Asia: East and PacificBeing there for the interview
Well, we have our interview in the next couple of weeks. I'll be letting everyone know how it goes. I will not be attending the interview. I have already made 2 trips this year.

In my opinion, being there for the interview is another piece of ammo for you. It is my understanding that you will not be allowed in the door so you would need to have her mention it to the CO. If she never mentions it, does it really help?

If you can, why not!

I found out in the 1st week of Nov that our interview would be in early Dec. So its roughly a month's notice that you will get.

Outstanding! Congrats on the date! Now get ready and get the green!

The only thing on the blue was "No proof of first 2 trips to Vietnam?"

I can assure you that you can call that credit card company and get the old statements mailed/faxed to you. They may charge you a fee but who cares.

Don't think of the interview as a failure, its just a hiccup and a delay that everyone here is going to help you guys with.

10pm in FL right now... so 7pm in cali... what's the good word??? I'm sure you'll get the pink and tell us about it in 2 weeks right smile.gif. hehehe... just keeping things on the light side...

Wait... forgot... interview time is 8am so she probably has to sit there all day first. I'll be looking for your post tomorrow some time wink.gif.

Any ideas on why they were skeptical?

My opinion: long courtships for the consulate = real deal.

Anything less than two year courtship; they'll be skeptical.

I would too, wouldn't you?
To mytrang_chinhgoc, time and time, I see people get blue and green consistantly when it comes to case that has a short timeline, nothing personal or special treatment which HCMC gives your case. I'm glad you take the process with a clear mind and high concentration and extremely focus. Congratulations and let's this be an example and encouragement for all who are going through and struggle with HCMC.

Chuck and Kim

It's understandable why they would be skeptical at HCMC, but I always liken the situation to my parents (met to married in 6 months, 24 years later still married) and my younger brother (met to married in 5 months, married for 2 years now). You can never really know when it comes to love. It is still very understandable that such a high fraud post would be skeptical though.

I did read through a couple posts and saw that yours had a real tough interview. Does she only speak Viet or does she know english as well? I'm assuming she spoke Viet and the translator messed around with her?

I can only imagine (for now) how good it feels to know you got the pink in the end. smile.gif

Asia: East and PacificPhone Card Receipts
IMO: It can't hurt.

If I were the CO I'd say it is circumstantial evidence at best.

If I were to be setting up the phone part of your evidence file, I would start with the most current date on top and work your way back. In my mind, that would show you've certainly been talking for the past year with the Telecom records. That would then make the other evidence more palatable.

Will they turn you down for not including it? Not a chance. Will they approve you just based off of it? Nope. They are going to look at everything, not just one single piece of evidence.

I say include it, but put the current provable stuff up top so they don't just thumb through receipts and never see the real logs.

She'll be waking up in a couple hours to head to the consulate.

The interview time is 8pm EST here or 8am there. Hopefully sometime tomorrow morning I'll find out what's going on!!!

I'm fully confident we're getting the pink. When she wrapped up the order of the paper work she said to me "Wow, everything is so perfect, I know I will do good." Confidence is key!

At first she was looking at the interview as a torture session that was a one time yes/no for whether or not she comes here. Now I have her understanding that no matter what the outcome of the interview is, we will get her here. She is now looking at the interview as the happiest time of her life because she knows this is when she will find out she can come to America to be with me forever!

She told me she is so excited and ready to go that once she has the Visa she only wants 2 days and then she wants to come over. She misses me so much. smile.gif. I'll still make her wait at least a week so i can get a ticket and to let her spend some time with all her family. I'm real anxious just to see the pink smile.gif.

We are ready and I know the Lord is on my side on this one!!

This is it guys!!! 1 more day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tram is now stoked and excited. I've got her in the right frame of mind and she is very confident. She has everything in order and she is ready to go! I've got half the world praying for us and I know we are going to bring the pink home in another day!!!

Asia: East and PacificBring on the butterflies!
1 week and counting until I-day. I think I'm more nervous about the interview than Tram is. She did her doctor thing today. Everything else is ready to go.

gahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

We've been over everything they could possibly deny us for and beefed up the ammo for it. I have this feeling of helplessness because I can't be there doing this for her. It's just her and the CO now.

The worst is knowing that in 2 weeks she could be flying into the States, or we will begin he difficult process of fighting for the pink. This makes me so uneasy not knowing what the future holds for us only 1 week from now.

I'll just keep praying and knowing that she will get the pink.

Asia: East and PacificI have one more question be4 my babe's interview
QUOTE
Why get it notarized? Notarizing it only shows that you signed the document and does not authenticate its validity of the document. Notary Publics only make sure the person who is signing the document, is that person... and thats it. Lots of people mistake them for Lawyers or the County Clerk.

I'm a notary, not a lawyer. So take this with a grain of salt because I'm pulling from memory, not statutes.

