Breaking News: NVC gave checklist to my Friend for writing N/A in I-864 form.. She called and they said her to leave blank space as mentioned in Instructions.

They are making All Loved one Frustrated now.

I hope others don't get this kind checklists.

possibly due to hiring new people to handle the backlog????  Maybe????  because others have gotten checklist for the exact opposite.     I put NA in every single blank space and mine was fine...    I hope they get their rules straight...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

I remember mine took a few hours. With that ridiculous computer system crash that's been going on, it would surprise me if CEAC was delayed as a result.

I'm not surprised the phone agents have no clue what's going on. I remember when the site's format changed, I had to explain the changes to the phone agent. It took about 5 minutes to convince her I was on the right website!

I would bet that they are told not to say anything about it... It would cause the phones to go crazy.

I called 3 times a day while I was at the NVC.  If I were still there, I'd be calling 5 times. I don't trust anyone there.   I think its disgusting that they haven't done anything to take care of the backlog.  What good is a 5 month approval from the USCIS if you end up waiting 5 more months at the NVC and then another month to 6 weeks waiting for your interview????     I can't stand reading this thread anymore. Its really depressing.  I did my 11 months at the USCIS and 2 months at the NVC.  Thank god I missed the big backlog at the NVC. I don't think I could handle 2 backlogs.....  waiting for the waiver is bad enough.

Good Luck to all who are stuck at the NVC right now...

Copies are fine in the AOS package for proof of US citizenship/residency. It's only civil documents in the IV package that need to be originals/certified copies.

HMMMM, I didn't send any of that with my AOS package. I didn't even send a cover letter.  I just sent originals with the IV package... but they were sent together.. separate bar code sheets of course.

Hey everyone! I'm about to send off my AOS packets just wondering if you guys could let me know if I'm missing anything.

? AOS bar-coded cover sheet
? Form I-864 (completed and signed)
? 2011 Tax return
? 2012 Tax return
? 2013 Tax return
? Proof of employment - Job letter
? Proof that employment will end - Job letter
? Three recent pay stubs

Joint Sponsor's documents
? Form I-864 (completed and signed)
? 1-864A (completed and signed)
? 2011 Tax return and W2
? 2012 Tax return and W2
? 2013 Tax return and W2
? Copy of birth certificate
? Copy of passport
? Job verification letter
? Pay stubs from the most recent months (March, April, May, June, July)

I know it's supposed to be either the passport or birth certificate, but I decided to send both :-) responses are greatly appreciated. TIA!

if you send copies, you will get checklisted ...  everything has to be the ORIGINAL or Certified COPY.  But in my opinion, originals are the way to go .   And  you don't need the entire tax return, just send the transcripts.  and you really just need the 2013. The other 2 years are optional.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

Hi Everyone,

Just got off the phone with Paige at NVC.

Case number assigned july 10th and I called on July 11th to get this info and gave our emails. I thought the 30 days started from case number assigned to receive the email with the next steps? Am I wrong here? We still have not been able to fill out DS-261 or AOS fee

She told me that as of today my case has been "inputed to process info" and that I can expect the email any time in the next 20 days from Today!!!    Is this what others experienced or is this a sign of their backlog and delays to come?

I also asked about the computer crash issue and she said eveything is fine and the systems are running fine. She acted as tho she didnt know about the computer crash.

Thanks all! Im still reading the posts from today, there was a lot of chatter  :joy:

Just keep checking... timelines are all over the place.    I completed everything within 9 days...  some take 2 months or more...  just keep checking.

Hello i wanna discuss about something. Do you think we'll get checklisted if I only submitted 1 letter of employment and pay stubs from my first job only? I got my second job but I am new and just started this month so I can't get yet. Do you think it's necessary to send it if ever i can get my letter of employment from my other job because Im planning to send it with the cover letter. Im bothered because I dont want to get a checklist because of this. Do you think it's possible to send it before they'll scan our case so it's there and no need for them to issue us a checklist? Or maybe can we just call to nvc and fax to them a letter of explanation including a copy of my first pay stub. Because i've read not to send additional documents if NVC didn't ask for it because it will just complicate the case. Your answers will be a major relief to me and my wife. Thank you!

do you make enough with your first job to cover the poverty guidelines??  if  you do, I wouldn't worry about it.  I sent in a corrected AOS 2 days after my lawyer sent an incorrect one.  I just used the original barcode sheet.  I did eventually get check listed for the AOS but the corrected one was already scanned . I saved alot of time.   Just remember, if you send in the extra paystub and they never checklist you for it, that mail will have to be reviewed before you get a CC.

Please read Saylin's WIKI.  You can verify all this information yourself.   The domicile info is there too.

I have now received a 2nd email about my IV Fee, but still not showing up on website. 1st letter sent on Wednesday and 2nd yesterday.

