CanadaGood luck to all the Canadians with interviews this week!
i am SO excited for you, my friend...
Yayayay!!! Isn't it funny how now it's only 5 days away!
:D

I'm still not nervous... I wonder why? I don't get nervous very often though, so maybe I won't! I always THINK I'm going to be nervous, and then in the nerve-inducing situation, I'm actually calm, cool, collected and confident. Let's hope the same thing happens on Friday morning!

I just sent Hotel Dauphin an email, asking whether or not I could extend my check-out time on Friday. I imagine I'm going to want a nap afterwards, since I'll be getting up at the equivalent of 2:30 AM, thanks to my body being on West Coast time...

It's so awesome that they have computers with internet in every room though. That's a MAJOR bonus. If I have time, I'll write up my review right then and there. Unless I'm denied, in which case I might just jump out the window.

CanadaCalling Len
YOu bet you will, lady!

And yeah, Len was hilarious and forthright... she was a cool poster -- I'm wishing her the best and I hope all is well...

So true. I have met a few great people from this place "IRL" and I plan to meet more.

Even if I don't personally know a lot of the posters, I do care about them also. Like if something were to happen to anyone I talked to on here, I would be upset. I am not going to deny that.

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
She must HATE the look of my email right now BUT, she asked me to educate her and send her information as to what the CR1 visa was all about so... I did and also plead my case in there as well...
but showing the facts, just the facts...
:D
It's true... maybe. SO, I sent her a scan of the visa with the stamp on it again. Maybe on Monday we can clear things up.

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
Yeah, I HAVE the stamp on my visa! it's why I'm having such a big problem. It's all good on my end. I also scanned a copy of the visa with the stamp on it and sent it to her. I have no idea what she's on about, to be honest...

:)

sorry lgg, maybe missed something, at the POE did you not get the stamp in your passport? It just says CR-1 with a date on it. I just scanned a copy and emailed it to her.

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
No worries on my part -- as a CR1, I tend not to take the K1 stuff under advisement as they are totally different visas. Helpful for other K1s though.
:)

Yes this is correct the K-1 isn't a 90 day work permit. I said I wasn't positive on that and went and rooted out my paper work from when I got my EI
The reason I thought that is, when I came through Halifax they stamped my EAD on the K-1 and in my Passport.
Sorry if I added confusion to your situation

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
HA!!!
You know what, kittyCatty? I totally thought that too! I was like, really? REALLY? But I realize that VJ and all my buddies here have taught me well as I was able to explain to her everything about CR1/IR1 visas...

But yeah, MrsCat... I had that exact thought...
I have sent her all of TM's links and quite a few of my own that I found.
:D

Maybe send Donna a link to the VJ Canadian EI thread, she can just post her questions in there for her out of country EI stuff.

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
Thanks SO much TM... you're a real gem.
I'm just SO shocked that she/they had no idea. I sort of felt like I was/am going to be penalized for their misinformation and that is not right. IT's not like i'm desparate for my benefits BUT to be penalized for ignorance is so wrong. Plus, I"ve paid into them since I was 15...

Thanks a lot... I appreciate that. I've sent Donna all the links and such that she may need to inform herself and her colleagues. How none of you other CR/IR1s hoping for EI get caught like this.
Best,
LGG

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
It even says on my darn visa: "UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR.
I guess I'm just surprised that the interstate head person, the famous DOnna had NO Idea what she was dealing with. She thought the IR1 was a religious work based visa???? [b]

WHy does EVERYTHING have to be fraught with difficulty ?

Thanks Dutchmatt, but I think the verbiage in that letter might confuse them even more.
Yeah, she just called back and said, " I have been looking but I can't even find what a CR1 visa is... "

Very. Very. Very confusing to me.

CanadaUrgent help, guys!!!
This is regarding EI but no one reads that forum so here goes.

I am dealing with the famous Donna at the interstate office -- she needs me to provide proof that he stamp in my passport for my CR1 visa acts as my green card until my greencard arrives.

