I got luck two days ago of talking to USCIS operator and after 2 days they got approved our case!..you know guys try to talk in a manner to USCIS staff probably they will approve your case. Will pray for you guys that all of you will got approve soon.

it still depend on status of your papers.. Even if you talk to the operator as soft as you can... its not them who approve the papers. they are just the one who will check the status online and they will give the information to those who will call them...

but CONGRATS to you good.gif

I was told by the rep who took my call at the USCIS that they are only a call center. They aren't ACTUALLY the USCIS. Kind of like an answering service. That is why they sound so scripted. You can be nice or nasty... it doesn't matter. They only have access to one screen. If you are nice, you may get transferred to a customer service rep who can tell you more information but is still limited.

Best bet is to contact your congressman. That office can give you much more detailed information. good.gif

I agree, the waiting is too much - I see approvals all over I want mine too (everyone on here get to NVC!).

I cant even work right, I keep checking my email for CRIS and this site and another site and the wait continues and continues.

I'm right there with you. I can't help but check the sites to see who is getting approved.
I am locked out of the USCIS website from home and work so I can't even check. It tells me my username is incorrect but I don't now how that could be. I signed in at home yesterday around 3:30 pm and then tried again around 5:30 and it wouldn't let me in. I called the USCIS today to see if they received my fax that was sent on Sunday... No record they say. Called my attorney and he is in court all day.... I want to be able to call my husband in Costa Rica and tell him something good instead of saying " no, I didn't hear anything today"

you can't go by the automated systems. wacko.gif The operators at USCIS are useless. They are scripted. They have no information to offer. If you have been at the USCIS for 6 months, your best bet is to contact your local congressman's office and ask them to inquire about your case. That is more likely to get your case reviewed or at least it will bring some attention to it .
BTW.... My K-3 package arrived in Costa Rica AND I had an interview date and the NVC automated system still said they had no record of my case.

NVC is in NH. USCIS is in VT. You'd think it would take a day, two at most to send mail from NH to VT. My case was approved March 5th, 2009. It took 11 days for the NVC to receive my K-3 package. The I-130 took another week but I wasn't going that route so I wasn't too concerned. Others that were approved the same day as I was, had their K-3's received at NVC within 2 days of their approval. IT WAS SOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING. headbonk.gif Once the K-3 was sent to Costa Rica, things moved really fast.

THEY ARE RETARDS ON THE USCIS! I called from Costa Rica, my husband is the petitioner and they didnt give any information, they said he has to call... THAT'S STUPID!!

My petitions took 8 1/2 months to be approved. Once your K-3 gets to the NVC, it gets to Costa Rica really fast. You can actually track the DHL package and you can see when it gets delivered AND once they receive it you can e-mail them and ask them to e-mail you the packet 3 so you can get started. You can only pick up the package from the embassy Tues, Wed and Fri between 12 and 1:30 ( almost sure of the times) but you can call for your dr. appts and get everything you need within a few days and you can make your interview within a few days if you hustle. You get to pick what day you want to be interviewed. ( FYI- when I called, they told me they really like it when both spouses attend the interview)
They require the 156 and 157 be filled out online. The 156 was no problem.... the 157 wasn't possible, so we filled it out in the car on the way to the embassy. THey were perferctly fine with that. You can get all the photos you need for the interview at the embassy but you need photos when you go to the doctor.
The police report has to be translated into english. We only paid about $16.00 for that. Also, the marraige cert needs to be translated. Same thing... $16.00.
If you need info, I'll be happy to help out where I can. yes.gif

Most likely will need an I-212 AND an I-601. Both are $545.00 each.
The 212 is asking permission to come back and 601 is a hardship waiver.
Been there, done that..... Its alot of preparation.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, with a question

Well good to know about the police report and that you got it translated as well. We decided to just in case have everything translated as its only 5 bucks per page and we only have one page. We will probably also do the marriage certificate, police report, and her birth certificate just in case. Rather have too much stuff than not enough stuff.
We finished up all the medical stuff on Monday, the last doctor put the complete report together and sealed the envelope. She only had to get 2 vaccinations thank goodness! So next week we will stop by our translators house and have him translate those things for us and then we will be ready to go!
We are only 13 days away from our interview, we are really excited! We have no reason to believe that they will deny us, we have done everything right and have not had one delay yet! Just trusting God for this last little thing!

