CanadaPaying fees with TD account?

So I have to say, two TD  branch agents in the Vancouver area are detached from the reality of what their bank offers

 yea

for those using TD Bank in the US and TD Canada Trust in Canada, do you have to call the hotline every time you want to transfer funds.  Those using RBC said they can do this online with their accounts linked. To me that would be the much easier option. ((plan is to have a reoccurring amount transferred each pay day...))

In my mind I'm thinking not having access to a physical branch wouldn't be a problem (no TD Banks in MI), is there any reason I would need a branch?  I try to do as much online as I can....

Thanks :)

yes unlike RBC we have to actually call a number but i haven't waited for more than 2 seconds every time i have called..

CanadaPaying fees with TD account?

i do cross border banking with TD. I opened a Joint TD US bank account when i was visiting my wife down in New york..

i transfer funds easily through their cross border phone number , its very convenient.. no fees just the exchange rate which i get preferred as i also have a borderless account here in TD canada..

paying the fees went smoothly.. they need the routing number and account number i believe,,, i also have the two accounts linked so i can check the US account from my canadian account access..

CanadaGetting a US mortgage-- RBC?

Interesting thread and thnk you for sharing the information people. I am in a similar situation where i will be moving to US within a month and would like to own a property within a year instead of renting and will hunt for mortgage options. Since i have no US credit history but i have canadian history of owning a mortgage for about 4 years now i will be leveraging on that to get cross border mortgage loans. I will try to contact TD and RBC and compare their services and rates among other US lenders if they are willing to lend. I do plan to put in 40% down if that helps.

Payment 1: $88 for the Affidavit of Support fee (I-864 etc) to the NVC

Payment 2: $230 for Immigrant Visa fee (DS-260 etc) to the NVC

All the NVC fees must be paid from a US bank account

Then pay whatever it costs for the medical for your country & panel physician after you have the interview scheduled.   Very few countries allow advance scheduling of medicals without interview; most require the letter that you have an interview scheduled by the NVC.  The medical fees are paid however the panel physician wants them paid.  Generally by the beneficiary in person.

What information is required from Us bank to pay fees online? Is it account number and routing number or there is anything else required to pay the fees online?

Question about I864-EZ leaving  blank or N/As... for my understanding anything that is not for me i would leave blank but since i read about getting checklists for any blank fields i want to make sure i am not leaving anything blank. so most of the questions i have are about empty fields.

14. Citizenship /Residency

i am a US citizen
i am a lawfull perminent resident. my alien registeration number is A- ___

i checked usc obviously but for A number  for the second one should i write N/A? even when i check USC?

same thing for part 5. sponsor's income and employment

i entered information in section a. Empolyed as an ____

for b. retired since___ and name of former employer___ should i put N/A or leave it blank?

for number 19. federal income tax information.

i checked both option... for tax year 2010 (3rd most recent) I was listed dependent in my dad's tax return so I wrote 0.00 in total income. is that ok?

for preparer information section should i put N/A N/A in all fields? or leave it blank?

i would suggest to check the sample forms provided here.. (top section.. example forms,, go there and find your form)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - November 2013

Hi Guys,

I need three suggestions on filing I864. The scenario is that my wife was a student for the last three years and had no income and so she was not required to file in tax returns. I am submitting a letter stating this and therefore reason why she was not required to file in tax information. We also have a joint sponsor who is well qualified and will file a separate I864.

Keeping this in mind how should we fill in these two questions:

Q1. Part 6 question 4 - I have checked the box "Unemployed since" but what should we put in the date to be comfortable - she has never worked before ( i am thinking to enter 01 Jan 2010 to cover three years) but she has been permanent resident of US since (01 Dec  2010).

Q2. Part 6 question 13 - Federal Tax return information - I have left this box unchecked since she has never filed tax return. But could this result in a checklist that we forgot to include vital information? Your thoughts?

Q3. Part 8 - Where it says "Print Sponsor's Name" - Can we type it in or we have to write it with ink or ball pen with hand? (Sorry for being so ####### but i want to avoid checklist)

Just called NVC and found our case is completed, thanks to all great members here for their information and feedback.

