Middle East and North AfricaHELP!!!!!!
That sucks. Looks like you have a road ahead of you from what i understand. All your answers are right above your post. From what others say, you need to be immediately proactive and contact one of your reps and HAVE THE PETITION RETURN STOPPED before it goes back to us. Go personally to the reps office and lay down your case.

i felt it and woke up. But after working in indonesia after the tsunami.. it was a baby nudge.

p.s. you ask what "other MENA" members experienced this. Why restrict the question to this group??

Although I am not a muslim or non-muslim married to one, this is a question I am very interested in. I have seen many interesting answers in this forum. Just earlier i thought the pets/animals in the house issue was informative.

I am currently in Denmark on holiday/business with my wife and we just had this discussion tonight over dinner with friends talking about muslims in denmark, muslim immigrants, and danish culture.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProof of bona fide marriage--children in common enough?
Yes, that was me too, brought a bunch of evidence with me to the Embassy and she never asked for it:) We had only been married a few months then, but I suppose it's because it's a low-fraud country as you say. And we married in Sweden.

By the way, love your sling! Had a few myself when the kids were small(er).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProof of bona fide marriage--children in common enough?
Thanks.

We have two kids several years apart, so it should prove a little more than just a one nighter:). But yes, we do have bank accounts, I forgot about that one. And hopefully we can get copies of old leases. Do you think it's important that documents are recent? I don't like the idea of having to translate our Swedish documents. We've lived for the most part in the US anyhow, just not the past two years.

I was also thinking that in a case like ours, where we've been married for 14 years already, is different.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProof of bona fide marriage--children in common enough?
We've been married for 14 years, I've previously lived in the US on a spousal visa (11 years) and we have two children in common. I'm wondering if I should include evidence of co-mingling of financial resources, or if the birth certs with both our names will suffice. In my Swedish marriage certificate there's also proof of residing together in Sweden on two different occasions in the past.

If not, the only proof of living together is apartment leases (no joint ownership). Should I then supply all leases we've had for the past 14 years, or for how far back is necessary? I haven't saved any copies of previous leases, but can see if I can get from landlords. The easiest for us would be to include a lease from our last US residence (2007-2009). For the past two years we've lived at 3 diff addresses in Sweden, all stated on the G-325 form. Should I supply these leases as well? They would have to be translated, so rather not if not necessary.

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Question D-2
I've had a petition filed by my husband before, 14 years ago, but I can't remember at what location it was filed. Is there any way I can find this out? My husband lived in MN at the time. I can't recall the date either, only that it was sometime between May and July of 1998. And when they ask for 'result', do they mean 'approved' or 'denied'?

Thanks.

I should add I don't have any paperwork saved.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFile tax return while abroad?
Thanks guys. I'm still a bit confused. The benefit he received is considered earned income here in Sweden. The amount a person gets depends on his previous salary before taking parental leave. It's based on taxes paid. Sort of like unemployment benefits, maybe? It was on his Swedish tax return and I can only imagine it's considered income in the US too. I know the US govt doesn't hand out these sort of benefits, but some employers do I believe, and in such a case wouldn't it be seen as earned income?

Obviously, he won't need to pay US taxes on it as he wasn't a US resident during that time, but for immigration purposes it might be different. Perhaps he should speak to some other tax pro. He had his 2010 done at H n R couple of weeks ago since he did work the first part of that year in the US. We're not at the NVC stage yet, just filing the I-130 but want to be prepared so there's no delay.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFile tax return while abroad?
My husband didn't work during 2011 while living in Sweden, but he did receive parental leave cash from the government (a basic amount given to people who haven't previously worked in Sweden), the equivalent of 4000 dollars. This is taxable income in Sweden, yet when my husband asked both IRS and a tax professional, he was told he didn't have to file a tax return for that year. I'm wondering if he should file one anyways, for I-864 purposes?

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMisspelling of names on bank statement
I read in the Stupid RFE thread that someone got one from having her name misspelled on some document, so when I received my Swedish bank statement and noticed the teller had used an extra s (we have a -son last name) I was a little worried. I'm wondering if this will be an issue, or if misspelling is more of a concern in legal documents (I think the above referenced RFE was a police certificate). I'd hate to order another copy--just want to get this last piece of document sent off so we can get the I-130 in!

Also, the mail consists of one statement in English and another one in Swedish. Should the Swedish statement be included? Our names are correctly spelled on that one.

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone visit the US for a full 3 months during processing?
Thanks both of you for sharing your experiences--I'm hopeful now that we can go!

I have a good history also of always returning. Prior to living there permanently I visited a few times for a full three months and always returned on time. Not sure if they keep such old records (15 years), but one can always hope. First time I went there I got pulled in and was questioned for well over an hour! I was told later that the Minneapolis POE is much more difficult, so I might try and get a flight to Chicago instead.

What exactly do you mean by school schedule? Like a weekly schedule for the different classes? I looked at my program's site and I couldn't see anything that looked like it, but perhaps I can ask.

Thanks!
