there for the long haul.

Thanks for letting me vent. It's my only real issue these days and I wanted to get it out there to people I know understand. People who have not done this sort of thing do NOT.

So last month while we were moving our state tax refund cheque was misplaced.. probably thrown away accidentally... I don't know. I told my husband to call them, it would take a bit but they could cancel the one they sent and send us a new one. He said: "No, you can't do that" I said: "Yea we can... we just have to call" and he said "No it doesn't work like that" So instead of arguing I just let it go. Well I guess my husband talked to his father about it this weekend and then asks me this morning: "Can you call the state and get a new cheque?"

I suggested we do this last month. Oh yea I forgot, I don't know what I'm talking about and his dad does right? I am sure he didn't argue with his dad about this... he listened and took it as fact.

Sometimes I think there's no point in even talking... from now on I'll just say: "Go ask your daddy"

If I may suggest? Set up your EI account online, if you haven't, and just keep track of the dates cards are due and such. If I haven't received mine by the date I'm supposed to send them in, I call. If by a day or two before we're to be paid, I call and they process them over the phone. For some reason, I find them a little bit lax on sending me the new batch of cards that I need for the next period. I have discovered that just because they didn't send you a card doesn't mean you have to wait.

Yup, we're all set! lol. My vent? The EI ppl didn't send me my report card. I called to get their fax # to send my EAD and let them know I didn't get my report card and they still didn't send them. Or rather, they didnt reissue them as the first ones were apparently sent back. Which is odd cuz I've gotten all the others. Due to this there is now a failure to reply on my account and I have to send them all the info I can to plead with them to open up and backdate my payments. GRRRRR!

Well, guess we'll see what the cards hold for us -- I just think it'd be super cool. I have never wanted them until now and I never felt emotionally, financially or ready in any way, shape or form. It's sort of not fair that we have a limited time offer on the whole deal... some of us take longer getting around to things than others...

Doesn't matter when your egg comes out, as long as there is sperm there...just saying. Don't limit yourself to sex during ovulation, what fun would that be?

Heeheehee. Seriously, I am a little freaked by it. My Mom has been telling me since I was in my late 20's to basically not have kids (wasn't married any longer, then age added to that and the increased risks...) but I figure hey, it really isn't uncommon anymore. I am in decent shape, obviously my body was ready to be pregnant, and this is way easier than I ever thought it would be (getting pregnant, and the only pregnancy symptom I've really had lately is the sore breasts). No morning sickness yay!

And I'm hoping by the time I have this baby I will be in Texas permanently. I can only hope.

You just gave me hope! I'm 39 and would like to get pregnant so, hearing someone my age taking the plunge too makes me a little excited. It's a little hard though when we're apart from our spouses.

I always felt that even if the timing was 'right' I'd get so nervous and excited about everything that I popped my egg out early!

Heeheehee. I thought it might take some time, too (I am 40, he is 44). Second ovulation - BAM. I took a test when I was 1 week late. The line went dark blue as soon as I laid the stick horizontal. There was no doubt whatsoever, not like the first time. I went in to hubby and said "We must be having a litter!" Funny. He wasn't so amused by that.

Just to verify, I just need to send them a copy of the front of my card, and a copy of my marriage certificate (to show name change, since EI is in my maiden name)... correct? I've already sent them everything else, like the I-94 and visa and what not.

Sure. I think I asked to be added a couple of pages back. I130 was approved December something-or-other 2008; sent everything off to the NVC in April; got an RFE (forgot the photos - DOH! and they didn't like our marriage certificate); sent that stuff off in May; Case done at NVC June 4th. Now waiting, endlessly, for the interview.