The notary should be asking you to acknowledge the contents of the document are accurate to the best of your knowledge, or they should be asking you to swear the contents are true prior to them signing and stamping it. If you read what is in the notary block it will say something along the lines of "This person ____ swore to me this day _____ that the contents of this document are true to the best of their knowledge, etc."

The notary public is a publicly held office. You are just not voted in, the government allows your appointment. If something is falsely notarized the notary or the person can be held accountable. Notaries carry insurance to protect themselves against this. Notaries have the same ability to marry and confirm copies and acknowledge and execute documents just like a clerk of the court. Clerk of courts are notaries. My stamp is as good as his. Notaries have rules they follow as to what they can, and can not, sign.

You are correct the notary is NOT a lawyer, and can not give you advice on the document that you are signing. They can ask that you understand it and they can make sure you are in the correct state of mind to execute that document and they can refuse to notarize. They are not just verifying you are the person signing, they are executing a legal document and ensuring that you acknowledge or swear it is true and correct and are in the correct state of mind to do so.

All that being said... If I were the CO I would still be weary of the notary because I am sure it is easy to fake, or you can just pay off a bad notary to stamp whatever you need.

Asia: East and PacificI have one more question be4 my babe's interview
OHHHHHH!!!! I DID!!!

I wrote one about how we communicate and one about our love story. Tram tried to show both to the CO and the CO said "I won't be needing that."

and that was it. I was a little sad about this because they were such beautifully written letters. BUT if they didn't need it, thats also a good thing smile.gif.

As always... it can never hurt to add something to the pile of evidence. You just might here something like Tram did though!

Asia: East and PacificInterview details
Thanks all! She is trying to talk me into letting her stay in Vietnam for Christmas. Looks like it might work out that she could fly into my parents city and we could meet there after Christmas still with enough time to get the Marriage done this year. That's another issue that'll just have to wait until we've enjoyed the Pink long enough smile.gif.

She told me that at her interview the CO just asked to see some pictures. She did not mention the engagement or anything.

Asia: East and PacificInterview details
Here's how it went down:
Tram signed onto Yahoo! at 12:00am. Her computer sat idle and I assumed that it was just on auto login and someone turned it one when she didn't reply to me.

Then she pops on.

Tram: bbay
Tram: baby
Tram: i did interview
tim: and?
Tram: but it is not perfect like me think
Tram: what will i do right now
tim: ok
Tram: ?
tim: did they give you a paper?
Tram: blue paper
tim: what does it say?
Tram: they say i need more paper
Tram: so sad
Tram: i am too sad i dont want to life more
tim: it is okay honey
Tram: i want to talk with u on headset
tim: ok
Tram: talk with me
Tram: then i will read what i have on blue paper

So we pop on the headset and turn on the webcam and she's sitting there all depressed and is going on about "You need to find a new wife in america, and i can not be with you, what will we do" and so on. She wont let me get a word in so I tell her to just stop for a second and let me talk. The she holds up the PINK like a little brat.

Obviously we are both over joyed and telling all our family and friends about it right now but i was able to dig the following out of her.

A Malaysian girl asked her the questions. Tram said she was very polite to the CO and greeted her with a smile and a "Hello, Madam" She said "Thank you, Madam" when she was handed the pink and said "Goodbye, Madam" when she left. She says the CO was very nice to her and at ease with her because she was polite and happy. If Tram was asked something she didn't understand in English she asked the CO if she could speak Viet and the CO said yes, and Tram replied "Thank you." She said there was no translator and the CO spoke average Vietnamese at best.

Questions:
How did we meet?
Why did your uncle introduce you?
Did he go to learn more after High School?
Does he have any brothers?
Did you meet his parents yet?
Is he a big brother?
Where did he stay at in Vietnam?

And that was it from what she told me so far. She picks up her visa in 2 weeks. I'll have her fly in and meet her at my parents up north so we can have a white Christmas then we'll fly back down to FL to enjoy the 65 degree winter hehehe.

Judging by the brief interview I'm guessing the paperwork did most of the talking, along with the confidence Tram took in with her. I'm so proud of her smile.gif. This will be a holiday season and Christmas I will never forget!!

Asia: East and PacificBetter to mail or return packet 3 in person?
If you can get stuff done in person, you will save time. You could potentially save a month just due to the slow mail times, IF they let you do it.

They would NOT let my fiance turn it in by hand and told her to mail it to them. They also would not let her pick it up and told her to wait (3 and 4) they both ended up showing up.

Asia: East and Pacificpay stubs need for I-134 ?
For mine I provided the following:

I 134
Letter of employment (2 copies)
Letter from bank (2 copies)
Statement from stock brokerage (2 copies)
3 most current paycheck stubs
Tax Summary for past 3 years (free from the IRS web site, by phone)
Tax Account Statement for past 3 years (free from the IRS web site, by phone)

I exceeded the minimum requirement by about 400%, showed 4 figure balances in both my checking account and my stock account and they did not question anything about my I134 submission. I did not submit bank statements, however, they were in the "extra documentation file" that I sent Tram along with, just in case. I was not able to locate my W2s in a timely manner and did not submit these.

