National Visa Center (Dept of State)checklist, civil documents

Same situation to me
I submitted all civil documents in 22 septembre . In 5 octobre nvc reply me that they receive my documents but the most of this documents are missing or need same information I m sure I submitted the true and all document . What can I do? I call the nvc all the time but not respond

The NVC is notorious for "losing" documents.  Its what they do.  I have to wonder if they do it on purpose to make their numbers look better for the months end.   You can search on VJ and you will find MANY cases of this.

Good Luck

thanks for the reply. Yes maybe they havent scanned it yet because of so many paper works. Oh my I'll just really have to be patient.

when you call, do they tell you they received mail for your file? If so, then that is the scan date.  Did you include a bar code coversheet?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNO touches, NO approvals for the week of Dec. 8th

Jen, hi. I understand you've been apart for a year, but from looking at your timeline, it appears that your case has only been in the system about 5 and half months. Am I reading that correctly? Because, we've got people in here whose cases have been "in the system" for 8, 9, and almost 10 months. I happen to be one of those people.

Not trying to be a downer, but you've probably got a bit more of a wait on your hands.

Thanks for the update Monica!

Yeah, I told my husband that I think we'll hear something from them in February, if they don't end up doing name checks or something like that. My birthday and our legal marriage anniversary is in February (same day, awww... LOL), so that would be a great gift!

I just know VSC is gonna give me the best gift for my birthday EVER! Cause I love them so much! How can they not love me back??? wink.gif

My one year anniversary was November 30th. I was in Costa RIca with my husband. I was hoping I had some good news to tell him when I was there with him.... but NOTHING !!! The waiting is killing us. I am assuming the approvals will slow down this month due to the holiday since everyone is taking vacation time to be with thier families. What about our families??? We are all separated from our spouses because we are waiting on them !!! This is so frustrating !!!!!

crying.gif I was told by the immigration attorney that in his recent experience, approvals takes about 6 months. He is a decent lawyer. I think it depends on the country of the beneficiary. He told me he is working with a family from the Middle East and they have been waiting for to be approved for almost 2 years. He said they just keep asking for additional information from this poor guy. He told me it is a good sign that they haven't asked us for anything more.

I am trying to stay positive.

Seriously...what do you think would happen if a small group of us went to VSC in person, and didn't do anything stupid. Just wait outside and when an employee comes out say, "Can I just talk to you for one minute?" And then show them a picture of our loved one and say, "I have been away from my loved one for XXX days, months, years" and then say, "I just want you to know how many holidays, special occasions, tragedies, etc etc etc that I spent alone without my other half. Please, the next time you think about taking your time with an application, remember we're not just a name on a paper. We're human beings, with a heart and blood, and tears..." And then just leave it at that?????

We could also make a video and put all our stories into one video and then send it to them???

If they have even a little bit of humanity, it might touch them enough to get moving.

I still say we should try to get Michael Moore to make a documentary!

I totally agree with you !
I wonder if all that goes through their heads when they pick up a file to process... or are they just waiting for their 15 minute break and then lunch and then the time clock to hit 5pm??? it is Christmas time for God's sake. mad.gif

Good luck to all and hope you all get a speedy approval! My heart goes out to those who are Feb/March/April filers. I only got my NOA1 in August and im loosing my mind!!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChristmas Week Starts....Everyone's Welcome..
mad.gif I received a letter from my congresswoman on Friday. I forget the actual dates they gave me and I left the letter at home, but they gave me processing dates at VSC like March and April for the I-130's and I-129F's. Good news though..... my file isn't lost....
Nice to know...
They told that the new administration coming in with Obama may change things. They are hopeful... BUT who knows if they just tell everybody that just to keep them quiet.

It is a bit ridiculous how the k-1's are getting approved fast then the k-3's. Wouldn't it make sense to unite the couples that are already married? I don't understand.
We already made a commitment ... headbonk.gif

I'm sure they are short staffed in VSC this week and next. Good luck to who ever can get through the cracks in the next 2 weeks.

From what I was told... When you file a K-3 and you already have a CR-1 in progress they combine the files into one and they usually get approved together. ( that is what I was told ) It is very frustrating to see the transferred files get approved. All of us who were left behind to rot at VSC seem to have a long wait ahead of us.

I did call and inform my attorney about the files that are getting transferred to CSC are getting approved with dates after mine. He said he was going to check into it. I also called the congress womans office again. They told me they can request that my file be trnaferred to CSC but they advised me against that.

This whole thing is ridiculous.

