Dear La Souris....
I have blocked Montreal weather out of my mind.
I was there during the ice storm. Were you there for that? We had no power for like a week and I was off work for 2 weeks. IT was amazing/scary and everything all at the same time.

We had to use a cookstove to make me coffee or I would have lost my mind.

And yeah, Maryland summers are totally sultry and hot. Yay for AC.
Seriously.

LoL, never been to Baltimore really. Had a layover once and ventured out for a few hours, but never spent any real time there. My father always hated Maryland because when he was in basic training in the army, he was stationed somewhere there. He hated the weather but more, he hated the low % beer they had laughing.gif

Why do postal delivery people do stupid things like LEAVE YOUR FRIGGING PACKAGE OUTSIDE THE STOOP IN BALTIMORE CITY...?

It's not like we are living in the white picket fenced houses in Columbia or Ellicott City in Maryland... we are in downtown Baltimore... where theft is unbelievably high.

So today the USPS person who delivers drops a very big but super duper lightweight package at the neighbor's stoop. The package is huge, it doesnt fit in the mail box. But its very light... like I can lift it with my index and thumb fingers. The weather calls for strong wind... and of course the package FLIES to the middle of the street...

And did I mention we live in downtown Baltimore, where there is a DONT LEAVE PACKAGES ON DOOR STOOP mandate...???

UGH.

So the busybody that I am, I take my neighbor's package in. I guess in a way this is a good opportunity to meet the neighbors tongue.gif

NOW I know what happened to my first wedding dress, which mysteriously never came to our house... even though the USPS said it was "delivered".

Ha! Poprocks, this story KILLED me. As someone who has a cat that I love, I can honestly say,I would not tolerate about 80% of that cat's behavior. Seriously. I'm a person who while loving a cat, has always taught my cats that they are NOT allowed on certain areas, kitchen is verboten and that they never get human food as I don't like an animal that begs at the table.
I think cats are trainable, it's about letting them know who's boss. Maybe I'm lucky, I've had the same cat for about 16 years now and she rocks because she's the kind of cat that if I come home and she's sleeping on my spot on the couch, she'll get up when she knows I'm home and go to sleep on her chair or somewhere as she knows that's my spot -- she's very polite, actually. When I say no, she stops doing something. i also teach my cats the 'finger snap' when she does something I don't want her to, I snap my fingers and say no, she stops. She's a great cat but maybe I'm lucky as she was always sweet and mellow and very easy to train. probably one of the reasons I love her. Dunno. I am strict with my animals though, there are rules in place for them, IMHO...

I don't think i'm a cat person per se, as like people, some you like and some you don't and I happen to like my cat a lot ...

anyway, sorry to hear that PR... tell your husband he needs to start getting a little firmer with the cat as it seems that the cat'll probably only listen to him. They are trainable though, this I believe as every cat I've ever owned has followed the finger snap rule.

But maybe I'm just super bossy!
;D

QUOTE (poprocks @ Nov 28 2009, 01:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ok, seriously...tell me if i'm crazy.... there is a third party in our relationship...and some days it drives me bonkers! lol... it's my husbands cat!

Seriously, i'll start by saying that we think this cat is bipolar lol...my husband agrees...when I first met my husband...we started calling the cat his gay lover lol...and now I seriously feel as though I am in competition with this cat, over my husband lol. He is extremely needy and attention starved. The second my husband gets home...the cat is all over him. I understand he needs his time too, so I usually give him an hour or so to get his fill...but I swear this thing does not give us any time to ourselves!...as soon as my husband sits or lies on the couch, he gets up on him and all up on his face, almost trying to make out with him...ahaha...no really. My husband laughs and says, just move him....and my husband is really good about it...but some days i'm like 'enough already'. Am I crazy?

I'll be sitting on the couch with my husband, all cuddled up, and if we are affectionate...the cat tries to jump up in between us, and tries to squish himself in between us, pushes at me with his feet...tries to get in his face...nuzzles, and then looks back at me with his snobby face...we laugh cause it's hilarious....if my husband shoo's him away too many times...he looses it and starts acting out by furiously running around and getting into stuff to cause s***.

He follows my husband all over the house, and the second he sits down...if I get up for one second to use the bathroom, I come back and he is already nuzzled in my seat up against him... when we used to date, in his smaller condo, we used to have to lock him out of the room just to get privacy. He is so obsessed with him, at night, we have to put him in the in law suite and close the door, or else the entire night, we'd be dealing with him trying to jump up into the bed and get in between us...

