The highlight of my day was going to the FedEx facility and sending off a package to the NVC ( AGAIN)  it contains the certified copy of my husband Birth Cert and I also enclosed a print out of the NVC instructions highlighting what is required for Costa Rica regarding the Birth Cert and the Police Cert. The very best part is that  it only cost $8.18 because I was able to sign up for an account through my job which gives me a huge discount at FedEx ... Last package I sent was $25.    My husband used the account number and checked off bill recipient and I never got charged for the package he sent from Costa Rica.   I asked how much I owe and she told me there wasn't a balance..  So something good did happen I guess.   Maybe I'll give a call to the NVC since the reviewers had all day to look at my AOS correction and Joy and Arthur have gone home for the day.

Just updating- I was approved 4/11 for both the  I-130 petition and the I-129F.

Got a case number Friday from NVC and today called again to double check it was for the I-130. The lady confirmed that it was in fact for the I-130 and the I-129F (K3) will be administratively closed. I also got the Invoice Identification Number today too!! It seems quick to me, but hey, I'll take it!

Just reporting back because some were wondering whether they gave me a K3 case number- but no, it is for the 1-130 petition. Either they are working fast at NVC or it has something to do with filing both petitions? Who knows!

You do have a K3 case number and its most likely one digit off from your I-130.   The K3 is a waste... they close it and you are forced to go with the I-130

The paralegal is arguing with me about this issue, she said the B-2 is a visitor visa, now I don't know what to say.  Did you answer no for your DS-260 or anyone else has any input?  thanks I am going nuts here....

My husband applied for a visa in Costa Rica. He was issued a 10 year visa. When he entered the US, he was given 6 months on a B2 visa ( tourist)  I answered yes to that question because he was issued a visa.

I don't know how it works with a Canadian citizen especially since you never applied for one.   I do know the B2 is a tourist visa. The lawyers don't know everything.

Hello VJ!
Alhamdulillah, I got my case number today :) so my question is what is next ? Do I wait for my IIN number or can I is started ?

You should have asked for it while you were on the phone..  Some operators don't like to give it to you. If you get a big fat NO, then call back.

My husband went to the doctor this morning, he  has the flu...  Funny that he just got the flu shot for  immigration .  .   They gave him an injection and some antibiotics.... I didn't think antibiotics were given for the flu, but maybe I'm wrong... or maybe just in Costa Rica.

hello, how much time did you waited for the I-601A to get appvd???

Im not a candidate for that waiver since my husband is in Costa Rica. we have to file the I-601 after our interview... thats why I am in such a friggin hurry. The average processing time for the waiver @NSC is 6 -8 months     The I-601a's are around 4 months.

A "Joke" on the side:

I think your case so far has encountred all possibles delays known from USCIS to NVC!!!!

did you irritate them in a previous life????

ha ha.... this is my second time petitioning  BUT I never went through the NVC. I did a K3 that last time.. but that has nothing to do with it I'm sure.

I think it is the DACA and I-601a's that nailed us all back at this time last year... and then the UN-trained staff at the NVC that happens to be the thorn in my side recently.  I didn't think it could get any wors than waiting 11 months for an approval.. Dang.. I was wrong

Wow, if this was the process of third world country I would understand! but this is the USA we are talking about! Top of the Top (???)

This is just ....., I don't even know how to describe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:wow:  :wow:  :wow:  :wow:

I know... right???    I think the reviewer was new or something....  Not all birth certificates look pretty like they do here in the US.    The legal sized paper probably threw them off.... but still....  I have to suffer through all this mess.   and its obvious they didn't read the instructions on the country they were processing...  I can just see that person goign through my papers... " oops no police certificate... CHECK !!!    I don't see a birth cert......CHECK !!!!!!     #######???

