IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCASE UPDATE AND NEED HELP

Case numbers have been removed from the original post and the quoting post.  It is never a good idea to post sensitive personal information such as case numbers, full names, addresses, birth dates, etc. as this puts you at risk for identity theft.  While you need to be a member to post on Visa Journey, you don't need to be a member to read Visa Journey so posting sensitive personal information makes that information publicly available.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsInterviews in San'a, Yemen

As this thread does relate to the CR-1 process and Site Administration wishes to keep all immigration process related posts together I am moving this thread back to the CR-1/IR-1 forum.

I will remind everyone that English only is to be used in the forums outside of the Regional Forums.  This has nothing to do with prejudice or racism but is a purely practical requirement as English is the one language everyone in the US is supposed to have in common - and this is a forum for immigration to the US.  Even though this thread is about a Consulate in Yemen, it is located in the Immigration forums and as such, needs to abide by the English only requirement.  If you absolutely have to post in another language then you need to be the one to provide the translation into English, whether you are using Google Translate, or not.

While this is the internet, this is also a privately owned website and is governed by the rules set out by Site Administration.  Site Administration has determined that English is the language of use on these forums except for the Regional forums where other languages are allowed.  When you became a member of Visa Journey you agreed to abide by those rules, accepting that if you did not there would be consequences.  Consequences include moving threads, removing posts and suspending accounts depending on the most appropriate action.

I will be editing the Arabic posts to provide a translation via Google Translate for these posts, but am posting the official warning that any further posts made in a language other than English and for which  no translation has been provided, will be removed.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFiling I-130 January, 2014

Please remember that this process if frustrating for everyone.  It is alright to vent, but you need to be aware that venting may trigger responses that you don't necessarily want to hear.  Freedom of speech goes both ways -and as Visa Journey is a private site, is subject to restriction by the Terms of Service. Instead of getting upset and responding, please give the benefit of the doubt to those who vent and respond, and try not to introduce any additional - and unnecessary - stress or discord into an already stressful situation.

Moderator hat off . . .

It may be useful for all concerned to remember that delays of immigration related benefits started long before the current administration was elected - and until immigration policies are drastically reformed - will continue long after the current administration ends.  The problem is not with the President - it is with legislation that is in drastic need of reform and creates a process that has long been in need of repair.  It was like this when I started my immigration journey 11 years ago and it is still like this.  If you want to see things change, then encourage your elected officials to support a comprehensive overhaul of the whole immigration process and stop the partisan power politics that is more interested in throwing up roadblocks than working together for the good of our country.

PhilippinesTo be deported for voting...
I feel sorry for her too.

When I first got my DL in Georgia I had to insist to the State employee that I did NOT want to register to vote. She kept trying to tell me how easy it was and I just needed to check the box and they would take care of everything. Finally I said that as a non-US citizen I was not eligible to vote. She seemed taken back by my statement and just said 'oh' as if she was not even aware of the fact. Since I was using my Canadian passport and my EAD as identification they were aware that I wasn't a citizen.

In a sense trying to get people to register to vote -which falls under federal legislation - at a State run organization where you only expect to get your DL or identification seems almost like a 'set up' to catch/lure unsuspecting foreigners - many with limited English skills - into an illegal situation not of their own making. I knew I wasn't eligible to vote but can you say that every new arrival to the US is aware of that? We still have many people - including Americans - who believe once you marry a US citizen you become a citizen as well. I think there should be some sort of leniency in this situation and in situations where someone is lured into an illegal situation not of their own choosing, especially when English is not the primary language of the individual involved.

PhilippinesGood Free Dating site
It does seem strange to have a thread supporting a dating site posted on visa journey which is for individuals who have already found their Life Partners . . . that being said, please refrain from making personal or insulting comments or comments that can be construed as racist in origin.

This thread really doesn't seem to be a good fit for visa journey and I am puzzled why it was posted at all.

Philippinesjust curious about the warning on visa
Congratulations - yes, you need to open the plastic to get your passport out with the visa. Don't open the yellow envelope though. When you enter the US hand carry that envelope because you will need to turn it in - unopened - to the US immigration officials. It contains your whole immigration file of paperwork and you are carrying it back to the US for them. When you turn it over at the border, they will keep it and then forward it to the proper US immigration office near where you live so it is there for when you apply to Adjust Status (AOS - the next stage of the visa journey after you get married).

Philippineshte minister change our real wedding date when he filed our marriage certificate, and it really bother's us!!!
Moved from AOS forum

Is there a possibility that the Minister will write a statement saying that he performed the wedding service itself while your husband was still in the Philippines on December 29, however due to problems with the paperwork the actual marriage couldn't be registered until January 8th? Your official marriage will still have to be January 8th since you couldn't complete all of the paperwork for the December 29th date, but it would explain the apparent discrepancy of how you got married when your husband had already left the country. If you explain to the Minister that it is for immigration purposes only and not to cause him any problems, he might be willing to help out. Yes, you do need to be truthful at the interview and explain why there are two different dates. You may also wish to get affidavits (sworn statements) from others who witnessed your wedding that the actual ceremony was performed on December 29th and that they witnessed it. Good luck.

Philippinesjust venting out on a stupid civil surgeon
There are a number of civil surgeons who seem to be totally unaware of the actual USCIS requirements for different immigrants or they honestly just don't care. I suspect a lot of them view this as a quick and easy source of a nice chunk of money and don't want to forego their full profit. Definitely shop around to find a civil surgeon who is willing to give you just the vaccination information and not the whole physical all over again. If you need any vaccinations still you can get them at your local health department or even your family physician and then bring the proof with you to the medical appointment. If everything is complete or you have proof of completing your vaccinations then yes, use Dr. Arnold in Texas.

If you feel very strongly about reporting the civil surgeon you could always write a letter of complaint and send it off to your local USCIS office, asking them to forward it to the appropriate individual or section. I have no idea if it will accomplish anything, but you never know. At least it will help you feel that you have done something to try and correct the problem.

Thread closed for review - I didn't see the earlier report and just received another one now.

Ok, I am going to re-open this thread but with some concern. The offensive posts and posts quoting those posts have been removed. There were quite a number of rude racist comments made in those posts. There are some borderline racist comments made in some of the posts that remain as well. This issue is a sad and sensitive one. Please discuss it with respect for the multi-cultural nature of VJ and don't made broad generalizations about any one race or ethnicity. If further racist or offensive posts are made then I will consider closing this thread.

I am sorry - I did not see any earlier report or I would have removed the first of these posts much sooner.