I'm confused.. has this happened to anyone else??

Keep checking... try clicking on one of the other links on the CEAC.  It  might show up.

Thanks 'LoveMyTico'. Yes, there were two supervisor reviews on June 9 and June 10 for the missing email of April 30th. My wife attached new I-864 form in her email. She also attached the corrected I-864 form in her correspondence with these two supervisors. So, all three emails that she sent have corrected I-864 form.

Did they request you to send it electronically??? or did you just send it like that?

Thanks Saylin. We hope they review Ripu's first email and give a cc. It has been stressful as we have waited too long for the resolution of this checklist.

Regards

Jag

Honestly , they don't care about the emails. They have to attach them to your file. What they care about is if all the documents are there.  If your email is explaining why the document is not there, you will probably get another checklist or if you are really lucky, they will give you a CC and you will have to bring the missing item to the interview.   Did you request a supervisor review?

Sorry if I am asking a question that has already been answered...,.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

Not sure if it was a typo while writing the above post, but the correct email should be NVCInquiry, an i not an e.

Anyways, not sure about those two mysterious emails. IIRC, I think it was LoveMyTico, but could have been someone else, they also had mysterious mail logged in their account and I think they ended up discovering it had something to do with a supervisor adding a note or that their review counts as mail. I'm a little hazy on this as it was a month or two ago (which means like 10000000 posts ago, haha). I do remember that there was some connection to supervisors though.

Now, whether it's true they have to review the other two "pieces of mail", I don't know. You may just have to wait and see what happens after they review the AOS checklist.

Yes, if you called and verified the AOS package was reviewed and accepted, that's what this "checklist" is based off of.

There's nothing to worry about as this is normal of false checklists. Just continue to keep an eye out for the IV fee for when it gets invoiced and pay ASAP since if NVC receives your documents before the bill appears as PAID in their system, there may be a delay (and a possible loss of documents).

Yep, it was me !!

If they have all documents for your file, they will give you a CC.  If they send a response  to your inquiry, that will show up as an unidentified piece of mail.  I can't tell you how many times they would tell me there was still mail that had to be reviewed when the last piece of mail I sent was scanned on May 8th.   If you ask for a supervisors review, the response they send to you will show up as an unidentified piece of mail too. If you sent 3 emails, probably there are a few unreviewed pieces of mail.  They will tell you that all mail has to be reviewed before a CC  but its all a lie.   Don't worry !

They drove me crazy with the amount of supervisor reviews they did on my file. Probably the reason for the unidentified pieces of mail.  The DOS is super disorganized.  I used to call 3 times a day to keep up with the progress. I didn't' trust anything they said and I wanted to be on top of a problem right away so I could fix it ASAP and not waste more time.

I am skeptical of any attorney or accountant making this claim with respect to anything other than a business immigration expense to a corporation or LLC.

Further, the 2014 standard deduction for the married filing jointly status is $12,400. You'd need to have itemized deductible expenses greater than this number to make it worthwhile.

I will be filing HOH for 2014 if my husband is not here by then.  I think with my mortgage and other deductions  PLUS the fact that I am now unemployed.. It might be worthwhile. I use turbo tax and I don't remember seeing anything about immigration fees  but then again, I wasn't looking for it either.  So far we have paid the lawyer $5130. for his services ( big joke) all the USCIS fees and all the NVC fees and the waiver fee  Approx $6633..   I would love to be able to write these fees off.....

Very interesting observation. My docs were received on June 10th and scanned on June 13th, which was a Friday.

I read recently of someone getting fined by the IRS for deducting immigration related costs. "Mentioned something" is hardly good enough when dealing with the IRS. Get it in writing from him before you act upon it.

I'll check into it for sure .  I was just asking to see if anyone else ever did it

My Immigration lawyer mentioned something about being able to claim the Immigration fees on my taxes. Has anyone ever claimed their immigration fees on their taxes? I paid so much money to the US Government and to the lawyer for this process. It would be a nice bonus if its possible.

I am off to Costa Rica tomorrow morning for our interview on the 15th.   My document folder is huge and I had to rearrange my carry-on twice so far.  United is getting very strict with the carry-on bags so I think I will carry it in my back pack with my laptop.   Sometimes they decide to check carry-ons at the gate and I am NOT letting them check my document folder.. NO WAY

Waiver is  ready to file ( according to my lawyer)  I have been following the waiver processing times and they seem to be getting approved a little faster than last year.   Cross your fingers for me !!!!!