There is a ton more, and my husband thinks it's funny...he obviously puts me first, but sometimes I feel like i'm competing with the cat! lol...

And I now come to learn, that cats are nothing like dogs...this thing never listens and is not trainable...my husband says to give up...I am an extremely neurotically clean person. And my rules are simple...I give him free roam of the house...but the rules are, no beds and no furniture (couches are ok) but not tables and the one I hate the most is the kitchen counter! I have caught him on the counter a couple of times and neurotically started disinfecting the whole kitchen. seriously feel at times he does it on purpose cause he knows it gets to me! lol...like when he gets caught, before I can even say or do a thing...he bows his head and bolts...so obviosuly he knows it's wrong...

Oh, another example...which my husband thinks is funny and I think is weird lol....when he follows my husband all over, he will follow him in the bathroom...as soon as my husband makes the motion to take off his shirt...the cat immediately jumps into the shower....hello?!

What ever happened to a normal cat...I hear of people saying that cats do their own thing etc... our cat is glued to my husband the second he gets home...we have to put him away if we want peace and quite...during dinner, we have to put him away, because the whole time he tries to get up on my husbands lap when we eat...and I hate having animals in the kitchen when we are eating...thats just me.

At his old place, when we used to lock the cat out of the bedroom, whether we were sleeping or trying to be intimate...this thing would claw at the door the whole time making these horendous crying sounds! He wouldn't let us sleep...he would run and bang at the door with his head...trying to get in and at my husband....haha...I know this sounds nuts...but he also gets into stuff that he shouldn't...he goes into all the bathrooms and claws and unravels all the toilet paper...if we lock him out or in the in law suite...give him an hour and the place looks like a bomb hit it! Plants turned over, paper all over, all the drawers opened etc....

I understand that it was just them two for 8 years...but I refuse to let a cat rule my house. I accepted him because my husband loves him, and I would never make him choose...so even though I was never a cat person, I really have tried to give it a fair try and do have love for him...but man is he making this hard or what?

Is he normal, cause he sounds a bit much to me? I literally can get no alone time with my husband...

ok, i'm done sad.gif

I think it has bothered me more these past couple of days cause my husband has been sick and at home lying on the couch...I can't even sit with my husband on the couch to take care of him, cause this thing is attached to his armpit! My husband laughs and says 'just move him'... my husband has honoured all my requests...but I don't want him to think it's me...I mean, am I being unreasonable? I know there are cat lovers that have a different tolerance than I do...I just don't think this cat is normal. We call the cat my husbands gay lover lol

AAARRRRGGGH!!!!!

Okay, back at work which is okay. BUT there's this douchebag guy that works where I do, he's the kind of guy that never shows up on time, leaves early, takes tons and tons of days off but somehow gets away with it. IT turns out that our design department gets labeled as slackers based solely on this guy's idiocy and such. SO, he also likes to come over and sit and talk with my co-worker, right on her desk where everyone can see him (add that to slacker label) and he's loud and has a loud, braying laugh that makes my skin crawl.

So today, he's over there talking and talking and talking and I'm going crazy and I can't concentrate. ON anything. So, I walk over and say to them, hey, why don't you guys go over and talk in Dude's area as for some reason, there is no one in his department, therefore no one to bother.. I don't think it went over very well because I said it and I walked away.

Whatever.
I talk to people and stuff of course, but I make sure that I'm not bugging the hell out of anyone and I'm aware of the fact that if the head people see us hanging about, something WILL be said eventually...

This guy does not give a ####### and well, I can't stand him or his work ethic or lack thereof.

So... yeah... That's about all i got. I am so freaking envious that your place is all cleaned and stuff. I am NOT looking forward to that. Husband had a car here so we took the remaining goodwill bags to donation and there's a crapload of stuff to do...

I will leave my place clean but I am SO glad about the security deposit thing, I always hated that BS. we pay first and last here in Ontario and that is it. It's just the last month's rent.

OH and I will tell you, I HATE using other people's computers. Hate it and in the inverse, I hate people using my computer too. I find them akin to my journal or personal papers and stuff.

