Well I think that any conclusion from the article I posted would only be speculation. I just felt it was worthy information to have. In one way more employees would be good, but they are looking at a hiring of time over a period of 10 months, so thats not good news really for us, but maybe for future VJ's. If this was the private world, I would be jumping up and down, but transition in Government, I never have found to be very good. I think the OBAMA actions are certainly not going to help us either. I know they are saying it will not take priority on us, but it is still a huge burden on the current resources for just intake and moving files around. I guess we are all just still in the same situation...WAITING and HOPING!

Agreed, although considering that us getting MSC numbers will get transferred to local offices, it will speed up the process considering the MSC transfer process is only a few months old, before it gets a backlog like the previous methods.

Check this link out... USCIS Office Reopening If my case was already sent this way, I wonder if it made it there in one piece... I know the NYC offices are downtown, and it's a mess there... Posted Image Now i'm super worried, going to call to check on the status on monday!

I know we are grasping for any information, just wanted to share an article I just found online about NBC office.

Thanks for the info! I'm wondering if it'll help or hurt us considering these are all new folks working on our applications?

Hi everyone, we are the October filers also, Chicago Lockbox, our number starts with MSC. NOA1 hardcopy shows the date 10/30/2012 my husband received the hard copy on 11/06/2012. Wishing for all of us the shortest processing times ever, just hoping and praying :)

I participated the poll Darnell, thank you.

Kwara4u thanks for the advice. You are so right, I've been searching for every step since September. We have to know what's next before the time comes. I found this link helpful and want to share with you http://www.visajourn...p/EZGuideSpouse

coltoasty thanks for the information about my case status system delay reason, now I feel better by knowing why.
I keep looking to my calendar and calculating the possible dates that my husband and I could be together. I can't concentrate work :(

Waiting for the good news..

You're welcome, yeah, I believe the receipt date is the official NOA1, not the hard copy date. Yeah, my wife and I are always thinking about possible time-frames and I check this site DAILY. It's only been just over a month since applying and it feels like an eternity! Posted Image

That's what I am beginning to stress about. We sent it via registered post which we were told had a greater guarantee of it arriving.

There's no tracking number or anything you can follow up with?

Am I the only one starting to think us petitioners living abroad kinda shot ourselves in the foot using our foreign address?
So far ppl getting approved that didn't have an expedited request were transferred out of NBC to their local field office from the Aug and Sep filers as well.
However I have yet to see someone who is at NBC from after Aug 15 get an NOA2 =/
I know November just started but....meh...maybe I'll start worrying when December rolls around.

Relax, Nov did just start, it could be just around the corner. We're in uncharted territory I suppose.

It's my understanding that the physical casefile DOES travel around,
and that physical casefile MUST BE AT NVC before NVC processing can be started.

SOMEWHERE in the USCIS steps, the casefile is scanned.

repeat - the physical casefile IS SENT around - note that one of the stops is at the scanning station.

WHY, you ask? Ultimately, there's an electronic COPY made, stored in a system called SAFEFILE, that NVC and all IV units access.

Interesting! Thanks for the info!

heres the ink for the filer who got approved in 54 days... http://www.visajourn...y-only-54-days/

Wow looks promising, but I think it's probably just because they were the first people from the new path, and perhaps their applications were the first ones transferred, thus they had exclusive access to the office for a while?

I do know that the casefile is scanned, at some point with USCIS, prior to approval.
WHEN, though, I dunno. my casefile was thick, so good luck to them there scanner fellas.

Oh alright, for some reason I actually thought the whole physical packet was sent around. Besides, I would expect they would have high-speed scanners that can handle large piles of paper, I had them at my old job, they can do like 15 or 20 pages per minute, and the feeder can handle a lot. So a transfer really shouldn't delay things by much, but being in NYC I would expect the local office here must be swamped compared to other offices.

Yeah, all the guides I read are now outdated. I'm hoping the routing to MSC and then local office is faster than the traditional method, but somehow I get the feeling it's going to take longer, especially if this is a new process. Posted Image

You're welcome. That's strange, I wonder why the person who receives the initial application doesn't notice an expedite request and just put it through for approval. I just wish the process was more streamlined and you could send everything in one shot and less back and forth.

For everyone wondering:

I called the USCIS today, as I cannot locate my receipt number on "My Case Status". I spoke to a specialist that checked on my case and said it was received is being processed. All is fine. He told me that they have an issue/bug with cases not showing up until about 45 days after initial receipt on the My Case status website. He also mentioned that this is only a convenience bug, that the cases are unaffected by this, and not to worry about your case. If after about 2 months you still don't see your case in my case status, I guess try giving them a call, i'll see if my case shows up in late-november. Posted Image

I am in the same boat but mine was sent last Oct. 12 and delivered on the 15 via USPS too.

