How about they serve the USC who petitioned and they go after all the illegals who are here. The lawyer does nothing but sit back and wait. I'm not that kind of person. For all I have heard about the approvals coming threw without the system being updated... I was just looking for a glimmer of hope when I called. A scrap, a shred of a left-over..... something to go with. But NOTHING good came of it. I need to tell my husband something good. He needs to be happy. For everything that happened to him the other day... I wanna see him smile. And I was reading the Tico Times online (its a Costa Rican newspaper in English) . Apparently the taxi drivers are planning on going on strike next week. They are protesting the pirate taxi drivers. That means I have to carry my 2 giant suitcases and my laptop bag on a freakin' bus. Little me and all that luggage.... SH!T... if that doesn't scream "I am AMERICAN" I don't know what does. UGHHHH I don't know what happened with my life. ( I sound like my husband) The week I go to CR the place falls apart... LOL !!!!!! Ther eis that black cloud again. The guy here at work was trying to be positive for me this morning. He kept telling me things will start to go my way.... I was almost in tears. Just having a bad day...... We are following all the rules. I struggle to pay my bills, take care of my family and just get by day by day without my husband. Why is it such a hassle to do things the legal way ??? The overstay penalties are actually very hefty. Do a search around VJ for the specifics, but basically if they overstay their visa they could be looking at multi-year and even permenant bans from future entries. I don't know what the penalties are for working illegally, but gone are the days of hand slapping. Our petitions was approved just recently and we are waitng for the interview so he can join me in the United States. So I was told there maybe a rule that the father must pay 13 months in advance for child support in order to leave the country. Is this true? He says he knows people do that but he was not sure if it was still allowed.  Call annonymously. Just say you are planning a 6 month visit, what should you do about the 90 day stay.  They might even tell  you that you can get an extension. Mexico, Latin & South America	travel in Central America to renew 90 day stay allowance	I heard somewhere that they are cracking down on the 90 day stay and that leaving for 48 hours might not work anymore.  Check into it. I know they were swarming the boarders during semana santa.   Just a heads up.   Why don't you stop in at the emabssy and see if you can get an extension?  Explain that you have papers filed with the US government and would like to stay in CR while they are being processed.   They might say no or that they don't do that, but I would rather try that then cross over into Nicaragua or Panama. I use it all the time to write to my husbands family and sometimes my husband. It doesn't translate perfectly but you can get the idea. Then you can cut and paste it into this forum. NVC operator told me I'll get an approval with a  checklist  with instructions on how to obtain the cerificate and to bring it to the interview.  Police certificates are only good for a short time in Costa Rica. They don;t like it hang up get another operator. It;s about how bad do you want it. I got to know people by first name and they knew me was no issue at all and I got much favor. National Visa Center (Dept of State)	NVC Question	They have thousands of files to deal with . They do log every time you call and who spoke to you. I have had several operators tell me the last time they talked to me  etc...  plus I asked and they told me they keep a log in your file.      They are only operators. Most of them don't even know the whole process, so if you want a good answer to your question... either call back 3 times and ask the same question or follow the NVC May Filers thread and ask over there. You'll get a better response.   and they don't have time to try and match your user name up to your file at the NVC. National Visa Center (Dept of State)	Original documents vs translated documents	if you can please clear one more thing   Interview documents list says that we will have to take original documents to embassy Does it mean i'll have to issue another copy of all my original documents? when your case is complete and you get an interview assigned, they will send you an interview letter and it will specify what you need to bring to the interview  and what they already have.  To be safe, I would bring copies of everything you sent to the NVC just in case. National Visa Center (Dept of State)	Original documents vs translated documents	Yep, you have to submit the original document and the translation. If you send one and not the other you will get a checklist and that will delay your process another 60 days.  You can ask for the originals at the interview.  May I suggest you paperclip the translation to each original in a few different spots so the two documents don't get separated.  They have been known to say they don't have one or the other and then you are forced to send another even though you did send both.   Make sure you put your case number in pencil on each document too incase they get separated from the file.
