To you...

Ugh. Moving. It's looking more and more like we'll just keep this house and rent up there until we've had a chance to familiarize ourselves with the area. I hate the thought of people moving into my house here. I was cleaning the shower this morning and thinking.... "I KNOW people aren't going to take care of my house like I do!" How do I make them do that? :crying:

To this day, Thursdays are STILL my favourite night of the week to go out! It's because you can stay out late, get silly and Friday is usually casual day AND anyone can make it through another day and then it's the weekend.

Thursdays for the win!!!!!
:D

Lol I remember a few years ago it was standard practice for my friends and I to have 'Thirsty Thursdays' where we'd drink and play cards or whatever until 3am, then all would have to work around 8:30am the next day. I can not tell you how many times Friday mornings felt like a few steps from death Lol, hope you feel better!!

Ha! Your NeoCitron thing made me laugh!
I know... the waiting sucks so, so, so, so hard. IT really does. But it'll be worth it in the end and what I've found, is that while it sucks, when things start rolling along, you forget aaaaalll about how long you waited. Promise....

Go hang out, relax do some fun kizza things and well, gear up to wait and accept it. Before you know it, you'll be racing around going, "OMFG, I can't believe i'm doing it and it's here and holy cow!"
:)
Chin up...

Im sorry to hear about your husband Rhian. That really sucks. I hope things work out quickly for you guys.

Alright, I need to vent because today, it's been 4 months since we got our NOA1, and Im watching people from november get approved while we've been told our case simply hadnt been assigned to an adjudicator yet.
I know we havent been waiting that long, and that patience is a virtue and all that krap, but when I think of the wait Im also facing in Montreal, it just feels like this is never going to happen.

bleh... I feel like calling it a week, chuking a good mug of neocitron spiked with rum and sleeping off the weekend!
... and I dont even have a cold.

Oh man, how crass is that, eh?

As someone eating some very good dijon right now, I cannot even fathom what she could be talking about.

That's some pretty poor manners right there...

As many of you know, my work feeds us every single day - yea it's a perk and I personally appreciate it. Well today they made some hot turkey sandwiches and I guess they put some fancy mustard on it, but my boss hated it and she walks into the kitchen and yells: "That was DISGUSTING! AWFUL! UGH!"

I was so embarrassed for her... I was. Beggars cannot be choosers. You don't like it, don't eat it! But don't go yelling at our cooks who prepared it for you FOR FREE.

I know, I'm hilarious, right?

I NEVER talk on the phone, sept maybe to my husband and such. and I will talk non-stop to my friends and people I like.
People I don't know or large groups where I know, no one? Nope. Call me Clammy McClammerson.

I hate the phone but I LOVE talking and yakking to my friends. In real life. In person.
On the internet it's easy to be a hybrid of that as shyness or insecurity don't show as much.
:D

No I am actually the opposite... I talk non stop IRL.

I am an extrovert to the T. I would rather talk on the phone than text though.

That's me too, actually. I'm also pretty good in a small group of people I know well and that I feel comfortable with. Then I can let go and just chit chat. But I am really not that great with a large group of people that I don't know that well.

I think Social Introvert is a perfect description, actually...
Good one, Reven...

You and Sprailenes are what I call "Social introverts"--chatty on the net but introverted in real life. LOL, that's me too.

I don't have a landline, just a cellphone but I'll tell you -- I am lucky if it rings a few times a week...

My husband had a cell phone and I used a landline. I owned a phone a year before I moved down but I didn't really use it. Omg I hated it actually, people don't even use it to phone you it's just like an instant messenger in your pocket. I hate texting.

I'm really worried for myself too -- two degrees and working in marketing... I have no idea what work in the US holds for me...
Good luck to you J&K and Beans too...

I'm starting to feel really lost, and having panic attacks.

I just found out I didn't get another job.

I've had a few interviews, but apparently I'm not good enough :(

I'm really worried because my UI isn't going to last much longer, and I don't know where to turn to, or even know if my current job is going to pick up.

I was promised that it would at the beginning of the year....well it hasn't.
Of course, I have been promised a lot of things by my boss that haven't happened.

Like that I would be Full Time by May 2008. I work at most 15hours/week. That I would be making 60-75000 a year. I make like 23000.

Not good :( Not good at all.

Yeah, despite my flippity-floppity outward appearance, i'm way more Type 'A' than I care to admit.

And thank you for the giving away on Kijiji advice -- the getting rid of my bigger bits of furniture is my only real worry right now..
I don't mind giving it away -- it's just stuff. I would like to donate it to a shelter or something but, I have no way of getting it all there myself.

OH, if anyone knows of someone who'd like a really nice antique wardrobe from the 20s, I happen to have one!
:)

You sound organized lgg!

