US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134
i KNOW this has been asked somewhere before but for the life of me can't find the post. so can someone please tell me so that i'm 100% sure on this

question 11 on the I-134 form
do you intend to make specific contributions......

i want to say that the other post said to check the [do not intend] box, but it just seems odd to me.
also, if we're using a co-sponsor does she have to check do not intend or intend as well.

thanks in advance, i keep second guessing myself

does my co-sponsor have to give her w2s from the past 3 years and her most recent tax return? or are the w2s fine? if she needs her most recent tax return does she have to give the whole booklet? what is it suposed to look like?

oh alright.i was confused about the re-entry, the heat must be getting to me today.
i believe in 1996 they came out with a replacement but i don't know if marta ever got the letter. Her English probably wasn't good enough to completely understand what they were asking unfortunately. the online brochure said " you MAY have delays re entering the U.S" they said she'll have to go into secondary to get finger printed.

thank you payxibka for your expertise.

i was going through some of her papers. she has this strange booklet called a reentry permit, it has a biography page and picture just like a passport and the cover is white. she used it when she visited Europe. I've never heard of or seen such a thing. it was interesting. too bad it expired in 1986 lol

thanks everyone.

yeah, she can get into Canada with just her GC, i get that. Its returning to the U.S that she's worried about. she has no valid passport, with the new more strict border crossing laws should she even chance leaving with just her old version greencard as proof of LPR status.

getting pulled into secondary for finger printing and whatnot is fine she said but she doesn't want to be forced to apply for anything further be it a new Green card with an expiry date or naturalization because at her age she just doesn't care enough to.

hmm i suppose she could do that. i wonder where the consulate is and if she'd have to go there.

what about filing an I-131 re entry permit? i know that's expensive but i'm just exploring options for them. also they say that 14-79 needs a biometric appointment. i would assume because she;s 90 the bio appt would be waved?

I think Marta's daughter was worried about her having to take any test. at 90 years old she has Alzheimer and wouldn't know whats what. i'm wondering what would happen if she just crossed into Canada with her daughter and son in law, stayed for a few days then came back. wonder how much trouble they would give her, i mean, she's 90!

i thought i would ask here before scouring the internet for info.

my neighbor's mother , Marta is Lithuanian. She came to the united states in 1956 ( that's the date on her GC) she is in her 90s now and would like to visit her cousins who immigrated to Canada at about the same time she came to America. Her family from Europe is also making their way to Canada for a reunion and she would like to see them all before her time is up.

the situation is that she has never applied for citizenship, since she is not a citizen she cannot apply for a passport. (she doesn't have a passport from her home country.)
i suppose i would like these few questions answered.

1- does a Green Card from WAY back then even expire? she has never renewed it and there is no written expiration date on it. her daughter is afraid that if it is indeed expired that she will not be able to return to the U.S

2- Since she has been here for such a long time, and i think the rules were way different back then, is she automatically considered naturalized?

Marta's daughter doesn't know where to start looking for information about this kind of thing. her and her sisters applied for citizenship years ago. now she wishes her mother had too.

any advice, links or info is certainly appreciated.

thank you

Canadapolice certificate
hello Canadians

i was thinking of getting my police check done early. My fiance and i are doing the K-1 and hopefully will be getting our our NOA2 soon. i was looking at the RCMP website about criminal record checks because i will need one for the interview i assume, and it says they require you to be finger printed and whatnot. It also says that it takes an average of 120 to process ? i searched the forums and only one other topic came up and it was said that no criminal record no fingerprints.
so I'm confused. i have no criminal record will i still have to be fingerprinted and wait so long or am i looking at the wrong thing online?
when i go to my local RCMP field office what should i ask for? I'm in a remote city and i don't imagine they get asked a lot for checks for immigration purposes so i don't want to get it wrong.

thanks in advance

Missa

Go down to the police station on Brady street, go upstairs and tell the nice ladies your are a US visa applicant. They will give you the proper form to fill out, pay the 25.35 and you can pick up your canada wide police certificate thing in one week. I picked mine up today.

