IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Question...
now that the ball is rolling...
let's say we get our interview date, we BOTH have to be at the interview in montreal, right? I was confused about this as someone
had said that only the intending beneficiary is to be there -- that made no sense otherwise how will they know I'm right when I tell them
what kind of underwear he wears?

Any links about the process would be appreciated, just so I can prepare.
But I assume we both have to be there.

Thanks a lot...

So they got our I-130 and i'd thought we were to be processed in Vermont but it says the below... does this mean anything?
Oh and not that it's in this center, we're now waiting for it to be approved right? I put the case number they gave me into their system inorder to keep track of this process.
It says that California takes 6 months to process our I-130, is that about right?

i am VERY happy to at least be in the system right now.

Good luck to everyone.

In the section for the General information for CR-1 stuff, there's no mention of this particular form -- I searched online and it's something about choice of address and agent.
So, if we don't have an 'agent' we appoint ourselves, i imagine.

So... do we send this for in as well? If so, when -- along with which package of information.

And also What is the IV payment? For the life of me, I cannot find what that means.

Thanks guys... just trying to prep myself for all the other stuff ahead.

Yes... I know that. I've been tracking my case since we got it -- I mean that when I try to get onto the status checking portion of the USCIS site I get a page load error:

The connection to egov.uscis.gov was interrupted while the page was loading.

My internet connection is fine, I have no other issues ; i can even get on the USCIS site just not the status checking portion. It's not whether or not I have entered a number correctly -- we're in the system and have an ID and a password, it's a technical, site related issue -- wondering if it's indigenous to my computer or a full on website down sort of thing....

USCIS track was working a bit ago, I checked my case there.
Your entering the receipt number off the receipt, right?, and not the back of your check you wrote to USCIS. Cause if your using number on back of the check, add 1 digit to the last: Example 2 will become 3

I find it a little odd that they require such ardent proof of an ongoing relationship when they make it so hard to travel to see out spouses?
I can understand why, I suppose but why would be all go through such a crazy, long expensive process just to muck it all up?

If we can supply evidence of ties of return to our home counties, it would be nice to have that suffice.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's the Point???
Seriously... I haven't heard of very many people who've had touches or got their approvals via the website updates for through email.

What a huge drag....

You'd think they'd take advantage of that as most of us here are just looking for the confirmation that our files are being worked on or looked at -- I know I'd relax 75% if I got a touch and
was able to think, "cool, they're looking at our stuff, it's moving along..." now I just feel like it fell behind the radiator or someone used it to wipe their butt or something...

Wouldn't they want to make their lives easier over there? By not having to field a billion phone calls from people who are just checking in? Send an email... it IS that easy.

Don't be sorry TNgirl... I'm happy that people get to be with their families! I can't call, I'm the beneficiary and Mr. LGG is not a huge fan of doing that -- I can't blame him but i have more patience.
We called once and they basically told us to not bug them until 6 months has passed sort of thing.
See? I could call once a week or until I got someone who gave me a valid answer... Mr. LGG... not his cup of tea.
So, if there's a way to call from Canada, I'd do it but I can't set up a whole Skype thing at work because well, that would NOT go over well.

But congratulations TN, this wasn't meant as a poor me... I'm a control freak and I like to know what's going on with my life but the USCIS will not let me.

Hey all!!! I am visiting my husband right now, it's great. And going through customs was a breeze but I had all
My ties to Canada letters too. I told the truth and they didn't seem to care too much. Just an FYI.

Anyway we called USCIS and it was fine and the was polite but basically just told us what we already knew.
He also explained procedure to me as well. But, here's my question, I read that a member here called The Kims had
A way to reach a second tier officer -- someone with info pertaining to specific cases not just general info.

So, anyone know this tip? If member The Kims is reading this, PM me. Thanks.

Another odd thing for you all ? I am the beneficiary and I told the agent that but
He let me carry on with the enquiry?? Odd? I have no idea.

Anyway, your help is appreciated as always. Best to all

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWe are all wondering, I'm sure...
So, I'm an avid reader of this forum both to inform myself of procedure and to educate myself as to how other people's like-cases are being processed and I'm wondering, as we all are... .

can we just assume that our files are being worked on? Once we have our NOA1, should be just sit back and think it will be what it'll be? I see so many of us, and us here at VJ are only about 5% of the total case load, really, wondering, pondering, fretting and such. Some people's cases take 3 months, some take a year so, how do we all work with the notion that we just have to sit back and wait and allow our files to be dealt with as they're meant to be?

I read cases of people getting RFEs and such and who believe that if they hadn't called, they would have not been sent their hard copy -- I read about people who've been approved but yet the case status (online) hasn't budged an inch? Should we call? They don't want us to. I've even heard about people who've been outright lied to by the USCIS regarding their file...

I'm just curious here as when I'm not working and such, it's what I do. I would love to call but I am the beneficiary and thus, can't. I won't bother my husband with calling as he's got it right -- it'll be what it'll be, calling doesn't help. He's calmer than I am, and that's a good thing.

So, if it doesn't help, why are we given the option? Why do they have the online case updating system? I'm just curious -- it's all a mystery to me.

To be frank? I'm okay with the waiting as I've have done so for a while now -- but the not knowing anything is what really puts a bee in my bonnet.

Anyway... just vocalizing -- hope everyone's coping well...

My friend and I are taking her car, loading it up with still MORE of my ####### and whatnot and donating it to the Goodwill. I think after this load of like 2 boxes, the oldest Macintosh computer known to mankind, some bike tires and old keyboards and such, I will be officially junk free.

I only have the stuff that I actually am using. Fry pans, dishes, toaster and coffee maker and stuff.

Hey misty...
One of my fave things to do with tilapia, is to take a piece of tin foil, put some fresh or frozen veg on it, with some butter, salt and pepper and maybe lemon or pesto sauce and then lay the tilapia
on top, a little more of the sauces and then bake it in the oven for like 20 minutes or so. Fast, easy and super yummy, healthy meal.
:D

I thawed some tilapia that I'm trying to figure out what to do with tonight. Time to google some good recipes. I think I'll try the quinoa again (last night I experimented with a recipe I found online and almost traumatized myself...won't be using that recipe again,) maybe a spinach or arugula salad on the side.