QUOTE (mytrang_chinhgoc @ Dec 20 2007, 02:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
i have noticed that many topics in this forum suddenly disappear. as if deleted. most of the topics had very good information contained in them about the Consulate or interview. yet, insignificant topics such as helmet laws or new hotel terminals - remain undisturbed. what gives?

As topics are not posted in they fall to the way side. They are all here but you will need to search for them. For a topic to stay at the top of the forum it has to be "bumped" to the top again by posting in it. If it is a topic that the moderator feels is important they can sticky it and keep it up top to stay. You can access the older topics by looking through the pages at the bottom of the forum, or you can use the search feature at the top.

Topics that refer to the region are posted here and can very from helmets to typhoons to interviews. As long as they are active they will stay near the top.

QUOTE
on 12-12-2007 we just received instruction package from HCMC, my fiance' bring it back to them on next day 12-13-2007. They sent me an e-mail that night let me know they already received check list and 230-part 1, now just wait for package 4 and interview date ( 2-4 months ). SO DON'T SEND BACK PACKAGE 3, TURN THEM IN PERSON FOR GOD SAKE.

They would not accept Tram's when she attempted to do this. She was told to mail it in.

QUOTE
Do we need to send recently pay stubs with I-134 ?

in supporting evidences part of I-134, it doesn't say nothing about pay stubs, neither in instruction package that sent to fiance', but in guideline of visajourney, it said we should ???

I thought only W2, Tax return, employer's letter, bank stastement are enough.

Any advice, greatly appreciate

Too crazy you found that!

I personally feel there is a slight differance between 5-20mph on a moped where EVERYONE is riding (vietnam) vs. 1 motorcycle per hundreds if not thousands of cars moving 30mph+ (US).

I wore a full face helmet helmet when I rode my R6 along with an armored jacket, gloves, and jeans and thankfully I never used them.

But lets not turn this into a "should I be forced to wear a helmet" thread (those belong in another forum). This is just an informative post in the SE Asia forum so that if anyone is on thier way over or has family over there they will know that it is now required to wear a helmet in Vietnam. smile.gif

Well, I'm glad I went in Oct/Nov. They require helmets for motos now sad.gif. I had the pleasure to go to the countryside and passed through an area north of HCMC that required the helmets and I must say... it sucked.

The helmets seriously would have ruined my highly spiked hair on our nightly outtings as well.

Safety and all, yada yada. As a tourist I'd be annoyed (but safe!).

QUOTE
Once you've had your interview, and in my Fiancee's case where they told her that she does not have to come back to interview again because she passed but only needed to correct her documentations and to bring them back to the Consulate within a year, is this actually true? I know that once we've compiled all our documents necessary, we should drop it off in person, which I plan on scheduling time to head out there but does my fiance have to re-interview? If so, thats not that big of a deal but I hadnt seen anyone discuss this hence my question.

It's exactly what the CO said. They need more documents, then they will make their decision. You wont need another interview unless they ask for it.

QUOTE
Does everyone have to wait 2 weeks after their interview to get their visa? Or do they allow you to come back the next morning for it should we pass after the submission of the corrected documents and blue slip? I am not sure how long of vacation time I am allowed hence I am asking because I have seen random answers to this questions.. but I guess my main question was after you've been given the blue slip and then on the day you submit all your documents to HCM City... granting that there are no more problems, will they issue her the visa soon or do we have to wait a while??

It could be as soon as the next day, but looking at mine and 2 others that have recently passed they are pushing out to 2 weeks. I'm sure this could change at anytime.

QUOTE

Asia: East and PacificThi called HCMC Consulate about Packet 3
Tram called the consulate to inquire about whether or not our packet 3 was received (the would not let her turn it in by hand). The girl was very nice to her and informed her that it was in fact received and that they had already mailed out the packet 4 and told her the interview date. About 2 weeks later the packet 4 arrived.

From pink slip to visa was 12 calender days for us.

Our interview was pretty close to flawless. Tram had a "Malaysian" lady that spoke average Vietnamese interview her. If Tram did not understand or know how to answer easily in English she politely asked if she could answer that question in Vietnamese. Tram was very polite from start to finish. She maintained a level head and kept a smile on her face. She was not intimidated. She was confident.

Remember that you are selling yourself and your relationship to the CO. Confidence, IMO, is key.

Get a job with the USCIS and work your way up the ranks until you end up in a posistion that can make a differance. You could also try writing to various Government people but the ones that can make the changes are busy playing golf. You could also vote to get the right politicians in office that can make a differance, but I think you will find they talk a good game to get into office... then they will just join the other guys on the golf course. blink.gif
