PhilippinesPREPAID SIM CARD...any suggestions?

I use Net10, a Tracfone company.  On the Net10 website, there is a micro sim card for sale, less than $10 that you can use provided your cell is "unlocked."  What I like best about Net10 is no activation fee, only pay for minutes than I use, and can purchase a monthly plan and there are several different plans to chose from.  Also, if I were to purchase a plan I can cancel it at any time and incur no penalties.  www.net10.com you got nothing to lose by checking it out.

Best of luck!

PhilippinesDMV (MVC) learner's permit

The learner's permit you get will expire on the same day your I-94 expires.  The good part is the learner's permit will give you a state ID - an expired state ID but still an ID valid to determine your age and who you are.  I have used an expired state ID for years without any problems with the police and valid ID for alcohol in different states not necessarily my home state.

In most states you will take a written test for a learner's permit.  The driving test will be when you go for your driver's license and that won't be until you get either your EAD or GC.  Again, you may be able to get a driver's license now but it will also expire when your I-94 expires.  I attended driving school with a learner's permit but, that was a very long time ago.

Best of luck!

PhilippinesWill these items in my check-in luggage cause problems at the POE? Pls advice!

If these items are packed in your checked luggage there will be no problem.  If you chose to put these items in a "carry on" you could be questioned about the excessive amount of bars of soap and containers of skin ointment.  Best idea is to pack these items in your checked luggage.

PhilippinesWhat will be the effect as my husband wanted to resign/retire prior to filing of our I-751.

The fact that your husband is not working when you apply for the I-751, or ROC, will have no effect.  For example, I was not working when my gal applied for her ROC and it had no effect - she was approved.

PhilippinesIm already in the US..What's next?

FYI, the SS card is for government purposes, benefits, etc...  The GC is for your status as a LPR, conditional or not, and allows you to travel outside the US and return while the GC is still valid.  I hope this helps.

Is it possible to renew the Passport even if it's not expired yet in their Outreach Program? I wanted to change it to my married name now-

Yes, it is possible.

PhilippinesWorrying too much pls help..:(

For sure do NOT need a copy of the I-129F petition.   Copies of the emails between you and your fiancee... yes as it is evidence of an ongoing relationship, copy of the I-129F no.

If it isn't listed in the embassy instructions letter, it isn't required.

Hank,

I have no desire to debate this issue with you.  Since even VJ states that is is "advisable" to send a complete copy of the I-129f petition to my gal, she and I found it much "simpler" to take the entire package wiith her for the interview rather than "pick and choose" items from it and take a chance on not having documentation/evidence that might have been asked for during the interview and not have it had with her.  That was our persoanl choice and as I stated in the first statement, "Just my opinion and what my gal did..."  As I suspect you did not find it "advisable" to take a copy of the complete copy - that was your personal choicel.  But, then my gal has yet to have an interview other than the I-129f, and she has complete ROC.  So, I would gather that she and I have done something right!

PhilippinesWorrying too much pls help..:(

Just my opinion and what my gal did, you might want to take a copy of the complete package of the I-129f petition your guy filed for you.  For example, the CO interviewing my gal asked her to show her the first email we had exchanged between each other.  I had included this email in my I-129f petiton package and was lucky that I had also sent her my copy, with original "artwork" (documentation and evidence) to her for the interview that had the email in it.  As far as documentation and evidence you need, such as the medical, cfo stamp, PDOS and other stuff I am sure you already know about this.

Best of luck!

You should receive the visa in your passport in about two weeks after the interview provided there are no problems identified during the interview process and you are placed in AP, administrative processing.  You might be able to pick up your passport with the visa in it at the 2go location where it is processed - I don't know about this though!

Best of luck!

PhilippinesDivorce question

Yes, the US citizen can file for divorce.  After the divorce, the Philippine citizen will be free to marry provided she has processed the divorce papers through the NSO and it has been properly recorded.  This process can take up to 6 months and usually involves the Philippines citizen involved to walk thru and help process the paperwork.  Others may have better info. regarding the lenght of time and processes involved.

PhilippinesDocuments for Interview

the "AOS," affidavit of support" document, if my memory slips me and someone can contradict this should be original with an original signature.

PhilippinesI-693 for AOS

Suggestion -  make a copy of page 4 of the I-485 instructions, highlight section 7 c and staple it to the DS-3025 vaccination record

Does the petitioner do this "in anticipation" of receiving an RFE?, or in after thought, do this "instead" of submitting an I-693?  If my memory slips me, the USCIS has their own way of interpreting the regulations, hence, the "undisputed" denials.  Hank, I do appreciate your desire to stay up-to-date,

carton025MalePhilippines2014-02-23 02:46:00
PhilippinesI-693 for AOS

Well actually that isn't true, I know it happens but it is not what is required per the I-485 instructions, page 4 section 7C:  All that is required is a copy of the DS-3025 vaccination record if AOS is filed within a year of the medical.

I know of others who have had no issue using the DS-3025.

Ok, Hank I will have to give this one to you.  When my gal did the AOS thing in 2010 the I-693 was required.  The rules have changed since then.

carton025MalePhilippines2014-02-23 02:19:00
PhilippinesI-693 for AOS

I will assume you are referring to the AOS petition and process.  Yes, you have to have a completed I-693 included with the package or you will definitely get an RFE.  I am sorry to hear about the CS charges you are running into.  To help keep my gal's charges as low as possible she went to the local county health department and got any and all vaccinations and immunizations needed.  She got 2 shots the MMR and something else, I forget.  She took the form given to her from the county health department and that was all she needed for the CS.  The CSs office just filled out the paperwork, the CS signed it, and we were gone.  But, I am also sorry to tell you that we got all this done at the CS's office for $0.00.