The letter is a step in the right direction, has NSC picked up the pace at all with the I-601s?
I'm sure that was the longest hour and 15 minutss of your life!!!

it was 3 hours total. It was awful. The waiver processing has picked up and I am seeing approvals in 3.5 to 4 months now. I plan to file an expedite because I was laid off from my job. By the way... The new AOS I gave the Embassy was fine. My daughter is sponsoring my husband. Now to file the waiver when I get back home. Pray for us for a fast waiver Approval. I want him home for Christmas. I've been wondering about her, too!

I have a very slow internet connection on my p Phone. 3 hour interview. Torture! First window was both of us...20 minutes. 2nd window was supposed to be both of us but they got him alone for an hour and 15 minutes. They asked him everything. Down to what kinds of car I drive.. Crazy. Then he came back to sit with me and they called him up for finger prints...I went with him. Then we say down again and they called us back and made us both raise our right hands and swear we are telling the truth. Then he asked like 5 more questions and then handed me the waiver eligibility letter and told us he
will be asked to finish the interview after the waiver us processed

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm going to write a full report of our experience on the embassy review page.  One thing I should mention is they asked us for the confirmation page that DS-260 was filled out online.  Also, the question that says "are you immigrating to the USA with your spouse?"  I put "no" since people on here said I wasn't immigrating, just moving.  Which made sense.  But the interview guy said it was wrong and changed it to "yes" saying I would move with my husband after visa approval.

Anyways, we're going to our favorite restaurant today to celebrate!!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! :goofy:  :goofy:  (L)  (L)

We are so annoyed.  My spouse had her interview on 8/7 and was approved.  We are scheduled to leave on 8/17. Both tickets purchased and the officer at her interview said there would be plenty of time. Unfortunately, the CEAC site still says ready.  I have emailed twice, called 3 times and finally got a person the third time who said they won't answer the phone.  Told me to fax the information and gave me the fax number.  I told him I've emailed twice already and have heard nothing.  He said their system is broken and they are trying to fix it.  He said a fax may be quicker.  Now we are not sure what to do.  Hope it arrives before the 17th, travel 3 1/2 hours to Taipei and see if they may talk to us in person, and/or change our plane reservation (which will cost us $500).  I wish I knew what was going on and how long it will take to fix. :ranting:  :clock:  :crying:

that's why they say not to make any travel plans until you have the visa in your hands.

I remember feeling like W.T.F??  I didn't send any mail after May 8th.  One of the operators told me that whenever you inquire about your case via email or when they respond, they have to add it to your file.. that is why it shows up as mail.   I am glad you feel better.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - August 2014

Hi, I called NVC this morning and received a good news and a very puzzling bad news.

Good news - They said my AOS  with scan date of July 7th was reviewed and looks like it is accepted :joy: .

Now the Puzziling news -  The rep told me a third package (other than AOS or IV) was scanned in  on August 11th. I have know idea what this files are. I only send them two packages.1) AOS package scanned in on July 7th and 2) IV documents  scanned in on July 23.

When i asked the rep (mario), he told me they can only only tell what it is after the package being reviewed and the NVC policy is to review everything that is put in the folder...  I was expecting CC in 2 weeks. Now, I am worried if my CC will be delayed  because of this third package.  Anybody had similar experience?   I did submitted an expedite request on July 22nd which i was told was denied around in the first or second week of August. Could  third package something related to the expedite request?? Any clue??

If you made an inquiry via email, they count that as a scanned piece of mail.. They played games with me and kept telling me there was mail that was scanned but there wasn't. They did so many supervisor reviews, I guess they considered those as mail.  They told me I would not get a CC until all scanned mail was reviewed... but that was a lie. As soon as they reviewed the last piece of mail we sent for the checklist, they gave me my CC.     Your expedite request and denial is  probably the "so called" piece of mail.  Don't worry.  anything to do with your file has to be tracked.

Was there some other reason for not providing the income amounts (you were outside US?)? Someone got a checklist for not filling in the 2012 and 2011 income amounts.

Honestly,  I didn't feel like looking on my old laptop for the old tax returns.   I sent 2013 transcript and I put the amount from line 22 on my return.    My lawyer sent the AOS first with the wrong income amount. I sent the correction 2 days after he sent his because I knew I would get checklisted ( which I eventually did) but the correction was scanned only 2 days after the original. Lawyer did not include the 2012 and 2011 income amounts either. I know that for sure because he would have had to ask me for the information.  He did not.

Thats not true. There have been people who have been successful at getting members of congress to help push their case along. It depends on the congress person. I have been in contact with this office previously regarding public policy issues. I voted for the senator so i will do all i can to get help with my case. Dont get a attitude with what im doing with my own case. Il do whatever to get my husband here.

As it states right in the question, you either send in the most recent year (2013) or all three years (2011, 2012, 2013). Regardless of what you sent in, you still have to fill out all three years' information on that question ;)

I did NOT include the three years information. I only provided the 2013 income.   Mine was fine
