K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI think they lost mine!
I tried to go through the EAC numbers back when we were waiting for our case information - USCIS locked me out after about 5 status updates that weren't my number. Maybe things have changed since then so that you can check more case status numbers but it was more frustrating than it was worth as the sequential numbers were not all K-1s but a variety of other types of applications mixed in. And I had to keep trying numbers, then getting locked out and then trying some more and getting locked out again. I wrote down the numbers of other K-1 filers around me and was able to check some of those on a regular basis - they were all approved before ours was sad.gif . Anyway, good luck on getting your approval soon - we waited 6 1/2 months for our NOA2 back in 2004. We were convinced ours was sitting on someone's desk as a paperweight while they were off on holidays.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWazzup with all the I-129F's filed on "Future" dates?
Interesting. It doesn't help the timelines at all if people are trying to 'predict' when they will receive the NOA1 or NOA2 - 'stuff' happens and your prediction may be way off but then the information is set in stone and can't be changed - and the time frames are then skewed into inaccuracy. You can predict - since the action is totally in your control - when you mail out the I-129f but you can't predict USCIS.

So, please do not enter the dates for an NOA until you have actually had that date confirmed - which doesn't happen in advance, therefore the most 'recent' date should be today's date - not tomorrow's or next week's.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsk-1 visa delay
Did they keep your passport? If so, then you just need to submit proof that all former marriages were terminated (in this case by divorce) and when they receive proof, they will put the visa into your passport, then mail you back the passport plus a large yellow envelope that you are not to open but to give to the immigration official at the border when you enter the US. I have heard that the Vancouver Consulate sometimes asks to see previous marriage certificates as well. I've no idea why, but if she has asked for that too, then I would submit both the documents to them.

You won't need a letter - the passport with your K-1 visa and the envelope are your proof of approval.

Are you SURE that the notice you just received was NOA1? Because it sounds like it should be NOA2 given your timeline. If it was the NOA1 it would say on it "receipt" and ignore the date on that, is there a "we received your petition on ####"

I hope that the notice you have is the NOA2 (notice of approval) otherwise you MIGHT encounter a problem. I hope you took a screen shot of the online status showing when it was actually receivied. I would think though that you would not have received NOA1 because I have heard of people simply having their cases returned because they didn't have the "met in the last 2 years" requirement. *fingers crossed* for you

I took a screenshot of our online status, just in case we need it later on

I would send the corrected information back with the RFE information along with a short covering letter saying you need to correct the information on the forms as you found out after you filed that you had the incorrect date. Calling won't help as the number is for a call center and not an immigration office. The RFE is linked to your file right now and will go back directly to the officer who is looking at your file, so that is the most direct way of correcting the information.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDon't you find it annoying???
Hi HandA,

Generally most people on VJ are kind and supportive - and most are going through the same sort of processes as others are on VJ just at different steps of the process. Unfortunately there are two other types that come to VJ as well - those who have finished their own immigration process and have forgotten what it felt like when they themselves were 'stuck' in the middle, and those who do not have any immigration involvement at all but are looking for a good place to 'troll' for excitement. I suspect you have come across some from the latter two categories.

You can look at the profiles of posters by clicking on their names next to their posts. When you read over their profiles you can get a clearer idea of whether they are themselves actually going through the immigration process and where they are - and be able to gauge the significance of their comments that way. If they have no information posted or if they have not been a member for very long then they may not have a lot of credibility. You can also check their previous posts and read over the types of comments they make by clicking on 'view recent posts' in their profiles. That can also help you see whether they are one of the useful members of VJ or if they are someone who really isn't interested in helping or doesn't know very much about the process themselves.

For posters that are rude or disruptive or insulting or judgmental, then please don't hesitate to click on the Report button on the lower left of their posts. This will send a link to that post to the moderators and we will come and take a look to see what is going on. While the majority of posters are real people with real experiences, there are some who are not and there are others who are out to cause problems. Letting the mod team know about them will help make things better and more supportive for all of us here on Visa Journey. :)

My envelope issued to me as a K-1 was completely sealed as well with no corner cut and no way to determine the contents except by opening.

