ChinaNew Passport system in China?
Hi all,

My finance recently went back to her home in Chang Chun to acquire all the documents needed for packet 3. She applied for a new visa on Oct. 11th and was told it would be ready in 3-4 days. She returned to pick it up on October 18th and was told they were having problems with the new system and they would mail it to her. She has left to return to her current residence in Fujian Province. Should I be concerned about this? They seem to be a little different in Chang Chun than I have experience in other Chinese cities previously. I was last there in March. Anyone know of a new passport system in China? Her previous passport had expired.

Thanks

ChinaRescheduling an interview date
Hi,

My fiance has been detained by her mother needing some surprise heart surgery and is afraid she will miss her January 11th interview date. I've read that if you miss your interview date the process starts again. I assume it starts at the Consulate level, but want to make sure. Can anybody help?

Thanks,
Eric

Chinafinancials??

Cortr,

Please confirm that all we need to turn in are tax transcripts. VJ members have been advising others to turn in W-2's, pay-stubs, and employer letter in addition to tax transcripts.

I'd rather not get a letter from my employer if I don't have to. I prefer keeping private matters private. I'm willing to make copies of W-2's and pay-stubs, but I won't turn them in to the consulate if I don't have to.

Thank you!

Employer verification of your current pay. I thought the way I read the "official form" only asked for one years Tax form, but my SO was scrambling for me to give her three years forms. I tried w-2s, but had to end up ordering the tax forms from IRS. If you have the forms copy them, and send them to the Consulate. Send the originals to your SO. I'd also make sure you note that you are sending copies and your SO will present the originals at the interview. In my case her interview was in January during the lock down time for tax information for my company, so I couldn't access my records on-line from my employer. Just another wonderful benefit of our flawless government.

Hope that helps

Chinachange jobs & address before the interview?
Birdman2010,

I'm a K-1 not sure how much I can help, but I will always try when I think I can. After I filed the I-129-F (duriong that 5 month waiting period) my fiance decide her company's business had dropped off enough that she should find another job, she had a lucrative offer from another company (but in another province). Of, course I can't tell her "NO IT MIGHT EFFECT OR TIMELINE FOR YOUR VISA", after all who knows what that may actually be, so I aquiesed and said "if you think that is best for you go ahead".

Needless to say, the next few days I receive a letter from the USCIS that they were forwarding your application onto the NVC. Great...Now what do I do, she's not living where I said she was, packet #3 will be delivered where she no longer lives. I try to contact NVC and the Consulate to correct the address, but to no avail. Fortunately she had some room mates/apartment mates who forwarded the packet on to her at her new address. Got the packet , everything is fine now, she'll update with the new address when she returns Packet #3 nothing to worry about, right?

She worked in a bakery, after Moon Fstival ends she visits her parents in another city far away from where she worked. No problem, she's entitled to do that. Halfway back to work she gets a call from her sister, "mom's fallen and can't get up", Not exact words but same type of situation. So now Mom is rushed to the hospital, they decide she has a heart condition that needs to be addressed. Meanwhile Packet #3 was returned to the Consulate, with the updated address, of what becomes a former employer. Although Mom's fall was for an ankle injury, ends up being not her first, Heart condition, so heart surgery, and eventualy move to a rest home for recupperation (for 3-4 months). Of course, Packet #3 was okayed and Packet #4 and the interview schedule sent to another wrong address. She also had a room mate there who notified her of the package and forwarded it on.

Mom's condition was touch and go, but My finance decided to honor the date assigned at the last minute. Unfortunately she was given a Blue RFE, but that was later approved. Guess what, sent to the last address, not her parent which she had updated when she was at the consulate for her interview. Good Rooom mate again forwarded her the approval notice.

Too make a long story short. She's your love, what's going to make her happy? Be prepared for lots of hoops.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Could pregnancy be a problem for a visa?
You should also check the vaccine whether it has the side-effect with the pregnancy.