Congrats!

I received by NOA2 on Nov 14th. I have called NVC yesterday and today and whenever i provide them the receipt number (the EAC#) they tell me its not showing up in the system and i should try in about 8 weeks from when the notice was issued.

Should i worry if its not showing up in their system at all? or just keep calling back since its been over 10 days now?

Just assembling my documents to send in the AOS package now. I believe i will do it today!!

Question: Can we send in the pdf version of Tax return that you can now download from IRS website? and also take the same print out version to Interview?

Saylin,

I was just going through your excellent guide for Montreal EP processing and trying to find out how to reduce file size in acrobat and i couldnt find the "Document>Reduce File Size" option so i googled it and foud this out that helped me .. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/761153

"File > Save As > Optimized PDF...", as opposed to "File > Save As > Reduced Size PDF

I am not sure if some people would still be using the old version of Acrobat but you may want to add this in your next round of updating Wiki. Thanks again for all your help and support here to all of us here..

hi saylin, quick question here, what are the question should I ask  NVC when I want to inquire about my daughter's case number..

Call them.. they will ask for case/receipt number.. after you provide them your receipt number that you got on your NOA2.. they will give you status update.. whether they received it or not... or they have assigned a case number yet or not etc... if they do provide case number.. give them your and petitioner's email address and ask for IIN and BIN..

going through the Ds-260 screenshots to see what questions they ask..

Q. Have you ever been issued a US Visa?

I have travelled to US more than 5 times but since i have a canadian passport, all i get is just stamp on my passport Does that technically qualify for a Visa? because it then asks Visa classification, Visa number etc..

confused what to put in there,, "Yes" i have been issued a visa or "No"?

I have a case number, but the person who i was speaking with on the phone said he doesn't have IIN for me yet. Is this normal, because i was reading on here how we need to call and ask for CN and IIN.

Call again, some operators just throw a fuss about giving out IIN and BIN.

Finally, we got out case number today.. Question is do we need to wait for the mail hardcopy before paying or sign up the DS260?? Tia.

Quick question regarding tax returns... My wife will be ready to submitt AOS in the next couple of days but she will not get her 2013 tax return until she recieves her W2s on the 31st Jan.

Does anyone know if the last three years will be 10,11,12 or 11,12,13 at the moment? if we have to wait for her to be able to do her 13 tax return that could push us back quite a bit!

Many thanks

I am in the same stage where you are right now and I read it in this forum or this thread somewhere that since you have until april 2014 to file 2013 tax returns, you can send 12 as the most recent one.

"This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."

But i have searched and it seems like it will only be a week before the fees become available and nothing to worry about..

No, it will delay things. You can opt out of EP if you wish to send the AOS and IV packages by email.

Thanks for your reply Saylin, but if we Opt -in does that mean we have to send every document by email? for I-864, sign them and scan and send them?

Sigh, my wife had her interview in June and it's been over a month, no case update. We were told nothing is wrong with our case, we're approved but in AP. They kept her passport and gave back all the original documents. This is extremely difficult, it's been 9 months and more endless waiting. Now our anniversary is coming in a month and based upon everyone in AP, we're going to be apart. headbonk.gif sad.png

pak143, yeah our case updated today. After my wife was a little less distraught, she did say the CO said we were approved, but in AP. She also showed me the Authorized courier services paper for the American Express service, and she was told all of our paperwork is in order. She also began to remember all of the details, I think we're fine, just an unknown length of time to wait for the visa/passport now.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)New Islamabad AP Tracker

Hello everyone,

My wife had her interview today,

My wife visited, got on shuttle, went through security, was fingerprinted, got a number, sat in a waiting area, was called, gave her medical, passport, original nikah nama, and fingerprints, and was given a number. She was called to a window, spoke to a lady (CO) and was asked the following:

1) Where does your husband live?

2) When did you first meet your husband?

3) Have you ever been out of the country?

4) Have you ever been arrested or involved in a crime?

5) How did this relationship start? Was it an arranged marriage?

6) How can you tell the marriage will last?

