i'm not sure if that information is applicable to all consulates. but i got that information from here

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3217.html

Thanks! I dont think it will be different for different embassies but i will check for montreal for my case.

it doesn't hurt to bring one for the interview just in case they ask for the most recent ITR and updated I-864. I have read in some posts here that they were asked for it during the interview at the Manila Embassy so its better to have it handy.

Yea i guess if its easy enough for you to bring an updated one sure.. but for some people its not straightforward!

8. EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (AOS): The I-864 AOS is required for visa applicants in the IR, F and certain E visa categories, and follow-to-join derivative family members of employment-based (E) applicants complete with copies of your sponsor?s latest U.S. Federal income tax return (ITR) and wage statements (Form W-2s). Please note that your petitioner must provide an Affidavit of Support, even if they do not meet the income requirements and even if a joint sponsor?s Affidavit of Support will be providing all of the actual financial support.

The I-864 AOS is NOW VALID INDEFINITELY ONCE IT HAS BEEN SIGNED (this is a change from the previous requirement of being valid for one year). In other words, applicants will no longer need to submit a new I-864 AOS or new tax forms due to long processing delays between the date of the signature of the I-864 AOS and the date of the interview.

Additionally, petitioners (or joint sponsors, if needed) filing an I-864 AOS are required to submit ONLY ONE YEAR'S TAX RETURN, THE MOST RECENT AVAILABLE AS OF THE DATE THE SUBMITTED I-864 AOS WAS SIGNED (this is a change from the previous requirement of submitting tax returns from the three most recent tax years).

The actual signed I-864 AOS must be an original copy. However, faxed copies of tax returns are acceptable. The tax return or copy should be signed.

( based on my understanding, I don't have to submit new I-864 on my interview. just a copy of I-864 that we submitted to NVC and ITR ( 2012 & 2013 ) 1040. am i correct? )

that is some useful information... do you have a link for this source please?

Well, I Skyped with my wife tonight, and she called the embassy in PI while we were talking.  They confirmed they received our case from NVC, and she asked if we could get an earlier interview.  NVC scheduled our interview for March 10th, but the nice lady on the phone moved us up to February 25th.  We didn't ask if there had been a cancellation or why they moved us up, just happily accepted and here we are.

Dwheels, you can change our interview date on the list I guess.

wow just like that? without any good solid reason? luck you buddy!

and congrats for the interview...

There have been a number of people asking about expediting. You have to have a valid reason to expedite. Not just because you don't want to wait.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

This USCIS website has information. Click here for expedite requirements.

For those who think that expedites are arbitrary and are envious… I wouldn't envy us. We have been through hell since January. Our family received death threats, we were told to get out of the village we own land in, my children and I have been persecuted because we are "white". This is a place we have lived in for seven years now. We finally had enough when a mob encircled our house, and neighbors, who we've always helped, didn't utter a word to support us. In hindsight I should have requested an expedite in the beginning, but we thought we would tough it out and follow the 'normal' immigration process while our children finished their school year - try to keep some semblance of 'normal' life for them.

So sorry to hear...Posted Image Human beings are capable of such beautiful things but yet in many cases, quite the opposite, and are some of the most vile, vicious creatures to ever walk this earth.

I pray you and your family get your expedite and get out of there safely.

What is the reason for all of this, after 7 years, so much hate just because you're white? I thought Nepal was a peaceful country.

No, the instruction package is sent after you pay the IV invoice. But, if you're on VJ and following the guides, you don't need it as you should know everything that needs to be sent in the IV package.

Yes, I think it's still possible. I believe they do one final check after both packages are approved, just to make sure. But, I'm not 100% sure on this. You'll just have to wait and see.

No, they won't update the forms, they'll just update your address in their system. No need to send in updated forms to NVC (it'll just confuse the heck out of them). Either bring updated forms to the interview or inform them at the interview of the new address, and they'll just cross it out and write it in themselves.

I-864

Part 2 is all about the beneficiary.

For 21, as it states, do not count anyone twice. You'll put 1 in a and that's it. C will be 0 as they've already been counted in a. So, h will be 2.

For 24, you can only use the beneficiary's income if that income will continue once they move to the US. So will your wife still be working at the same place earning income after she's moved to the US? If the answer is no, then b will be $0. And if you're under the poverty line, you'll need to find a joint sponsor.

DS-230

You're wrong. These questions are only for people IMMIGRATING. As you're a US citizen, then you're obviously not immigrating to the US. Don't be confused by the word "follow" or "travel". This question is specifically for those immigrating. If your wife is the only beneficiary, then write N/A for that question.

Oh okay, yeah, I was thinking maybe something shows up afterwards, no wonder I was confused, past that point now anyway! Thanks Saylin!

