So regarding the form from the medical, Ben didn't receive anything. Will he need to call them to get it or will it be on file for AOS?

I'd be tempted to advise against sending multiple emails in short spaces of time.  This only serves to increase the volume of correspondence the Embassy have to deal with and almost certainly slows down their ability to get on with actual case processing.  The knock-on effect is probably unfair on everyone else.

If you have an answer from them regarding your interview, whether you like the answer or not, I would recommend leaving it for another week before contacting them again.

We can still be thorough whilst letting these guys do their jobs!

Just a thought.

Hearing the many stories that they aren't very hasty with the letters, I am trying to stay on top of things. I made my second email a bit more specific (if they still do not provide a date I will wait) but I want to know that I did everything I can to get him here as quick as possible in hopes he can accompany me to my cousins wedding! From what I hear, the emails are getting responses and actions, so I don't see the harm in that!

Does anyone know what the Consulate says about how long it will take to have your visa in hand? I've read so many different answers but I want to know if the Embassy gives you an answer for average time it takes!? Can't seem to find it!

I'm sure it won't be long... once you get NOA2 everything happens in a breeze. :)

You don't actually call up to arrange an interview - you fill in a form declaring that you're ready for one to be scheduled for you (after you have done your medical and the visa application form (DS-160). Then you just work around whatever date they give you! It's supposed to be approximately one month after they send the letter out, but mine was a bit earlier (I think because I mentioned I wanted to fly out mid-June...).

We said the same thing. Mid June is when he wants to fly! Hoping that he can be here for my cousins wedding which is June 21st!

Email them again! Especially if the case got updated again. :)

I just checked my email and I have an interview date! 5th June - which is exactly 3 weeks from now. The response you got seems to be one they'd send out just before actually getting the interview date. Keep trying!! :D

Thanks! I just emailed them again!!! Fingers crossed I get a date!!!

I emailed them yesterday and just got this in response asking about Ben's interview date..."Thank you for your inquiry. Embassy records show that the Immigrant Visa Unit has received the medical examination and forms required to process your application. Notification of the date and time of your visa interview will be sent to you within the next six weeks." Geeeee, that helps!!!! Should I email them again? Haha! I want that date!!!!

So I just sent an email too and I will keep doing so until we know the interview date. He has everything done, no reason they can't give him one! Lol! Our case status has been updated today to I'm hopful that means they have already set him an interview date!!!! Now to patiently wait to hear back from them! HAHA, yeah right!!! I can't do anything patient anymore! Knowing we are so close is only making me more anxious and impatient! :clock:

Hey Nikki, Jake got his letter from the embassy today--it's a plain white envelope with a small black stamp (casual, and off center on ours) saying Immigrant Visa Branch United States Embassy, then the London address. Inside it's a poorly folded single sheet of paper with info on it....our case was received on May 6th at the Embassy and his Packet 3 received today, May 10th.....hope that helps you decide what to do--though it's so nondescript maybe he missed it?

He got his yesterday! Thanks! :)

Nikki181FemaleUnited Kingdom2014-05-11 22:10:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2014 filers

Packet 3 is the letter from LND telling you that your case has been received and they are ready to receive your forms / medical. It is the letter form of CEAC's "READY" Status--keep the letter, you need to bring it with you to the interview. However, "returning Pack 3" is simply submitting the notification of readiness. Then you get your interview letter after the medical results are received by the consulate....

At least that's what the London guides imply.....

My fiancé still hasn't received packet 3 and our case has been marked "ready" since May 1st. He had his medical today and he already filled out his DS -160 and readiness form. Should he call the consulate and let them know he never received his letter?

Nikki181FemaleUnited Kingdom2014-05-09 14:47:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2014 filers

So our case arrived in London on April 28th and was marked to "Ready" on May 1st but my fiance has not yet received his letter (this is packet 3, correct?) from the Consulate. His medical is tomorrow, and he has already submitted everything else including his readiness form. I know everything should be fine and with the bank holidays it could've gotten delayed, but I still worry! That and I feel like maybe we should have waited for the letter to submit the readiness form, but I figured they wouldn't have marked it to "ready" if they didn't send anything out yet! What should I do??

Thanks! Was it moved to "Received" or to "Ready"? Technically our case got in on Saturday, but the consulate was closed and Monday was a bank holiday here, so just today DHL said it was officially signed for by the mysterious Daniel :) Just hoping the status changes to "ready" within a week or so, since Jake's medical is a week from this upcoming Monday!

It went from "In Transit" to "Ready" so it should hopefully be changed by Friday! Ben's medical is Friday and we already filled everything out including the readiness form! Ahhhh this is all getting so exciting! Remember like 4 months ago when we were all nervous from just submitting our petitions!?