Hey one other suggestion for your furniture - if you do end up giving it away - what we did was post an ad at kijiji to give some stuff away and a nice couple came and picked it up! It saves you having to haul stuff to donate, if they can't pick it up in your timeframe.

I think I'm all ready, I have all my stuff, got the ExpressPost mailer and whatnot. Husband got the last 5 pay stubs from his job, I have all our travel itineraries and hotel room reservation printed...

Last night, I spent the evening called UPack and confirming stuff with them, figured out what to do with my larger furniture -- if I don't give it to friends or sell it, I found a womans' shelter here in T.O. that will pick up and I'll donate it...

Type A LGG is kicking in...

...I know every engineer on every train
All of their children, and all of their names
And every handout in every town
And every lock that ain't locked
When no one's around.

I sing,
Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let, fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means

Yeah, I'm excited to be on the road. Unforunately, I THINK I'm coming down with a cold! I was worried this would happen. I've been taking extra vitamins and sucking on Zinc lozenges for a few days, but I think a cold is coming on. Well, no biggie. I'm still leaving tomorrow. If I have to take it easier and take an extra day to get down there, so be it.

Hi all! Just wanted to let y'all know that I'm HOME now...in Alexandria! :D

It was a long drive, obviously, and it took a full three days...much of it in truly abysmal weather (i.e.: I learned why they call them The Badlands in South Dakota...blowing snow and 50 MPH winds through an area of utter nothingness...), but I'm finally here! Got in at 11:15 local time last night...the only wrong turn I made on the whole drive was after I got off the I-395 and got a little lost within ten blocks of home. :P

POE was fine...I'll post a review later. Indeed, I'll probably post more details of my drive later. Just wanted to pop in briefly for now and let those of you who were wondering about me know that I'm alive...and HOME! :D :joy:

Oh blurgh 1000$! Well, soon enough you'll be together in the new apartment and all will be well! Nothing wrong at all with being over-prepared! Especially since if they do require something of you, no matter how little, it'll take them weeks and weeks to rectify! I say be obscenely over-prepared rather than not.

Soon enough, bern... it goes a lot faster than you'd think!

Nope, I haven't seen him...since July 2009. ): You have no idea how hard it was to not just get up and go to the US for his homecoming, but that would have been $1000 that I can't afford to spend..haha! But yeah, he just got back from Kuwait last night, he's all safe and back where he should be. You are going to be JUST awesome, Bern... have you seen your husband yet? When will that be?

As for the kitties, it's just the cat that my husband has -- she is NOT impressed with my cat at all. My cat has lived with other cats before and doesn't give a hoot really but she will get mad if she's swatted at or hissed at. She's tried to make friends with the other cat. Sad thing? Husband's cat is super mad at me as I'm sure she's realized that I'm at fault here for bringing in the other cat.

Put in an order yesterday for some Feliway and hopefully that'll help a little bit.

I know... this is what I spend my days doing... cat herding!! :D Well, until my SSN arrives that is.

Thanks for you well wishes, Bern -- right back at you.

Hi lgg!!

Glad to hear you're alive in well!

The homesickness thing gets a lot easier in time. It still pops up on ya every now and then at weird moments, but for the most part, that everyday feeling of being a little lost and a little out of place vanishes. The first month or so was hard for me, but now I've adjusted so well this is home to me. Having your hubby and your little fluff ball will work wonders :)

Thanks, dc... yeah, it's all of those things, a little bit of this and a little bit of that -- I know for a fact that until I learn to drive I won't have that feeling of complete independence and I need a little bit of that for MY routine.
Thanks so much and of course... we WILL meet up at some point and hang out -- no doubt about that...
:)

My situation is a little different because I lived in MD for a bit with the hubby then moved back to Canada. And in some ways, having moved around so much, Ive never really felt at home and this will be my first ever real home. However, I did miss my independence the first few weeks I was there. I missed making decisions without considering his POV, I missed getting in and out of the house on my own, I missed my own pay check :P Of course I missed my family in TO and I truly miss my friends -- I doubt Ill ever make such great friendships like from home, but being with my hubby offsets most of those longing feelings.

My friend, its gonna be tough for a bit especially if you live in the country without any means of transit. But once you get your set of wheels and explore your new hood, its gonna be better. Right now it feels like more of his home but not quite your home. But you will make your own routine, you will find your own niche, you will start to forge your own schedule and it will start feeling like home! Just hang in there! And we can always meet up for some good coffee if you need to vent. And I am more than happy to show you around town! (At least my parts of MD... yours is foreign to me as well!):)

Sorry bout your cats though. Maybe give them more time to get used to... its only been a few weeks :)

*BIG HUG!*