I spent four hours at my old apartment today, moving the last dregs of stuff and cleaning up. But holy ####### there's a lot of stuff that I should probably do...but don't have the gumption to do it. I mean, the apartment is clean from a live-in standpoint...but I'm not sure if it's up to snuff when it comes to new tenants moving in etc. At this point, I'm fine with my former landlord just taking it out of my security deposit, if need be. I also don't react well to cleaning solvents...I tend to not be able to breathe when I'm using them. And you can't clean if you can't breathe.

Yeah, I made a really mild comment in there...but then the thread started to get offensive. I mean, I'm not easily offended -- really I'm not! -- but insinuating that Canadians back down and surrender in wars just goes too far. So I stopped reading it.

On a related note, the event planners at The Mansion in Buffalo where I got married were thinking it would be a great idea if they had "theme cookies" as part of the dessert tray...like maple leafs or hockey sticks or something. I forbade it outright! Apparently they still managed to stick something quaintly Canadian on there, but I only found out after the fact, since I didn't have much time to examine the tables that night!

EFFING Easter Seaboard Weather.
Hate you. Hate you so much. Thanks for the delays that you have caused in the flight schedules. Because it's not like I have to wait for enough damn stuff already.
Am waiting for my interview. No go on that yet, still waiting.
I wait to see my husband, no go -- you've delayed his flight making me feel like the potential for waiting is even greater.
i have to wait to move. Waiting
I have to wait to get on with my life. Waiting, waiting, waiting...
I have to wait to do pretty much everything. Wait, wait, wait...

So thank you, eastern seaboard whether for chiming in after we've had about 3 weeks of no rain and gorgeous weather, you decide to rain today. Thank you.

I know. Ridiculous rant but from a person who was born with very little patience, my last patience nerve is getting fried over here...
/rant
and thank you all...

But we're not allowed to eat anywhere else.
Everyone eats at their desk.

What she was telling me could have waited 10 minutes. It was turkey dinner for lunch today... don't come between me and my turkey. tongue.gif

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm turkey.

So you're not allowed to eat anywhere if you elect to eat the meal that they provide you? Are they afraid you'll steal the flatware? laughing.gif. I would decline just so I could eat elsewhere.

Well the office staff is expected to stay at their desks. All the other staff gets to sit in the break room. I mean just incase something major happens like the copier or duplicator jamming or better yet some big wig coming in and wanting a tour.

You know cuz stuff like that happens ALL the time. /sarcasm

Hey! I did this a few days ago too! Isn't it awesome find out that Canada is one of the slowest consulates in the world? And we aren't even a developing country any more!
Frankly? I think we should be embarrassed. And no, not be included in the ranks of Ghana, Gambia and Iran but because we tout ourselves as being so savvy and in the know and ahead of the game.

This is one thing that is a little proof in the pudding that we are not...

Just sayin'...

Totally off-topic, but still vent-worthy...

Wow, I just checked the timeline statistics and found out that for CR-1 / IR-1 filers, only Ghana, Gambia and Iran have longer wait times between NOA2 and interview than Canada...

I've never smoked a day in my life (well, not cigarettes that is...I smoke cigars on occasion, but don't inhale), but I've always had to regularly clear my throat. It's no big deal, but it bugs me sometimes. I've tried Mucinex and another phlegm removing medicine or two, but they haven't had any effect. I suspect my tonsils are doing too good of a job...

So don't knock us throat clearers TOO much, Bowflex!

Haha If it was just someone clearing their throat that didn't smell like the Marlboro man I'd just take it in stride, I realize some folks just have medical problems or something like that. The fact that I actually hear him spitting whatever he coughs up into his trash can does not help his cause either Lol.

GO out with coffee with her? ####### for??? I mean, that's a lovely sentiment, Carla but I don't think life is about feeling sorry for or pandering to everyone out there that has needs that we can't possibly meet.

That sounds like a bit of a nightmare to me, actually. I am very choosy as to whom I spend my time with and I'm sorry, I don't care if it's the President of the USA or a cleaning lady, if you're bugging me, you're bugging me and if you don't have the intuitive sense to understand that, I doubt very much we are going to get along well enough to warrant us going out for a coffee.

Then again... it is people like you, Carla that balance out people like me. ANd balance is a good thing.

;)

don't hurt me, i'm sick and not functioning at a very high level lately.

I take the dog for a walk about 2 hours before I go to bed. This is actually about when I started having troubles with my sleep. It is also coincidentally when my wife left for her trip to visit her family.
