Well lust is impossible when I'm 500 miles away from the object of my desire!!!!!

I figure I'll just slip into Sloth and gluttony and if a cardinal sin was apathy, I'll go there too just to dabble.

So here you go Wyatt:

Lol Oh it's all good. Yeah I remember the day that my wife said she got the visa in the mail, it was 12:15 in the afternoon. Upon finishing my work day I drove right over there to pick her up and I had her home with me forever on my birthday by 12:30AM, was a very cool memory smile.gif

My wife's denial was based on her family's asylum claim in the States that started way back in 1991. Long story short the case was eventually denied and her family either had to return to the craphole that WAS Yugoslavia (Serbia specifically) back then or try to go somewhere else. Luckily Canada recognized the horrible state of that country and she was able to move there and we started the process of bringing her back a few years later.

Just imagine how cool it will be if you find out right around Christmas time that your interview is scheduled smile.gif It's weird how it sometimes happens like that but we actually found out about her interview right around a holiday so maybe some people at Montreal do it that way on purpose Lol.

Well my wife's case was extremely weird and unique so I wouldn't put too much into how long ours took, but we were outside of the posted timeframe by about 2 months when we finally got the interview, then we had to wait for the stupid Consul to actually look at the docs that we had with us when she denied us, so it took a while.

I know so well that helpless feeling you're talking about. My wife and I actually started to review other countries and their immigration processes as it was really beginning to look like it wasn't going to happen for us here.

I'm very glad you two will be seeing each other for a few weeks soon, that will most definitely help with the waiting. I can't remember a worse feeling than coming back from Montreal after they denied us but thinking back being outside the timeframe and not knowing what to do was just as bad. I wish you guys nothing but the best!

You are my inspiration for may as well enjoy the stuff that's coming up rather than crying myself into blindness.

I mean, in reality? We bought the xmas ticket already, the work days are booked off for both us. Almost 2 weeks of hanging out and having fun. It'll be good. I have a whole pile of xmas parties and events coming up, I have craploads of work to do and friends to be with. So... may as well just have fun. I get worried though that they're only going to schedule 1 a month for the next while but okay so that means I have 5 more months to wait. ***

Ah bowflex...
I really feel like our hands are so tied here. I was talking to my friend Malr... and well, I guess the BEST thing we can do is have him come up here, as he is this Thursday, and then I'll go down there for almost two weeks at Xmas and then hopefully, maybe they'll schedule a whole HUGE pile of us for January. I just feel at this point, I don't want to piss anyone off, I'm tired of writing letters to people who don't really give a sh!t, I just want Montreal to start scheduling.

May I ask though... how long, as in months, did you end up waiting for your interview?

I guess so... my husband already got a hold of his congressman and filled out a release of information in order for the congressman to go and see what was happening. But the truth is... they can't really expedite any files so... I just wish Montreal would pick it up a bit -- I don't' care if they're getting their damn feelings hurt reading this. I realize that yes, some of them were working hard. We're all working hard. So we get to be held back because of a flaw in their managerial system??? How can that possibly be right?

But I look at my job, if we were falling behind on our publishing schedules (and we're two people down due to maternity leave and such) we would get our butts kicked. We HAVE to fulfill our timeline despite being short-staffed. If it means that I log off of VJ or come in early or work over lunch or stay late, then that is what I must do.

My boss makes sure that that happens. WE could never let a publishing mandate go unfulfilled for 3 or 4 or 5 months beyond 'processing' times.

Just saying.

Oh completely agree, I remember talking about this same stuff with my wife when we were out of the times. You should check and see if any state representative of his has anything to do with the immigration board. Luckily my senator (Senator Levin of MI) was the head of a board and they completely RODE Montreal and called and mailed them a bunch of stuff. Now granted it ended up annoying the Consul and she even stated to them, in other words of course, that the reason the review was taking longer was because she was getting annoyed. In the end I called Montreal every single day and had the Senator's office contact her a few times a week until it was finally remedied smile.gif

They have no real reason to tell us the truth. Why would he/they care? I think it's like most government organizations, just say what you feel needs to be said to get people off your back for the moment but offer no real solution or viable options or anything like that. I never, not for one moment, took that to be the gospel truth. They don't owe us anything at all. they'll make us wait for as long as they can so that they can get done what needs to be done. We are the final result for that fix... or rather, our getting interviews will be the final result of what they need to fix. WHo knows how long it'll take them to fix it.

Like are we really stuck here living in limbo-land for many more months?

Well, I guess i'll make good on the xmas ticket we got and the time I booked off from work and go and have a xmas visit. But geez... it mostly sucks because we have NO recourse. Who'm I gonna write a letter to next, President Obama????

