if your tax return has 1099 income, then YES, but you could ask a supervisor if they can let you bring it to the interview  but I doubt that will work

just printout another AOS barcode coversheet and mail that 1099 ASAP.   Last week preferably

Well that is what I thought but when my husband called to check even before the 60-day notification, they mentioned that they had both packets and had actually scanned in the last packet on 21st July. Hence my hope that all my packets are being reviewed together.

But anyway, after dealing with all that happened with the USCIS and now what's going on with the NVC, nothing would surprise me. These guys don't seem to care much for genuine applications and the impact this very long process has on relationships so I'll keep hope alive but won't hold my breath.

if you mailed them in separate packages on different days.. they will only review the mail as it comes in.  They have way too many pieces of mail to route through and look for yours.  Go by the last day scanned.    Sorry, maybe I got the date wrong in my last post

Lemme say that I finally decided to stop being a passive observer of this forum and create a VJ account because of you, Soloenta. You and some of the other members on here are so much fun that I just had to say something to you :)

Thank you all for making this very painful journey bearable.

My 60-day letter says documents were received on 25th June which is when the bulk of IV checklist response was mailed. However the Singapore Police certificate which took about 15days to complete was received on 18th July. Just keeping my fingers crossed that since they are still reviewing my earlier documents, they will include the Singapore report as well and not give it an additional 60days from 18th July.

Wish us all a happy ending to this immigration ordeal.

they review the mail as it comes in. They will not go look for a piece of mail to complete a file. Your last scan date is the date the police certificate was scanned.   JULY 18TH.

My husband did not send his returns. Just his w 2 and 1099s for the last three years. I did tell him to get his returns online but he is too hardheaded and wont listen to me. I dont know if we are getting a checklist for that O really pray that we dont. I cant control that situation anymore

it takes 3 seconds to print the transcripts from the website.  If I were you, I'd send them with another AOS barcode coversheet.  I would bet you're getting a checklist.  You don't have to send W2's with the transcript HOWEVER, the embassy asked me to bring mine to the interview.  But NVC didn't want it .  and I only sent my 2013 tax transcript . I  never provided 2012 /2011 income amounts not even on the AOS.

I am posting this again in case y'all didn't see my last post.    There has been a few posts about police certificates.

and just an FYI,  the police certificate in Costa Rica says its valid for 3 months BUT the embassy says its only valid for 30 days.  That is why ours wasn't needed at the NVC stage. My husband questioned the 3 month validity date and they told him its good for only 30 days.    Call the embassy and ask about your police cert. Don't rely on what is printed on it

Laurel Scott Chat Log 8/6/2014

Laurel: Good morning everyone.

Laurel: The big update at the moment is that the NVC is finally admitting that it is overwhelmed. The agency is now sending notices to everyone stating that their response time is 60 days from the date they receive any document, inquiry, or form. While this newly announced response time is frustrating, it hopefully indicates that the NVC will be more careful about reviewing files before sending requests for evidence (RFE). The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is in the midst of putting together an assessment of attorney complaints regarding the NVC. The NVC has had a long history of sending RFEs for documents that were already submitting and do not describe what, if any, problem there was with the already-submitted documents, BUT recently the frequency with which this occurs has skyrocketted. AILA does not put together assessments of attorney complaints unless there is a spike in problems, so AILA's actions indicate unusual, widespread problems at the NVC.

Laurel: The best advice for people going through NVC processing is to expect for it to take several months and not to be surprised if you get an RFE for a document that was already submitted. In the past NVC processing would normally take one to three months. You should now expect for it to take three to seven months. This may present problems for people from countries that require a police certificate as it is possible that your police certificate will expire while your case is pending at the NVC and you will have to get another

Her husband didn't "listen" to her.

