US Citizenship General Discussion	Can I change my last name to a celebrity ?	Are you sure you don't simply have an inferiority complex about being Hispanic? Cause it sure sounds like it. I just hope you don't have a stereotypically Hispanic look, because it would be silly for you to have an all American name to go along with it.     I knew someone would say something like this, black people have names like smith (will smith?), johnson, robinson, miller, yet they are 100 millions times darker than I am. There are also many people who are mixed (not white), yet they have an american last name, due to having a white or black american father. I'm not fully white, but I have more european features than native american   since when having an american name, means being white ?   I have met several hispanic looking people, who have american last names, even in my own country Peru. I have also met mixed looking people (not white at all, even less european looking than I am) yet they have american last names   Isn't that the reason why they offer the option to change your name? in fact, in the naturalizarion n-400 guide, says that the option to change your name is offered for people who want to adopt a more americanized name Edited by Rufian, 11 August 2013 - 01:32 PM. That you like hearing. That when you think of someone calling you "Mr. X" you don't mind it. Think about future kids and if you'd like to be the "Miller family" or the "Evans family". I'd also try and think of people you know, people you work with, and make sure you don't accidentally choose their last name... that could get weird   Good luck with your choices!   **Edit - Also, check your initials. If you want to be Mr. Bloom then that is your choice. I personally don't think it's a good last name, I could only imagine that it would get incredibly old, but again, your choice. Also, to be honest if I met you and found out (however I found out) that you deliberately changed your name to a "celebrity's" name I would think you were a bit of an attention seeker and hoping to garner some popularity by having the same name. i would think it could hamper future life choices in some way.   Anyway no, it's not illegal unless, as others said, your intent was to defraud. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 August 2013 Filers	do we need to send a copy of our tax transcript, or the original tax transcript?   I have the original which I ordered back in 2011, my latest tax is from 2010 (been unemployed since then), I'm ordering it again just in case   Anyway, I cannot file right now, but next month, I will be receiving some money, and I will send my application   So, basically all you need to send is   Completed N-400 form G-1145(E-Notification of Application) A check for $680 toward application fee ($595) and biometric service fee ($85) Two recent photographs of me, each with my name and Alien number printed on the back A copy of both sides of my permanent resident card A copy of my driver?s license A copy of my driving record   I have pretty much all of that, expect the money, next month   Is it really necessary to send your driving record? India	Question Regarding Police Certificate	Hi All, I was preparing all the docs required for NVC/visa interview and stuck with Police Certificate (PC). I got my Police Certificate from Local area passport office, but one of my friend told me that i ALSO need another police certificate from POLICE COMMISSIONER ( HEAD OF POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE STATE). India	Visit US while CR1 / IR1 visa in progress?	Even i had the same doubt and did some research before, and came to know ( from one of other forums ) that even though you get the visiting visa my embassy, they might stop you in port of entry. India	Question	My wife got her interview in may. I have a question does she need to change her passport or anything she has fnu or does it take a long process in india. Hey, I had to change my passport before i apply for PPC. I was told to update my passport with Married status and Spouse name in it, to reflect that in PCC by passport officer. But when i got my PCC later i saw there is nothing mentioned abt my martial status in PCC. But its always better to get the passport update. I applied the update in Taathkal service ( a bit more fee), so i got it in 4 working days, But that in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	Mumbai Consulate Sep Intw Dates posted -- missing few ??	hi DVV   am sorry to be irritating.. . did u try creating a profile? wen is ur intrvw?   Hey Preethy,   Here is a work around which i found to login and update the profile.   Few weeks ago i sent an email to Ustraveldocs customer care regarding a doubt abt PCC, i got an auto response to that email with subjectline "Your US Travel Documents Customer Portal username and password is enclosed" , which had my username and temporary pwd in it. I just rem'bered that and tried to use it to login and it worked. It asked me to update my password later i updated my profile info with passport details, address etc and got the confirmation too which was asked to be present at the interivew. The thing is, i wanted to see if the passport could be delivered to home address, but they only have the PICKUP option ( read in some posts that we need to pay money at the embassy after interview if we want it to be delivered to home, could be the case).   