He will have to show hie birth certificate. At least that was one of the standard requirements on the checklist we had.

Just send a letter to USCIS with the info suplementing what you already sent and explain the oversight. I wouldnt think u have much to worry about as long as you correct it. Or you could wait until the interview and make a note of it there.

Why would you not fill out the forms in English, considering they are being submitted to a U.S. government agency? I know that depending on the embassy, some documents can be submitted in the local language but not filling out the forms at the very least in english?? Especially if they have to be moved or reviewed by others outside the embassy at some other point i would think this shouldnt be a question.

I have received citizenship in Sweden and although i technically could have submitted the forms in english,,, i was submitting to the SWEDISH immigration board. Just a matter of showing good faith and respect.

She has not been a permanent resident of the USA for 6 years or so, but was born and bred and studied her undergraduate there.

DCF=I130 right?

Thanks a bunch

Mat

We are talking about if she meets the residency requirement in germany. Has she been living in germany legally for 6 months? if so you file the i130 directly with the consulate there. you will have interview shortly after and if all is in order issued your immigrant visa.

in many cases the whole process can take as little as 6 weeks.

wonder if those that "over talk" such as the 4 or 5 times a day and for hours mentioned in this thread might find they have nothing to talk about when they finally can be together in person. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you maintain your Long Distance Relationship?
QUOTE (ABENITEZ @ Jan 31 2009, 12:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ok, so this might be a bit off topic, but are any of you struggling the way we are? Our entire relationship was long distance and it was always a struggle. I thought after we got married n got the papers rollin that things would get better. For like a month after we got married we were doing great but now its back to fighting all the time. It is purely stress from living apart, its not that we dont love eachother or get along, but when ur so far, even if u do trust ur spouse, theres a feeling of insecurity. We probably have at least a year of this and I neeeeed advise???

I understand that you feel like your relationship is a struggle some days. I used to feel that way too.... But I can tell you this... It will get better! A lot better. Me and my husband met while I was vacationing in the US 3 years ago. I had to go back home after spending only 1 week with him....(I met him on the last week I was over there!) We knew that things were going to be hard... And we really didn't know much about each other... All we knew was that we really felt for each other and that we could not just let each other go without trying. So we started dating..... The first 6-8 months was not always easy, but not so bad that we wanted to break things off! So we went ahead and got married.... Everything changed after that. He have met all my friends, family, co-workers etc...
We have lived together in my apt as married couple(all this before we got married) But what really changed everything was the marriage itself. We trust each other 100% and the stupid arguments/fights that we used to have doesn't happen anymore.... We have the BEST relationship! He is my best friend and lover... Everything! We have changed so much and everything is for the better... We talk about that a lot. And we both agree on that it is mostly cuz we are husband and wife now. Marrying someone is a huge thing and that's when you know that what you have is for real, not some game that you're playing!

I know for sure that things will get better between you two if you only give it a chance! Don't start a fight the minute you get on the phone/online etc. Maybe you should do what me and my husband did... We wrote this thing together "Our beautiful love story", it took about 3 days. What we did was that we decided on a "topic" for each day that we would write about. We started out with "the first time I saw you".... So I wrote down my thoughts and feelings about this moment. And he wrote his.... 3 days later we had our story in a folder on our comps. It was a great feeling reading his thoughts and feelings about me and the things that we had been been doing for the past 6 months or so... I still read this "story" some times and it puts a big smile on my face every time... After we had finished this little project we felt so blessed for finding each other. We realized how lucky we are to have each other! Things like this might seem silly to some, but it really makes a difference. Another thing you can do is try not to talk to each other in a couple of days.... Or will that make things worse? How about if you do some shopping online together? Like picking out things that you want to get for your first place together.... If you can't get online at the same time to do this, you can send him pictures and ask what he thinks about this and that... You need to do things "together", like you were living together. Watch the same movies and talk about them etc. There is so many things that you can do to make a long distance relationship a lot easier. If you can't find a way to do so, maybe you are not meant to be? How will things get once you live together in the US? I'm sure you can find a way out of this!! smile.gif Don't give up!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo i have to stay in the US while applying for my wife?
QUOTE (srac @ Apr 21 2009, 05:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi guys, I wanted to know if i have an address in the US, and a US bank account and a State ID, do i have to stay in the US, the whole time that I'm applying for the CR-1 visa for my wife. I was thinking, that I would apply for her then I could leave the US and go back to the country she's in and stay there a while, for example a period of 5 months or so. Then come back to the US a few months before she's expected to come. I'm using a co-sponsor, and after the i-130 form would be approved, I could have my sister send all the paper work required at that time to NVC by mail, since she would remain in the US. Does anyone know if this is fine? That the sponsor leaves the US for a couple of months while waiting on the Visa to come out?? I mean i think it should be no problem, that the US citizen leaves the country right?? Just that the Inteding immigrant is not allowed to enter the country while their visa is being processed, if anyone has any answers let me know thank you very much for your help.

