IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWill significant age difference pose a problem in interview date? Please help!

Without your timeline filled in it is hard to expect when your interview will be... but I am so curious of your outcome.
Your red flags are mounting each time you post... Putting aside the almost 50 year age difference...I honestly ask with concern, What evidence DO you have of a bona fide relationship?

 My thoughts exactly.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen and Why do you need to call NVC?

This is the info someone gave me to that question specific to Ghana Embassy. Yours might differ.

NOA2 to interview is a hard one as it is always changing. Once you get your NOA2 wait a week call NVC for your embassy number. Starts with ACC. Once you have that wait a week or so and email the Ghana embassy for your pickup date. Include Pet and Ben birthdays, names, ACC number. They will eventually email you back with a date to pick up packet 3 (which is also packet 4- with interview date).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone denied K1 and gone the CR1 route?

Hi Everyone,

I am now gathering documents for my CR1 packet and process and need input from anyone who have been denied the K1 and had to go the CR1 route. Any advice would be appreciated. Do I use the same information for evidence of bonafide relationship? Joint bank accounts, property, photos, evidence of 6 trips, facebook, email, texts, cell phone records. affidavits from friends and family.

BTW the reason for denial was that they did not believe we had a "real romantic" relationship. Thanks for your responses in advances.

I need on opinion from those of you who added a Relationship Progression narrative or Diagram with your evidence for application for either your fiance or spousal visa. I was advised by a very wonderful senior member here to create one and send it with my CR1 and I feel so much better doing that because it gives me a chance to relay to the Interviewer how we started from point A and got to Z.

All opinions are welcome! and i  wish you all a Happy New Year of Wealth, Health and Peace!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA word of advice make sure spouse attends interview

As the OP stated it's can be helpful to be there. But, to suggest that a couple will be denied for having a lack of proof of a bonafide relationship is inaccurate. Couples are rejected every day because the evidence they submitted to the USCIS is weak at best. But, for those couples who have dated photos, passport stamps, receipts, boarding passes, proof of ongoing communication, this will NEVER be an issue.

This post is too funny for a comment. R U Serious????

What is your problem ? Say what you mean and mean what you say, your word games are disrespectful so what kind of

American does that make you ?  Needlessly cruel ? Just full of yourself with a twist of arrogance.

You do understand that this is an immigration site.  Meaning there are people from different countries here.  Not all countries are exactly like the US.  Some have much more restrictive governments others are less restrictive.  In some countries, government officials can be very vindictive; in other countries they are not.

A person not from this country could, of course, not be aware of how things are here.  If you would look at it from another point of view, then you would see that this might be a very good question to ask.

By the way, you were unnecessarily mean.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion regarding next step

Getting another divorce decree is not needed  if its for you the petitioner. USCIS only needed a copy.

You were asking for next steps. At USCIS there are none unless you messed up then they will send you a letter (RFE=Request for Evidence) Otherwise its off to NVC. Really get all that lines up. ahead of time to avoid mistakes and denials.

Thanks again Dwheels and your link is extremely helpful and detailed. I finally received the paper NOA2 dated May 16th so I will begin calling NVC next week for the IIN and case numbers, etc.

Please click on the NVC process wiki in my signature. Saylin wrote it up all nice and easy to understand NVC.

In about a week start calling NVC though it is taking about 4 to 8 weeks to get to NVC and in system and a case# generated. (I know slow right).

Tax transcripts wasn't needed at USCIS so sorry you will be providing that with your I-864. You can order now yes.

Petitoner divorce decree not needed at NVC only beneficiary if they were married before.

It will be all originals you will be sending.

Read Wiki come back ask questions.

Good to see you back Tosh Love. Way to fight the good fight.

Thanks Dwheels. I read Saylin's post and others but it seemed to skip from receiving NOA2 to the NVC process and I wanted to know if I had to do something while waiting for the physical NOA2 paper.

Sending your tax transcripts with the original package was unnecessary unless you were showing that you filed taxes jointly.   Please do not say you sent your original documents to the USCIS?

Thanks NLR. I did send original documents of the divorce decree but I am going to the courthouse tomorrow to get another certified/stamped copy. I sent everything I had because we had just been denied a fiance visa and I wanted to be thorough.

Please bear with me. This is my second time around but my previous process was K1 and CR1 is confusing. I have read the flowcharts by Sailyer and others but I still have a question regarding what to do between when you get your EMAIL approval of NOA2 and when you begin calling the NVC. I have not yet received by paper notice of NOA2, it's only been about 6 days so please enlighten me.

I also sent my tax transcripts, divorce decree, etc with my original package. Do I need to request another set of transcripts and a divorce decree to send with the Affidavit of Support package to NVC?

Thank you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMay I Use a long Hypothetical 'Fairy-Tale" Example, here?
The most difficult hurdle to overcome by this "fictional" couple is the number of visits and the lack of evidence of knowing each other prior to marriage on the first visit. It is extremely ODD in Chinese culture to meet a man and get married so quickly unless fraud is the undercurrent. Also, being taken to her parent's home so quickly?? This is also very uncommon at the beginning stages of the relationship. The embassy would see this as a potential fraud case by the girl and possibly include her parents (money funnel). Outside of making additional well-documented trips, I don't see Lucky and Lucy ever being together in the US. As for the unemployment issue...get out of the current city. One job not enough? Get two. If the petitioner is a single man, with no ties, then there is no reason he can not work 80 hours per week.

