IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAfter case complete, how much time before interview?
Thanks! I haven't tried searching using the timeline thingy yet. It seems to take a little longer with Stockholm than other places:(.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAfter case complete, how much time before interview?
Oh my, I hope it won't be closer to 10 mos. Does the NVC have information about particular Embassies' backlog situations? I know it's the NVC who schedules the interviews, and not the Embassy.

Yes, I plan on calling NVC to make sure everything's in order. We just responded to a checklist.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAfter case complete, how much time before interview?
I'm expecting our case will be completed this week or next, and because I'm planning a trip I'm wondering how long it usually takes after that to receive an interview date, and how far in advance I'll be notified. I'm interviewing in Stockholm and I have heard of one very long wait, but hopefully it doesn't reflect the norm!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230, section 2--vaccinations
I was fully covered according to the physician, no additional vaccinations required, so my question is what do I do now that I've already checked yes to the above question? Do I bring in another form with me to the interview?
rosajoFemaleSweden2012-11-06 18:03:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230, section 2--vaccinations
Thanks to both of you. I will check yes then.

I've also seen people try and fail, but in each of those cases, the person didn't understand what a religious waiver is. They don't approve objections on moral grounds alone, so I think some people get confused because it's worded as such.

Right, I don't *have* to live in the US.
rosajoFemaleSweden2012-08-11 09:32:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230, section 2--vaccinations
I think the reason that fellow had a difficult time is maybe cause he requested a waiver based on medical grounds, I assume it would involve thorough medical examinations etc for that. The only waiver classification I've heard of is religious. I've heard of other people who have requested this religious waiver and received it rather quickly, within a couple of weeks or so, so all I can do is hope that it works for me. If not, we'll have to find another country to live in.

Are you saying go ahead and check yes on the form under my circumstances? Even though I don't know at this time if I'll need additional vaccinations?
rosajoFemaleSweden2012-08-11 07:40:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230, section 2--vaccinations
I'm planning to request a waiver for any vaccinations I might be deemed required to take to receive a visa, and I'm wondering how to fill out section 2 on the DS-230, question 40a 'who has failed to present documentation of having received vaccinations in accordance with US laws'. Since I won't know for certain till after the medical whether or not I have additional vaccinations I must take (I have record of previous vaccinations from birth up to ten years ago, including vaccines received for a prior green card), do I answer this as no or yes at this time? I understand this section is signed and dated at the time of the interview. Perhaps checking 'no' now and then it can be changed later if necessary?

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a questions
Just wanted to clarify that I mentioned putting N/A instead of leaving it blank because I believe you're supposed to answer each question.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a questions
Oh, sorry, I guess I could reply since I do know this one. For future reference, it's always best if you start a new thread if you have a question pertaining to yourself.
Most beneficiaries/applicants don't have either a social sec number or Alien number, so you put N/A (or none, just don't leave blank).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a questions
So when you say that the Applicant refers to the petitioner, we're supposed to enter the same information on both G-325a's, which would be my USC husband's employment and addresses, not mine? I filled out my form thinking it was my addresses and employment that was being asked for. Looks like I need to fill it out again, and mail. Another week of waiting, but glad I found out before it was too late.

If you look at my recent update, you'll see that we put my husband's temporary US address on the G-325a, but his Swedish permanent address as the main address, and it seemed to have worked (it took us 1 month, but I think the slightly longer wait is due to having a had a green card before). He also has a current Swedish permanent residence card that we included as evidence of an ongoing marital relationship.

From what I can gather, you only get into this 'fast queue' if you list the petitioner's foreign address on everything. We only gave my parents address in the US for question 18 (address where we intend to live) but other than that I only listed my foreign address.

Izola--Congratulations! I also had mine approved in about a month. No RFEs. As I suggested in a previous post, I think the fact that having had a green card before slows things down a little (retrieving old files), yet using the foreign address has put us on the fast track. It didn't take 2 or 7 days, but I take one month over 6 any day:)!

Update - I130 approved yesterday, so totally 37 days on their behalf with RFE handling and what not. I'd say that's probably keeping it on the fast track. Since I assume it would have been approved at the time of the RFE if the papers hadnt been missing.

Thank you! I hope yours is coming soon too, don't give up hope:).

That's awesome! I was thinking of giving up looking, too; you've given me some hope!!

As you can tell by my ticker in my signature, I've been using the average approval date for VSC in the past 3 months. I hope I only have to wait another couple of weeks instead of 4 months!

Congrats either way, though!

Alrighty, here's my update with a date for approval! Have been obsessingly checking our status several times a day, and when two weeks had passed, I sort of gave up hope our petition had been put on the fast track. Still I kept checking, just for the heck of it. My husband and I have had many, many talks about him coming back here, being alone with the kids has been much harder than I could have imagined:(. So Monday morning I checked as per usual and I could not believe my eyes. I think I cried for an hour afterwards.

Priority date was May 22, approval June 21. Perhaps we were not put on the fast track as per foreign address since he also has a temp one in the US, and it went fast anyways because I've had a green card before, or we were indeed on the auto-expedited track and it took slightly longer than for most people on here because they had to retrieve my old files from 1998. Who knows. I'm going with the latter explanation:), and just so relieved we've been spared several months.