She told my wife that your case is fine, we have everything we need, but we need to go through administrative processing. My wife asked how long, CO said 3-6 months cray5ol.gif . She gave my wife back all of the original documents but kept the passport (the CO didn't mention they were keeping the passport). She didn't give her any 221g paper of any sort, i'm confused as to what's going on.

My wife left crying, and still is. It's really upsetting, if everything is in order, and you gave an interview date, why are we going through administrative processing!??! Why not just have delayed the interview date originally? Why put people through such torture? sad.png

I already called my congressman's office and left a message for the person who handles visa issues. Any other suggestions? Has anyone else been in a similar/same situation?

No need to go through all this, you can just correct it at your interview.

I know of a couple of people who met with less than pleasant IO's at their interview and they were annoyed to have to make any corrections simple as an address so I just offered another alternative based on firsthand experience of others I personally know.

As you and the previous poster said, definitely the OP can update it at the interview and it shouldn't be an issue.

US Citizenship General DiscussionForgot to list one address

I went through my files last night and realized that I used to live in one address temporarily while looking for a house to purchase. I'd say about 2-3 months (can't remember now), but I forgot to list that one on the N400 form. Do you think that's considered bad moral character for withholding information? What should I do? Should I volunteer to correct that during interview or wait until the IO asks? I am so worried now that this may be a big deal.

This is an easy fix in my opinion.

If you just sent off your N-400 then you can mail a letter to the USCIS Office listed on your NOA with the additional information and make sure to reference your Application Number.

Call the USCIS Customer Service Centre to be safe though.

US Citizenship General DiscussionFiling for citizenship

hi good day to all, I just have a question regarding on filing for citizenship... I came here with K1visa... I just want to know when can I file for citizenship!? what anniversary to follow!? is it d anniversary of our 3rd yr marriage (May 2010) or the anniversarry I received my GC ( Nov.2010). Im just a lil' bit confused..

Hello,

Based on your scenario you are eligible to submit the N-400 application 90 days prior to the 3 year anniversary date of your GC.

From the date of filing:  you must be married to the same USC spouse for 3 years and the USC spouse must have held citizenship for the same period (3 yrs).

There are other eligibility requirements so check the USCIS website for your situation or poke around in VJ for more info.

she has not applied as of yet.

The wife shouldn't even try to apply for Citizenship at this point.

I think they need to consult a reputable lawyer in regard to her not declaring the past criminal record when they were applying for her immigrant visa and how it may now affect her LPR status given that CBP is now aware...

If the OP is a female then the selective service registration does not apply to her.

As for the tax returns you don't need to send it with the N-400. But, you need to have all the IRS transcripts for the last 3 or 5 tax years (depending on the grounds for naturalization application) with you on the day of the interview in order to show the IO if it's requested.  IRS transcripts can be requested on-line here:

http://www.irs.gov/I...er-a-Transcript

My husband recently went through the N-400 process and didn't submit anything tax related.  He had the transcripts with him on interview day but the IO never asked him about them.

Thanks songbird and sumer - here to deliver the good news smile.png

Arrived at 8:50 for 9am appointment - went in at 10 (never ever been early down there lol)

The man was really lovely, we chatted on the way to his office. He swore me in. Had computer problems - had to reboot, went through my application. Asked me the questions:

Who is the President?

What are the parties in America?

What party does the President belong to?

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

Name three of the original states.

There was probably one more but I can't think what it was (sorry)

He asked if I would be able to attend a ceremony soon. I said yes. He said How does next Thursday the 29th sound? I said great - he said go down stairs and I will bring you the letter.

I received the text saying I had been scheduled for oath ceremony on the way home (it was a 3 hour drive there and back)

So next week I will be an AusMerican or an AmerStralian - take your pick lol

Can someone update please - Oath ceremony August 29. Three months from start to finish smile.png Actually a little longer cause I screwed up initially lol

Thank you for all your warm wishes and help along the way. Good luck to everyone waiting on letters and tests etc - I will still be popping in to check on you all smile.png

It was really lovely, I was nervous but it was good - great day all round smile.png

Congratulations and I am happy for you Kanga!