You don't need to create your own bar-coded cover sheets anymore. That portion of the guide is YEARS old. It's for back when you couldn't make payments online; you could only send checks and money orders. And then you'd have to wait for NVC to receive it and then mail you back the bar-coded cover sheets. Someone discovered a way to create bar codes, so when they confirmed with an operator that the bill was accepted, they'd then send in the respective package with the created bar codes, thus saving a few days from waiting to receive the NVC bar codes in the mail.

But, with the payment portal now, the bar codes are available as soon as one pays (which is done online now), so there's zero need to create your own.

It's the IV information package.

You can change your address as often as you want. No need to submit multiple DS-3032s. Just one is needed. Just call NVC and update them with the new address, that's all. And if you change address again before the interview, make sure the beneficiary has an updated I-864 and DS-230 for the interview with the new address.

First off, you need a valid reason for expediting. It can't just be because you want to be with your loved one sooner. Otherwise we'd all be expediting! As far as I know, you do NOT need to be a citizen to expedite, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Woohoo! Hopefully within the next few days you get it!

Oh you mean when NVC receives and reviews the IV packet I send them?

I'm waiting for my IV packet to be reviewed, but for USCIS I sent a certified copy with urdu and english on it. We'll see if NVC accepts it.

Ok I called back and they were able to take the email address. But she told me not to email the ds3032 because they are not ready for it. I have to wait until they send me something. Now I'm confused.

If they were processing DS-3032 emails the same day yes, but they take 1-2 weeks to accept the DS-3032.

Send the email now, it won't get reviewed until almost 2 weeks from what I was seeing. If you don't get a response saying it was accepted (NOT the automated response) within 3 business days, send another email, same setup as I did (see link below) EXCEPT, add "SUPERVISOR REVIEW" at the beginning of the subject line. I got a response in 27 hours. It took almost 2 weeks to get a response to the original one I sent.

My IV invoice showed paid yesterday... ha! some secret Samaritan workers at NVC on weekends... :-)

Now my question is, how long does it take for NVC to schedule interview after case complete. Do you get an interview date the day the case is complete?

Trying to plan a trip to be there around interview time. Not sure if I can pull off being present at interview though.

Thanks!

Same here, I think another person also had their payment status go PAID too yesterday. It's an automated system, I think they settle in batches (I know point of sales/credit card systems), so it makes sense, they must settle two or three times a week. I asked NVC about sending in packages right away after paying, or waiting, they said it doesn't matter, as long as you have the barcode cover sheet.

When did you pay your IV bill?

I start getting worried as I paid mine last friday 03/15 and the money has been withdrawn from my account but still shows IN PROCESS on NVC website... (??)

I paid on 03/15 as well, around 7pm eastern, and money has been withdrawn and settled, but still in process as well. I called today and was told that if it doesn't change by Monday, to call and have it fixed. I just logged in and saw a message that they are performing maintainance on Sunday.

Wait, I can mail it even if the online status says *IN PROCESS*?
That changes everything! XD

And im really hoping a kind soul can answer my question as to whether or not my my parents will have to fill out the I-864A separtely or together since they're married and do their taxes together.

Well, you can wait a day and then mail it. It's currently taking a week or more to review packages. I included a copy of the receipt in my packets, so the person reviewing sees that it's been paid just in case the in process status doesn't change. Posted Image

Ugh, once again I paid my bill(this time iv) and it still shows it in process after its been 3 days since they already took out the money from my bank account. I noticed a member paid their IV bill the same day as me and their status was updated to *paid...
There goes sending out my stuff tomorrow at this rate..

Also a question(its been answered before but im still unclear about the *Right answer)
My parents are going to be my joint sponsor and they file their taxes jointly.

So do each of them fill out an I-864A or they can fill it out together?

I paid on the 15th late, I'm still "in process". I just mailed the IV packet today, I'm sure it'll change in a few days! I hope... I think... Posted Image

I emailed NVC my DS 3032 March 13, and did not receive any approval letter except auto response. :(

You don't have to wait for it to show as PAID before you ship. You can ship now. I learned this after the fact - I wish I had sent mine in four days earlier than I did. It would have been there when the fee was cleared by the bank. Just make sure you include your barcoded cover sheet! You have to print that out and attach it to the DS-230. Your cover letter on top. I am wondering why your IV packet is so thick? I think ours was about 12 pages.

Yeah I sent the AOS packet the next morning after paying the AOS fee. This time I wanted to add additional evidence to the IV packet, that's why it's huge.

Damnit, here I was hoping my IV fee would switch to paid, but NVC was closed. Not sure if there's any human involvement in the process, my AOS fee went from in process to paid in 1 day, it's been in process since fri evening now, hopefully it'll switch tomorrow!

Sigh, this IV packet has grown to be a BEAST, not going to fit in the USPS Flat Rate Express Mail envelope. Posted Image

Question, NVC received my AOS packet last week. They have the IV packet as of today. I have called twice now but I don't really know what to ask. The first time I asked, "what is the status of my case" and was told they are waiting for my DS-230. Today I told the operator that they received my AOS last week and I asked if my AOS has been reviewed and if there are any issues, RFEs, for it. She said, "OK, you have to wait 20 days…" Difficult for me to interpret what's going on in that black box we call the NVC.