When my wife had the vaccination shot done prior to the interview, the doctor informed us that, not trying to get pregnant because the vaccine might become a problem for the fetus.

Ask the doctor again regarding what type of vaccination you will be getting.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBe with the spouse for the consulate interview
Thank you all for the replies.

As we know, sacrifices for happiness are worth every penny. I have to admit that, at first, I was so concerned regarding the current economy. I did not wish to spend a lot of money, due to uncertainties surrounded us.

After reading the comments from Daboyz and the rest, I decided to fly back there to give the moral support for my wife. Even the plane ticket costs over $1,100, it is better to prove the sincerity of our relationship.

I was also surprised to learn that some of the US Embassies did allow the spouse to participate in the interview, or even come to ask the petitioners with some questions. In Manila, they even had the private room to enter and talked to the officers. However, Daboyz said that in Thailand, they decided to do a stand-up interview at the windows and everyone could hear the conversation. My opinion is that, this matter should be done privately, not publicly.

That was the reason why I decided to fly to give my wife the moral support. I know that it sounds intimidated on this type of interview.

Thank you for your comments. If anyone has anything to add, please feel free to do so. All comments are welcome. Thanks again.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBe with the spouse for the consulate interview
I plan to fly and to be with my wife when the consulate interview is conducted in April. I do not know whether you knew anyone who have done something like this. Will it make any different on the final outcome?

I talked to couples of people and they informed me that this moral support would definitely help the spouse's confidence when facing the interviewer. The spouse will feel that he/she is not alone and always be supported by the person he/she loves nearby. This will also prove that the relationship is serious, in an addition from the evidence of relationship.

Many people could not do it because of work schedule, time or financial reason.

Just want to hear your thoughts or comments. Thank you.

****************
Many people said that I could not be standing at the interview area but I still can sit in the waiting area. I hope that is true.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Form
I am filing the extension this year. So, I will be bringing the 2008 extension form. However, I got the completed 2007 tax year. I will bring my W2 for 2008, the tax extension, and draft of my 1040.

My 2007 return was completed. I will also bring the photocopy of your checking account in order to show the consulate that you received the refunds or the IRS cashed your check if you owed them.

For me, I received a refund. So, I made the photocopy of my 2007 refund via direct deposit which was made by US treasury. The amount should be the same as your 1040. I also have the copy of the direct deposit on the stimulus money that Bush gave us in 2007 as well. This is to prove that you did not owe anything to the IRS. Otherwise, you would not have received the stimulus money.

In 2008, if you finish the return, send it. If not, or you want to do extension, send an extension form and W2. If your employer can issue the letter of employment certified that you are still working, that will be great.

I think this should do it.

I do wonder whether there are similar programs to perform the same task for MSN Live Messenger.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDoes anyone know whether there are programs out there that can print the MSN Chat log?
Good afternoon,

I realize that many people have posted regarding the chat logs via Skype and Yahoo Messenger. However, does anyone know whether there are some programs that can print the chat logs for MSN Live Messenger?

I would like to be able to give the log to my wife on her interview. (Right now, I have to print the chat history, instead.)

Right now, line by line chat log will produce around 500 pages. I really need some condense version like couple of people suggested in Skypelogview. They printed only the summary with time stamp for each day.

Please advise. Thanks.

I will wear the attire as if I go to the professional job interview, conservative types. If you have the suite, wear them. Neck-tie or bow-tie is optional.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about taking Sponsor’s Tax Return to INTERVIEW!!!
QUOTE (adnanraza21 @ Mar 10 2009, 08:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have a quick question, today I got an e-mail from NVC with my Appointment Letter! In the letter it states:

IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with
proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax
Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax
Return to the visa interview

My question is my wife did not file for her 2008 tax return yet, because the deadline is Mid April, so can I just take her 2007 tax return?? That is the most recent one I have! Do you think they will question it???

Thank you in advance for any help!!! yes.gif

I received the email from the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand today addressing the same question. They told me to bring the 2007 and W2.