That's sad.   My husband and I worked together. Way back in the I-130 stage, we got everything together and I kept it all here until we needed it for the NVC.  All I had was time when we were waiting for the I-130. I am the USC and I spent hours reading about the process. I assume he could have read Saylin's WIKI at the very least.               It is such a shame to lose time for "not listening"

Sometimes things are outta ur control. I already mentioned I m the beneficiary and my husband wasn't believing the fact that tax returns can't be sent alone. I got to the point where I got tired of arguing and said that fine send whatever u want. That's the reason I have been so anxious all these 45 days because I know what's coming. I realized the second he sent as well that he screwed it up but I couldn't do anything about it. U have everything in ur hands ur case in different.

probably should have sent the WIKI to him .     its such a waste of time to make a huge mistake like that

Yes I know jmsumner got it :( our sponsor ordered the transcripts but when they arrived they found something wrong in that. So husband sent only their returns since we had already waited for so long and didn't want to waste more time. So let's see what happens now.

so after hanging on this thread for months and reading the wiki,  you sent the tax returns WITHOUT the W2's & 1099's?   The Sumner's got checklisted for W2's that didn't even exist....

If I were in your situation, I would have sent the W2's   the second I realized I screwed up.   Have you been sitting around all this time hoping you won't get a checklist?   " so let's see what happens now"

So I called this morning and was told that Sept. scheduling is over and I didnt get in. I am crushed. So even though CC about two weeks ago, still nothing. I am just dumbfounded at the incompetence or lack of give-a-$hit of the US immigration system for LEGAL immigration. How hard is it to have a damn shared calendar and to schedule the damn thing the same day you give a CC? :(

HOLY SH!T   I can't believe it !!     I would keep calling.  My CC was June 4th and my interview wasn't scheduled until the 11th.  They tried telling me the scheduling was complete on June 4th.   And of course... you know me by now....  I kept calling because I didn't trust anything they said.        DvMan....  please keep calling.  I am pulling for  you !!   WE ARE TSC BUDS !!!

Heads up fellow CC'ers. Round 2 of September scheduling just started.

Update guys on my unbelievably horrible morning.  I have just spent the past 4 hours on this.   1 hour of that was spent in floods of tears to my husband on Skye.  I look a mess!!

Spoke to NVC about the IV checklist.  They would not put me through to a Supervisor although Kendall, the girl I spoke to was very helpful.  Will report as follows:

Birth Certificate - Hubby requested a Supervisor Review of this yesterday and they won't do anything until they look at it.  I am adopted so only have an Adoption Decree. This was perfectly acceptable 14 years ago when I got my first Green Card but apparently not anymore.  We also sent an original letter from the General Register Office in England explaining why I don't have a Birth Certificate but I suspect they have rejected it because it is not a 'Certified Statement'.  Am trying to get hold of England and get this Statement.

Australia Police Clearance for Queensland - I have sent them a National Certificate that covers all 7 States but is that good enough for NVC - you bet your bottom dollar it is NOT!  They want one for Queensland where I lived for 1 year 15 years ago.  Spoke to Queensland Police - there were SO nice.  They are just fed up with NVC for keep requesting people do this.  They cannot do a fingerprint Certificate as I don't live in QLD but can do a Criminal Check Certificate so I am going to get that.  NVC don't want to see this but are expecting me to have it at the interview.  They think that QLD will send it direct to Consulate but they don't, they send it to me.  I might then email Consulate and see if they want me to send it on.

Singapore Police Certificate - tried to explain to NVC that they don't send this to NVC anymore and the paperwork that NVC is totally out of date.  That fell on deaf ears.  So, I have applied for this, will wait for it to get to my house and will then send on to NVC.

By the time I wait for all my 60 days reviews I might be lucky to be there by Christmas but probably January.

I am just stunned with it all.

Have a great day everybody.  Love XXX

I am the USC  and I am adopted .   I know in the US, when you are adopted, the courts make the change to the birth cert, so when ever I get a birth cert it is the version with my parents who adopted me.  I don't have any access to my closed adoption records ( although I did meet my biological mother when I was 27)   I can just go online to  www.vitalchek.com and order whatever I need.

If adoptions are the same in other countries, the court records should reflect the adoption and you should be able to get the correct birth cert.    NVC wants the Birth Cert because your parents are listed on it with your birth date.   Being adopted doesn't matter

Just reporting what I am being told Tico, I am sorry your USCIS trip was so long and overall experience so negative. Sure it has been longer than any of us originally estimated, but in reality what can you truly do about it? Honestly, sitting around moaning and groaning may help some people, but i have found trying to be positive works for me, I try and see the glass half full instead of half empty. And in my case, right about now? I am seeing the glass about 70% full.