Thank you for posting your fiance's story. What a harrowing experience for both of you, and I am so glad that he stood up for himself like that, and the Delta employee helped get it sorted out. Hopefully the airline official who opened the envelope has since been reprimanded and informed that she exceeded her authority so that others won't be subjected to such an experience through her ignorance. It sounds like the two of you make quite a team already, though, and I am glad your story has a happy ending. The best of luck to you and your soon to be husband in your new life together.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp please, Fiancee not allowed to board flight
I couldn't find out the exact situation your fiance is in (coming to US from Pakistan via France), but yes, it appears that citizens of Pakistan are required to hold a transit visa for France even if they don't leave the airport area. While the attached link is for Pakistan citizens living in the US to get the transit visa in the US, I would think the process would be the same for your fiance in Pakistan - he needs to apply to the French Consulate responsible for Pakistan for a transit visa that will allow him to land in France and continue his flight to the US. Here is the link - it does contain what he needs to do in order to get the transit visa. It appears he will not be able to take the flight he is currently booked on. Perhaps there is some way of re-scheduling it for a later date after he gets the visa or finding another flight that is direct to the US or lands in a country where he does not require a transit visa.

I'm sorry to hear your bad news - that is distressing after the long wait to have your fiancee arrive.

Once you are married she will need to apply for a green card. The K-1 gives her permission to come to the US to get married but it doesn't give her permission to live in the US so that is why she needs to file to adjust her status from non-immigrant fiancee to permanent resident. Part of the application includes the I-864 Affidavit of Support. If you are not able to meet the income levels on your own, you are allowed to use a co-sponsor - someone who does meet the income levels for their household plus your 'wife'.

Hopefully by the time she arrives and you marry you will have found replacement employment and won't need a co-sponsor. Good luck to you.

I just want to point out that we are all here to help and support each other. Making judgmental comments or calling someone a liar because their experience is different than yours doesn't help, and adds discord to an already stressful journey.

One of the things I have discovered over the time I have been on VJ is that each of our journeys is unique - not just because of the different consulates involved but also because of our different circumstances. Instead of accusing someone of lying, why not ask them why their experiences seem so different than yours or those with which you are familiar? You may discover that there are circumstances of which you have no knowledge, and they can make all the difference. If the person is indeed 'stretching the truth', then how does it make any difference to your circumstances? In the end, they are only fooling themselves. Your unique situation will continue to be your unique situation, regardless of what anyone else says.

So, if you cannot find a way to question or disagree respectfully, then please do not say anything.

It will be all right.

ARandMD:

Thank you a lot, really! I'm glad to hear a word that goes completely the same situation! So I rejoiced Tuesday and Wednesday because we changed the date on the USCIS - ua after nothing more. Now that can not stop to worry. Tomorrow begins a new week and views to be. blush.gif

Super, NVC says that an Express station. I hope that everything will arrive in Zagreb that correctly and quickly. And then it will be pripremaš You run and for the finale.

AandD:

And fully understand. We were terrible when we get a RFE, but we survived and met the approval. It is important not to lose the nerves and can not predict when you'll get approval, but be patient because you can not do anything. That means changing the date to work on your case. Usually soon after that came and approval, but be patient. This is a difficult process and should have a lot of strength to all. star_smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsmy useless vent

aww thank you kathryn, its nice to see things do work out.one of my biggest fears ( i have so many! ) is that for some reason our petition passes the expiration date or things dont work out because of the wait.its really assuring to see people who went over the five months time frame did get their noa 2

If the petition passes the expiration date and there has been no action on it from the Consulate, you don't need to worry. It will automatically be re-validated to allow time for the petition to be processed. This is actually quite common as in many cases the original petition expires before there is a chance to complete the processing.

Yeah, this process is tough on a relationship. Use this time as a chance to get to know your fiance better - try to make a game of it ie - questionnaires like 20 questions: "What is your favourite colour, 'what is the name of your first pet', just every day sort of stuff like that. Treat it like a game, though, and both of you do it. Find opportunities to spend time together on line. One of the things my husband and I used to do is share Sunday morning breakfast - he in Atlanta and me in Canada - and eat together. We talked to each other at least once a day even if just to say 'sweet dreams, goodnight and I'm thinking of you". We exchanged emails and discussed items of interest on the news together. I also started to check the Atlanta newspaper on line to get a 'feel' for my intended new home. It helped to make me feel closer to him as well as helping to pass the time. I didn't discover VisaJourney until just before my green card was approved in 2006 so yes, it was a very lonely time when it felt like there was no one else who understood our situation.