Has theere been any movement from VSC today?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting for VSC - STILL
I spent Friday and Saturday moaning and groaning to my attorney. He is drafting a letter for me. We are trying to get our petition expedited. I spent days researching this whole process. Since I need to file an I-601 in Costa Rica, my process will be a little longer than I thought. the waiver is sent to Honduras for approval. UGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I really don't understand VSC.
My husband asked me when I am coming back to Costa Rica....I am having a hard time financially right now so I don't know. Even though the plane ticket is only $300.00. I have to consider the unpaid time off from work.
I was hoping to get an approval so I could estimate when he might have his interview so I could be there.

This is a new Year and a new week at VSC. Hopefully they are all at work today with piles of files to approve. CROSS YOUR FINGERS. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.

Its not like I can afford it. Its because my heart hurts without him. I have a house and bills and three kids here in the states. I am pretty lucky that my job lets me take whatever time I want to go see him BUT like I said... I don't get paid when I am with him. My husband's grandmother always asks me why I don't stay for a few months... She is really old and maybe she just doesn't understand. Its not like I don't want to.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting for VSC - STILL
Yep, Last February I refinanced my house to get Money to pay off my credit cards and have money for the immigration attorney. We needed an attorney due to our "unusual issues". I have been to Costa Rica 7 times within the last year. I am fortunate enough to be able to stay with my mother-in-law or my husbands cousin when I am there. But I don't get paid when I am not working, so I lose $800.00 per week when I go. Plus the plane ticket and the cost of food and taxi's and bus fare. My kids stay here so I also have to buy phone cards to call the United States. The last few times I went, I brought my laptop. I was able to tap into the wireless internet from the chevrolet dealer across the street. I was able to chat on AOL and MSN Live with my kids. Phone cards are like $6.00 for only 18 minutes. Its crazy.

Now, if my husband was here it would be so much better financiallyand in every other way !. I don't understand what the hold up is at VSC. I read a thread from a former employee at one of the service centers and he was saying it really only takes 15 miuntes to process and approve a file ( if it is a straight forward case)

If they are transferring so many files to CSC, and they are approving files that are from July and August, then what is the issue??? My NOA1 for my CR-1 is June 23rd. I saw a July file get approved recently that got transferred to CSC. It makes me so MAD.

He seemed annoyed with me but I didn't care. He told me he can request that my file be transferred to CSC but he didn't recommend it.
I'M SO FRUSTRATED.

Are you guys actually getting in touch with "humans" at the VSC? How? I was on the phone for over 2 hours one day and could never get through to a human. Its a constant barrage of computerized phone messages and menus that don't even help you. Sometimes I wonder with everybody calling all the time if it just slows the whole process down. My wife has been gone since Oct 08. I saw her for a couple of weeks over the holidays, it was tough to leave. Although we've been married since 29 Aug, we've only been together for about 2 months. It's just frustrating that in our first year of marriage, we'll be lucky to see eachother for 3 months. I wish the VSC could just hire about 100,000 more people and file about a million packages a day, then maybe we would be in business.

I called the USCIS yesterday on the 800 number. I got a really nice guy who went out of his way to answer ALL of my questions and he actually put me on hold to find out information for me. He got back on the line and told me to call back and talk to a CSR. I took his advice. I called and spoke to a CSR. She took my information and told me someone would be in touch with me within 5 days.
Less than 2 hours later I received an e-mail asking for documentation from them. I was shocked !!

I also read that people who get approved for expediting, have been approved in a couple months. This entire process is so tiring.

Oh, damn! My best friend is married to an Indian guy. If I'm not mistaken they had to file an I-601 waiver for her husband. It was a waiver for someone who was deported, and I think she said it was 601. She has been waiting almost 2 years on her husband's waiver answer. She just got an email 2 weeks ago saying a decision was made and to wait for instructions from the consulate in India.

I hope they get your approval quickly! Your situation is very serious! Let your lawyer bust their a$$ and get it done!!!!

I don't know about how long after an expedite. I think the expedite only gets you finished with the initial approval part. I don't think it does anything to get you through NVC or the consulate interview part faster.
There was one person that got expedited and at the consular level they were put into AP...so basically no benefit to them for the expedite. It all depends.

I read about someone in the very first days of joining VJ...that is why i am unable to provide exact name of that member...His/her application was expedited through out the process...and, here esposadetucho is in the absolute life and death situation, financial loss and so on...There are some ways to expedite in NVC I believe...Should be conveyed them(NVC) in the same way u gonna do it with the VSC...Best of luck...I have doubt, how many of them in COSTA RICA are put on AP? rarely...am I wrong? not sure...if not visa in hand within a week or so..(well I know, in this specific case, every day counts)

but, anyways..important thing is, approvals are coming...esposadetucho should get approval anytime soon even without the expeditation, I believe NVC ppl are more likely to be human beings unlike the VSC(who does not care about the emotion...), contact with them...

