K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Calling the service center after an RFE	Hi Everyone, We filed our initial application back in Dec 2011, and finally received an RFE which we responded to and received notice it was received on May 16. My question is, knowing they have "60 days" to process, would calling to check status do any good at all? Has anyone had positive or negative results? I just feel the file is sitting on a desk with a note showing the 60 days date, and someone is ignoring it until it's that date... There are some who got their petition approved in 3-5days after an RFE. Ours took more than a month. You can try calling USCIS after 5 days to check if your case has been approved. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	NVC	Hey guys...I was able to find out why NVC hasn't received my approved petition. I was starting to get worried and annoyed by calling 2 times a day and getting the same response. I even tried telling them that I don't have my NVC notice, and they will look it up with my social, DOB, name, and my fiances name and DOB and nothing. Also scanned a copy of my original NOA2 and emailed it to NVCresearch.gov So today I called USCIS to find out if my petition was approved. Luckily, I was transferred to this really nice lady, Mrs.Andrews, and she checked for me and told me that my petition has not left. It's still "pending shipment" . She told me that they do this to make sure that once NVC receives it, it's ready to be sent to the consulate in DR with no problems. The shipment department was out of her hands, and there was nothing else she could do. But to call in 1 or 2 weeks and find out what's the status. She did tell me that next time I call, to just request information in regards to an approved petition pending shipment, that way I can find out if it has been shipped and I can track it from there.Hope this information is helpful, defitenely not what I wanted to hear, but it has given me a peace of mind to know it's not lost somewhere, instead it's getting prepared to get sent out to the Dominican Republic. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	When to apply for SSN under k1?	Although occasionally a clerk at the SS office will not allow the married name until the green card or EAD is issued in the married name. They've also been known not to allow the last name moved to the middle name unless some other document or ID shows this name. My wife had no issue getting the SS card in typical Filipino married name fashion, but our state spells out the name after marriage on the marriage certificate. You have to apply at least 2 weeks before your I-94 expires, so in your case you can wait until you have your marriage certificate in hand and apply in your married name. now it's clear. I was wondering If I can file for my SSN after marriage once AOS is on process.. Or Is the time too long to file for SSN since I read that I had to file 2 weeks after I arrive in US. Why is it that everytime I turn around I see someone bringing a person over to the states on a K1 visa and then decide not to get married. Although I am a US Citizen I hate the fact that this is happening. People you need to make up your mind before making this commitment and spending all this money. Must be nice to have money to play with. Even more playing with peoples emotions and dreams. I am well aware that everyone does not come over in all honesty, but those that do and left to believe they are loved by the person who petitions for them to only be left in a bad situation. I feel sorry for those that come here have no family or friends only to be told I DONT WANT TO GET MARRIED ANYMORE so I guess you will have to go back. Why could you not figure that out before going that far!! Some people come from really bad living situations and really dont want to go back. There was enough love to start the situation! Geesh I just dont know what to say. Just to clarify I am married to a wonderful man from another country. We have been married for more than a year. I am glad I did not file for him till 7 months later because it made me even more sure to want to be with him and to be with him more in his environment. Super agree! It's my understanding they do not use/want any data storage devices, only paper copies of such information.  As stated above, just pick and choose a sampling to cover the timeline.  Too much information is not always a good thing, but concise evidence showing a clear and consistent relationship will get the point across without confusion. Error in fiance's name, petition almost expired	As far as I know for Australia you can email them a PDF of the petitioner asking for an extension(has to be petitioner) and I think on that they need to re-affirm and sign that they will marry the beneficiary within 3 months of entry. But send them an email to ask and and confirm that, you should get an answer within 2 business day if you are lucky.   Good luck. I guess at first since we didn't know anything about the process it made us feel safer to do this. But basically we paid them for them to fill forms. It can be so frustrating, I hope they get to your case sooner rather than later. TamsynE just keep calling, NVC Process takes very little time, as soon as the receive it , you will be on the fast track, just try to hang in there. What I think about to keep me going is that when we are happily married with our fiance(e)the USCIS and all the others who held us up, will still be on the sidelines watching us live happily ever after. lol. April 5, we received their mail stating that we have to wait at least 60 days for their reply to our RFE. Earlier I called them, and told us to wait 90 days! since we had our service request last mar.30. I don't get it. The CSC received it over a week ago, on 3/20. ----------------------------------------------------- 10/5/2011 - I-129F sent to USCIS/Dallas 10/7/2011 - I-129F received at USCIS/Dallas and routed to the California Service Center 10/14/2011 - NOA1 email received 10/16/2011 - NOA1 hard-copy received 10/17/2011 - Check cashed 3/16/2012 - Received RFE 3/19/2012 - Responded to RFE 3/20/2012 - RFE response received at CSC Hi, just called USCIS a while ago and forwarded my call to tier 2.. told me to wait for their response until Apr7 is the most. Were you checking the website (USCIS) and that is how you found out they received your RFE?