What irritates me more than anything is the fact that my lawyer doesn't know what income amount to use on the AOS. I literally argued with him  but he sent his version  anyway.  If Immigration is your specialty, shouldn't you know the basics??  Just sayin'

This is probably a really dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure: my wife is filling out the DS-260 right now and we're at the section on children. We just had a daughter here in Poland and are going to get her CRBA this week. The question: "Is this child immigrating to the U.S. with you?" on the DS-260 is only referring to children that aren't U.S. Citizens, right? I know dumb, but had to ask. Thanks.

Did you call NVC today? anything new?

Yep, called this morning but I didn't expect anything new since I called around 10pm on Friday night. They are alot of things, but SUPERMAN is not one of them. I will allow them today to get a move on. I will call tonight.

I talked to Cindy. She told me she could see that the file was with a supervisor for the requested review and made a comment that "at least the file is where it is suppsed to be"   I guess they see alot of mistakes ... I hope they ( at the very least) accept my corrected AOS. Then its just the police cert removal and for someone with half a brain and decent eyesight to accept the original birth cert we sent.  I am sending the certified copy once I pick it up at FedEx this afternoon. jsut to be safe.  but they should absolutely accept that cert. This is just ridiculous.  Oh and Cindy agreed with me that since the reviewer went ahead and checklisted us for a police cert taht wasn't even required, they probably didn't have a clue what they were looking at for the Birth cert.   I pray that they supervisor fixes these problems and I get a CC soon !!!   I am angry that we have to pay for their mistakes.  Time is so valuable these days.

I have a question...when you call the NVC during the day, are you ever passed from the Customer Service people to Adjudicator people?

I called last Friday night, after 5 p.m.  Agent Jack was lovely, but he had to put me on hold to ask someone else how to interpret certain "codes" he found on our file.  He seemed to indicate that we'd be getting a checklist (our State in Australia sends the PCC directly to the Consulate, so, of course, it is missing).  He also seemed to indicate we'd need two PCCs - one from Queensland and one from Victoria - which is totally incorrect.  Something he said sounded like they were waiting for Sydney to tell them what to do.

We have gotten no checklist - so I'm confused.

Do you think it is worth it to try to call on Monday (after Sydney might have replied to any questions) and see if I can get any better info?  ( I'll know if Joy or Arthur answers that I'll be toast.)  Can the customer service people really see what is happening on the files, or are they limited to certain fields or "codes"?  If we don't get answers within the next 3 days or so, we can kiss a June interview goodbye...

Thoughts from those of you who are daytime callers?  Any wisdom from Aussies from NSW or QLD who might have had a similar experience?

Sukie

I just found out that you can ask to speak to a supervisor. I actually was able to speak to one the other night.  He said he would "personally" get my physical file and comb through it to re-review the birth Cert.  I was told to call back Wednesday night and ask for him.   So if this works out, it sure beats waiting 30 days for a random supervisor..  Who knows....

The daytime operators are snootier than the night shift for sure.  I have had really nice people every time I call at night. And yes, Monday is horrible because Reese, Joy and Arthur are working.

I can not wait for today to be over. Can't wait for Monday. Since we started this whole process I now despise weekends. Maybe once this is all said and done I will be able to enjoy them again. Hopefully some action from NVC this week. Come on Case #'s and CASE completes. Everyone is patiently waiting. Good luck to everyone.

I second that ! Weekends suck ! :protest:

Tomorrow I will receive the "certified copy" of my husband's birth certificate and then when I get home form work I will high-tail it over to the Fed-ex office and mail it out to the NVC.     Hopefully they will review the corrected AOS that has been sitting there since April 18th. Hopefully they will re-review the case and remove the police cert requirement and they will open their eyes and see the original birth cert staring them in the face.    Not holding my breath....  :clock:

Fingers and toes crossed for a good week for everyone here !

DUDE,  get your panties out of a bunch....   do whatever you feel like...   If you feel like you want to load up your IV package;..... GO FOR IT.. but its not required.    I suppose you are nervous... so if that makes things better .. cool.