Nikki181FemaleUnited Kingdom2014-05-06 13:18:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2014 filers

Hmmm do you see any other feb filers on VJ's timeline at CSC who are waiting? I'm sure there are some--I know, too, that once you get an adjudicator....that's your fate. I always wonder--what if said adjudicator goes on medical or maternity leave or vacation? If it's still within 5 months, does the adjudicator's stuff not get forwarded to another? I wish they made the process more transparent so we could at least know HOW people get randomly given their approvals or RFEs before others...wishing the best for you!

I do have a question for UK filers, though: how long after dhl tracking  showed your case had been received did your CEAC status move from "In Transit" to either "Received" (does it move to that?) or "Ready"? Thanks!

Mine took four days!

Well, I think for the interview itself in London they ask you to bring an official copy (the ones you have to pay for to be released to you) and then a copy of that copy (you will get to keep your actual copy, they will make a photocopy to keep--they just want to see the original)

Double check with the experts though on the London Guide? Or does this sound right to the rest of you?

Just copied this from the documents needed from the Embassy website...."Applications processed by the Embassy in London - You are required to obtain the original documents or certified copies, and one photocopy (with the exception of your passport and photographs) for yourself and each family member applying for a visa."

Original OR certified copies.

As far as I know it just has to be an original that's been issued by the government to you (Rather than photocopied). I'm bringing my original, handwritten long-form one (my parents happened to have it in a drawer in their house, conveniently enough...), though you can request an official copy.

Expedited! Good idea. And just as I was worrying about my own police certificate - it turns up! Going to book my medical now...

Oh ok! Yeah he has his original! I thought he needed a second certified copy to submit with his forms!

Thanks for the info! Luckily, Jake already has a certified birth certificate copy, and he's sending out his police form today and paying for premium services, which take only two working days to complete, and he's sending it so as to guarantee a Saturday 9 a.m. delivery/Monday business day processing. If my generous math is right, that's Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday--with a Friday mail out (estimating three working days in case they're slower, though if I'm paying for premium service, it better be TWO! :) )
That leaves a whole week to receive it by mail in time.....

We will still call on Monday once we know they've received it to make sure, though, just to check that it will be delivered in time. Thanks for the advice on that end :)

Wait a second! You need a CERTIFIED birth certificate copy?!?! I thought he just had to make a normal copy of his birth certificate!? He has the long birth certificate like he's supposed to have!

You can arrange the medical interview without the police certificate number?! I've been sitting around waiting for the certificate! Goodness - going to arrange that tomorrow, now. I ordered it on 15th April.

Yep! All you need is your case number! You need your police certificate for the medical itself!

How long ago did you order it? Took my fiancé almost 3 weeks to get it back. You can schedule your medical two weeks from now and hopefully you'll get it back in time!

Our case is in transit to London as of today and we got our specific date at the Knightsbridge medical! Holding out hope for others to get their NOA2s today :)

London embassy people--how long after ceac said your case arrived before you got notification of readiness by mail or ceac itself? Cheers!

London received my case on the 28th and was set to ready today! So 4 days! Everything has been flying by since our noa2!

Question though! My fiancé has his medical in a week from tomorrow...so is he not allowed to book his interview until his medical takes place and he has results?? Or after he fills out his readiness form can he call and schedule it for after his medical? I was unsure about that!

Hey All,

So I had my fiance pay the Visa fee (at BPI), and then went on the visa website to schedule my interview online. Everything seemed to be going smoothe, but then when I went to the final screen to pick a date it says "there are currently no appointments available"!!! Noooooooo!

I've been reading about the Philippines, and I think they must be swamped over there. I also just called, and they told me the same thing. Their advice is to keep checking the website. I'm hoping starting May they'll be opening for June. My birthday is in June and I plan to fly out to Manila for her interview. Fingers Crossed!

Oh no! Hope you get a interview date soon!

Does everyone go online to schedule the interview? (London for us) My fiancé has his medical on May 9th and the packet I sent him (affidavit of support and everything he needs from me) should be there in a few days. He hasn't got his letter yet stating they have received our case at the consulate, but as soon as he gets it he will fill out the DS-160 and the readiness form. Will he have to wait to schedule his interview until they get the results of the medical or can they see he has that scheduled and schedule his interview shortly after his medical? I'm a bit confused of the steps and process of all of that...I've read the London guide, but I was wondering if anyone was at that step now!

