IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	I used to spend my time on hold figuring out exactly what I wanted to say, and even jotting some notes if necessary, because my mind would always go totally blank as soon as they picked up! It helped to have a cheat sheet When they answer I always greet them with their name. Ask them how they are... Then I let them talk.. I try to talk to them like I am talking to a friend. I used to get nervous but not anymore.  They are tight-lipped about the process though. I have asked several operators the same question. They all give vague answers.. Like its a TOP SECRET operation. I guess they don't want to be held to anything.  Typical government workers I guess.     I have learned in my old age (  )  that if you don't ask, you may never know.. So I ask everything. The worst thing they can say is no or I can't give that information out.  So then I just move on to the next victim operator.    I am so sick and tired of waiting. I am just worried that they won't accept my revised AOS and that I have to resubmit another one and then forget it...I'll never get anywhere then. Don't understand why some things we can't just take as revised to the interview.  I agree.  The USCIS already approved my husband's Birth Certificate... so why all the HUB BUB at the NVC???  And why does it take 3+ weeks to review a checklist item?   You would think the checklisted files would have some kind of priority. Yesterday when I spoke to Yvette she said that they didn't have any specific time for when they would start scheduling July interviews.   Hoping to hear good news from the rest of you today. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	Talked to WALDO !!   He was actually very helpful.   Talking to Supervisor Liam last night was a waste.  Anyway, the mail that is showing up in my file from May23rd is an email response . I sent an email on May1st regarding the birth cert they checklisted me for before they put in a supervisor review on May 2nd. Waldo said when they respond to emails, they barcode them so they end up in the file. It is technically external mail but he was able to see that it was an email.   So Arthur can go pound sand for being so nasty yesterday.  I am guessing Waldo has been there a while.    I tried asking about the process. Like what happens after a file gets checklisted? Does it stay with the same reviewer or does it go back into the shark pool?  He kept saying he couldn't give out that kind of info but I got enough out of him. They get checklisted and then it goes back to the file room to wait for the items to come in. When the checklisted items get reviewed, a reviewer requests the file from the file room and they finish the file.  A completely inefficient system if you ask me.       Anyway, I am praying they get to MAY 8th mail sometime this week. Waldo told me the interviews are scheduled as an ongoing process. They aren't just limited to  the last week and first week of the month. It depends on each embassy and  the dates they provide.   It is possible to get scheduled at anytime as long as there are openings. Edited by LoveMyTico, 28 May 2014 - 10:01 AM. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	wow... what did he say was wrong with your birth certificate?  how did you get the supervisor on the phone? I didn't ask for the supervisor, the woman told me to hold on. She was confused too.  There is so much BS going on in my file ever since I asked for the supervisor review on the birth cert. They said the original is missing a stamp from the Civil Registry but the certificate is from the civil registry. It says Registro Civil all across the top and it has other stamps and signatures etc.  My husband says everyone has this kind of BC but if they lose it, they have to go to the registry and get a certified copy, which we sent on the 8th. The supervisor says they have pictures of each document of what they are allowed to accept.  He explained to me what the certified copy looks like.  Obviously they have no idea what an original looks like.   I would love to know what was mailed and received on the 23rd.   This is such BULL #######.  and what a bummer that July is not likely... That's insane!! Most people get their documents lost... IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	I had a 30 minute conversation with a supervisor. This is total BS.   Their  system is showing mail received form the 8th ( which I sent) and from the 23rd ( which I did not send )  he said that if I get a CC this week, it is very doubtful  that I will even get a July interview. They just don't work that fast.  He said my file goes nowhere until all mail is reviewed.  I told him that is total ####### because I didn't send anything after the 8th.  SO if they complete the file I have to wait until some stupid mail THAT I DID NOT SEND is reviewed????   He offered to look at the birth cert again and he was explaining what they are allowed to accept and what I explained doesn't sound correct. He was explaining the certified copy to me. I explained that their instructions say ORIGINAL OR CERTIFIED COPY.   He said he would rather not pull my file and look at it because quite  possibly someone might be looking for it and he could delay it by pulling it out of the loop, So I told him to leave it alone.   WHY THE HELL IS THERE MAIL IN MY FILE FROM THE 23RD???  The lawyer did not send anything because I told him I took care of the NVC part.  NVC said they can tell if it is internal mail or not. The mail from the 12th and 16th were  internal. This mail from the 23rd is external. I always received the email from NVC around 1-2Pm (PST).   Hope I got the correct answer. I will call back tomorrow.     then it sounds like a false check list. When were your IV docs scanned? IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	I see in times line   AOS/IV package entered into system    How do you guys know that, can you check the status online or call NVC?   I have submitted AOS/IV package and USPS recipet shows they are delivered today. I have also filled in DS260. I would like to know when they entered into their system.   Also why does it take so long to schedule interview? They say because embassy is busy however I know if someone applies to visit visa at Islamabad embassy they give interview date in merely 3 days but why so long for our spouses? I have already been in extended review for ever at I-130 and I don't want to be in another black hole again!               the day its delivered is different than the day they scan it in the system. There is usually a few days difference from the delivery date.  Mine was delivered by FEDEX on May 6th but not scanned until May 8th. So May 8th is the date that starts the clock ticking.    You have to call and find that out. There is nothing online that gets updated.    The DS260 only will show as Completed.   The interview openings are supplied by each individual embassy. It depends on how busy your embassy is.   My husband obtained a visitors visa from Costa Rica. The entire process took 8 days, from the day he called to get an appt to the day he received the Visa. What a Butt-Head !!!!!!   