SO, can anyone here find a real, bonefide link to a government site that says that? Otherwise I'll be penalized for like 2 or 3 weeks until I get my green card.

It's odd, as Donna was the know all of our claims but she thought that the IR-1 visa was a religious belief based visa.

Any help appreciated...

Well, my wife is going to be the breadwinner in our household for a little while, at least. It doesn't bother me at all, actually -- she's a couple of years older than me, and has a Master's. She's a hard worker and deserves her relative success.

In a couple of years or so I'll probably be in the same financial ballpark as her, but in the interim, I'm just proud of her for her career achievements. :)

Uh yeah... I think the last batch was December 3rd. They are/should be scheduling as we speak. I would LOVE to hear some good news of that ilk too...

Sorry MissMystery for derailing your happy thread.

Not to derail this thread, but...

Yeah, that IS the best news we've heard here in a long time isn't it? How long has it been since someone had an interview schedule or a visa approval?

CanadaReasons for Optimism
hey ZansGirl...
VEnt away -- you're allowed to and yes, 'tired of leaving' is exactly how I described it. Some people are lucky -- they live with their spouse or whatnot during this process or, 'normal' couples who didn't have to immigrate to be together -- but it's super hard being apart all the time, spending only a few days a month or less together -- it wears you down.

Feel free to vent -- most of us here understand that fully. This is a place where no one will tell you that you're over stressing about being separated from your spouse and we'll understand...

:)
LGG

hubby called NVC this morning.... Very nice gentleman assured us that Montreal was schedualling, and if we were given a date...we would know by the 18th....

Kinda have heard this before!! September 25th seems like sooo long ago!! I kept thinking...any day now....and November passed...then December....I know it isn't near as long as some have been waiting...but it is hard...
My daughter and her fiance are planning a trip from Grande Prairie to Tacoma to visit hubby and I.. she is 3 1/2 months pregnant now.. sure hope I am there!!!! :(
My friends in Victoria say I "over-stress" about this immigration, but I think until you are in this situation, where your destiny is determined by others, you just don't get it. They can go see their husbands or wives whenever.....WE have to book flights, assemble files of paperwork, answer a slew of questions at the border, and then, WE have to leave again.......I am tired of leaving.....

anyway....sorry for the downer...needed to vent and expell some of the negative to make room for all the positive I need!!!!

GO GO VJ'ers!!!!!
(thank (whomever) you are here!!!)

I am not bald so I can't be Curly. I think I'm a Moe, actually. ;)

and I really hope that's true about Montreal -- the waiting game is getting to be a bit much as I'm sure everyday more and more Canadians are waiting. It ain't right...

So...which one is Curly?

And for optimism, I read on another thread (I think the K1) that someone phoned Mtrl and they said they had done some hiring and were now fully staffed.

Oh my gosh!!!!
It is, isn't it? I have SO much work to do that I have barely thought about it. Well, that's a lie but I am not nervous. We've booked all the travel and the hotel -- we're staying in La Square Phillips as it seems like a super nice place and it's not far from the Consulate at all. I also booked that weekend off my second job so I could just chill out. We're both meeting in Montreal on the Sunday so we can have a couple of days to hang out and eat some good food and relax and stuff.

Thanks for the reminder, T.M.
;)

Good luck with getting your NOA2...

Sigh. This thread is now degenerating into physical abuse, I see. I just stopped by to wish you all speedy interviews. It is in my best interest if Montreal gets all of you scheduled for February and clears up the backlog, as I am ever hopeful I will someday see my NOA2...

Hey Bern, yeah Wyatt and I called them yesterday or the day before and were told to STFU and GTFO!! Okay, not really but the usual you have not been scheduled, we don't know when, please call back...
Yadah, yadah, yadah...

I find that calling them and hearing that really wrecks the 15 minutes or so after the call. then I get back to the okay, just waiting. But that 15 minutes or so after the call is rough. It's a good t hing I have a private office here at work as I often cry when I get off the phone with them.

I am a big baby. This I freely admit to.