I hope this helps you, try to send an email to support-india@ustraveldocs.com and see if you get the username and pwd. feel free to ask me any questions you have. My interivew is on sep 3rd at 11:00 AM, i am not sure when exactly we have to be there, nothing is mentioned in the interview letter either. I was planning to go an hour before the interivew time.. may be 10:00 ish.. Just used the visajourney method of finding out whether our NVC packet (with orginal documents) had reached the embassy or not. It looks like it just got to the Mumbai Consulate today (or tomorrow morning if DHL didnt deliver it today). They should update interview dates once all the September interviewee documents come in   Could you please let me know how to check the shipping status of our documents? Panicked a bit, but I think they are going to update the list. The list seems too short compared to the August list or even the July list.   I asked my wife to contact the embassy and confirm with them just in case. Will let you guys know if I hear of an update. All of us just want this last leg of the journey to be smooth, so I can understand the alarm bells going off every time something is out of order. Bienvenida al foro!   Bueno, esos pasos que escribiste están bien hasta la C del número 2, eso es lo que tienes que hacer para estar pendiente de tu caso y saber cuando llegue a la embajada. El paso 3 y lo demás YA NO SE HACE, eso se hacía antes, ya no hay que enviar documentos a la Embajada, sino que tienes que alistarlos para llevarlos tú misma el día de la entrevista. Después de que tu caso llegue a la Embajada ellos te van a enviar un correo con las instrucciones que debes seguir, es importante que las recibas de ellos, pero yo te voy a pegar el link acá, para que las vayas revisando http://photos.state....ueteNov2012.pdf   Lo que puedes hacer para ganar tiempo es programar tu cita tan pronto tengas el número del BGT porque el calendario de citas puede estar lleno por un mes completo o más.   Revisa las instrucciones que te mostré y si tienes alguna duda con gusto te colaboramos Hola Ali & Chris. Yo estoy en proceso de visa K1 pero todo lo ha hecho mi abogado, no tengo idea de que se trata este proceso, pero una amiga me dijo que entrara aqui y confirmara unos datos. Yo tube un RFE y despues de enviar la informacion que pidieron, por fin aprobaron mi caso. ahora quiero saber si estos documentos del atajo los puedo enviar asi como estan aqui o hay cambios ya que mi amiga presento su visa K1 3 o 4 anos atras. Muchas Gracias y aprecio su ayuda.   Monica    1. Una vez que su petición I-129F haya sido aprobada (NOA2), su caso será remitido al Centro Nacional de Visas. Normalmente se demora entre 1 a 2 semanas para que llegue desde el CSC/VSC al CNV. 2. Empiece a llamar al CNV al 603-334-0700.todos los días una semana después que su I-129F haya sido aprobada. Necesitará hablar con una operadora para recibir información sobre su caso ya que el sistema automatizado del CNV no maneja visas K1. Dele a la operadora su # de recibo y ella le dejará saber el estado de su caso, si no lo han recibido, si lo han recibido, o si ya lo han enviado a la embajada en Bogotá. Una vez que el CNV reciba su caso, le dará un nuevo # que empieza con BGTXXXXXXXXXX. A. Si no lo han recibido: Siga llamando hasta que lo reciban. No preste atención al mensaje que dice que se demorará 4 semanas para ellos recibirlo. B. Si su caso ha sido recibido: Pregúnteles cuándo lo recibieron y si lo remitieron a la embajada. Si han recibido su caso pero no lo han remitido, espere entre 2-3 días desde el día en que el CNV lo recibió para llamar y preguntarles de nuevo. Si lo han remitido, por lo general la mayoría de los casos son enviados 2 días después de que el CNV los recibe. C. Una vez que su caso haya salido del CNV hacia Bogotá, ud. puede ahora calcular cuándo debe de llegar a la embajada vía DHL. Nuestro caso llegó en sólo 2 días, pero lo normal es 3 días hábiles. Por ejemplo, si su caso salió un lunes, deberá de llegar a Bogotá a más tardar el jueves. 3. Ahora que su caso está en Bogotá. NO espere a que la embajada le envíe el paquete 3 a su novia/o. Espere 2 días hábiles para usar el siguiente atajo. Usando el ejemplo de los días en la sección 2C: Si su caso llegó el jueves, es mejor usar el atajo el siguiente lunes. La razón por la que es mejor esperar 2 días es para darle tiempo a la embajada de poner su información en el sistema. También puede llamar al CNV y ellos le dejan saber si la embajada ha recibido su caso. ATAJO: Mande el pqt 3 a la embajada por email. Esto le ahorrará por lo menos 2 ó más semanas......No hay necesidad de esperara que llegue el paquete 3. Deben bajar los documentos directamente de la pagina de la embajada. Llenen los formularios necesario y envienlos por email a la embajada. Correo electrónico:  IVBogota@state.gov     En la pagina 4 del paquete 3 encontraran su formulario DS-2100 que es el otro documento que deben enviar. http://spanish.bogot...sak17abr082.pdf dentro de los documentos que tienen que enviar se encuantra el DS-230, este es el link de este documento en espanol actualizado. http://www.state.gov...ation/81807.pdf Lo que se debe enviar via email a la embajada (paquete 3) es lo siguiente.... 1. USTED DEBE TENER el numero de caso BGTXXXXXXXX como referencia 2. Copia del pasaporte de la fiance O del fiance. 3. DS230 parte 1, que son paginas 1 y 2. 4. DS-2100. Se requiere un formato DS-2100 por petición y Se requiere un DS-230 por cada solicitante. Usted debe diligenciar todos los formatos. Si hay alguna pregunta que no se ajuste a su caso, escriba ?No es aplicable.? No deje preguntas en blanco. La documentación incompleta o imprecisa retrasará el proceso de la visa. Despues de enviar el Pqt 3, esperar mas o menos 4 o 5 dias y llamar DOS 202-663-1225... ellos sabran para cuando esta tu cita programada antes q la embajada lo publique....    Espero me ayuden muchas gracias.....
