I can't believe it! I just checked my case status and it says:
On March 14, 2013, we transferred this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) to another office for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

What the hell are they transferring it after six months??? It has already been transferred from California to Missouri, from Missouri to New York, so I wonder where have they transferred it now???!!! Maybe to Alaska :bonk:

Could it be a mistake? Maybe they wanted to say on March 14, 2013 we approved your petition

Looks like the info that i got the other day from USCIS customer care saying that CSC is processing SEP 14th application is correct (MAY BE)... lets wait and see. You have bother I-130 and I-129F petitions? i don't understand..

I already placed an e-request a few days ago, but got no answer yet. I don't know if it will speed it up, but I'm trying everything... My husband scheduled an infopass at NYC office for the 26th, maybe he will find out something... He also contacted the senator and congressman, although they have been useless so far...

Kool, well i tried to put in the e-request but the lady in customer support said "i was within the timeline" and cannot put the request yet. Even i don't feel that e-request would help, at the max we might get another notice to wait for 30-60 days more right..

Ok, today is officially six months since our NOA1 and still no sign of NOA2  People from October, November, December and even January are already getting approved... Someone should really introduce some order at USCIS because it's just not fair

DVV, have you managed to find out which local office your case has been transferred to? I guess it is in Tampa, because you live in Florida and they usually transfer it to the place of residence of the petitioner. Although you never know with these guys :bonk:

Izabela, r u planning to put in an e-request today?, i think you can do it as u passed 180 days limit. Do you think putting an e-request will speedup the process?. I did not call them again bcz they asked me to call after 180 days which is on monday. According to the zip code my local USCIS office is Oakland Park, but not sure if the file is sent there, Will have to wait until monday :(

Since your petition is no longer at CSC, I don't see why you'd care. CSC finish the rest of the August petitions months ago and they've been given no more since, so they can't be processing any past August 15th, since they didn't receive any past then.

I think you totally got it wrong. I think the date that we were told was the average date that the local offices where processing of the petitions that they got from CSC. Let assume what you are saying is correct, then in that case last time when we called we were told that CSC is processing Sep 1st week petitions by Teir2 ISO. So which one is correct now?

Is there any way to find out what date a particular field office is currently processing? Our case is at NYC field office, NOA 1 of September 14 :crying:

Hey Izabela, quick question. How did you know that ur petition is in NYC field office?, i ask this because when i asked the Tier2 ISO, they said they do not know that info.

woooww.. did anyone in here ever got correct info from USCIS customer care?, the last time(a week back) when we spoke to Tier 2 ISO, they said CSC is processing Sep 1st week petitions and yesterday's another Tier 2 ISO says CSC is processing Aug 2nd week petitions. WHAT!!!!!... i really think its waste of time to call them, one would never get correct info from them. Whats wrong with them?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2013

DVV, there is a thread entitled 'I 864 new version' in which a bunch of VJers are reporting the same problem. It seems that The AOS packages are being delayed due to the new version which was released mid April but which the NVC hasn t got any instructions on how to review it.
Some were confirmed that the NVC had started reviewing them yesterday, however my jusband was told yesterday too they our AOSs were still on hold due to that reason...
I am going to call everyday to get an update on the issue.

Thanks, looks like our AOS packets reached NVC on same day 05/03. Plz keep me posted if u have any update, i would do the same.

That's so common we refer to it as a "false checklist". If you are sure (because you got a tracking number, for instance) that your AOS packet made it to the NVC, then it is being processed separately and you can safely ignore the checklist. I agree that calling back in one week if you don't hear something by then (and I think you will) is realistic.

Sure, thanks.

we recieved a checklist in email from NVC today saying that they recieved our packet IV documents, but are still waiting for AOS documents, which we submitted a week earlier than packet IV. We called NVC immdly and the lady told us, As packet IV and AOS are reviewed by two different ppl, it might have been send by mistake, However she asked us to wait until June 1st and call back if they do not hear anything abt AOS documents review until then. Is this common?....

Nope ignore the ds-260. That is the online form version of the ds-230 but India does not utilize online forms.

Thanks,  we sent 2 passport size photos of beneficiary in Packet IV, is it 4 or 2 that we need to send?

We send our packet IV (DS 230 and other civil documents) to NVC yesterday. I just logged into to online payment portal and saw that Both our payments were in PAID status. When i checked Packet IV processing Instruction, found something abt DS 260. I am a bit confused here, do we need to file DS 260 also? Can someone please help me out with that.. I did go through the instruction but really confused.