Sure I wanted my wife here before our first anniversary in 26 days. Sure I wanted her here before her birthday and Halloween. I am happy if she is here before Thanksgiving. I am happy if she is here before Christmas. I am happy when she gets here, no matter what day that may be. I go see her every two months and we are non stop via whatsapp and every night via video. Sure it sucks sometimes, but guess what? Just get a little sugar and some water and we can sweeten those lemons right up. Think positive Tico because in the end It all works out...

Smile :)

Its a beautiful day in Philly, try to enjoy the day...because you are only given so many. Trust me, it could be a hell of a lot worse.

OK,  just trying to throw a little reality in your world of Unicorns and  sparkles.   Sometimes its better to look at the real picture than hope for something totally out of the realm of truth.    GOOD LUCK...

I was just throwing my experience out there.   It may or may not apply. Take it however you want  or anyone else reading this..    The point is...  THEY LIE...  They lied before and they lie now.

I went through this back in 2008 and 2013.   Both times were EXACTLY the same.. lies lies lies.

I am just reporting what I have been told, now three times. By two operators and a supervisor I just got a return call from. I have been given a date verbally on the phone, which was 60 calendar days from the date on the letter. Believe what you like, I will do the same. Actually? I think it will come before that.

yep... believe what you like.    with all the new approved petitions coming in and the backlog growing and growing....   I hope you get what you are hoping for...

I have been in this process MUCH longer than you and I have heard it all. ( ask anyone who has been in the game along with me)  Every single time they were blowing smoke  just to buy time....

People are not reading previous posts. 60 calendar days from the date on your letter. I have been told this twice by NVC on Friday and Monday.

I was told that a few times back in April, then told by a supervisor that it is ALWAYS business days.  They don't count the weekends or holidays. I would bet the phone operators have no clue why business days and calendars days even make a difference.  ( also told that by the USCIS because I called about the 60 day notices I received... also told it was business days... and told business days by Senator Toomey's office)

When you complain to the phone operator, more than likely, they hang up with you and forget you even said anything.  They are in a different building than the actually processors and they rarely even communicate. I have asked the phone operators to add notes from my phone call so the processor can see... and was told  " WE DON'T DO THAT"  I am guessing they have ZERO contact.

I was stuck at the Uscis. I had to face reality. You can be nasty all you want. I was pointing out that what they say is probably bs. If you only want to hear good things and live in fantasy land.... Maybe a trip to Disney world would benefit you. All the letters in the world are not going to make them pick up a specific file and process it . nothing is fair in this world. I am sure I don't have to say that more than once. I went through 11 months of pain just waiting for an approval. At least you have a phone number to call and get a person on the other end. The USCIS doesn't have that. I would bet a paycheck you will get the exact same response from the senators office that was in that letter from the NVC.

Yes I do know there is a backlog. The backlog doesn't explain why our DS-261 that we submitted on May 30th hasn't been reviewed, but someone else's that was submitted on June 20th has been. Even our AOS has been reviewed already and that was scanned in on something like June 16th.

I would say most people who submitted the DS-261 after us have their IV invoice now. I don't think the majority of us have been waiting two months for this thing. If it was everybody in May/early June that is still waiting, then I would understand and not keep pestering NVC. As it is, we've stopped pestering because we've all but given up. If they want to take another 60 days to look at it then what can we do? Nothing. It's still frustrating though to watch everyone else who filed the DS-261 after us wait for their case complete while we're still stuck on the IV invoice.

ETA: I never received the email everyone has been talking about so had I not been coming here every day, I'd have no idea.

I completely understand how you feel.  I watched everyone get approved before me when I was waiting for my I-130.  I think I was 1 of 3 left on the APRIL 2013 thread while everyone else was forwarded to the NVC.  When I was finally approved, alot of those people were still at the NVC.  I have no idea what is going on at the NVC.  Some are still here.

And yes, remember VJ is a tiny speck compared to the total amount of actual cases at the NVC. I feel bad for people who are NOT  on this thread because being here provides info you can't get from calling.  We see the trends. NON-VJers are forced to believe the lies.

Pressuring DOS/NVC can lead to results: Hire more staff... contract a competing agency... delegate document collection to consulates temporarily... checklist and forward... fast-track K3 visas... dedicate some centers to handle specific categories similar to KCC & Diversity Visa applicants ... etc.

Maybe  but probably not.   The letter went out to buy time. I guess they are hoping to get a handle on it.