I had a conversation with an NVC operator who told me things get lost and overlooked way more than we could possibly imagine.  I for one don't want to send anything that is not required.

and YES, it could be a reason ( notice I said ''possibly'' in my previous post?)  nobody knows the real reason.....

I stand by my post...  NVC is for visa processing only.  The USCIS asks for proof of a relationship and the embassy might want to see more proof  but the NVC is only interested in processing your visa.

If you send all the ''middle loading''  you are just making their job more difficult by making them page through numerous papers to get to the documents they require,  (possibly a reason why things get over looked or lost)

and don't worry,  I am not insulted.  I laughed out loud   especially since you only joined VJ on April 22nd of this year....

YES YES YES YES !!

DO it !

DO not listen to those on here who do not know what they're talking about.

You are doing something called "middle-loading".  This is good practice

Your evidence WILL have to be reviewed by the CO prior to the interview and will have a good POSITIVE IMPACT on the application.

If there's any new evidence that's new (since the i-130) , put that on top of all other evidence.

excuse me  but the NVC is only for processing the VISA .. they don't give a rats A$$ about  your ''middle loading''   you are adding many items that they have to weed through while looking for the required docs.  Take all your ''middle loading'' in a bag to your interview   I have already done this before... so don't talk about others and say they don't know what they are talking about.

and seriously.... do you honestly think the embassy makes up their mind before you even step foot in the building???  Why have an interview then???

I've been through an interview, They looked through my pictures. Asked a few questions. Never asked for joint accounts or  naming beneficiaries . Only asked for my current tax returns,  They asked us each to write out how we met , dating and relationship details.  that was it.

Have you been to an interview???

Hey guys - Did anyone send in additional proof of bona fide marriage (ie pictures, timeline, letters, etc.) with their IV package?

You are already approved, why would you send in anything like that?  The NVC is only processing the paperwork for the Visa. If you think you still need it, take it to the interview.  Those are the people you need to convince

OK, so what I am asking is did the case numbers look the same as far as format for the CR1/IR1 and the K3? Here is what I have. CRO2014621XXX  . Last time I called they said they would close out the K3 if they received it the same time as the CR1/IR1, so I'm like 99.9% sure the NVC number is for the immigrant visa. I just thought maybe someone would know the number format K3 NVC numbers take, as I can't find that info online.

my case numbers were exactly the same except the last number. My i130 ends in 003... k3 ends in 004. So they were the third and fourth files logged in for Costa Rica that day. K3 closed 2 days later. It was super unusual to get case numbers assigned the same day as being received. Pure luck... now I'm agonizing over the birth certificate fiasco. This process sucks

I was looking at my husband's birth certificate again. I have a copy here. The stamp on it even says declaration of birth....and another oval stamp from the judicial something something...with the date and then along the side it has the city. Book number and page number where it is recorded.. and that is hand written. There is also a red prINTED Number all the WAY ON top next to the letterhead from registro civil. It also has a stamp from registrador auxiliary. . San jose....hospital san Juan de dios Costa Rica.

I am not sure how original They want it to be. Haha. Hopefully when i call the nvc supervisor back on Wednesday i will be able to explain this to him. This is the biggest joke EVER

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what a K3 case number would look like vs. a CR1/IR1 case number?

I filed both petitions, both were approved, yesterday

called NVC and gave them the USCIS number from the approved 1-130 petition and was given an NVC case number that looked like this:   CRO2014621XXX

I typed this number into this link https://ceac.state.g...AKjMWCuebHqOw== under "Immigrant Visa" and it accepted it, so I am 99.9% sure this is for the CR1/IR1 and not the K3, but just thought I'd ask to triple check because someone on another thread was wondering if it could be for the K3 as I received the case number pretty fast.

both of my files were received on April 1st. Assigned case numbers the same day. K3 was closed 2 days later . The k3 is a waste.