I was wondering the same thing last night.... Well it was not suppose to be a problem, as long as you have a US bank account, an apartment etc. So you should be good to go! I found that info online. Don't remember if I got the link from VJ or if it was on google.... Well you should be able to find it! good.gif

Yep. good.gif You can find the info regarding that on one of the forms, don't remember which one....(My husband is going to file for a IR-1/CR-1 soon so I have read all the documents required for this type of visa)

The sponsorship requirements remain the same...though if the petitioner(alone) is only barely able to fulfill those requirements, a co-sponsor should be lined up...just in case.

Good question! I'd like to know that too. Not that I'm pregnant, but just for the record..... :P (Who knows what will happen.....)

My wife is a little more than 7 months pregnant and we are just starting the NVC process and I will submit the forms tomorrow.
The DS-230 asks if we have kids which I assume as of right now the answer is technically no.

My question is, if I answer no on all the forms for having no kids and then they find out she is pregnant, or even if she has the baby
RIGHT before the interview, what would happen?

Hi, Well It's up to the officer at your POE. Some are very nice and friendly, some not so..... I had a really hard time at EWR(Newark Airport) in September of last year. But I have met some very nice people too! I am married to a USC (since 2007) and I have visited him 8 or 9 times during the years.I had no trouble entering the US 50% of those times, but I always bring a lot of evidence "just in case". And that is something all of us should do. In your case you need to bring your work schedule etc that will prove that you are still working in Germany!(I do this every time I go.) Maybe you have some kind of lease/contract on a apartment that you can take with you?

(Note that I am married but I have not filed for a visa.)

Age is not a problem. As long as your wife make enough money to support you and you have a "real" marriage... no problem. Good luck! :)

Hi!

Me (swedish citicen) and my wife (USC) just sent in out I-130 form. At this point we are both crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.

Lately i have been readin a lot about the process and that made me think and worry.

My question is:

The two of us only sent in our marriage certificate and and affidavit sworn by my mother in law. Will this be enough or will it cause us trouble. The reason for the lack of evidence is that we have never really lived together since we are both 19 years old.
This leads me to my other question, will our age be a problem ?!

// Worried

I also want to give a big thanks to all the helping people at this forum.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting during pending K-1 from a VWP country
I traveled to the USA while our K1 visa was being processed, but just in case I had my employer sign a document stating that I was expected to be back by that and that date due to being "important" to current projects.
I never had to show anything at the checkpoint, but it is good to have at least some evidence with you stating that you are not staying in America.
(Traveling from Sweden I was also obligated to have a plane ticket that stated the date of my return trip)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325 Address history
I used to move around quite a bit (due to having a stroke of bad luck in my life), but on the form I basically put down the addresses that really mattered, ie.: Places where I lived for a significant time over the last 5 years.
And that seemed to suffice quite well.
I didn't think adding 6 residency addresses over 1 year as that important.