Just be frank and ask them, "has my AOS/Affidavit of support package been reviewed and accepted yet?" Posted Image

We actually met together through WoW, so :D We're both geeks, so tech and video games are our thing Posted Image

For MENA countries, it's actually a good idea to send extra evidence with the IV package since in most instances, the CO at the embassy already made up their mind on the decision of the case before you get there for the interview, and may not accept any proof of relationship. So, in your case, I'd say send it with the IV package as you may not get another chance.

No, definitely don't send a new I-864 with the IV package. It's going to confuse the heck out of NVC. Just keep the new I-864 for the interview, unless you get a checklist for the AOS package in regards to the form. Then, use the new address when you send the corrected I-864 back.

That's awesome to hear! Posted Image

-receipts of paid fees

Required:

-interview letter
-passport
-medical results (if not sent directly by the panel physician)
-passport photos
-proof of relationship

Thanks Saylin, I was looking at my whatsapp chat logs yesterday with my wife, 2100 pages.... I guess maybe just choose special days, new years, b-day, v-day, days apart immediately after leaving, etc. 2100 pages would probably piss off the interviewing officer... and my wife! Posted Image

In your situation, it's best to wait. I know it's hard to hear, but it's the truth. They're going to want the original police certificate. I would have suggested something else if your spouse still had the original and hadn't mailed it. But, now that it's been mailed, your best option is just to wait and include it. You'll experience the same time frames if you send it now and get a checklist or if you wait and send everything in together.

Yay, grats on progress! Posted Image

Agreed with this Posted Image

You do four things:

1. Send the IV package with your new address
2. Call NVC up Monday to tell them you changed your address, give them the new address
3. Call NVC up Tuesday to confirm the address change (you never know with these operators Posted Image)
4. Bring an updated I-864 to the interview with your new address (they may not want/need it, but it's good to have your bases covered)

This is the important part. Not sending in photocopies will slow the reviewing officer down, taking time out to review your package, and depending on their personality and how their day is going, this may tick them off. That's why I always suggest using paperclips instead of stapling things as it's the same concept. If you use staples, yeah, they won't checklist you (obviously), but now they have to go and remove the staples (and I don't know about you guys, but I hate removing staples!), thus possibly ticking them off.

You want to make the reviewing officer's job as easy as possible. Easy package = less time to review = possibly happier officer.

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

And I play a DPS class (priest) :P I used to heal, but no longer. *cough*

LOL Priest is also a healing class! I stopped playing WOW once I got engaged and began looking for a new job. It was such a time sink, although I admit it was fun because of friends. Well put new address on DS230. This is where the green card will be sent. Than follow up with NVC and call and make sure its changed in system.

At interview you would be taking a fresh new updated I-864. So there you go. Long as the address is right on the DS-230 thats the most important.

Agreed, I would call them on Monday and update the address with them, and after you confirm AOS is accepted, also call back and make sure address is correct, and send new address with IV packet as dwheels76 had mentioned. This way you make sure your address is updated before they look at your IV packet and it won't trigger an RFE. Saylin could advise further, she's the real expert here.

Got a reply to the SUPERVISOR REVIEW DS-3032 email that was sent, just over 27 hour response time. It does work, but I did give them 72 hours after sending my initial request before I sent it to them just to be fair. Posted Image

Awwww, sorry I didn't mean to offend you or any hard working husbands here on VJ and I sincerely hope your spouse realize what a great job you're doing :) I'll be more than glad to put in good words for you :)

In my defense, my husband is so clueless, he didn't even know the what form he filled out to file for HIS mom (ex. form I-130) In his defence, he helps me in many other ways that more than makes up for his lack of commitment in immigration process :D

Haha i'm sorry, I forgot to put a Posted Image after my offended line, I was just teasing! Yeah, as long as one person is on top of it, I guess it's okay, in my case my wife can't do much, but she does get me whatever documents I requested, so she definitely does her part to help. Besides, once we get an interview date, the medical and interview are up to her, I'll have done everything I could have done! Posted Image

 and here I thought only my husband husband is lazy about calling NVC. I agree, Silly husbands!!! Unfortunately, in my case, since he is petitioning for his mom, I still am at his mercy about calling NVC :bonk:

Hey, I take that offensively! I'm here in the states and have dedicated my life since October to the Visa process. VJ is the number one site on my browser, and USCIS/NVC are on my iPhone favorites at the top. I've not done anything productive around the house for months! Posted ImagePosted Image

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

then i expect for a week delay...

If I were you, I would get the information needed, go to the IRS website, and put it in and request the transcripts. I hate lawyers, scumbags who just want to take your money for barely any effort. Posted Image