For me, I received the refund from the IRS. So, I will make photocopy of my direct deposit from my bank as well. In an addition, I also received a stimulus money in May, 2008, which was direct-deposited into my bank. I will make the photocopy on this one as well.

This is to prove that you filed the tax and received the refunds both ways.

Regarding 2008, they might or might not ask. I plan to file an extension. SO, I will bring my W2 for last year as well as the copy of my extension form.

Take care.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionappointment letter
I received the NVC letter last week. I scanned and sent an email to my wife to bring into the medical.

Regarding the package received at the embassy, I am uncertain what the contents are. I do wonder whether package 4 that being sent to my wife will be in English language or the native language. Since Thailand does not use English as an official language. They have their own alphabets. I hope that the letter carrier can read English really well. I hate to have the letter returned to the sender.

I think, the letter will be addressed in front of the envelope with the English language, not with the native alphabets language. Am I right?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdditional Documentation Required - Bangkok Embassy
QUOTE (Birch-Beer @ Apr 22 2009, 08:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So Ike, I would like to know if you had to see the interviewer (CO) again, or did the thai lady just take them then came back with a decision?
I'm curious to know,
1- does my wife have to see this moron CO again?
2- will they tell her then and there if the documents were enough?
3- will they take the passports at that time and hve her come back in a few days to get thier vise?

thanks

Hello,

For us, we came back on Wednesday, the 22nd, and did not see any Consulate officer again. The purpose was to submit the additional required evidences. There were only a Thai lady who was at Window # 5 to collect the documents. She was the one that prejudged our documents without even looked at the letter from our attorney.

Regarding your questions,

1. You might or might not see the counsulate officer, depending on the arguments that you had. We did not see the CO again. I do not wish to speculate the reason he did not show up the second time. I believe that he showed up on DABOYZ' case.

2. The weaknesses that I observed from the people who came back, were all related to Evidence of Relationship. I had over 1,200 pictures taken and printed in the contact sheet, 35 pictures per page. We printed all phone logs, chat logs, letters, etc. I used over two reams of papers and printed everything. I separated my tax documents, my wife as beneficiaries as well. We were very organized and put them in the folders.

I organized our documents and color-coded with three folders. My folder (tax, proof that my wife is a primary beneficiary), my wife's folder (birth certificate, house registration, name changes...) and Evidence of Relationship folder. All of them were labeled and we put descriptions regarding each one. We spent time creating this piece for around two weeks. I knew that it was overboard. However, we would like to ensure that we passed. For us, the more the better.

3. They returned my US passport after finished reviewing the additional documents. My wife's passport will be returned within one week. They gave her a notice with a red stamp. I think it will take between 2-4 days, depending on the day of the week.

I suggested that you printed the Codes of Federal Regulations, just in case, the CO asked for some other documents.

We felt that our documents were too perfect. I am an IT engineer and it is not necessary to discuss anything regarding taxation, W2 or income. My wife is also a faculty member of the State subsidized institution.

So, the consulate officer tried to locate the weaknesses and he knew that I was a naturalized US citizen. So, he pulled out this one out of the thin air regarding petitioner's evidence. Copies of US Passport can be used as a proof, no matter the petitioner is a natural born or naturalized citizen. My attorney wrote a very strong letter. The laws must be abided by the embassy regarding the primary evidence to prove the citizenship, with one of these documents -> birth certificate in the US territory, naturalization certificate, unexpired US passport, proof of birth abroad by US parents.

I do wonder what would happen, if I were not in Thailand. How could my wife find the certificate of naturalization or even original US passport? My attorney stated that the additional documents should be more related toward the recipient rather than from the petitioner. This was because the documents from petitioner were already approved by USCIS and also by NVC. NOA2 was described that, your petition had been APPROVED and forwarded to NVC. When this branch of the government approved your application, petitioner's documents submitted should be all sufficient. Petitioner should not be required to submit any other documents, aside from tax paper or the proof of income to be above 125% of the poverty guidelines.