We got our case number from the NVC! I called last week. Still haven't received anything in the mail though and CEAC says "in transit" still even though it's been delivered (I tracked it on dhl) My fiancé scheduled his medical today for next Friday! Hopefully by then the Consulate will have everything together and all we'll have to do is fill out the DS -160 and the readiness form! :) :) :)

Had my London medical yesterday! That was a massive weight off my shoulders, my actual medical only took around 10 minutes half of which was spent putting pressure on my arm so I didn't 'bleed to death', the doctor was super happy because I have no medical problems or anything so I was the easiest case of the day! He did however say I was the palest person he's ever met, before peeping down my pants to 'check I am a woman'.

Now to wait for the interview!

Yay! Almost there! Did you wait until you got your letter in the mail from the US Consulate or did you schedule your medical as soon as you found out your case number?

Hey everyone again,

How long did your cases stay at the NVC, when you got them? Ours has been there since Tuesday and still says 'At NVC'?

Haha what a good feeling getting out afterwards.. Freedom!! Rich was grilled really hard the first and second time, as he came for three months both times. The second time they were like, "yeah? this is the last time you can come for three months." haha. I remember being soo nervous and so excited the first time when I got to the airport to pick him up but then I ended up waiting 2 or so hours so by that time I was just like okay okay let's get this show on the road, wasn't nervous at all haha. Ah, it's fun to reminisce.. I love hearing everyones stories.

They told Ben that he couldn't come back for like a year when he came through the second time because he was staying another 3 months! They told him he spent more time here than in his own country for the year! Lol! And then he almost got in the wrong side of the car! HA! But I do the same thing when I am there!

Nikki181FemaleUnited Kingdom2014-04-08 17:48:00

When I was at the airport the first time I went to see Zack the customs officer, asked me who I was going to see, I of course explained I was going to meet my boyfriend. He asked how we met and I told him we met on the Internet and this was the first time I was going to see him!

He looked at me like I was crazy and then blurted out 'have you ever seen catfish, because there's some absolute lunatics out there sitting in basements pretending to be young men' I told him of spoken to him over Skype and I was pretty damn sure he was only a little bit of a lunatic he replied 'well as long as your not found chopped up on the side of the freeway it's all good' I didn't know wether to laugh or cry :')

I'll never forget Ben's face as he walked out of customs the first time we met in person! They kept him for like an hour because he was staying for almost 3 months...they grilled him big time and he looked terrified! I felt so bad! The second time was a pain too but not as bad as the first! When I went there it was so easy. Lol!

YAY! Lucky you! Gotta say I'm a bit jealous! Lol! He wanted to visit but we decided to save money and just wait for him to come for good! Hopefully we won't be waiting for too long! It seems like it's right there, but just out of reach! And that's the worst! Enjoy your time with your love! :)

Nikki181FemaleUnited Kingdom2014-04-08 17:12:00

We got a lot of skeptics at first. But now they see we have such a tight relationship that I think they are blown away. I never listened and just flowed my heart as did he crazy as it seemed. We couldn't not be together. I lol at our biggest critics who are in relationships w local people and they don't have half the love respect passion and devotion we do. One coworker STILL does it have the key to her bfs apt even tho they've been together 5 yes an she sleeps there more than in her own place!!!

Agreed! I know my relationship is solid as a rock...at first it bothered me that people would talk! I could care less now because we are HAPPY! And that's all that matters! :joy:

Nikki181FemaleUnited Kingdom2014-04-08 13:57:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2014 filers

Agree with this completely.  When I first started telling people (friends and family both) about our relationship, some were very skeptical. I got the typical, "how do you know he's not just using you for a green card?" and "Can you really know someone when you don't get to spend much time with them?" I'd say that no, he's not merely after a green card; we mutually made the decision for him to move here vs. me moving there.  And actually, I think he knows me better than just about anyone in my life.  When forced to communicate like we all are (emails, text, skype, facebook, etc), I think it makes us that much more in tune with our mates.  Sure, there are some who've been tricked, and I've read horror stories just in the few short months I've been here.  But that isn't exclusive to long-distance relationships.   Johan and I discussed how this would be a difficult process and that it'd make or break us.  It's making us.  :)   Now if the USCIS would just freakin comply and move this forward!!!  :clock:

I think we are all in the same boat when it comes to skepticism! And I also can understand why some people would be concerned in the beginning. But I agree when all you have is communication, it really makes for a strong relationship because you know how to communicate to your significant other. I met my fiance playing Call of Duty and boy let me tell you the looks I get when I say that!!! But we started playing together through mutual friends, and then I found myself playing more JUST to talk to him! And then we just started talking without playing, messaging any time we weren't and that led to video chatting, then after 9 months of that we met for the first time...So the whole beginning of our relationship was based off of communication. And I have never felt more connected to a person (besides my daughter and obviously in a completely different way) than I have to Ben! As cheesy as it may sound, he makes me feel like me! And I think it is because he knows me so well! It'll be three years in June! :)