whoa weird!! i live in new sudbury by the mall. i was going to go to the RCMP dispatch on sparks. the site says 15$ cash but since you did it on Brady i'll go there too ^__^. i was worried that being a remote city no one would know what i was talking about at the RCMP dispatch.

you'll have to let me know when you get your interview date

thank you for all of your information. i will be patient

i was also wondering about the police certificate.
i was told to get a canada wide name check as i do not have a criminal record and that this is what immigration expects for the interview. is this correct?
is this enough? or will i eventually have to get the criminal record check that takes a long time ( i hard up to 6 months) and uses finger prints?

Canadawhat is to be done next.
so my fiance and i got our NOA2 for our k1 petition.

i'm wondering what to do next, i know i have to wait for them to send me a package.
i've heard of people calling NVC then calling the embassy to make an appointment.
should i be doing this too or is it a bunch of work for nothing? or do i just wait patiently for my package from Montreal?
i understand this package will have my medical letter which is needed to make a medical appointment , is this correct?

thank you for your input, i've been reading up on this but the approval came faster than expected

bonjour mes amis!

i have just received packet 3 and i got together all the info. just a question about printing off the confirmation page for the DS-160. does it matter if the picture is all blurred and black and white as long as the barcode is fine? the picture is fine online, i got the green check of approval, just wondering if the printout version matters at all.

CanadaCase Number for Medical?
did your American fiance get a letter from the NVC in the mail. he should have after your NOA2 saying the NVC was sending your approved petition to your consulate. anyway, if he did your case number will be on it. my fiance got the letter and about a week and a half later i got packet 3.

Montreal ones start with MTL , i can only assume Vancouver ones start with some form of abbreviation.

hope this helps

mine was much different than all of those that i've seen described. they sent me no forms but gave me a page with all the links to download em myself. and a bunch of pages describing everything they need, acceptable ID and what i need to bring to the interview. the checklist i think had my case number on it but i didn't make a copy dammit. i suppose i could take copies of our NOA2 and NVC letter right?

oh also when i schedule an appointment for my medical (i'll be doing this shortly for the toronto location) do i need to bring copies of my NOA(s) 1 and 2? the website said something about having a paper with my case number and A number. but there wasn't anything with those numbers on it in my package. just a letter saying i had to get a medical and gave me the addresses

thanks soooo much Saphire

Diphtheria toxoids
haemophilus influenza type B (hib)

polio
rotavirus
tetanus
varicella

Canadaanother question
uughh maybe i'm over thinking this but anyway i thought i'd ask this here since you guys know the healthcare system.

when Montreal sent my my 3rd package. on one of the info sheets it gave a huge list of vaccinations.

it says " panel physicians are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirement.....to receive each of the following vaccination."

a lot of which i don't have, some are not even listed on my yellow booklet.
like HEP A

anyway on the panel physician website http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Age6.htm
says they only check for tetanus, MMR, hep B, influenza and gardasil ( i won't need this cause of my age).

what did you guys do? did you have to make sure you got the 17 vaccinations that are listed on the info sheet from immigration or did you just make sure your basic vaccines ( listed on the physician website) were up to date?

i have no idea what i need here, i don't want to get all of these vaccines if they're not required, and if they are required are they covered by OHIP? ( not counting gardasil again because i don't need it)

the websites and guides on the official government websites are talking about the many different kinds of visas. this is what i did with package 3 for montreal and i confirmed with the department of state today that everything was ok the lady said my case was logged and queued into the appointment-date-o-tron. its been 17 days since i sent package 3 back she said if there was a problem i would have heard by now.
SO! with that said.

you need to complete the DS-230 ( send only part 1 keep part 2 for the interview), the checklist send those back right awa. also complete the online form (DS-160) (keep the confirmation page)

print the entire DS-160 completed form and keep it to bring to the interview just incase with the confirmation page of course.

