What about the letter of intent?

Do you have the 2 USCIS style Pictures of you and 2 of your fiance?

I have one of myself and one of hers. Do I need two? Why they need two?

How about a signed letter of intent to marry within 90 days of her arrival in the USA, one from you and one from her?

After my visit with my fiancee last summer, that was the only thing missing, I had her do one, and send it to me, so that I could include it in our package. She photographed the letter, and emailed it to me, I sent the photo of it with our petition, we got no RFE for that, we were just lucky on that one, and would not recommend it to others.

Only 1 passport photo each is needed. See: http://www.uscis.gov...Photo_flyer.pdf

And that is what I sent with our petition.

oh boy thats something I forgot to get!!! the letter of intent!!! I thought about it while I was there, but forgot to get to it!

So can I make her write the letter of intent and have her scan it and send to me as a picture format for me to print?

Passport photos need to be white background.

http://www.uscis.gov...Photo_flyer.pdf
http://travel.state....de 10-01-04.pdf

My fiance gave me an older 1.5x2" style photo, with white background and we used that on our I-129F petition. You may hold and get a newer one from her, many photo shops in China do digital pictures, she could get it done that way, and email you the picture, and you can have it printed here, and resized, cropped and cut to 2"x2"

thanks YuAndDan! you are always very helpful to me. I'll get her to send me a digital passport style photo, it'll save her some money to send these things to me....I don't want her to keep wasting money on this, but where would I go to develop the digital passport photo? Sam's Club? FedEX Kinkos?

I don't have a photo printer at home.

Does the fiancee require a passport style photo?

I have mines, but does she need hers, she sent me a picture similar to passport style, but with a "blue" background....sorta like a drivers license picture. I tried to go get this shrunk to 2x2 passport size. However, walgreeds refuse to do it since its against their policy and they say passport photos need a "white" background, not blue. What should I do? Would I get RFEed for this?

This is the only think I know of that is holding this back, please help!

I used Dynasky calling cards. $20 and 23 hours of talk time to china. I think going to their website, you can be able to pull call history and the numbers you dialed, after putting in your card number and pin.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC DOESN´T BELIEVE ON THE VERACITY OF MY DOCUMENTS
I always follow the rule that if I can get another, I send the certified copy from the issuing agency.....marriage certs, divorce decrees, birth papers, police records. If I can't, then I send a notarized copy.....DL, GC, passport. Now, that rule for me, has followed through out the entire process. Not just talking about your part. But, that is the rule I have followed and thus far, it's gone just fine.

Some things they REQUIRE originals of from the issuing sources. A notary saying they are exact copies of originals will not do on some things.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThe NVC blows

I hate to be the ugly duckling here, but to be honest I called the sh-t out of them during my time of waiting and I had nothing but fantastic experiences!

I made sure that when I called I was very prepared with the case information, exactly what I needed and why, and was overly friendly in asking for the assistance. Being in South Florida, you become accustomed to absolutely ZERO customer service anywhere so maybe I am hardened - what is "nice" to me may not be to others, but I personally tip my hat to the many people in the NVC I dealt with. My process went smoothly, without incident or mistake, quickly and with good customer service.

I agree. The wait time was exasperating; but the people I talked to were nothing but friendly and helpful. Wish they would update the web system to be a little more user friendly and up to date.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSocial Security Number

Just wondered if anybody knows whether it is best to request the Social Security number at the time of the interview or do it after arriving in the U.S. My wife has her CR1 interview in 2 weeks in Bogota. I spoke with someone in my local Social Security office yesterday and he strongly suggested waiting until she arrives in the U.S. to request the number. He said that he gets a lot of calls from people waiting months to get their Social Security number when requesting it at the time of interview or POE. He said that it adds additional layers of bureacracy. Also, will NOT checking the box requesting the Social Security number at the time of the interview affect the ability to obtain it after arriving in the U.S.? Any input or personal experiences on this subject would be appreciated.

Mark

We did that checking the box thing when Jomo applied and it didn't work.