When I got a checklist asking for documents that they said were not certified copies, I emailed the NVC and put it to the attention of the DR, which is where the mailed checklists go. My case was completed within 24 hours, instead of the BS 30 business days BS, so that may be worth a try for you to do. I demanded that they pull the files immediately and that I would not sit back and wait because someone did not bother to take the time and see that clearly there was an embossed seal on the documents.

A monkey could do a better job than the buck eejits reviewing the files.

Same advice as to what I advised for Donkey81. Try emailing and put it to the attention of the DR to get them to rectify their mistake and complete the case.

THANKS COLLIE !!!   GOOD IDEA...  at this point I am very good at writing letters to immigration..

Just sent one off....in the subject line I put  ATTENTION DR DEPT **** URGENT***** (case number)

then I explained the 3 DUMB checklist items.

then I pleaded with them to please re-review my file.

My poor husband is standing in line at the Registry getting a certified copy of his birth cert.  I hated to send him down there and he is pissed because we already sent the true original.. so monday I will receive the certified copy and I guess I'll just send it to them..  all a waste of time on everyons part.. but I guess we are at their mercy

It really is, I feel like throwing in the towel with frustration! I just spoke to a lovely lady at the call centre and she said that my UK certificate was not in the file. IT WAS!! She's put in a 'Supervisor Review' so 30 business days to look for something that was right in front of you all along #winning NVC.

at this very moment, my husband is at the civil registry getting a certified copy of his birth  certificate.  They have the original.   What more could they want??? So the wasted time, the extra money and all this anxiety for a certificate that is already in front of their face

Police certificate is not required at NVC for Costa Ricans. They get special instructions from the embassy and it is to be brought to the interview. 3 agents at NVC read that to me, a supervisor at NVC is confused why they asked for it and the embassy told my husband not to go get it until he gets the instructions.  SO why did I get checklisted for it. And now we have to wait 30 days for them to correct THEIR mistake..

Agent Kendall told me that these mistakes happen more than we would ever know... It could be that the agent over looked it  but my guess is that since the chimp agent who reviewed my documents didn't read the instructions on Costa Rican requirements, I can also assume they have NO CLUE what an original birth cert looks like.  THe original is 34 years old and its from Costa Rica.. not exactly up with the times. but it is the true original.

Lucybelle is having the same problem with her certified marriage certificate.    NVC is saying it isn't a certified copy....   It says it right on the marriage certificate.  She already got 2 checklists.  Its a nightmare

Ok guys i need a suggestion. We recently got a checklist only because my husband left one space blank and didnt write N/A so seeing how you can get a checklist even because of such petty issues I was wondering if I need to send in a print out WITH MY CIVIL DOCS saying that according to travel.state.gov I do not require a PCC for Saudi Arabia OR Pakistan? Should I? Because we cannot afford any more delay we are already waiting for our consulate change email's reply since the 31st of march

SUGGESTIONS PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE

Call the NVC and ask to speak with a supervisor. Ask them to request a supervisor review.. Same thing happened to me yesterday !  The supervisor didn't understand why they even requested a police certificate... THEY CAN'T EVEN READ THEIR OWN INSTRUCTIONS

Chimpanzees can't read...

So p***ed with NVC right now. I've just received a checklist for two police certificates - one UK and one Australian. And now they have introduced a fingerprint certificate for Australia which cost $170. I sent the UK police certificate with my IV package and a statement from the Australian Consulate website saying that the Australian Certificate has been applied for and will be sent direct to the Consulate upon interview. So they know this, so why the checklist? I have never seen or heard of instructions that I have to get a fingerprint certificate - has anyone else?? I'm going to call to see if I can get a case complete and then take the fingerprints with me when I go for my interview. I am so fed up with this process. ARGHHHHHHH!!