He said there is mail from May 8th and May 23rd.  I'm like,  no, I only sent one piece of mail and it was scanned in on May 8th. What is the other mail that was only received last Friday?.  With the biggest attitutde EVER !! he says, " I DON'T KNOW MA'AM, YOU HAVE TO WAIT 30 DAYS FOR THEM TO REVIEW IT ! ! ! ! ! ! !!"  then he says  " IS THERE AQNYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH??"  I just say no and hang up..     He gets the nasty award for today !!  I only waited 18 minutes on hold and I got through the 3 time I dialed.   BUt WOW, that just makes me want to call right back.   My husband said he will call later today.. I know I will do the same with the consulate in casablanca once they receive our case!!! She is 83 so I had to explain the process a bit more and she just shook her head and said " that's the US government"   LOL LOL LOL     Ughhhh I just want to book my flight.     on a relaxing note.... I spent the day at the pool with my 22 year old daughter. Ate breakfast with her at the Sweet Briar Café in my town ( she paid)  After the pool, ,my mom made spaghetti for us.     Yesterday my husband helped me  (over the phone) get rid of the CHECK ENGINE light in my car. My car was in the shop and they replaced the steering column. The battery had to be recharged so it messed up the sensor for the check engine light.    Also replaced the ceiling fan in my bedroom with the help of my daughter .   I called my husband to tell him this is "husband $hit"  you need to be here to help me !!! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	I just had a thought... have you considered asking NVC to close your case if they don't like the birth certificate?  that way, you could work directly with the embassy to see if there is indeed a problem Well, I don't want to close it but if they would just complete my case and let the embassy decide it would be nice..  But they told me they can't send it to the embassy without the birth cert.     We should hear something this week.   OMG I just want to buy my ticket and at the very least, know when I am flying down to be with my husband. Can the petitioner apply for Financial aid for college? The thing is I have 0 income, my dad is the co-sponsor and his income is a little above the poverty line. And he thinks that either I won't get financial aid or there going to deny my husbands visa. I'm a us citizen. On one of the grants they ask me if dependant and then ask for my parents info. And on another grant they just ask for my husband's income, and they will give a heavy grant because my husband's income is way below the poverty line for both of us.(since his income is in Indian rupees) and I'm waiting for a case complete and it could be risky? OK, this is what I did..   I am the petitioner but I am not a dependent of anyone . I actually have dependent children.  Seeing your post reminded me to fill out my FAFSA which I was ignoring for the last few months.  I just filed about an hour ago. For myself and my almost 18 year old son.    For  you, the FAFSA is based on your parents income. I doubt it will matter at all.  I qualify for about $3300 in Pell Grants. It has nothing to do with supporting my husband when he gets here.   the only question I had when filling mine out this morning is that I had to say I am married, then I had to say I filed head of household.  A pop-up window came up asking me if that was correct, and if not, go correct it.   It asked for my husbands income so I  just put '"0" and it says if your spouse doesn't have a SS# to just put 999-99-9999.  So that is what I did. I am sure they will question me..  but whatever...  we'll see what happens.  You will have to answer the questions about being married.  That may have an effect on the amount to receive   You should be fine though.   Go ahead and get your student aid. This is a continuing and deepening trend. This can include access to Social Security benefits   So, social security might not be available to green card holders. Before you change your plane tickets once you get a July interview, you can always try with the US consulate and see if they can move your appointment to June sometime. They have cancelations from time to time. You never know. I will try my best to change my wife's appointment in Casablanca once an inteerview date is set and once they receive the file.   Good luck You should be getting an interview this coming week  or next week at the latest.   I hope I get  my CC and they schedule me ASAP. Its time to retire. They were looking in to Social Security.  If  you can collect SS as a permanent resident, then what is the point of becoming a USC if you get the same benefits? IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	I forgot to state that i got both checklists. A fake checklist for the IV and a real one for the AOS on the same letter. The IV package was not yet reviewed and the AOS checklist was generated. The NVC representative told me as they have not yet opened the IV package, the checklist for IV must be false and generated as your AOS package has been reviewed. But as i stated my IV checklist was very basic and asked for the whole package. Don't worry, they just didn't get to it yet.  Send in what they want for the AOS  ( if they asked for something )so you don't waste time and then wait for them to review the IV package. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - May 2014	Well here it is..... the dreaded 3 day Holiday Weekend  ( I used to love so much)     Last night I went out to eat with my 22 year old daughter at a local bar/restaurant, KC's Alley.  I was sending pictures via Whatsapp to  my husband as we ate.   This is what my life has come to.... sending pictures as I do things...  My husband and I used to eat there.   He sent me a picture of his front yard because he was chilling out on his front porch.   ( super BIG SIGH)     I so want this to be over.  I know I shouldn't rush time but I just want it to be next week so we can all get our CC's. There are so many of us who are due.   If they were working on May5th on Friday I am estimating a CC for me by Wednesday.  Our Birth Certificate was scanned on May 8th....    I hope the reviewers have a quota, otherwise it could be a slow moving Tuesday. My husband called nvc and he was given the case number, he was told the case number was available few hours ago, he was told the IIN was not available yet. Atleast am a bit relief and its more like a birthday gift to my husband because his birthday is today. We'll just call back on tuesday to request for the IIN. Soloenta your cristal ball is damn so right. I guess I'll need more predictions from your cristal ball. Lol. Some operators don't like to give the IIN number.. so I bet if you call back and talk to another operator, they'll give it to you. Do I (the petitioner) have to send mine as well? I had my name changed after getting married, so my passport and social security cards don't even match anymore. My passport is the only thing I have with my maiden name on it.   If I do need to send mine as well, will the fact that it has my maiden name on it, while nothing else does, matter? Thanks.