Everyone at the embassy is soooooo nice. You will get approved and have your visa in a matter of days. The only have certain days you can pick up the visa. It depends on your interview date. GOOD LUCK ( even though you really don't need it) I am so happy for you both !

We dont have those restrictions for pension on us...thank goodness! Thanks for the heads up though.

We have the blood test tomorrow morning followed by the x-ray exam and finishing off the day at the embassy requesting an official police record for my wife. Busy day! We had everything already translated and send into the NVC, from my understanding all of those documents should actually be here in the embassy. But we will double check and we have an official translator friend who does it for $5 per page! On Monday we have the physical exam and then we are back home until the interview appointment!

we had the police report translated too... ask them about that. there was something else we had translated but I forget what it was. All I know is that it is a pain in the butt to get things taken care of in CR. waiting in tons of lines... ugh.

My husband and I never had any bank accounts together because I am not a resident of CR and he doesn't have a SS# for the US. I never included him on my tax returns because of the same reason. Our marriage cert even has the wrong date on it. The consulate told me if we didnt' care, they don't care because she said it could take 2 years to get that fixed. and you know how long it takes to the the dang thing to begin with. It took us 5 months. and 8 months for a uscis approval. It was slow back then.. ha ha. now its down to 5 months on the chart....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, with a question

Well I guess that I can update this as we go along. We got the blood test done with the results today and the same with the X-ray. Those were easy and we are looking forward to Monday's appointment, once again hopefully not too many shots!
We went to the embassy and waited for 3.5 hours almost just to get the request sheet for getting her official police record! We are also a little concerned about the "proof" for our marriage and that it was for love. We have known eachother for over 2 years and been married almost one year but we dont have bank accounts since I am not a resident here and she cant be on mine since its in the states. We also are missionaries so most of the places we stay are either free or we dont have receipts proving we lived together. We do have emails for the past year and our passports showing I have been in the country for a year and we went on trips to Panama together. So emails, a FEW receipts for housing, a journal we shared when we got married, passport stamps, photos for the past 2+ years...should this be enough for us still? That is what we are a little concerned about now, not too much but that seems like the biggest obstacle to clear now. Thanks for the thoughts all!

you'll be fine. I had plane ticket receipts, a years worth of cell phone records, used calling cards, wire transfers and credit cards in both of our names. I submitted photos from all the trips to Costa Rica and our wedding. We also own a motorcycle together in CR. The interviewer was so nice. She asked my husband ( the costa rican citizen ) a total of 3 questions. They mostly talked to me. She asked me who was in the photos and asked me if I liked Costa Rica. The consulate was from my area in Pennsylvania and has family right in my town.... the world is so small... so we chatted about that for a little while. We talked about my daughters health condition and why I can't move to CR. All in all it was a really pleasant conversation. We stood there for about 45 minutes being interviewed. Our case is a bit different as my husband was deported from the US in 2007. All went smooth in the interview. You can read the embassy reivews on this forum. Click embassy info at the top. They have some recent reviews from Costa Rica.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, with a question

There was nothing that said we have to bring proof that we payed for the visa. I think since it is a CR-1 visa it was already paid for by the $400 we paid...I looked through absolutely everything they sent us and went through their checklists. We are calling this morning for the doctors, blood test, x-ray, and then the physical.
What do you mean pension cases? I drove a vehicle down on my last entrance to the country, havent officially sold it yet but my lawyer says it is fine and I can still leave the country. We were also in a car accident...no notifications so I think its going to suck for the owner of the car I borrowed and the other party, wasnt my fault though and wasnt too bad! Hopefully we can wrap up these loose ends.