have the rest of the DS forms asked for on your checklist ready for the interview (even though the website says you don't need them you probably will). all K1 applicants pay the visa fee at the interview

i hope this is what you were asking about, the new checklist is ridiculously confusing ( i had the same one as you as i said before)

ok so because i'm paranoid and need to know what is going on at all times i also called DOS. my case was logged, the lady was really nice and read back to me the forms that sent and she said everything looks great and that if there was a problem i would have heard back from the consulate.

i only sent the checklist + DS-230 and did the online form.

which makes me wonder why the hell did they change package 3 because it just confuses and gives everyone the impression that they want ALL of the forms back and apparently that is not the case

I sent back my DS 230, my checklist and filled out the form online. Everything else you bring to the interview.

I called the DOS today and asked if they had an interview date for me yet. They said no, so I asked if they logged my packet. They did. If there was something wrong I assume they would have contacted me

I'm pretty sure that's all you needed to send it to get your interview, like the packet says you bring everything else to the interview.

yay i heart you for calling ! its just strange that they would send such a different checklist. oh well, better to send too much than not enough i suppose. also, how do i call DOS? is it listed on the website somewhere?

Yeah really, wow, it looks like they've really changed things. If I'm reading this right it now seems like Montreal wants you to send back all the required forms (except the affidavit of support) in with your checklist before they schedule an interview.

Missa, did you e-mail the consulate? Let is know what they say! I guess someone needs to change the VJ consulate guide now.

i emailed the consulate last night. i think i may as well go ahead and send the rest of the forms anyway. what can it hurts right, obviously i'll keep copies incase they don't need em to bring to the interview. but i'll let everyone know what the deal is once they get back to me. i'd hate to think that everyone who sent back newer package 3s was wrong. maybe that's why no one has gotten an interview lately for k1 ;p

OK but this paper make no sens....

see me i got through the mail the checklist and a very described list...

On the first page it says

This office is processing the below-referenced fiance(e) visa case
in order to continue processing this case, please complete and return to this office at the above adress *blah blah blah*
List

from Ds;230 part 1
form ds-160
form ds-156k
form ds-156
and a receipt for ds-160

they didint send me any forms instead they gaved me website links to them...

so what do i do ?
also it says on checklist that i need my medical and my police certificate..
but then again... on the medical list they tell me to give them the date of my interview when i call them >.<
how am i suposed to get a medical before the interview before sending them that checklist and before knowing that interview date...

HeLp *glups*

my package looked like yours too, no forms just links. i did what the previous posters said to do. only send the checklist plus the DS-230 part 1 back in the mail but don't forget to do the DS-160 online form too and print out the confirmation sheet . i filled out and kept the rest of the forms + the ds -160 confirmation sheet + the medical 9 i don't know where yours is mine is in toronto and they just need our MTL case number) + the police cert for the interview as well as relationship evidence.

i hope this is indeed correct, if someone else can chime in and confirm i would feel better.

It's possible.

Please update us after you send in the DS-230 good.gif

I sent it in 2 weeks ago. You'd have to be crazy not to send in what the form says. I mean, I wouldn't take some goof at the consulates one sentence email over what it says on the form.

department of state told me the same thing. she said the consulate would basically throw what they didn't need out. by all means send everything, it won't hurt. this post was for the people like me who only sent in the 1 form plus checklist based on the old guides and freaked out after because we just found out that our package was different

hi, i said i would update on this so here it is,

many people are now getting packet 3 from Montreal and they are probably reading through the guides thinking ####### is this mine looks different? We've found out recently that Montreal has changed their packet to what appears to be more complicated.

They no longer send any forms, instead you'll get a list that looks like this ( thank you to another member for scanning this)

this letter makes it look like they want all the forms listed and this not NOT true. i have just gotten a response from the consulate
saying this
Return the DS-230 part 1 and checklist only by mail, the rest is brought at the time of the interview.

so, for future reference even though the page says to send everything back don't, seems that this is a cruel game they like to play to confuse people.