And also i see lot of ppl here are talking abt sending 4 passport sized photos in Packet IV,  we send 2 of beneficiary... is it 4 or 2? i saw the documents list in the link " how Do I bring my spouse".. and it was mentioned 2 in there...

I was thinking of requesting for expedite processing of our case as our 1st anniversary is very near. Request for Expedite processing showing the 1st anniversary reason would work?. Our I-130 petition was approved after 6 1/2 months which is 1 1/2 month more than the normal USCIS processing time. Will these two reasons hold good enough?. We sent our AOS and packet IV documents to NVC this week and was wondering if we could request for expedite processing now?. Thanks for ur response.

That email is telling you you can log onto the payment portal and pay the IV bill. It doesn't have anything to do with sending the IV package. The bill needs to be paid first, before sending the package.

The status on that site doesn't seem to indicate much. But, since they've started the review, I would suggest calling up every single day, maybe even twice a day, as the review should be finished soon.

They're not referring to the payment portal. It's another site you can check, but the statuses don't seem to be very indicative of anything while at NVC. Here's the link: https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx

Thanks, did pay the bill today, will be sending the documents 2mrw..:)

Hi,

Yesterday we recieved Email from NVC with an attached document stating - Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee Bill Invoice with $230.00. Is this packet IV bill? Can i pay this and send my husbands birth certificate, PCC and our marriage certificate, DS-230 immdly? or is this something else?. The reason i ask is, there is nothing mentioned asking to send these documents in that attached document.

We did send out AOS document last week.

Thanks,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion regarding NVC - Packet IV
Hi All,

I would like to thanks everyone for sharing their experience for newbies like me. I filed I-130 petition for my Spouse abroad(India) and got NOA1 on Sep 17th 2012 from CSC. We just crossed out 1st day after the 5 month process time of CSC. During my past couple of calls to USCIS, i was told that my petition was sent to Miami field office( never got any notice of it). I am hoping that we would get NOA2 soon.

While waiting for NOA2, i wanted to get all the docs required for NVC processing. I came across this link http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut in the forum which has all the details. My only question was, I saw that once my spouse sends DS3032 email and i pay the AOS and IV fee, we can send the AOS and packet IV.

My question is, the packet IV along with DS-230 signed by Beneficiary, has to be included with ORIGINAL docs such as my beneficiary's birth ceriticate, ORIGINAL marriage certificate etc. I was wondering,

1.these documents are to be sent to NVC by my spouse who is in India?
or
2.he has to show them while he is attending his interview at US consulate in India.
or
3.I have to get all these original documents from him and submit them to NVC and they will send the documents to the US embassy in India after interview is scheduled?

I am confused here, because When i saw in Mumbai Consulate website, i see a packet IV document where the consulate has sends a checklist to the beneficiary which has to be filled and sent to consulate and they will schedule an interview. That checklist is same as the documents mentioned in Packet IV. attached are the two documents. I would really appreciate your help.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal Documents for NVC for CR 1 visa

Hello All,

I am being told by the lawyer that we would need to submit original documents to the NVC.. I -130 was approved with copies of the documents. There is only one original each of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate and Police Clearance. I am not comfortable giving the NVC our only originals. Besides my spouse would need those for the interview. This requirement doesn't sound consistent with the rest of the process.

Any advice?

Thanks

KoolBreez

Thanks correct, you need to submit the originals to NVC, and when ur file is being sent to US embassy for interview, all these docs will be sent over, and they will give it back to you after your interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresShipping AOS packet before fee shows as "paid"

Is it OK to ship the AOS packet before it shows as "paid" on the portal? I paid the fees on 4/1 and the transaction shows in my bank account on 4/2 but the website still has it under process.

I ended up shipping the AOS packet yesterday (4/3) with the cover letter printed from the payment portal. Hope it's not an issue.

I thought u have to print the fee-receipt or something and send that with ur AOS package, which you will see after you will see the status as PAID online, isn't that right? I am not sure as i am not at NVC state yet, but thats what i rem'ber from my past forum readings.. check it out..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Clearance & Passport Clearance Certificate- INDIA

Please can someone tell me the difference between the 2 certificates? The reason i ask is because, I asked around in India and Nobody has a clue(out of the people i asked) about the Passport Clearance Certificate.

When I ask around people, the only thing they heard of is the Police Clearance Certificate.

Please can some let me know:
1.Whats the difference between the 2 PCC's?
2.Whats the process around getting them and Where can i get it from?

I appreciate yall's response.