Our case is slightly different since my USC husband is working in the US as of 4 months, but because he still maintains his permanent address here (we're keeping our options open and want his residence card to still be valid here should he decide to come back; lives with friends in the US) we did use his Swedish address on the I-130. On the G-325A we put both his temporary US and permanent Swedish address so we'll see what address they'll go by.

1. Country USC resides in: Sweden
2. Is there a USCIS field office in this country / Is DCF still possible? No
3. When did you file the I-130: May 22, 2012
4. How long had you been living abroad: 18 months
5. Do you reside in the country legally? yes
6. What is the reason for your residence: living with Swedish spouse and kids on permanent residence card
7. Did you list your foreign address on all forms in I-130 package? yes, listed Swedish permanent address on I-130 as well as on G-325A, but on the latter also listed temporary US address.
8. Did you send I-130 package from abroad? no
9. Did you include evidence of your residence abroad in the I-130 package? yes, a copy of permanent Swedish residence card, as proof of on ongoing marital relationship
10. Did you mention the fact you reside abroad in the cover letter or write a letter describing your current situation and the evolution of your relationship with your spouse (mentioning your residence abroad)? No, did not include a cover letter.
11. Has your case been "auto-expedited"? Don't know yet! Sure hope it will. Received NOA1 email on May 25, petition was routed to California.
12. How long between NOA1 and NOA2? We shall see... UPDATE: one month between date received (May 22) and approval (June 21). No NOA2 email yet.

Just an update. Our petition was approved Friday, it was received May 22, approved June 21. So I do believe we were auto expedited. My husband is in the US working (living temp in friend's basement) but maintains his permanent residence here in Sweden. So happy!! I thought we weren't going to get it since most people on here had been approved in less than a couple of weeks.

My husband is going to put his Swedish address as permanent/current, though he's currently in the US working as of 2 months. We've lived here in Sweden for the past 18 months together, him on a RC. He maintains his residence here just in case we decide for him to return--our Swedish documents attached to I-130 shows this. He's living at a friend's house temporarily in the US now (is looking for work in various different states so may leave anytime), so we'll put down both of these addresses as current on the G-325a, but use our Swedish address (which I live at) as the main permanent address on the top of I-130.

It'll be interesting to see if this will put us in the fast queue or not:). It's worth a shot.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal Documents at Interview

We have IV interview date set at Guangzhou in August and have a question about bringing original documents to the interview.

Specifically, we have a joint sponsor who provided I-864, W-2, employment letter, US naturalization certificate, pay stub, and Tax return to NVC in PDF through electronic processing. Since he lives in a different state from me, he is reluctant to mail the original documents overseas, concerning about them getting lost in the mail and therefore the potential identity theft issue.

Everybody says to bring more stuff than less to the interview. But I'd still like to know your experience at the interview that if the immigration officer really wants to look at your original documents supporting I-864. If the chance is very slim, then I will not press my sponsor friend too hard mailing his orginal documents overseas.

Thank you in advance!

Hi!

I had an interview last week in Stockholm, i brought all my original documents but they didnt look at them.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A continuations sheet help!
Hey! My wife and i are living in sweden and are trying to get her a visa so we can live in the US.
We have filled out the I-130 and are now filling out the G-325A.
Hers was pretty simple and straight forward... Mine on the other hand....
I have lived at many addresses and worked many jobs the last five years.

Can any one Help?

here are my questions.

for the residency past five years part.

1) when filling out the 'residence last five years' part, if i needed to use a continuation sheet for one, but can fit the next address in the allotted space on the original application, would i put "see attachment" and then continue with the next address in the space below? Or would I then list all following addresses on the continuations sheet following the one i couldnt fit?

2)In between many of my addresses i have returned to a single address, do they want me to list this address every time i have returned to it?

for the employment history part.

4) Three of my last employers businesses have closed down and i cannot find the exact address they had, has anyone written "out of business" or "moved" or something similar that as been accepted on the G-325?

5) if i was studying durring a period of time inbetween my list of employers, has anyone gotten their application accepted by writing student? or would it be better to write unemployed for that slot of time?

6) when it says "full" name and address of Employer, is it asking for the "full name" and the street and number as address? or is it asking for both the full name and the full address (including zip code, city state,) of employer?

Has anyone had these situations in their journey and been successful with one way or another?

Please help, im getting frustrated and cant seem to find any help from the instructions on these issues, nor anyone to call who can help.

thank you.

We will have a happy ending!

That might be true, but I think for them they need no emotion. Just get through the next big pile o applications. I think those who are in charge of budgeting to run the offices is more responsible.

To be honest I think the time it takes is deliberate. Part of the plan to weed out people who don't have bone a fide relationship.

Funny the name of my boyfriend is Jonathan but I call him john!
John and I have being arguing for two days now, and its really sad! What I tried to tell him yesterday was that the main reason that we are arguing this much, is because of the distance between us!
I think that having a relationship (like most of us here) , based on phone calls, msn, skype etc… can make u so frustrated sometimes, because really when you see your love on the other side of the computer sad and lonely, you just wish that you could feel your love in your arms instead of just seating on the other side of the world!