Good Luck

I wish I requested the expedite months ago. WHAT WAS I THINKING?
My attorney said once we get the K-3 approval, things will move very fast. I have to submit another expedite request for the I-601 waiver approval. I am going to my attorneys office tomorrow morning to give him all the letters from my daughter's oncologist and Endocrinologist. The package is getting Fedex'd on Monday.
I am tired of waiting. I am sick of talkng on the phone instead of being with my husband. I know everyone else is in the same boat.

How long does the medical exam take? My husband was asking me and I didn't know what to tell him. I know they do blood tests.... so how long does it take to get the results? My husband is very "laid-back" I want to get an idea of how long all this takes so he gets his butt there and leaves himself enough time to get everything taken care of.
ALso, The packet that comes from the Embassy..... will it be in English or Spanish? The Embassy we need to go to is in Costa Rica.. My husband will do much better if the papers are in Spanish.

They have this time to catch up.

call your congressman and fill out a request and authorization. fax it back to them and they will inquire about your case. the congressman have more pull and can get more information for you.

I have a feeling USCIS wont update the website because then people will inquire about their cases after seeing how far out of range they are.

I was disgustingly sweet to the people who picked up the phone. I said "HAPPY NEW YEAR " when they answered blah blah blah.... I don't know if that helped but I got alot of information from them. I was even put on hold while he check with someone else about my question..

Yea, I used the option for not knowing your case number.... you could always just keep pressing 0 until you get an operator. LOL !!!
I got two wonderful people who were very helpful.
I spent most of my day yesterday collecting all the medical history on my daughter. My attorney says they just need proof of her condition. The oncologist even wrote a letter for me personally. ( LOVE THAT MAN !!!)

My husband is asking me to come back to Costa Rica.... THis month is not looking good financially. It s not the plane ticket that kills me... it s the "not getting paid while I'm there" that blows me out of the water. headbonk.gif protest6wz.gif protest6wz.gif protest6wz.gif protest6wz.gif UGHHHHH

Maybe if we get expedited I will have an idea of when his interview might be.

How many approvals so far this month????

There has been some approvals for June and a July recently. I think things are finally looking up.

I want to go see my husband at the end of January. It would be so cool to have an approval for him when I get there.

Earthquake Rescue Efforts Continue, Unlikely More Survivors Will Be Found
With the help of US and Colombian soldiers, the Cruz Roja Costarricense (Costa Rican Red Cross) and hundreds of volunteers have been busy searching and recovering bodies from the area struck by Thursday's killer earthquake.

Rescue workers have had to endure scenes like the find of the body of Idania Pérez Borges hugging her two children trapped under the mud. Or the hand of Rafael Ángel Herrera Esquivel reaching out from under the dirt, sticking out of the window of a vehicle, with the wedding ring with the name of his wife.

The bodies recovered are being sent to a temporary morgue set up in a school by the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ).

The desperation of the families of the 34 on the OIJ list of those still missing continues. Inside Costa Rica has recevied a number of calls from family members in the United States wanting to know the situation and trying to get in contact with a loved one.

"It will be a miracle if anyone is found alive", said Jorge Rojas, director of the OIJ. Rojas talked about the possibility that a pocket of air may keep alive someone buried under the mud and debris, cautioning that any such air pocket would have been exhausted by now and the possibility of finding a survivor was minimal.

Rojas added that the worst is not being able to get to all of the people trapped under the tons of mud and dirt.

Daniel Gallardo, president of the Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE), expressed the same sentiments, adding that in some cases the dirt and mud is more than 150 metres deep and people trapped under tons of earth making it impossible to reach them.

Gallardo added that rescue operations will not cease until every last effort has been made to recover all the bodies and workers will be working from the first rays of sunlight to the last.

The CNE head also thanked the help received from the US and Colombian military for the five helicopters used in the rescue efforts as the local helicopters alone could not have done the job.

Captain Camilo Gómez of the Colombian military said that he has orders from the Colombian government to stay in the area under the emergency is over and they (Colombian military) are no longer needed.

All,
I put in the request over the phone. USCIS got back to me within 2 hours with an e-mail requesting proof of my daughter's diagnosis. It took me a few days to get a hold of the doctor and tell him what I needed. I sat with our attorney yesterday and he typed up a few letters and faxed everything electronically yesterday morning.

I went to a birthday party last night and alot of my husband's family were there. It is always hard to be with them when all I really want to do is be with him.

Hopefully this week will be great for all of us. When I hear something from USCIS I will post !

Happy Monday. rolleyes.gif

PS. notime4haterz needs her approval THIS WEEK. I don't want to see her pick up and move ( PLAN B )

notime4haterz, you are a USC. You have the right to be happy in your country with your husband. [/b]