Push has already said what I would have said, the only thing I will add it to make sure you are transparent with your new gal about the previous K1 because the consulate will have that information and they will ask. If she doesn't know about it, you will probably get dinged. Not saying you would hid this, just saying to ensure transparency. Besides, the last thing you want is a Chinese wife who doesn't trust you. I know someone in that position and man-o-man....

I don't know all of your circumstances, but you are giving up your relationship because of this obstacle?? However, if this causes you to give up so easily, perhaps this is fate and you would only find harder times in the future here. I hope you find what you want, but always know that VJ is here to help and support. :help: :star:

Hmm...sorry for this to happen to you. I am a researcher in neurology, and not an MD, but the standard of treatment has been established and clear for a long time. Outside of your possible consulate issues I agree with your decision to have your own medical check to see if a transfer occurred or if you might be the source. Depending on the individual, chronic asymptomatic infection is possible but usually will result in ongoing organ damage. Who ever is positive should be treated asap and if negative you may still want to receive a prophylactic antibiotic regardless. A more thorough exam would be warranted to look for ongoing organ damage but this only occurs in a chronic infection. Right now just focus on your visa and your blood work.

Middle East and North AfricaBaby Girl Ear Piercing
I had mine pierced as a baby. Most Indian girls do. I am glad it was done when I was so young because when I got second piercings in my ears at 23, I was scared out of my mind. If I had a daughter I would have hers pierced young as well. Jewelry (and gold) is a pretty important part of Indian culture, at least within my community and family. My aunt pierced her daughter's ears with a needle--it was quick and gentle, and not as damaging as guns.

Catholicism is okay with it provided the children are raised Catholic,

Are there different sects of catholicism? The reason I ask is becasue I know this to be untrue in the case of the catholic church. My ex-husband's priest would never marry us in the church unless I converted to his religion because I was a pagan at the time and his brother married a budhist who also had to convert and take religion classes before the priest would marry them in the church.

I worked for the St. Louis Archdiocese and currently work for Jesuit Priests. From what I understand, a priest will marry 2 Christians. Just as they accept baptism by other religions as long as they are baptized in the Trinity. There are very few religions that do not fall under these categories.

You DO NOT have to convert to Catholicism to marry in the Catholic Church, unless you are not considered a Christian.

Of course they are not going to allow a pagan to marry in the Church...completely against beliefs of the Catholic Church. Why would you even want to? Same with a Buddhist.....not a believer of Christ.

But then why do they allow Jewish and Muslims to marry in the Catholic Church since they don't beleive in the divinity of Christ either?

Here is what "Catechism of the Catholic Church" has to say:

Mixed marriages and disparity of cult

1633 In many countries the situation of a mixed marriage (marriage between a Catholic and a baptized non-Catholic) often arises. It requires particular attention on the part of couples and their pastors. A case of marriage with disparity of cult (between a Catholic and a nonbaptized person) requires even greater circumspection.

1634 Difference of confession between the spouses does not constitute an insurmountable obstacle for marriage, when they succeed in placing in common what they have received from their respective communities, and learn from each other the way in which each lives in fidelity to Christ. But the difficulties of mixed marriages must not be underestimated. They arise from the fact that the separation of Christians has not yet been overcome. the spouses risk experiencing the tragedy of Christian disunity even in the heart of their own home. Disparity of cult can further aggravate these difficulties. Differences about faith and the very notion of marriage, but also different religious mentalities, can become sources of tension in marriage, especially as regards the education of children. the temptation to religious indifference can then arise.

1635 According to the law in force in the Latin Church, a mixed marriage needs for liceity the express permission of ecclesiastical authority.135 In case of disparity of cult an express dispensation from this impediment is required for the validity of the marriage.136 This permission or dispensation presupposes that both parties know and do not exclude the essential ends and properties of marriage and the obligations assumed by the Catholic party concerning the baptism and education of the children in the Catholic Church.137

1636 Through ecumenical dialogue Christian communities in many regions have been able to put into effect a common pastoral practice for mixed marriages. Its task is to help such couples live out their particular situation in the light of faith, overcome the tensions between the couple's obligations to each other and towards their ecclesial communities, and encourage the flowering of what is common to them in faith and respect for what separates them.

1637 In marriages with disparity of cult the Catholic spouse has a particular task: "For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through her husband."138 It is a great joy for the Christian spouse and for the Church if this "consecration" should lead to the free conversion of the other spouse to the Christian faith.139 Sincere married love, the humble and patient practice of the family virtues, and perseverance in prayer can prepare the non-believing spouse to accept the grace of conversion.

I say trust you gut instinct. One of the "red flags" of the middle eastern relationship is asking for money and support....always having an excuse or "emergent" situation that requires your financial help. Only you however, can determine if this situation exsists. My SO lives in Egypt...has no work as of yet although has looked and never has "asked" for money. He'd never dream of it. Use your instincts.

Oh, girl......I'm so sorry. He has no right to hold your past against you. It's not like you can do anything about it now. He's got to get over that.

Point out to him that you are who you are today because of your past. You are the person he fell in love with because of every single thing that happened to you in your past. And, that today, you cannot do a darn thing about that past so he needs to move past it.

There are so many bigger problems in the world then what any one of us did in the past.

I'm not from this forum; but........

I was dating someone else when I met my husband. So, yes, he knows about that guy. And, I have an ex-husband and children, so not only does he know about him, he sees him quite regularly. Otherwise, if we run into someone one or they call or e-mail or something, I talk about it. Otherwise, no, we don't just chat about any ex'es. It's kind of a need-to-know basis.
