Middle East and North AfricaWhere do I shop for 28x34 size pants for my husband?
QUOTE (Aymsgirl @ Aug 18 2008, 09:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband is a thin, tall man and we are having extreme problems finding pants in his size in the major department stores. He could wear a 28x34 but if we have to he could do a 29x34 or at the largest 30x34. Any suggestions on places to shop for him?

I posted this in MENA because I know a lot of the men are thin.

I've found up to 28 x 36 at Old Navy on occassion. Online for sure.....Old Navy, JC Penney's. JC Penney's you can order online and have them ship to the catalog department of a local store to save on shipping.

Number one......from someone who knows.....don't let family dictate your lives. I know you guys are discombobulated right now; but don't let any of them take over for you in any way. You two have to figure this out together. And, you will. 2.5 weeks is not long enough. Take your time.

Second, congrats. I wish you both the best.

Middle East and North AfricaFrustrating Mena Men
My own husband had never driven at all in Jamaica. When he was ready to drive, I made him stay in nearly empty parking lots on Sundays only for months. After that, I wouldn't let him drive on anything but small non-busy streets for another few months...mostly on Sundays too. To get him on the highway, I only let him drive on Sunday mornings before 6 a.m. Slowly he progressed to better times and busier streets. To parellel park, we took laundry baskets on a street full of closed businesses on a Sunday and made him park between. Before he took his driver's test, I hired a driving instructor for 2 hours (2 hour minimum....$120) to make sure I taught him properly and didn't miss anything.

This is one of these things you have to argue your points and make very clear to him. If he damages your car, some else's property, and/or someone....maybe even kill them, this will be very hard, if not impossible to get over. You have got to make him understand the importance of this. If you can't do it, find someone who can. And, if you must, hire someone neutral to do it. This is every important.

I mean.. it got to the point where I've been accused of seeing someone else (which is very far from the truth), and for not caring about him. It felt like a very selfish thing. I worry that it would always be a part of his personality or our everyday-life style (which I will not tolerate).

Right now, we are on a "break" -- he isn't taking it too well. I miss him terribly but my friends here are saying that it's better this way now.... he has been trying to "make up" for it, and promises to not to let it happen again (even after I've shared those concerns with him on numerous occasions.... it's just sad that by "ending" things with him that made him realize how serious it is).

It is normal. However, it sounds like he has a little growing up to do. You will figure all that out with time.

Interesting cause I just said this in the Yardie thread..........

Money Gram is going to make my freakin' blood boil. I gave in last paycheck and sent MIL $100. That was Aug. 27th. The exchange rate at the time was 70.624500. You pay that $8 fee in advance, so my receipt said she was getting the full $100. She picked it up today and the guy only gave her 6,062JA. He said that was the breaks of sending through Money Gram.

I just fired them a scathing e-mail. Someone better fix something. I look like Cruella De Ville right now. My hair is standing on end and I feel like kicking some puppies.

Well, I was fired.

In the past 4 months I have made 84 calls to my husband's number which is apparently long distance even though it's a miami area code (I did not realize it was long-distance). This was deamed "extreemly excessive" - it was about once a day I worked. I have also made 46 "other" long distance calls - about half of which was for recruiting and following up with applicants from the culinary school in NY. I brought that up, and it was something they hadn't concidered wacko.gif

My own fault really, I didn't draw the line with my husband on when he asked me to make calls for him when he couldn't get his point across in English - I guess I was too much of a crutch for him. I told him once I was probably putting my job in danger, but he never really took it seriously.

I have insurance until the end of the month (really need to see that eye doctor now) and then I have the cobra option. Hopefully I will be returning to school full-time in the spring (am doing part-time now) and can get students insurance. I will also be paid out my vacation time.

I will be working on my husband's business, returning to school, and concentrating on my health. I don't plan to return to a regular job until either I finish school or the business fails. So maby 1-2 years blush.gif

So.... how do I collect unemployment? innocent.gif

I hate to say it, but I think they have a valid reason with that much proof against you. I probably make/get that many calls; but I take them on my cell. Never on the work phone.

I'm sorry. I really do hope it all works out for you.

Polar, I faced this last year in 2007. They redesigned my position and they let me go. They said that I had to resign...I told them no way, and that they would have to fire me, because without that I couldn't collect unemployment insurance. You can COBRA out on your health insurance - everyone is entitled to that. You will have to pay the premiums that your company pays...could be alot, but still the option is there. Since you're in Florida, you will only be able to receive $550 every two weeks from unemployment, but it is a check.

Good luck - you'll get through this.

I have done COBRA a few times.....always near $1,000 per month. It sucks so bad.

The norm is that you lose your health insurance and any unused vacation days if you are fired. However, there are some companies that are decent and will allow you to work out a deal with them. I hope yours is one of those.

As you said, "in this economy"......don't you think it would be better to find another job before you quit this one, if given the option? Can you afford it if it takes you a long time to find another job?

I wish you luck in your search.

rofl.gif Old chicks rock! good.gif

One thing that should be mentioned here is that it wasn't that long ago that the American man was looking for a virgin wife, to have children with, to cook and clean, a stay at home wife. Well things evolve, and so do people and their ideas of what they are looking for. That being said, is it that unusual that some of the 20 something year old men are looking outside of the box? Why can't their culture evolve as well?

The aging thing does concern me, and I have mentioned it to my husband how concerned I am about it, especially after watching my fathers health decline so rapidly before his death. He reassured me by stating "don't worry baby, I will change your diaper if you need me to". wacko.gif rofl.gif

Christopher Reeves was not OLD when his wife was forced to change his diapers.

True but sadly I think there is this idea that women are natural caregivers while men are not which is one reason why OM/YW marriages are more typical than OW/YM - my mom took care of my stepdad who was 20 years older when he slowly died of emphysema for 13 years thanks to his own stupid behavior(smoking even as he was dependent on an oxygen tank!!!). John McCain, OTOH, even after suffering physical effects from his ordeal as a POW, dumps his wife after she was injured in a car accident because she is not 'perfect' anymore and somehow it doesn't diminish people's opinions of his character at all. Sorry I did not mean this as a political rant.

My point was you cannot control much in life. An age difference in a relationship that works is the least of one's problems most of the time.
