I think its ridiculous that they are even glimpsing at November files before they even touch  past Oct. 22nd apps.

There seems to be a lone ranger at NSC that approves a few files within the 5 month period to make the processing time numbers "look real".

Ahem... hurry up USCIS.

Lets set the User-Agent to: "Hurry Up"   Hopefully someone will read the logs and get a clue!

Any guesses on the lack of approvals for the past few days.

There were approvals. We just happen to be a very small sample to see any results. Just look at some adjacent receipt numbers.

So like others here, i've taken to checking my case number on the USCIS website regularly, as well as those case numbers around me. I kind of got sick and tired of manuallly doing this, so I created a script to do it for me. :clock:  What else am I going to do with my time while waiting for USCIS to get into gear?

For those technically minded I will have the code below, so you can modify it and run it yourself.

The output of the script looks like this (by the way that is just an example case number i'm using):

I really appreciate you writing this script. As a note, I also noticed that the receipt numbers seem to be issued in form order I130,I131. So once you hit a non I130, you can stop.

I wonder if the slowdown has to do with the H1B frenzy. The 2014 season opened on 4/1 and reached the 65K cap on 4/8.

My other half just spoke to the most unhelpful tier 2 and was told that it takes 12 months for i-130's, eventhough the website says 5months. According to this officer the numbers on the website means nothing as they aren't accurate and that I(we) should be prepared to wait another 7months.

This is strange. I know that attorneys use the published data to get writ's of mandamus. They show up in court with the published data and the judge forces USCIS to honor it. I'm wondering if this is a new benefit USCIS is extending to fellow attorneys so that they can make more money.

I believe they are processing things out of order to shut up half of the people. Given that it is election year if everyone is angry, it doesn't help the incumbents. However if half of the people are unhappy, things look a little better for the incumbents. By sending a few adjudicators on a blitzkrieg raises the hopes of everyone who filed in the months after.

Thanks everyone :D

Is it normal for NSC to mail notices out a day later? The case two digits ahead of mine has literally just changed to RFE status, also dated yesterday...

First of all, Congratulations!!!

Never thought about checking neighboring cases. The number prior to ours was sent to NVC yesterday (4/7).

The rest in a two digit neighborhood are still on initial review

Yeah, I agree. I work in an office now, and when we get backlogged, we grab what we can and process it :P but I don't process anything this important that can cause real distress if it isn't done correctly/at all. USCIS should be more careful.

Being the government, it must be something really retarded. SOmething like the guy who hands out the files to the adjudicators is on vacation so they are picking the first one they can find.

Maybe our files are buried under a 5 story stack of DACAs and they are processing them in the order they dig them out.

Or probably someone dropped all the files on the floor and now they're trying to figure out which papers belong to what file.

Does everyone else get ARN? Im wondering why I dont have one.

The ARN is known as the A number and it's the number that will appear on the green card. I suspect that on the NOA-2  (i-797c) it would appear in the upper right hand corner below Notice Date in the USCIS Alien Number box. Can you confirm there is a number there (just don't disclose it to us)? Just because you didn't get the ARN change notification doesn't mean you don't have one. smile.png

What is my Alien Registration Number, and why would it be changed and it doesnt change for other people?

(I know it does for some but why not everyone)

Thank you

The Alien Registration Number or USCIS Alien Number is the number USCIS assigns to an immigrant. It is also known as the A number and it will appear on your Green Card once you get it. This number is the ID to be used for any business done with USCIS in the future, including applying for citizenship. The change notification means that they assigned you this number and that they are working on your case. Every service center seems to do things differently and it appears only Nebraska bothers to notify A number assignment. Generally it has been a sign of an approval or RFE coming soon.

Correction. September is in the 6 to 7 month range. And the fastest case was 9 days short of 6 months. My bad sad.png

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2013 I-130 Filers

Well NSC is supposedly at 5 months! Please someone else double check I am seeing it right. I can only hope the stats will translate into reality!!

From what I see from the September sheet, they are in the 5 to 6 month range. One case was approved yesterday 9 days short of the 5 month target. But of course, most of those in September appear to have no activity. I sometimes wonder if they are approving easy ones as a teaser to keep us on the edge of our seats.

They seem to be very inconsistent. Some cases they go out of the way to notify the A number change/assignment, and in others they simply get approved. They seem to making more progress on the late september ones than the early ones. Go figure!

The good news is that the assigned an A number to an october filer. It will be very encouraging if we get an october filer approval within the next two weeks.

Bomzy4ever,

USCIS is referring to the beneficiary's ARN. I noticed you are also at NSC, so this is good news for all of us at NSC. If you read my latest post, september had an approval today which occurred 10 days after the change of ARN notice. Of course, it may also imply that you may be getting and RFE, however I think that NSC is going for the low hanging fruit.

There was another NSC september approval today smile.png . It took ten days from the ARN change notice to approval. It this is any indicator, there should be a couple more approvals for september this week. Hopefully we will start seen October ARN change notices in two or three weeks!!!

There are only 2 approvals (out of 30) from NSC from the Sept group so far.  ARN means nothing.  It's not NOA2.  It only happens to people who got transferred to NSC.  It could be a Nebraska specific system error.  Their office seems to be messed up.  headbonk.gif

Although NSC seems to be speeding up a little bit, it's still the slowest service center since they're still processing some applications of May filers.  I really hope they get their act together sooner.  helpsmilie.gif

ARN's are a good thing believe it or not. It means that they assigned an A number. From what I understand, it means than the case is been adjudicated -- Someone finally is responsable to process it. It implies that you may be getting an approval or RFE soon. We should add a column to the spreadsheet with ARN dates. It would be interesting to track the time between the issuing of the ARN and approval for the Nebraska folks.

Hello guys! Does anyone knows about the changing of alien number? What it's that about?
On March 18, 2014, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance. Can someone help me there?

Means that they are working on your case and you may get an approval or RFE soon.

Wire her the money from your bank account to hers (known as SWIFT). Most banks charge a flat rate of $40 per wire. Drop by your bank and ask them how to do it. You can also set it up for recurring wires.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFree to Remarry - Texas Divorce Definition Help?

Yes, I am aware of the possible challenge of the divorce by Ex spouse and that possibly voiding it. I stated I am PLANNING to marry because i am at this time in the planning stages. I can not GET married because my I-129F is a long way away from being approved with a visa in hand, and my fiancee in country to actually GET married.

No I am not married, but I don't see how they verbage of "planning" or "getting" married affects my dilemma.

Please Explain?

Lets suppose (as an example) you get married on day 31, it meant that most likely you planned to marry beforehand. From how I understand it, it is marrying in the 30 day period that gets you in trouble, not planning. You didn't marry yet so it really doesn't matter. You didn't do anything wrong. And in a couple of days, this is going to be a non-issue. Wouldn't lose my sleep over this.

If USCIS asks anything about this (I really doubt) you can claim that there is nothing in Texas law that impedes you from planning to marry.

fatblackcatMaleBrazil2014-03-04 15:45:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFree to Remarry - Texas Divorce Definition Help?

The 30 day waiting period in Texas is in the event one of the parties decides to re-open the case. A marriage performed in Texas within that period of time is voidable, if the any party (your ex) decides to challenge it. So it is recommended to wait it out. There is also the possibility to have the judge waive the 30 day waiting period... didn't your attorney tell you that?

You are filing a K-1, so obviously you are not married. There is a big difference between getting married and planning to marry.