I just called. They're finished scheduling for the month of December.

See? I told you... my theory is right. They schedule between 1 and 4 CR1s at the very end of the month, then lie to us, tell us to call back the second week of the next month and when we call back then... they're done.

So, I has a curious for you all... I have been reading the other forums (bad girl, I know) and have noticed that a crapload of other consulates, like Manila and India and stuff scheduled two boatloads of CR1s yesterday... .

So... what do you all think? Will Canada follow suit or no?

I also have to be honest, at this point with all the plans we've made now, getting a December interview would be a bit of a hassle. So, I have my fingers crossed for January, really If December did come upon me, I'd deal with it but we bought a ticket already and have xmas plans.

Anyway, I'm not such a nihilist, really but god damn, get fvcking going already Montreal.

Like I said, if anything, I am agnostic about most things - I don't believe anything until I see it. I don't believe that they are scheduling any more CR interviews for December. They're done.
We can bet money on that or we can not. But I've seen them do this exact same thing for 3 months now. They scheduled 1 CR/IR for December for this site -- that's probably all they can handle.

BAH!

You have GOT to be optimistic! There's a LOT of reason for optimism, I assure you.

I will not stand here (okay, SIT here) and allow you to be apathetic or nihilistic. I know it has been tougher for you than for most, given the bad timing of your NVC case complete (which seems to have perfectly dovetailed with the staff shortage at the consulate), BUT you're past that now. So you can start to recharge that optimism I know is in your nature to feel. Wake up each morning with the thought of a cold winter night, curled up with your hubby on the couch.

Hell, *I* believe it's going to be true for you. So you can start believing it's true for yourself.

CanadaEvidence at the Interview
For our folder, I included tons of pics of us and us with his family and daughter. I included tons of plane stubs, cards he's given me, and a copy of a lawyers letter we had to get for him in order for us to marry. As an american, and divorced, we had to get permission from the province of Ontario. We had to prove that he was, indeed, divorced. That was a crapload of legwork and money so I thought it was good evidence for us.

I included tons of screen captures of my email box with his name, letters, cards... everything that I could find that would show that we have a real relationship. THere's quite a lot, actually.

hope this helps Ali... feel free to ask me anything if you need/would like to.
oh and yeah and as sapphire pointed out, probably all for nothing but I figured, I have this stuff, may as well bring it as you just never know...

Hey everyone!

So my interview is next Thursday and we are leaving for Vancouver Tuesday night. My fiance will be there with me at the interview. I'm wondering what kind of evidence I should bring as far as proof of our relationship goes ... suggestions, please? So far I have put together a few photos of us but I'm wondering if that will be enough. To me, it seems like it should be sufficient as he will also be there with me (and you can of course tell from our mannerisms etc that we are a couple and very much in love!) but I don't want to get denied or asked to provide further evidence for such a silly reason.

I would like to avoid printing out our e-mails/chat logs/phone call records from back in the day ... if anyone who had their interview with their fiance there could possibly tell me how it went, and what evidence they were asked to provide, that would be super appreciated! Thanks in advance everyone :)

well, I'll keep you all posted once I know how it all went down.
THanks so much...

We interviewed about 2 weeks before canadian_wife and we brought my husband's pay stubs (year to date) as well but they were given back to us in the interview room. They only kept his recent tax return (because we completed NVC in Feb (before taxes were due) and had the interview in May (after taxes were due.) I"m a bit fuzzy on the details now (you can read my interview review in my timeline :) ) but I recall them asking if he still worked at the same place. He said yes and they did not ask for any verification. (Good thing because we had none!)

If you can get the pay stubs I would bring them.

As far as the birth certificate goes I had two extra certified copies ( a bit overdone but oh well  ) and they did not ask to see anything. They just gave me back all of the originals I had sent in.

Sounds as though you are very organized; you will be fine!

Thanks so much... I would MUCH prefer to err on the side of caution -- we'll work something out whether he goes all the way into the lab to get them or has HR fax a letter -- but I would be mortified if they asked for something as simple as this and we couldn't produce and thusly, were held up...

Thanks SO much for your response.

Lgg, in all honesty we were asked for recent pay stubs. The interviewer said she wanted to make sure my husband still worked at the same place with the same income. But this certainly does not seem to be the norm, in fact at Montreal this seems to be rare and certainly not part of the requirement. I think you'll be Ok - is it possible to get a letter from HR, on company letter head, to show that he still works there at x salary? I highly doubt you'll need it but if it will set your mind at ease it might be worth it.

Good luck.