If you included a G-1145 for e-notification, wait a couple more days and then call USCIS, otherwise it can take up to 2 weeks to get a paper NOA1.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2012 I-130 Filers

allright, so apparently they did cash the money order and I got my case number. I don't know why they didn't notify me by email as I specified(cost me 80cents to send that extra paper in!), but I shall recieve my hard copy NOA1 soon since they mailed it out on the 15th.
Im also at the MSC,and like you guys I can not see my case.
I also found out from the guy I spoke to on the phone hat this whole process should take 5-6 months, but he said it could take longer for some people.
What those deciding factors are? I have no idea.

I think it really depends on the individual case, amount of proof, problems with the application such as errors in spelling, dates, etc. It's basically just a huge investigation from what I understand and it takes time to dig up all that information. Once it gets transferred from the USCIS to the NVC, that's when things begin to pick up and both the applicant and beneficiary will need to start filling out more forms and moving forward.

Definitely give USCIS a call, if you sent it via express mail, you definitely should have gotten your paper NOA1 already. Did you include a G-1145 for e-notification?

If you used standard mail and didn't use G-1145, wait a few more days and then call them.

I filed I-130 early October and got NOA1 back on 10/9, showing transferred to NBC in MO. My MSC receipt number is still not showing as valid on the My status page. Does anyone have an update on this or know if there is a reason why?

My I-130 was received by USCIS on 10/3/12, and the NOA1 date is 10/5, I still can't view my case. I've seen cases on the forums, and people don't see their case show up online until the next step such as NOA2 or an RFE. Posted Image

Good luck!

I would recommend getting familiar with the process while you wait for the I-130 to be approved. Also, use this time to gather lots of proof that will help you during the NVC and interview stage. Any contact you make with the beneficiary (via visits, sms, email, call etc) should be documented and used as proof for on going relationship and supplied to NVC down the road.

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't know the burden of proof was SO heavily placed on the applicant/beneficiary, I figured some proof was enough but now i'm always trying to think of ways to log communications... creepy when I think about it though! Posted Image

Congrats on the visa! Have you been to the US before?

So i received an email from NVC today with the following:

"You recently sent us an email with attached files. One or more of those files was either encrypted or password protected. Please resubmit your attachments without encryption or password protection so we may complete our review."

What does that mean? I opened all the files again for my computer and they were all fine.. I am going to try to open it from other computers and see whats the problem..

Have been trying to contact NVC for the last three days but first i was getting office closed due to weather message and now engage tone.. i have tried calling them atleast 50 times now..

tried opening it with other computers and it opens just fine.. not sure whats the issue here..

can anybody tell me why NVC number is on engage for the last two days?

For Canadians - My case complete was April 15th 2013 and my interview was June 3rd, 2013.  I did not send 2012 taxes with the AOS information and it was not asked for at the NVC stage.   My husband filed for an extension and I brought the proof it was filed for, but that proof was not asked for at the interview. They simply asked to have my I-864EZ  (since I did EP) and that was it.   Other countries may ask to see the current year's taxes after the April 15th date, but Montreal did not.

thanks for the information NLR.

Is it necessary to file I864EZ just because we do EP? I did EP in my case but filed I864 both from petitioner and a joint sponsor.

Nice one! We're at the same stage! May I ask, on the DS260 what did you put for the vaccination question? I note from your timeline that you haven't had the medical yet. Have you already had the vaccinations anyway? I think I'm going to chevk 'no' and explain that I'll be having them at my medical in two weeks.

Cheers and good luck!

I did call USCIS and the level 2 rep told me that the case hasn't been transferred yet, he put me on hold to open up a service request. I asked him how long it takes after the service request for the file to be transferred to NVC? i was told another 2-3 weeks!!! I'm really confused , last week i called USCIS and i was told that the case was transferred and give it about 15 "business "days but now this story? Not sure where to turn now as i've called both the USCIS and NVC without getting any satisfactory answer. Please advise.
Thanks

Keep calling USCIS every day, complain. Contact your congressman, complain. Make an infopass and make a scene there in front of the I130 supervisor if they're saying it hasn't been shipped out yet.

Once they say it's been shipped out, start calling NVC AND USCIS to confirm until NVC says it's in the building, you'll get an NVC case# and IIN in about 3 weeks after that.

They said they didn't receive it at all? I would call USCIS and find out when it was shipped out, to make sure it isn't still at the Local office. I heard some offices do monthly batches.