We went for the K-3. That is why I think we had to deposit $131.00 in the bank in Costa Rica and bring the receipt to the interview. When I say Pension, I mean child support or spousal support. I am just mentioning that because I know they will stop anyone in the airport if they don't have the permission to leave. Just trying to give you advance notice incase that might be your situation. Alot of people don't know the laws in CR. My immigration attorney wasn't even aware of it. I learned it from a friend who was going through the same thing. Her husband had to pay 13 months child support in advance and put it in an account and get permission from the child's mother to leave the country. And Airport security did find them at the airport and made them show the permission paper. They will let you go through airport security, it when you get inside is when they page you over the intercom and question you. Its just one more thingto be aware of. AGAIN, I don't know your situation. Just passing on some info.

Good Luck, the doctors appointments will go fast and you will have everything you need. Costa Rica is very good about all of that even though the normal thing in CR is to wait in line after line to get what you need. Ha ha.. Be sure you ask about translating your documents. We drove all around San Jose getting things translated. I think we paid like 16 dollars a page.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, with a question

Just got notice in email! We basically only have two weeks! I hope this is enough time for the doctors appointment! It says be prepared to pay up to 400 for shots! Ouch, she also has no immunization record...June 2 is our interview date!

My husband didn't have to pay for immunizations at all... in fact...it was never even mentioned. We only paid for the doctor ( $40) and the x-ray( $60) and for the Visa. ( $131.) in Costa Rica. My husband doesn't have an immunization record as he is from the highest mountains in CR. ( HA HA ) You will have time to do everything... Don't worry. The doctors took my husband asap. The embassy gives you a list of doctors to call for everything you need. When you call for your Doctor appts, mention to them when your interview date is. They will work with you. also, The people at the embassy are really , really nice.

If there are any outstanding pension cases, be sure to get the written permission to leave the country before getting to the airport. They are strict about enforcing the laws and they will not let anyone leave the country without the permission.

Just got word (Through my dad, he called them since I am out of the US) and they said everything was approved on the 5th of this month! They said they are scheduling the interview appointment. They said we will here this week if we get an interview in June or not and if we don't hear from this week it will probably mean the interview will happen in July. We are hoping to get an interview in June, hopefully they are not too busy at the embassy! Does anyone know if they will email us this information or send it snail mail the my US address?
Thanks!

I don't Know about the Visa Center since I went the K-3 route. Nothing gets sent from the Embassy in Costa Rica, The mail system is really bad there, so the embassy calls the beneficiary to pick up the papers in person. You can e-mail or call the embassy and ask them to e-mail a copy of the packet to you.

Congratulations, you're on the path to CR-1 visa! Your K-3 was "killed" - aka administratively closed as it was approved on the same day as I-130.

It shouldn't be too long before your interview is scheduled.

Costa Rica is very fast. When Our K-3 was approved, I called the embassy and sent an e-mail. They sent me the info my husband was supposed to pick up. He couldn't get there for a few days so they emailed it to me so I could get things rolling. We had an interview date a week later. You actually call and make the appointment. They will give you a choice of what they have open. I flew down and went to the interview with him. the woman who conducted the interview is from my area and knows my town well. She actually has friends who live here... I was amazed. The world is so small. She was very nice and only asked my husband 2 or 3 questions. We stood there for 45 minutes and she talked to me the whole time.
Good Luck !!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 visa interview to happen in the USA. Is that possible?
yes I know.... but he is still trying to get a visa to come to the US. I applied for a K-3 and a CR-1. I was told the interview would be in the beneficiaries country. I thought it was so strange that her interview was here. AND I was also surprised to hear that he got approved after all the trouble he got into while he was here illegally. My attorney was sure he wouldn't be admitted because of the charges he had. BUT the government doesn't seem to care. I thought they looked down on people who had a police record.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 visa interview to happen in the USA. Is that possible?
I have a friend who married a guy from Guatemala about 4 years ago. He was here illegally. He got in some trouble and the US asked him to leave or face deportation. He chose to leave on his own. My friend filed an I-130 and has since been approved . Their interview was here in the US and she attended with their son. Her husband did not attend as he is in Guatemala. I never heard of this either. But she is living proof.
My attorney told me that our interview will be in Costa Rica.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRed Flags?

For Costa Rica,  you can search anyone in Costa Rica and find out their parents names etc.... married or divorced and if they have registered children.  Once you search a person, you can see the parents names. Then you can search them if you need to. You can even get their Cedula.