We were told he had to have a work permit in order to get a SSN here. Had to wait for the AOS to be approved before the green card to arrive before they would issue him his SSN. It took us 5 months to get all that. Once we had all that in hand, he was able to apply for and receive his SSN.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresport of entry

Hi georgie23,

It might be a problem when they reach the POE, because on the their Visa it will have the Petitioner Name and Address and I think the petitioner's address will serve as the designated POE (I may be wrong).

Regards,
Eddie

Couldn't they just fill out the immigration form to have the petitioner's address on it? How would anyone really know where their destination is unless someone tells them? People use connecting flights all the time. CA could just be a flight change for all they know.

Jomo came through Miami which is nowhere near St. Louis, where we live.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone been through Miami POE?
Andre went through Miami June 2006. We had a 2 hour layover and managed to get through immigration, customs, and get a bite to eat before getting on the next plane. It was fine.

One note: the immigration office he saw did not take his brown envelope. I freaked out and managed to ask someone before they ushered us out like cattle. This immigration officer contacted another, who took our envelope and sent us to the room where they do the mini-welcome to America interviews that take a few minutes. So, beware if they don't take that envelope. Don't leave the immigration area till they do.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWife arriving at Miami International

My wife is coming next friday. Could anyone who came thru Miami POE advice me on what should my wife expect at her arrival?

Thanks!

-Justo.

Andre came through Miami last year. First of all, they split us up and sent me to citizen's line and him to non-citizen line. It was no big deal cause they are close enough to see each other in. My one note of caution here is to make sure they take that brown envelope from your wife and escort her to interview room. They did not take Andre's envelope and luckily, I caught that fact and asked an immigration officer before we left the area. They were going to send him on through without the initial processing. UUUGGGHHHH!

Once they got their heads out of their butts, it went quickly....maybe 10 minutes.

Otherwise, they were very nice. And, everything went smoothly.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWorried.....proof of relationship????

I'm starting to get a little worried. I have seen other ppl get their I-130 approved lately w/later NOA dates then myself. I know USCIS don't process in order but it still bothers me. I didn't submit any proof of marriage besides a couple of pics and the marriage certificate. We never lived together and didn't know what to send so we sent nothing. Since then I have obtained a couple of letters from family and friends. I figure we should at least have it ready for the interview in case it's question. Do you think this could be the delay in our case? Should I send in what I have? If so do I send it directly to CSC and put my receipt # on it? I appreciate any help as possible.

Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy Story; Few Q

Got married 12/31/2006.
Contacted US Embassy about requirement for spouse visa; January 2007.
Advised by the Embassy that due to the changes, they no longer can accept I-130.
Advised by the Embassy to file with USCIS. I have all the emails send to me from the Embassy.

Forwarded all required document to family member in US to mail to either USCIS
Or NVC.

3/14/07: I-130 accepted by USCIS
6/01/07: Case approved and forwarded to NVC
7/17/07: DS-3032 and AOS accepted by NVC
8/06/07: Mailed IV bill
8//13/07: Mailed I-864

Since our marriage, I have been living with my wife.
I have a permanent resident in US, all my financial document send to NVC
shows my resident address in US.

My questions:
Form DS-230, line 14:
Address of spouse (if different from your own). Should my wife put my US address
OR local address?

Interview concern:
Should I be concerned about living overseas and filling with USCIS?

Your wife does not live in the US, so you would not list her address as the US.

Your living overseas during the process is a problem only to the extent it impacts you ability to qualify as the sponsor. It is a positive factor in showing evidence of bona fide ongoing relationship.

Does it impact his ability? He didn't say if he was working over there for an his American company or not.

My dear,

I don't know anything about this weed thing, but I do wish you the best. Do not listen to these naysayers. Just keep praying and keep GOD in your heart and he will be your guide. Who He blesses no one can curse!!

Just tell your hubby to stay away from bad influences. They will try to influence him to do the wrong thing because "im a com a foreign"

Well, personal attacks are one thing and should be dealt with accordingly. But, naysayers have their points and I think they should at least be considered.

In this case, I think he will be just fine.

More importantly, tell him to keep his eye on the prize. If he really wants this, he will do everything he has to, to accomplish the goal.

The last few people I have known, have quit a month before and were just fine. He needs to stay away from smoking and inhaling any fumes in an enclosed space, if possible. Oh, and I don't believe in "magic pills" to mask anything. That is my take on the whole thing.