I know USCIS is different than the NVC but I wrote countess letters while at the TSC, I joined in the VJ campaign and sent letters to all the addresses they provided PLUS local news and congressional offices and more multiple times..  My file sat for 11 months and 6 days.  I was in contact with Senator Toomey's office twice a week. Phone calls and emails.  They were very good about getting a response for me and forwarded a new one every week.  I sent an email EVERYDAY during the last two weeks. I don't think that did one bit of good.  The day I was approved was the day they updated the processing times to 5 months. That is when the backlog began. March 18, 2013.   They are aware of the backlog and that is what the letter was explaining.   The congressional offices are going to get the same answers and just forward the form letters.  Yes, they have a direct line but I think the answer they will get will be  the 60 day answer that was in the letter.    They probably won't forward the K3's because of the computer crash and not being able to issue visa's ( non-immigrant in particular)

as far as dedicating other depts. to work on certain visas....  That is that happened when all the files sat at the NBC ( mine sat for 8 months before they transferred our file to the TSC , who also gave us the 60day BS.... and it took twice that)

I don't see them fixing this for another few months... probably by telling the USCIS to slow down.....

The DACA renewals are coming very soon... so I am sure the USCIS will start slowing down again......

Hopefully they give our senators and congresswoman a little more. We've been waiting over 60 days.

What more are you looking for?  You already know there is a huge backlog. They sent a letter with an explanation.  They were bombarded with approvals from the USCIS.  I really don't think there is any more to tell.  They process mail in the order it was received.   They have a ton more mail to go threw.   Its a waiting game.  I feel bad for everyone.  This process sucks.

Hello VJ Friends,

Just re-posting my question as I didnt get any replies....Im getting docs ready for AOS & IV......I figured out in the wiki about the tax part but still wondering about the police checks,,...has anyone done this before? I just dont want to risk getting checklists....here my post from yesterday:

I just paid my AOS & IV Fees today (I have a lawyer) and I'm currently trying to get my tax transcrips from the IRS website but it looks like it's not working. Is it ok if I just send the Tax Return I got from my Tax Preparer in the AOS Packet? Also, I'm currently waiting for the Police Certificates....will I get checklisted if I provide proof from the embassy that we're working on getting it or should I just wait until we get the police certificates (about 3+mos)?

if the NVC requires the police certificate then YES, you will get checklisted.

It's been over 60 days for me and they still won't do anything. They don't need to cover their arses when there's no accountability to anyone in the first place.

The letter is to cover their rear-ends. Now when all the senators and congressmen call, they can refer them to that letter which will make those inquiries a waste  of time.   And I  get the feeling they set the notices to go out automatically at 30 days. I am starting to doubt they are working OT.

Sure why don't you give us the link so we can go see what we can do or at least sign any letter that might be sent?  But then they take so long by the time we are gone from here the problem is fixed but it's worth a try. :D.

a letter won't do anything. They already acknowledged the problem and sent a letter . they covered their butts. I just think they under estimated the wait time. They did the same thing at the USCIS last year. The NVC can't handle the flow of approved cases coming from the service centers. So they fixed one problem and now they are faced with another. Maybe they can hire more people when the year is over and the new budget kicks in. I don't believe ÑVC is run by fees collected like the USCIS.

I remember the notice I received when my I130 got transferred to TSC. It said I would receive a decision in 60 days Well. .60 .days came and went. It actually took just shy of double that. I don't want to piss anyone off, but the back log is huge. They even sent a notice about it.. I didn't even get that from the USCIS. They can't give a time frame because they just don't know. Its the USCIS all over again. I feel so bad reading this thread. The I130s are getting processed super fast and are still getting sent to the NVC. I hope they hire some more people.... But even with that, they still need to be trained. They really need to revamp this entire process. Its is completely broken. Sorry that you all are going through this.

Hello all! Writing this from our awesome road trip! We're currently just outside of Rochester, NY (came from Vancouver BC) - sorry Saylin, I didn't get to Fargo to teach you how to french braid your hair... we decided to go through South Dakota and see Mt Rushmore and Deadwood and Wall Drug. Just checked on CEAC site for the first time since we left Canada, and my AOS fee has changed to N/A! Is that still a thing? Should I call for a case complete?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.....CALL CALL CALL