Thanks,
Chris

Longtime back, to get police clearance certificate, one had to go to their nearest police station and apply for it. Now everything has changed. You have to go to Passport office or passort seva center and apply for PCC ( Police clearance certificate), and they will give it to you immediately if your case is clean. I think lot of ppl misunderstand PCC for PASSPORT Clearance certificate, but its actually Police clearance certificate. And also i have seen in US consulate website, that they will only accept PCC issued by passport office not any police station. I did apply it and got it in hand the same day.. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDelay after submitting passport

Hey there
firstly,i wud like to thank visajourney for helping us all in difficult times and long uncertain waits.
my wife is the petitioner.

I was interviewed for a CR1 visa on the 8th of march 2013 at the MUMBAI consulate , the interview was smooth and i had all the required documents, towards the end i was given a white 221 g which stated that i was put under administrative processing, which i should have expected.my passport was returned to me.

on the 28th of march 2013,20 days after the interview i got an email stating that i had a document delivered at the local VFS center,i live at hyderabad.
upon collection the document dated 25th march,it stated that my 221 g administrative processing was now COMPLETE and i needed to submit my passport to proceed the case further, which i did on the same day.

now comes the part which i am unsure about and need u guys help with.

the ceac status tracker still shows my case as being under administrative processing,it was updated twice on the 1st of april and then on the 3rd of april 2013,both times the status being shows as administrative processing.

1. can a case be put under administrative processing again after submission of passport?
2. how long does it take for a status to change upon successful delivery of passport as was done in my case.
3. has anyone experienced a secondary delay after completion of administrative processing and delivery of passport to the embassy/consulate.

Hey, You said you should have expected the Adminstrative processing?, can you tell us the reason why did u get 221g?

US Citizenship General Discussionus citizenship test.

There are 100 possible questions.  You can find them pinned in the thread at the top of this forum.  Your wife will be asked between 6 to 10 questions.  If she gets the first 6 right, that is 60% and considered a pass so they will not ask any more questions.  If she gets any wrong, she will be asked up to 10 questions and is supposed to get 6 of them right.

If she has studied and knows the answers, the questions are easy.  If she hasn't studied, then she may or may not know the answers and the questions will be harder.  Read over the questions for yourself and you will get an understanding of what is involved.  They ask about general US history, society and the structure of the US government, along with the names of your current political representatives.  It 'shouldn't' be difficult, but again, it depends on how much studying she does.

There are tools she can use to help her study - apps for electronic devices; flash cards, web-sites - and when she goes for her biometrics appointment they will give her a little booklet about the test questions, and there will be a CD inside that can also help her study.

The interviews tend to last about 10 to 15 minutes in total and that includes the test.  The interviewer sits across a regular office desk from the applicant and asks the test questions as part of the interview itself.  Your wife will also be asked to read one of the test questions aloud and then to write the answer of another of the test questions (it will be in front of her) to make sure she knows English.

I hope this helps.  Good luck to her smile.png .

beside writing one answer, is the citizenship test is only oral ?

If I prepare with the 100 possible questions posted on this site, would that be enough to pass the test?

What else can I use to prepare, I would like to know specific tools

Yeah i have white latino friends and they have hispanic last name, is nothinf new to me, and it doesnt mean anything, latino is not a race

I just want an american last name, unfortunatly some ignorant people think that changing your name to an american, then it means that you are trying to be white, as if americans were the only white people in the world and as if white people were the only ones with english name

I already have an english name anyway, americans call me by my english name orlando and obviously have no problem pronounce it, does that im less latino to them? does that mean im less latino because i dont have a name like juan or pedro? No lmao

US Citizenship General DiscussionCan I change my last name to a celebrity ?

Are you sure you don't simply have an inferiority complex about being Hispanic? Cause it sure sounds like it. I just hope you don't have a stereotypically Hispanic look, because it would be silly for you to have an all American name to go along with it. whistling.gif

I knew someone would say something like this, black people have names like smith (will smith?), johnson, robinson, miller, yet they are 100 millions times darker than I am. There are also many people who are mixed (not white), yet they have an american last name, due to having a white or black american father. I'm not fully white, but I have more european features than native american

since when having an american name, means being white ?

I have met several hispanic looking people, who have american last names, even in my own country Peru. I have also met mixed looking people (not white at all, even less european looking than I am) yet they have american last names

Isn't that the reason why they offer the option to change your name? in fact, in the naturalizarion n-400 guide, says that the option to change your name is offered for people who want to adopt a more americanized name