But I also think that the country you are moving from might have a thing to do with how accurate you have to be.
For example, if you are from the UK, I would put down Every address that you can remember, due to past years events in that country.
Since I live in Sweden, and that Sweden is considered a neutral country with a good history and so on, I could be a little more vague with the information.

But in general, if you have the address and the duration, please do give the needed info, the more the better.

During my packing and sorting and such, I found some of my old ticket stubs that I thought I had thrown away, and all I could do was smile ... lol
It hit me somewhere, I just couldn't stop smiling when I found them...
I also printed my orders for the airline tickets (receipets or however you spell that, its an annoying word to spell tongue.gif) so I have those as a backup that proves that they were indeed paid for.

Just a small question regarding evidence. Will about 30+ photos be enough to state that I have been in America with my fiance lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdivorce and proof of relationship
I think you are refering to my fiancee's and my thread.
We finally got approved. got the call earlier today.

We have similar circumstances, met online (in a game not a dating site. they WILL ask you about this, so you need to name the service that you used).
We started our relationship while she was still legally married to her x-husband.
(note, you cannot file anything until you are both legally free from any past relationships)

Your age is of little importance, since my fiancee is 12 years older then me.
Make sure that you have a notarised copy of the divorce decree with you to the interview (VERY important).
If your primary way of communication is chat (like we had) you might want to start to print logs (make sure you remove any "personal" and for your eyes only, information).
Bring EVERYTHING regardless of how insignificant it might look.
Main thing is to be prepared. I wasn't completely prepared and it ended up in extending the decision about 1,5 weeks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoing the Last Flight...
Just booked my tickets. I will be flying through Chicago. I thought long and hard about it.
1: It will be nice with a break between flights, because it takes about 8-9 hours just to reach chicago.
2: I tend to like going the same route, because it is familiar (chicago airport is huge lol)
3: Economy is a big factor also.

I made sure to have sufficient time at the airport, just in case something might happen. So I have about 4 hours to look around and stretch my legs.
Or I could crash at the coffee bar. Then again, I have had American coffee before, it is like tea.
Being Swedish I am VERY picky with my coffee (but I do drink other coffee if mine isn't present).

So to sum it up. Tickets going through Chicago, about a 4 hour layover. Land in Portland at about 5pm... go to IKEA and buy a drawer chest... go home for some celebration biggrin.gif

So it would be inspected in Portland ? The past few times I have landed there, I haven't gone through any security that checks passports or anything.
Basically just get off the plane and get your luggage.

The reason I am asking this is just to get a more accurate vew of the whole thing.

Connecting in Frankfurt would make my first part of the trip very fast, and then I could basically just sleep the rest of the way or something.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoing the Last Flight...
I was going through a site that I usually use to book my flights, when it hit me.
Does it matter what POE I use? hold on I am not done yet.

What I mean is, does it matter if my POE is Frankfurt, or does it have to be on US soil?

Since I am flying to the West coast in the US, I will be required to switch flights.

Currently a lot of flights go through European cities (due to the time of year) instead of like before, though American cities.
Previously I have always flown From Arlanda (Sweden) to America and landed in Chicago, New Wark, Philladelphia and from those places taken my connecting flight to Portland (OR).

The prices vary a lot depending on what day and what route is taken. So I would like to have this clarified so it would make my decision easier.
Will my Visa be inspected the same way if I connect through Frankfurt as it would in any other American Airport?

This happened to me. Basically they are just going to analyze your case a little more.
Generally nothing to worry about, if you have anything else you can send in as more evidence, please do so.
And they will call you when they have examined your case (it took about 1-1.5 weeks before I got my call).

They will send you your photos and emails and everything back to you (unless they instruct you otherwise)
Just make sure that you do not open the brown envelope that has a stamp on it explaining that it is only the POE officer that is allowed to open it.

You will probably get back your photos, but the emails and other evidence will become part of the entire case.
(I got back all the photos, but all other materials that were sent in were in the brown envelope... well at least I think they are in there since they were not anywhere else lol)