PhilippinesF2A Interview Documents

But asside from Marriage Certificate do we realy need a CEMAR? Do you have any idea? Thanks. CEMAR is not included in my IV packet.

Again, just my opinion, but it would be a good idea to include a new CENMAR.  Whether or not this is your first marriage the updated CENMAR will indicate that you are currently married, and hopefully who you are married to.  The CENMAR document is new to me - my gal had to get the CENOMAR, so the contents of the CENMAR may be different from the CENOMAR.

PhilippinesF2A Interview Documents

Just my "naive" opinion.  Just as long as your CENMAR and NBI reports were sent in a "timely" manner, usually within 3 to 6 months from issue, to the consulate/embassy of choice through the, typically, ecensus.com.ph site for example, these reports should be fine.  Other may not share my opinion...

PhilippinesWhat type of folder or Binder did you use to send in Initial I-129 & G-325

I was thinking about using ACCO top binder that is 8 1/2"  by 11"

Here is a link  :  http://www.staples.c.../product_615468

What did you send you information in on your first initial submission?

What you mention above is exactly what I did.  The reasoning I used was all of my documents remained together and had a very small risk of being misplaced, lost, etc...  Even if the USCIS has a need to remove any of the documents for whatever reason there is a better chance that they will be replaced in the folder and, again, not misplaced, lost, etc...  I used a folder for the I-129F, AOS, and ROC.  It is my plan to use the folder again for the Citizenship petition.  Maybe this helped in not getting an interview at the AOS or ROC stages.  The petitions were just approved, but I did make sure to include everything that the USCIS did ask for.

Best of luck!

Philippinesfiling for petition for recognition of divorce decree

Where are you located sister? You need to register first the divorce decree with the Local Civil Registrar of Manila. All divorce decree should be registered first in the LCR of Manila before filing a judicial recognition of divorce decree in court. You can file the recognition where you reside.

Excellent advice and information. The USEM is only concerned with official documentation and, in this case, the CENOMAR. Having copies of your divorce papers is nice, but they are like having a copy of the "National Enquirer" magazine. They both make good reading but hold not official value to the USCIS or USEM. Just my educated opinion.

PhilippinesK1 visa extension

The process allows her to "extend" the visa one time only.  I don't know about "all" the other stuff posters have told you.  I will add that it is not "advisable" to extend the visa as it can allow the CO to ask additional questions..., such as why, who, what for, is there a problem..., and so on.  I hope this helps.

Best of luck!

PhilippinesAdministered Processing Visa Status

I disagree with the above poster, not all cases go to AP.  As a rule, AP can last only a few days, and up to 90 days before you get any reply, positive or not.  If you got an 221g document it will tell you what is needed or the approximate amount of time needed to verify any documentat/evidence.  If no 221g the USEM just needs some more time to verify documentation/evicence before the visa gets, hopefully, issued.  I hope this helps.

Best of luck!

PhilippinesWhat to bring during the interview?

Just me, but i had my gal take everything with her including, but not limited to, my K1 petition and any other documents I had.  And, I will add that all of the documentation I sent to her was original artwork/documents.  The only thing(s) she was asked for during her interview was to show the interviewing CO the first email we had exchanged to, in my opinion, verify the length of our relationship.  And, if she had not have our complete K1 documentation with her she would have been unable to provide the interviewing CO what she asked for.  Others here may tell you, other than the needed documentation needed, it is not necessary to being anything else.  I am just telling you what I did.  It is up to you!

Best of luck!

Philippinesmy husband hold in manila immigration

I can only speak from my own personal experience and knowledge.  But, it is my understanding that an American/foreigner can enter the Phil. and get a 21 day, now maybe 31 day visitors visa.  For example, I can enter the phil. with or without my phil. wife, get the appropriate visa, and before the visa expires leave the Phil. for just one day and return to the Phil again for the lenght of the approved visa.  There is a lot missing in your story.  Either your husband is not telling you something or there is something you are not tell us here at VJ.  From what you have stated so far, your husband is not telling you everything.  Just my opinion.

Philippineswhat is the different requirements between Spouse and K1 Visa?

A spouse visa entitles your gal to a 2-yr GC in about 2 weeks after arrival in the USA.  She can then get a job, driver's license and becomes an LPR.  But, this visa has costs incurred in the Phil. that the fiance' visa does not like the marriage license cost, any counseling required, the marriage ceremony and its costs and the time you will have to stay in the Phil. to accomplish all of this.  A fiance' visa has more costs involved once your gal gets to the USA such as the marriage costs and the filing of the AOS in order for your gal to get her 2-yr GC.  All of this can take considerable time and money.  I chose the fiance' visa and costs in the USA mainly, because I didn't want to be registered in the Phil.  It is a personal choice.  Most gals want to get married in the Phil. so their family can attend the wedding and reception which can be costly, but cheaper than in the US.  I hope this helps...  I have no doubt that others will post their opinions and experience.

Best of luck!

The above poster has a good idea.  Whatever you choose to do ask around and find out who is good and who is not.  Best source of information is from those who have done this already.  Also, when you do decide on an attorney you might not want to tell him/her right away that you have a westerner involved as this might cause the price to go up...