So, again, good luck and I hope you get your NOA2 soon- at least then you can feel like you are doing something and it helps so much.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsmy useless vent
Hang in there! Our K-1 petition took over 6 months to be approved as well - and that was back in 2003 (things haven't changed much in those years, have they?). My then fiance and I almost didn't make it due to the stress of that waiting, and when our approval came in it was somewhat bitter sweet because I didn't know if it came in soon enough to overcome his feelings that 'if it is taking this long something is wrong and maybe we aren't meant to be'. It really is the hardest part of the whole process! As you can see by my timeline, we did stick it through, though and will be celebrating our 7th anniversary this Spring. (We were married a year to the date that our I-129f was received with USCIS).

So - I promise you, things do get better and this is one of the hardest parts of the whole process. Good luck to you.

(Oh, and venting is never useless - it is needed to deal with the frustrations  ).

Patty (L) Paul - I understand she was replying to you. That doesn't change my official warning.

You may not have noticed but under my name in my profile it states "Global Moderator". That means I am appointed by the Administrator of Visa Journey to make sure that those who post on this website follow the rules. So, you see, I do have something to say about this topic - that the post broke the rules. The rule is that all of the posts made in the immigration sections must be in English so that the information is understood by everyone - not just you.

So, I will remind you and those who post, please remember that your posts are not just for one individual - they are for all people who read Visa Journey. This is an experiential forum and as the topic is immigration to the US where English is the official language, the posts dealing with immigration are to be in English. If you wish to use a language other than English you are more than welcome to do so in the Regional Forums.

I am not 'being mean' in saying this. I am merely pointing out the rules that you agreed to abide by when you signed on to become a member of Visa Journey. That being said, any further posts not in English will be removed.

I don't believe anyone said it wasn't worth it. I'm not the type to complain when things don't go as quickly as I like, either. I realize it's par for the course. However, I realize that everybody handles situations differently. Where some people panic and worry, others don't. Everyone on this site is here to accomplish the same goal and be able to talk to a group of people who understand what the journey is like

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS Big Fat Liars
A number of posts have been removed due to TOS violations along with posts quoting them. Acceptable parts of the quoting posts are returned below.

It is very unusual that any moderator needs to take this course of action in the K-1 and other immigration related forums and I find this disturbing. I am issuing private warnings as well, but the public warning is that personal attacks, judgmental posts and off-topic type of comments are not acceptable on Visa Journey. Discuss the contents of the posts - do not engage in back and forth bickering with each other about attitude or rights of what to say or not to say or take personal jabs at other posters. If you have nothing constructive to add to the discussion, then do not participate - it is not up to another reader not to read your post - it is up to you to post appropriately.

I'm with you, as people should be able to rant here. I should know, as I have been one of the biggest ranters, comparing USCIS to George Orwell's 1984, the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, North Korea, and Iran. Since a very calming person chilled me out (thank you Coconuts), I am trying hard to stay that way and so far succeeding.

well, you may have been ranting Sir and ive read all of them so far and aside from the fact that i enjoyed reading them, i cant deny the fact that you were trying to be helpful by encouraging members to do something aside from just complaining. You have said any possible way one should do or try to make things going or to get their cases be noticed & to get looked at.

I think you can complain and still be supercool! It's admittedly a frustrating process and part of the purpose of this forum is to seek support from others who are in the same situation. I personally get a lot out of reading these posts as I am also at my wits end sometimes during this long, painfull wait. Also I think it's especially hard right now for those of us that filed in the summer when the wait time was 100 days shorter and (maybe ingorantly) hoped we would go down the same path that has now been stretched beyond the horizon.

Supercool- you're still okay with me! I know we've been hearing it a lot lately but hang in there, some day soon in the future we'll be looking back on this. That's what keeps ME going.