Yep, I barely slept last night either.   I am sick over this.   Their instructions state ORIGINAL OR CERTIFIED COPY.. so they have the original birth cert from 34 years ago on yellow legal sized paper with stamps and everything on it.  You can't put that kind of paper in a copy machine and get a copy like that.  Since they went ahead and checklisted me for the police cert  even though it is NOT required at NVC I can only assume a monkey was processing my case and they have no idea what an original birth cert looks like from Costa Rica.   UGHHHHH

The supervisor told me he is removing  the police cert checklist item because it is NOT required and he said he doesn't even know why they even asked for it.   My husband even called the embassy and they told him to wait until they receive the file at the embassy and he gets the instructions before he gets the police cert.  3 agents at NVC told me the same thing.. so why can't they read their own instructions on what is required in the IV package.   #######????

Husband is on his way right now to the registry. He is hoping he will get there before the lines form.  The to Paseo Colon for the Fedex store.  What a waste of time

I'm so sick over this Birth cert thing. I called again  and spoke to Kendall. She was so nice. She told me it doesn't say anything about the birth cert being a copy. Usually when it is the wrong one they put notes in the file. There are no notes.   she let me talk to a supervisor.. He was super nice. He will personally review my file and I am supposed to call back Wednesday night and ask for him.

He said he has no idea why they check listed me for the police cert. He said it is not needed for Costa Rica. ( which I already knew)  There are 3 supervisor requests now.  One for the police cert and two for the birth cert.  I asked them why I need to pay for their mistakes by wasting time waiting 30 days for them to RE-review my file. I guess that's why he said to call on Wednesday.   Kendall told me there are more mistakes than we think and this happens alot and Since there are no notes about the birth cert, they might have just over looked it.   :dead:

My husband is sick and now he has to go to the city and get another birth cert and FedEx it to me.  WASTE OF MORE MONEY UGHGHGHGHGHGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH   I am not taking any chances incase the supervisor decides the original is not acceptable ,  I'm just mailing the certified copy anyway.....

Called NVC and they want an original marriage cert even though I sent in a certified copy. Asked my senator to request another supervisor review because no way in hell I'm sending my original certificate to those brainless fuckwads who can't read CERTIFIED COPY on the paper.

#######????

they told me 30 days for a supervisor review.... did yours take that long?

Calling NVC now. Evidently I do need to send in proof of emolument even though I'm abroad and everyone here and in NVC has told me differently. Also, I was told there were "questions" about IV packet as well. Wonder if it's the same as lovemytico- about birth cert.

Lucybelle,  what does your husband's birth cert look like???

Oh my god, I'm sorry. Instead of a checklist, this could have been your case complete. I really hope it gets reviewed soon.

yea, tell me about it.. I'm sick over this.  I just hope they review it and decide the processor is a moron....  My mother-in-law is confused.  She said that is the original. I'm not sure what they think a birth certificate from a 3rd world country from 34 years ago is supposed to look like...

I'm about to call again to see if they finished reviewing everything. I was told that they weren't even finished reviewing everything.....  Maybe.... just maybe I put in a supervisor review request in time... I can wish can't I ???

Called Lawyer and they verified that they sent to original birth cert.... Called NVC back and talked ot Jean.. She put us in for a supervisor review because I challeged them.   It is absolutely the original. It is just really old looking. It has the stamps on it and the numbers of what book and page it is recorded at the registry. Also a second page with more stamps.

I am sending my husband all the way to San Jose tomorrow just to get a certified copy just incase and I will send it again !!  #######??? and Jean told me I don't need to get it translated since its going to a spanish speaking embassy.. ( not sure I will believe her  but they have the original translation in the original package)     Not too sure about what they are telling me . Jean told me they are not even finished reviewing the package. So maybe they will see a supervisor request and get it done all in one shot. She did tell me Supervisor reviews take up to 30 days ( but doesn't everything at the NVC?)      I'm so angry.   This is a joke.  They have to realize that every country is different. Not all birth certs are pretty like the United States.
